Snowstorm has the slow and recharge debuff. Snowstorm also has -fly and an interrupt feature that prevents self-detonating foes from exploding like embalmed abominations, circle mages; sky raider engineers setting up FFGs, rikti communication officers opening portals.

Quote:On my */dark villains, I usually lead off with fearsome stare. If they do not easily fear, then I stun them with Howling Twilight. Whatever is missed by FS, comes after me, or I hit it with twilight grasp to debuff it, and the primary corruptor powers or minions deal with it swiftly enough.I picked up a lot of my terminology elsewhere.
Anyway, it varies a lot. On my bots MM, defensive/follow, run in, drop PGT or caltrops. Usually that's all I have to do. The tricky part comes when, say, one group is too close to another for my comfort -- then I usually pick an outrunner, have the bots attack it, immediately hit follow, and run around a corner.
On the demons/dark mm, if there's anything I can easily pick off, and I'm not in a hurry, I tend to grab something with TP foe. If a group is reasonably isolated, I can just charge in and attack. If there's other groups nearby, I try to encourage them to come towards me and away from whatever else is nearby. I will happily open with some kind of ranged attack and hop around a corner -- that's why my tentative plan includes the long-range whip attack. Corners are nice for getting everyone bunched up around my darkest night anchor on a tar patch.
In general, if I don't feel the need to specially move the mobs away from where they spawned, I pretty much come up to them and attack. Since I have Shadow Fall up, that usually means I come pretty close and then attack. They all initially attack me, then the demons kill them. I laugh maniacally. -
My fault, I was thinking this was an aura proc. The buildup proc doesn't do a whole lot for gangwar.
-
I think you want gangwar. You can put your soulbound allegiance proc there.
Unfortunately the +recharge procs that used to work in pets no longer affect pets' recharge rate or speed. -
Hey seebs, I was just wondering if you could give bit of a run-down how you approach spawns. My hair stands up a bit when you mention 'pulls'.

This build got me a lot of mileage PVE...

It kind of depends on level. I would support the idea that pound for pound a Forcefield defender can outperform an empath up to level 20 because of the continual mezz protection, defense, and freedom to take other support powers as many forcefield powers are mostly considered optional at best.
As buffs become more availabe, empathy comes into its own with additional recharge, slotting, and available team buffs. The same for other defender sets.
That said, what comes around goes around as the endurance drain protection in the insulation shield can be critical in fighting Malta sappers and Carnie end drainers in the late game.
I built a team support character specifically for the old-style Positron taskforce: Ice/Forcefield controller. There is a lot of protection in the bubbles and ice slick. -
Quote:I think if you are using Hell on Earth for just imp damage or just buff damage, you aren't looking at the whole package. The little cloud of living hellfire is a great aggro absorber. I love seeing bosses wasting their big hit attacks on streams of living hellfire advancing on them. It's worth it every time I cast it, but I agreee there are some some maps with some spawn places that it isn't beneficial to aggro the whole map.
I've skipped Hell on Earth because i believe with or without IO sets that the cooldown timer on it isn't worth the waiting. It might end up slowing you because you will end up depending on it for that extra damage and...well, there's always Forge from Thermal Rad for that :P Heck, even Painbringer is better than it. So, that saves us one power to grab something else instead of it. -
-
I have a demons/thermal, and I very much like having the extra heal in ember demon. He has the single target heal from level 12-50 and adds the PbAoE heal. These affect your minions and YOU, the mastermind. Where it can really matter is when your mastermind is temporarily mezzed.
I would also urge you to slot some endurance reduction in your second tier demons especially after level 32. They are very busy with the auras and can suck down their end to nothing. Frankenslotting is your friend. -
The order of powers is more important than the order of slots. I put the slots in to show where the emphasis should be. Slot the demons first, dark next, and extras like whips and ancillaries lowest.

Quote:Just wait til your bucket of bolts hits level 32That is a fantastic pun, but I think my limit for how many times I am willing to explain it will be pretty low. I mat switch him to a firewall-ish name, he does like to light things up.
On a side note, Assault Bot=happy me.
I have a Ninja/Dark, and I must say when I got Oni it was nice to have another pet, but the Assault Bot seems like a whole other level.
On a second side note, the name I gave my Oni is ilikered. It fits him for some reason. -

Betsy
Daisy
Milly
Hunny Bell
Clarabelle
Buttercup
Bessy
Lulu
Madge
Elsie
Debby
Bossy
I like the flaming bovines -
Poison is more single target, but the single target debuffs are on a quick recharge. I highly recommend Hasten for poison users. On my level 50 masterminds, if I were given the chance to fight a hero/AV of which I knew nothing, and the lower minions were engaged by teammates or didn't matter, I would want to take my Robots/Poison against it. The single target debuffs, useful out of the box, are designed for big game hunting. There is also the big debuff, what I call the 'stinky britches', noxious gas that your mastmind casts on your sturdiest minion usually such as: the Assault Bot or the big Bruiser in thugs. There is a chance to hold that ticks as long as noxious gas is active that will detoggle and hold anything including Statesman or Lord Recluse.
Poison can take on missions +3/X1, forcefields takes on +1/X8 but takes 5-10 minutes to mop up. Forcefields can make your pets near indestructible with soft cap defense. Poison is the single target debuff king. They are both competitive and successful and both bring a LOT of benefits to teams but they are about polar opposite. -
I would definitely fit in plasma shield sooner if it were me. I would also recommend as much recharge reduction as you can spare through regular IOs or frankenslotting in Hell on Earth, Forge, Heat Exhaust and Melt Armor. These powers will increase the already good damage that your demons do.
-
It's a display bug, and not an actual bug to the amount of buff. Since there is damage resistance and damage both in the power, it treats the display of the damage portion as Schedule B. This was reported and tested during the Demon Summoning beta. With your level of enhancement, you should experience ~90% damage enhancement in the actual damage numbers.

Quote:To put this build together, I set it up on Mids and took the premium powers and bolted them in first. Demonlings, Enchant demons, Summon Demons, Hell on Earth, Fearsome Stare, Stamina, Summon Demon Prince, Abyssal Empowerment. Then I backfill to make it work. Tar Patch, Darkest Night, Howling Twilight, the Stamina pre-requisites. If you need travel before level 20, good luck. I am hoping you can get a temporary travel pack from a mayhem or else have the ninja run available.Any good guides out there for DS? I looked in the guide section here and didn't see one linked.

I say yes. The three drones have fullauto laser cones. The protectors spill out non-stop streams of photon grenades and seeker drones, and the Assault bot has the -regen laser shots with the AoE burn patch incendiary missiles.

Quote:Robot is primarily range. Necro is more melee-centric, and Demons is a bit of both. In each group I listed storm as last in the group since I feel it takes more skill to play. Forcefields is very basic. Dark and thermal are about the same once you get to the higher levels. Not my first MM or stormie...I have not played a MM in an issue or two seriously so I was looking for some good ideas.
So this list is it from top to bottom suggestions or (more what it looks like) a grouping of suggestions.
To me the highest evolution of destructive ability for a mastermind is ... Robots/Storm. I use combat tp to queue up gale on spawns and work the Robot KB into forcing groups into corners for stormy corners of dooooom. -
-
Try logging into a character on a different server and come back to your mastermind. That might break it up.
-
Robot/traps
Robot/FF
Robot/Thermal
Robot/Dark
Robot/Storm
Necro/Dark
Necro/Thermal
Necro/Storm
Demons/Dark
Demons/FF
Demons/Thermal
Demons/Storm
If this is your first MM or your first Stormy, I would pick something else to get used to masterminds. -
Second what Cipher said, with a quick word in favor for thermal as a good runner-up to dark.
