  1. Forcefields is not to everyone's taste - neither is empathy.

Oh, and the soft cap is normally 45%. In two of the new trials it's 59%. Suddenly soft capped builds aren't. Builds that were "close enough" within 10% of the cap, or now off by 24%.
This is SO true, Amy. People think they are sooooo cool, and they are clueless about the level shift of the incarnate material. Also, there is more defense debuff from foes, too, at high levels.

Status protections for squishies, force bubble for melee attack mitigation, End drain protection, and a little hockey goalie *boot to the head* from force bolt is gravy on top of the pristine defense buffs.
  2. You did goose it up good. I don't know about Team Teleport for Robots since they are pretty tough at range. I kind of like the Aegis Psionic/Status resistance too if you can fit it in.

If they disagree with the level of moderation, then the are free to choose if they prefer that level of moderation or make a new channel that is less moderated.
When I complain that the server doesn't participate in zone events, I get silenced. When one of Maya's cronies uses racially based invective against a sitting mod of the channel, that person skates.

This is what I mean by capricious, strict rules for your social outsiders.

Its picky, but fly and jet packs always bothered me with the coasting.

    Game population

Kind of unrelated, but this thread jogged an idea into my little head. The server merge probably won't impact the number of subscriptions in the US, but it very well could entice more Europeans and non-NA folks to play since there will be more 'kids in the sandbox'.

"Softcap" in incarnate content IS a good bit higher than what we are accustomed to in normal PvE.
  7. I don't have a lot of incarnate experience on my cold yet, but I went the musculature route. I have 5 7.5 Recharge Buff LotGs already. I am about 10 seconds shy of perma-hasten. I could change horses to spiritual.

Musculature: My defenders are usually built where I wish I had more damage. One of the enhanceable features of heat loss is the endurance drain. My main point is more damage for defender secondaries like howl and shriek that I compromised damage slots on. As you get higher level alpha abilities, the more it ignores ED.

I do think Nerve for more defense in the ice shields is more than a LITTLE more defense. Pushing the defense numbers up on maneuvers isn't wasted either.
edit: Increasing the defense debuff in infrigidate isn't a wasted exercise either.
  8. My opinion is that force bubble and repulsion bomb are BOTH indispensable. With Personal Forcefield, aid self is redundant. You can put a nice IO set for stun in repulsion bomb. Inherent stamina with 2 slots should cover most end needs for FF. Stealth is unnecessary. That's the short of it.

Now, picture this if you will. You are fighting the Director 11 AV in Tin Mage, hover near but barely out of melee range over your tank (in my case it was a Dark Armor tank). Your team is bubbled with FORCE BUBBLE in place with your tanker teammate going toe to toe with the director. The Malta ambushes NEVER got in melee range. Insulation shield neutered the sappers. In my experience, NOT ONE of the bombs placed by invisible minions ever exploded on my defender or the tank. It was a scintillating success for Forcefields and the use of Force Bubble!
  9. I like this kind of post. Presenting level-up strategies separate from pimping out a level 50 with a gazillion influence is appreciated.

A set mixing combos with pistol to hit in the mobs face, katana cutting the mobs and then shooting them like the executioner shot animation, while holding the katana with the other hand...
    Me like it!
I am no expert but I think this is more easily implemented since we have seen characters holding a shield (which includes a shield bash animation in brawl) and a weapon.
  11. I agree with Eric Hough, there are bind commands that can select pets by the order they were summoned 1-6 and by their custom names. This is also included in Sandolphan's guide.

    Anyway, only 2 comments.

Of higher importance, you have no accuracy at all in Dark Servant. Your global accuracy and Tactics may suffice for lvl 50 content, but even with your bonuses and Tactics, my back the napkin math shows that against +3s, he has an 85% chance to-hit. I'd use 2 of the Cloud Sense with Accuracy enh in lieu of any 2 you have already.

Of lesser importance, I'd use a Winter's Gift IO instead of Endurance in Recall Friend. You're not going to burn a lot of endurance tping people, but the -slow and -rch resists can be quite nice.
Good point about the winter's slow, I forget that set sometimes when topping off an uber build. As an aside, as the winter's gift for resist, putting 7.5% Rech buff of LotG in as many powers as you can such as manuvers, hover, vengeance, stealth powers, is beneficial - as you did in shadow fall.

You dark users out there should be sure to 6 slot shadow fall due to the many beneficial single enhancement bonuses that you can slot there.

    TA/DP direction

As with traps, immobilization is effective in fights against AVs and tough bosses because immobilization is not resisted like some other mezzes - its a mag 3 immobilize. There is also a recharge debuff in entangling arrow. This effect has the potential to stack with other teammates' slows to provide good mitigation in those tough fights. You might not need it for single target hellions, but later it picks up significance.
  14. I like how it looks. I like that it is relatively easily achievable without going crazy on purples. The only thing I twitched on was one slot of recharge in howling twilight. My Bots/Dark went nuts the disorient direction. The personal I attack for my mastermind I selected was photon grenades. Among the other critical tactics (fearsome stare, darkest night) my mastermind grabs aggro with the photon grenade; the protector bots respond with seeker drones and photon grenades of their own. Then, I add a howling twilight chaser just to make sure even more mag and more AoE stun is applied.

Of course, this leads to the alpha slotting of spiritual for heals, stuns, and the ever-popular recharge. I had a brief lapse in playing so I don't have an opinion on the other incarnate slots.

    TA/DP direction

TA is very group friendly. Leveraging the debuff from glue arrow, acid arrow, and disruption arrow really multiplies damage in a significant way. I shelved a TA/sonic because of solo hell on a low pop server that was hard to find teams at the times I played.

    Quote:
According to Red Tomax, there is a 12.5% debuff that lasts 6 seconds for the chem rounds, maybe not so great on a single target attack but in the AoEs that does add up.
With inherent stamina, lower costs of TA click debuffs and low end costs and crashless nukes on dual pistols, you can mow down minion content fairly quickly. I would build for recharge myself and work into more defense.

Another thing to look at is stacking the slows in dp cryo rounds with glue arrow. The Slows can be very effective mitigation, too.
  16. My 0.02 inf worth, I think empathy is fine as a buff set in addition to a heal set. My preference however is /thermal. The thermal shields can really cut down on healing. The top tier debuffs are very satisfying.

other than that i think most of the other powers in traps are just too good to not take lol
Amazing as it might seem, webnade is INVALUABLE against tough bosses and AVs because of your stationary trapping style. They can be immobilized easier than other statuses. For instance we had a team of 3 at the end of a Manticore (long story). Without the trapper's webnade the AV would run all over. Webnade and then stick him with the poison gas trap!

  19. I am not sure which exact channel Wendy is referring to, but there is a channel on Triumph that is run by a most strict and capricious lot that silences people right and left. Triumph LFT is a recommended channel.
  20. Taxibot, I too slot for stun in Short Circuit, and also in Ball Lightning. Stunned foes are just as harmless as fully drained ones.

    Ah lowbie fun

Energy, AR, Archery could use some love. I DO like -defense in radiation in the level up stage of a defender because it means you can take on reds and purples and hit more often, the team hits more often. True, getting a 95% cap is easier stacking the rad blasts. I think the developers went a little too far in reducing the end drain of electric blast. Draining minions totally with one shot of short circuit is a bit much, but I think they erred on being conservative.

    Ah lowbie fun

Between incarnate trial withdrawal and my own physical limitations of late, I have rolled even more alts. That's fun in itself seeing all the shiny stuff in the character creation screens. I solo'd some with a defender on a low pop server. I have a theme character I wanted to get up to the raptor pack from the safeguard mission in KR. I could take my chances running to Fire Base Zulu, but I did it the old fashioned way.

After I solo'd some, a new character by a player with 50+ vet months experience invites me to team and gives me the star since my sonic/sonic defender was 5 and his forcefield sonic defender was 3. He apparently is making a solo FF/sonic, which to me is weird but its lowbie land, and experimentation abounds. The delight was how much my defender and his defender having the first two sonic blasts and both of us having howl just made lowbie content MELT.

Defender debuffs for the win: I know some have suggested this or that feature for defenders to be improved, but in my experienc, a boost to the secondary effects of defenders' blasts would separate the abilities from blasters, corruptors, and dominators ranged blasts.
