Get ready to get flamed.
You guys are absolutly right in what your saying, and FYI ive been saying the same thing for awhile, but everyone else will flame us for saying it. -
Quote:I have a build ready to roll for Rad/MM/Force built for +ranged Defence........... modled him after a sinestro corps members.I've been playing around with the idea of a Rad/MM Blaster, as I like ranged damage over melee for Blasters, and these are 2 sets I've not played to higher levels before. Also. this would be PvE, primarily solo or PUGs. After doing a little research, I came up with this basic build:
1. Subdual
1. Neutrino Bolt
2. X-Ray Beam
4. TK Thrust
6. Swift
8. Proton Volley
10. Psychic Scream
12. Aim
14. Fly
16. Health
18. Cosmic Burst
20. Stamina
22. Drain Psyche
24. Concentration
26. Electron Haze
28. Aid Other
30. Aid Self
32. Atomic Blast
35. Scare
38. Psychic Shockwave
Does this look like a viable build? I'll have my 60 month Vet Badge in a couple of weeks, so I won't need to take a pre-travel travel power. If I can only slot up either Subdual or Neutrino Bolt for damage, which should I go for? Any advice would be appreciated. -
Quote:This is incorrect, defiance is based off animation times not recharge times. As RB said, there are only a few sets that follow the "4/8" rule. As of right now, and through all my playtesting during closed beta, Rad Blast on a Blaster doesn't feel like Rad Blast.
I missread what he typed, my bad. -
Quote:Did you notice that the recharge times of Neutrino Bolt and X-Ray Beam aren't 1.5 and 3 seconds like the Defender and Corruptor versions, but rather 4 and 8 seconds?
They have been normalized due to the Blaster Defiance Equation.
This will be true of every blaster set that will ever be released. -
Quote:The craze is because you litterally can solo as effeciently as a scrapper if you do it right. Also I am a firm believer that BLASTERS ARE RANGED DAMAGE SPECIALISTS. If we were meant to be melee then we would have WAY better migitation. The whole blapper thing is stupid, and despite the fact it may work or not, its not the way the AT was designed and the devs will tell you that.yeah you missed that most rgd defdnse soft cappers don't know how to play a blaster properly ^^
or maybe they have a ton of money and they waste it for these silly templates ^^
to the OP :
blasters deel damage, that's it. slot with dmg, acc, rch and recov if you don't want stamina ...
But if you want to softcapp, just do it i don't really mind
I just wanted to warn you
Ive been playing this blaster since beta so dont tell me I dont know how to play a blaster. I can solo on him just fine with the maxed Rech/Dmg/Acc/HP but when Issue 16 comes I want to be tackling 8 man spawns like my widow does, and unless I can do that then I wont be happy until I can.
So every trick helps and unfortunatly since this was the very 1st toon I made I didnt know what all would be different back in the day. All I knew was that I wanted a fire based ranged hero, and fire/fire was thematic so thats what I picked.
I dont want to reroll him after 60 some months of playing him, and I dont want a playstyle that I dont like. I dont get into melee ranged now unless its to mop up somthing thats giving me issues at range. So based on my playstyle and based on the fact that EVERY other toon I have is softcapped for some form of DEF, I would say that its a perfectly valid question for me to be asking for a little assistance is adapting a fire/fire to a playstyle that suites me.
ALSO...... we have dual builds now, so whats your problem again? -
Quote:IF VEATS get a 5th power, I'd think an easy (And still useful) power to give them would be an Endurance recovery, such as Dark Consumption for Soul, and Power Sink for Mu.
I know playing my Widow, endurance is my single biggest issue and having a way to fill that hole would be a real boon.
Ive seen ALOT of people complain about Widows endurence...... I havent had any issues myself, maybe im missing somthing. I run Idomitable Will, Widow Manuvers, Manuvers, Assualt, and Mask Presence.
I think the trick is that I knew that widows recov bonus work off a higher scale because of having a higher base. So those little Thunderstrike etc recov bonus stack up really fast. -
Having some issues squeezing out a maxed Ranged Defence build out of my Fire/Fire/Fire blaster....... I have to have Fly, Stamina, & Hasten.
I usually dont have any trouble but for some reason doing it on my FireX3 is giving me some issues.
I have Appoc slotted in Fire Blaster & Rag in Fire Ball Id like to keep them if possible.
Thanks in advance guys.
Id would love some suggestions. -
Quote:Smoke, would be double up for /dev. Consume would be double up for elec/fire, melt armor would be more in sync with munition, imho more likely (basicly everything would be available twice then).
@above, lemme guess? You're one of those who say all secondairy should be like 'imba' energy? Or 'ubah' MM?
NOT ONLY am I "one of those guys" im probably the most vocal about it on the boards, I have been screaming it since beta about bringing them all up to as good as NRG, and im even more vocal about it now that MM is around. I will continue to do it till somthing gets done as well.
I love blasters way too much to sit idly by while 80% of the secondary powers dont get used because of how crappy they seem in comparison to the freaking awesome newer powers.
Also yeah id would surely be ok with Healing Flames being the power, Smoke would be dope as well. I actually dont see any issues with giving them a AOE Sleep either, quite a few blasters have access to one anyway and Fire would be pretty awesome with it. Sadly I think that would give a few sets 2 AOE sleep and that would be bad. -
The following comment is not directed towards any one person or meant to sound like a jerk but....................
Blaster subjects STILL get sooo many replies from people who dont even know what moves are in the freaking sets.
Im sick and tired of hearing stuff like "Blasters are overpowerd!" "Blasters ruin PVP" "Blasters are already too powerful!".
All of those comments are made by people who dont know enough about them. My main since beta has been my Fire/Fire blaster Psynder. He has gone through alot of ups and downs and since about 1 month into my COX life I KNEW that my secondary was 75% Trash. The devs knew it too, there was LONG talk about the mythical "Blaster Secondary Rebuild".
For whatver reason they decided not to do it, which is a shame since most blaster secondaries have powers that LITTERALY will be nothing but a way to get you killed if you are inexperienced enough to take them.
Most of our Nukes are situational JOKES. The most degrading thing about leveling a blaster is knowing that there is a point in your career where you stop being awesome and starting being shunned lol and its from 33 - 41 usually. Even after anciallary pools blasting is not always easy.
Our secondaries leave ALOT to be desired compared to EVERY other AT in the whole game.
People need to learn more about blasters:
The ins and outs.
Solo play.
Team play.
Raids (rikti ships, hami, etc)
PVP.
All of these things need to be experienced both team and solo before anyone should be forming an experience on whether blasters still need some work or not.
Some of these people are the ones still moaning and complaining about how regen should be buffed back to the way i originally was. -
Gangwar isnt broken ON A MASTERMIND.
You put it on ANY other AT and it becomes rediculously overpowered. You give this to my widow, or a controller, or *shudders* a blaster? and it becomes an all purpose facestomping engine of death. -
-
Quote:The article did not mention whether SoA is getting the new powers or not. They should.
I don't know which set doesn't have 5 powers. I think most of them are in coh? I don't play heroes!
Yeah the SOA could use em, theyre choices arent very good at the moment, I dont even take them on my Widow aside from Spirit Shark.
Most blasters didnt get a 5th, I think some tanks, Scrappers, and also its hit or miss with the other ATs as well.
Its gonna be neat to see what they decide to give everyone. -
So my question is, what move could we add to each Ancillary and Patron pool for each powerset that would help fix any problems that type has, without making it too over powered. Sometimes ONE power is all it takes to take a set of "eh its not bad" to really good. For example adding Hibernate to the Dominator Mako Patrons. It took my Dom to a whole new level.
Ive been really bummed since that last round of these that Fire Mastery for blasters didnt get a 5th move, but I honestly dont know what id give them to help fill in the gaps.
What powers do you think should be added as the 5th? Or which DO YOU THINK they will end up with. -
Quote:/Fire Manipulation prevents hairy situations by making most everything dead before they can respond and by making the few survivors desirous of fleeing instead of attacking. Its not very intuitive and difficult to learn. It uses far too much endurance and Consume is not on a fast enough recharge to help as much as it should. Combustion has issues. But the monkeys who randomly picked powers out of the Fiery hat did pretty alright, in my book.
Fix /devices or give /Nrg some kind of group buff (wouldn't it be nice if CP affected all alies within 20 feet?)
This is in the same category as the infamous "Range is your defence!" argument. The problem with "just kill it before it kills you" is that when you dont, you die. What if you miss somthing really dangerous with your AOEs? The biggest hole in this argument is and will always be that no matter how much dmg your moves do, they arent going to soften, prevent, or help you recover in any way from that HUGE alpha your about to take from the mob.
Fire primary doesnt suffer from this because you can chuck fireball while diving behind a wall, or tree or rock lol. You cant do ANYTHING to protect yourself at all with FSC, Combustion, Consume, etc. And since the the sit lacks ANY tech powers you are left with no tricks when that mob that you "just kill em first" isnt dead and now you are outnumbered, out damaged, and out positioned. -
Quote:Secondairies from blaster are 'support', be it thus damage wise (elec/nrg, fire on mass aoe), softcontrol (partly MM, ice, bitty dev), or a mix of this.
Clearly u never seen a /fire in action when a tank can keep 100% agro?
Dev is the first in line that might need some help, due lack of buildup, the others are pretty ok.
You should never base your opinions on a situation where you have backup. Im talking solo, or when you have no tank, or no scrapper, or no meatshields on the team. Im talking making each and every blaster as soloable and awesome as every dom, every troler, every properly built defender.
Blasters are great, no argument there, but the problem lies in the lack of variety and options to make them unique and fun. Ive been playing my fire blaster faithfully since beta, and I can tell you that in terms of having tricks and staying alive in really hairy situations, it holds NO candle to MM, Ice, Dev, NRG etc.
I think all the seconaries need looked at, with the acception of NRG, and MM. -
Rebuild ALL blaster secondaries, to bring them into line with /NRG and /mm.
They should have somthing about them that makes them unique and ADDS to and COMPLEMENTS the primaries.
Some of them are just a joke compared to the others. /Fire for example is and will more than likely always be the redheaded stepchild of secondaries because it brings NOTHING special to the table.
Yes we all know Fire Sword Circle does alot of damage and is a good PBAOE, so what. Most blasters take 2 MAYBE 3 if your lucky moves from the secondary if they are /fire.
Mental Manipulation is a bunch of cool controls, and tech powers. Energy Manipulation is a bunch of good melee, and boosting abilities to make your primary better. /Devices is what you would think it would be, your the trapsters, the gadgeteer.
Fire is...... well....... you get ..... some...... more dmg? and a bunch of moves that no blaster in theyre right mind should want to have.
Blazing Aura???? Combustion???? Burn????? yeah.
How about we take a look at MM and then look at the original secondaries and see how much of a gap there really is. -
I dont mean hit and RUN like completly away. I just mean you should sit in on place like an idiot, like 70% of the pvpers do. You have to remain mobile and press your advantage. Part of it is knowing the difference between how a power acts in PVE and how it acts in PVP cause its a big difference in some cases.
Your on drugs if you think I dont get alot of kills. I have funded all my toons off of PVP IO drops I get in RV. I know for a fact that I have had ATLEAST 600-700 kills since I finalized this toons build.
Dont you just love people who think that because they suck, everyone else must too? Also dont ever neglect the power of accolaides and elude. They are amazing when you regen as fast as I do. -
I have no such issues, in fact my Widow is easily my best PVP toon. You cant just rely on your defence anymore, I have about 45% to ranged, 55% to melee, and 42% to AOE, my typed im not sure on but I have almost capped HP, and regen at about 32HP a second which helps alot. Also sitting at about 145% global rech and somthing like 60% global dmg buff.
I honestly think in current PVP +HP and +Regen are just as important as anything else. That and you cant play like a beatstick.
I usually hit run, hit run, hit run, constantly ducking behind walls, tress, buildings etc, DONT LET THEM USE RANGE. Make them come to you, and if they wont come to you, then punish them with stuff like Spirit Shark etc. -
That probably one of the coolest ideas ive heard in a long time. Id eat that up.
I wouldnt go overboard on them though. Id say Fire,Ice, Poison would be the best easiest ones to do.
Incindiary rounds - Splits your damage into Lethal/Fire and adds 10% damage and some DOT.
Liquid Nitro Rounds- Splits your damage into Lethal/Ice, slow movement speed and recharge, and has a 10% to apply a mag 2 hold.
Poison Rounds- Splits your damage into 75% Lethal/ 25% toxic, does some -regen, and has like a 25% chance for -res.
I would freaking love this. Sombody draw up a good powerlist and dump this in the suggestion channel. -
Im not new to PVP, but I am new to being any good at it. With the new changes I decided that it was time to jump into the deep end. I took my favorite toon (my night widow) and proceeded to buy everything I ever wanted to put on a toon. It took time but I eventually created a machine of pure death.
I delved back into RV for the first time in ages, and low and behold I was quickly attacked by a Katana/regen scrapper. The fight lasted about a minute but it was fun. In the end I was able to get the killing blow. I was pretty happy.
As the days went on I learned some tricks, and finally at the end of the first week I had a very proud moment. The scrapper that had first attempted to kill me without me noticing him the first night showed up in the zone, and was heading right towards me, we had a few run ins over the coarse of the week but I always came out on top even if it was just barely. As he came over the hill I prepped my Mind Link, and hit BU and went in for a Crit. He quickly saw me coming hit Phase shift and instantly ran.
I was a bit disapointed but seconds later recieved a tell saying " Knight Widow, I dont have time to get wrecked by you tonight, Im busy trying to actually get some kills."
Kinda cool, how a guy who just a few short weeks earlier was "LOLz, U cant pvp, u R not 1337 Enuff!" was now having people just run at first sight because they didnt think they could beat me.
Im having alot of fun now, and Im by no means invincible but its cool being able to hang with some of the more well knowns on my server. -

What would the tier 9 in a dual pistols be? Dont get me wrong, Im gonna make me one the day it comes out (hopefully in beta). But I am just wondering what kind of "nova" you can get with dual pistols. It doesnt have to be "real", lord knows RoA isn't.

I know this has been suggested before but I never really saw why it is such an issue?
I have wanted to change the gender of a few of my toons before but with the current discussions surounding Night Widows and Forts, I felt that it was worthy of another debate.
Id really like to be able to get this done, I honestly feel that it shouldnt be any harder than a trip to the tailor, but even if it cost a couple of bucks OR you can do it through a recipe drop.
What do you guys think? I NEEDZ MEH A SECS CHAINGE! -
I dont really see what the problem is. My widow isnt the invincible demigod that he was before the changes but im still a force to be reconned with in the zones. I eat scrappers for lunch and tankers and brute for breakfast, Blasters fall before my might, and even the mighty blast-fender must keep looking over its shoulder.
Widows are like PBs in that in PVP you must be built with atleast a LITTLE pvp in mind. Slot some HP, some regen, and some extra position defence, and KEEP MOVING.
Dont try to brawl it out, hit and run, and for the love of god use PROCS! -

What general population?
There are like, ten people who play doms. Half the posts on this forum are me and the other half are Liliaceae.

Am I one of the ten? or did you miss me and we are at 11? -
Ok its been weeks with my my bids sitting at 135,005,000 and still the missing piece of my set has not shown its ugly face.
Even been bidding on the recipe which for some reason is going for 10 mill more than the IO itself.
Anyone have one? Im on guardian server. If not post it haha and ill hope nobody bid higher than me lol.
