No one can buy any more points. The ability to do any monetary transactions has been terminated.

ice has traditionally been seen as a srong control power along with earth and fire. Rad emission has been a strong buff/debuff set for a long time. It's not a pathetic leeching build, but I wouldn't want to solo it either.
By the way my most favorite ice power is Ice Slick, so simple so elegant. Flop! I say! Flop! -
I hear that a lot nytflyr from a lot of players with medical conditions, people on disability retirement that can't go 8 hours a day, but can take their mind of reality for minutes maybe a couple hours. Then there are disable vets, who get to vicariously be heroes again in a game that jerks the carpet out from under them again. Considering my game play cost less than 50 cents a day, its cheap entertainment when you have no or limited income.

I have to go with my Bots/Storm mastermind. The awesomeness of ranged damage combined with the debuff and control of the stormy powers. The robots never complained about any storm KB.

I just noticed today in the center square area in Grandville, when you run up to the trainer arbiter, some of the panels you run on are hollow metal sounding, the squares directly around the arbiter are solid. This I heard from the sound not the graphics.

Quote:Supersidekicking was a huge improvement. My level 35 could team as 25 or 45 and contribute and get XP without the +/- 3 level requirement bridging horse hockey of old school P/L. Taskforces, contact missions, radio missions, and hero tips were easy to build teams for. There were four things CoH had that I've never really seen duplicated in any MMO I've played (or rather I've never seen all four at once, some MMOs have one or two):
snip!
3. The easy PvE and lack of team building requirements allowing a team to be composed of whomever wants to come instead of needing a specific combination of roles.
4. Content being almost entirely instanced which combined with the difficulty settings allowed for easy ability to play how you wanted to without impacting others. -
Quote:The robots and the necros are easy to 'pack up' on the life-giving spores.I've got a Necro/Nature who's been fun to level, and I could see bot/nature being strong as well.
As for ninjas, I'd argue that their best pairing by far is Time, not FF. Time gets them (and you) at the soft cap, with some -acc as buffer space, and you have a lot of other mitigation. Recharge redux, damage redux, and a -res/-def debuff to help kill faster. Not to mention the AoE heal. -
-
I have to add, CoH doesn't require 30 minutes of rolling to see who gets what loot dropped after each and every mission/taskforce.

The original poster is correct in all detail and additions.
The concept I like most about City of Heroes/Villains: you can make whatever genre you wanted. There are the flying witches of croata with electric blast/storm summoning. You have the alien kheldians. You can create your own aliens. You can be a robot, mad scientist, or a fighting rooster ( I was pwned by one in Bloody Bay), a cowboy, a troll, a revolutionary war soldier, a pirate, a futuristic soldier in the RWZ, You can even be your very own original superhero or archvillain! As stated, there are billions of costume permutations.
I looked but not extra-careful, I might have missed. You can have 3 (three) alternate builds for each character if you are feeling like teaming or PuGging, or super-future or arcane. This to me was a HUGE consideration of characters I intentionally had special designs for such as the potential permutation of powers AND slotting of say a Rad/rad defender/corruptor.
Storm/fire doesn't resemble an empathy/ice, but some of my Rad/rads look nothing like my other Rad/rads -
From my experience, dark and thermal do a very good job of keeping zombies upright. I started a lowbie zombie/natural guy as well to check that out. Robots do well with anything. I avoid FF on robots because it gets pretty boring. Thugs and Demons are fairly self-sufficient, too. Ninjas I found best paired with forcefields because they ARE so squishy and scramble all around debuff/buff auras, but the 'buff and go' nature of nature affinity and time would do well I presume with the ninjas.
I do take the necro extract, gang war and living hellfires. On robots, if I am lookiing for a decent fill power, I will take photon grenade, not for damage, but to stack with the protector bots stun aoe's. Depending on the secondary, I usually take repair on robots, but often it isn't needed. -
If anyone is paying attention to these things anymore, I am finding the Robot/Nature Affinity build to be simply amazing. I based by character as an homage to the Bruce Dern 70s sci fi movie Silent Running. My mastermind is called Quiet Sprinting.
I may not find out how it plays at the highest levels, but the regen, heal, resistance and robot defense seem to be a very strong mix even not being close to soft cap defense. The robots like to stand in a regen patch and and blast away at the foes of earth's forests. -
The only semi-clever thing I did was to cure the Lost boss at the end of the SSA 1.1. It was really funny though.

Maybe we could free the 'mad man' from the storm palace.

Quote:If I could keep playing? Without Reservation!!I'd love to make this a poll, but can't find how, so I'll just ask.
If all your characters were deleted, your veteran status, everything (even forum posts), and you had to start from scratch, would you still continue to play this game, or would it be too much of a setback? -
I remember less than a minute after logging in my first character, some passerby gave me an awaken.
I remember failing respec trials.
I remember finding Pete at the end of a backloaded Lost mission I thought would never end.
I remember the first 8 man all-defender team just wiping everything in Talos Island. -
Dark Legend is a permanent member of the Triumphant Defenders. I am glad to have come to know you and your dad.

I am building alternate builds for all my characters to fly when the world stops spinning
-
A storm defender is/was as different from an empath as a tank is from a blaster
-
Here are some words from a sentimental song. It's not the best song, but it's how I feels.
"If the world should stop revolvin' spinning slowly down to die
I'd spend the end with you
And when the world was through
Then one by one the stars would all go out
Then you and I would simply fly away" -
Our team played show and tell with the CoH Powers tab and couldn't produce a screen that showed any +end from lifegiving spores even with two patches down. Is that because the +end is so small over a four second tick?

There are a lot of good solid mastermind combos. You will NOT be disappointed with thugs/dark; it has a lot of tools.
