A pretty rubbish cone (knockback aaaaaarghhhh!)
[/ QUOTE ]
I have been playing a sonic/nrg blapper (lvl 16 so far, whoot) and I love that rubbish cone shockwave! Buildup, then howl and then shockwave... anything not dead is on the floor giving me a couple of seconds to run in shout at them, energy punch them and powerthrust that annoying boss away
Teams seem to like it so far
Shockwave is like supersonic gale. It's the fabbest -
soloing an emp makes you feel like the king of the world!
duoing with another empath makes you feel like some sort of strange god -

I've never had so much fun playing pvp before
[/ QUOTE ]
totally agree with this sentiment
3vP so far gets a big thumbs up from me.
It's a shame that it sounds like a real headache to sort out because I think the game and the community could really benefit from more things like this.
Here's to a continuing successful tournament -

Eat Static should be in 2 lives afaik.
[/ QUOTE ]
no, it's right - I'm one 1 life
Would anyone believe that I'm trying to knock myself out before my holiday in a few weeks? -
I hadn't noticed that... heheh
Should be fun, looking forward to being beaten to a bloody pulp -

I have no major end problems in pvp and I run - Steamy Mist, Hover, Snow Storm, Temp Invuln, Tactics, Assault, plus using click powers from my primary and secondary sets.
[/ QUOTE ]
that's just showing off!
I run steamy mist, superspeed, superjump, snowstorm and hurricane + attack loads and my endurance is a nightmare in PvE and PvP (couldn't get away with hover the superjumpers got away too quick from me so I ended up going with the superspeed superjump combo). I slot 2 end redux in nearly all my storm powers too -
Well, many congratulations Psy-
Very well deserved!!
Here's a little picture I captured of the moment:

With 'healing' you feel like you're doing something...until you get into a good team, where no healing is needed. At that point, empathy becomes nothing more than handing out fort, auras and AB when they're available, which is boring as hell.
[/ QUOTE ]
when/if this happens there is time to enjoy the nice chatting and just being with nice ppl in a nice team.
There is more to gaming than just healing,or hitting ppl in the face.
[/ QUOTE ]
yeah, and then there is the deliberatly drawing aggro to start getting people in trouble so you can heal for a bit -
Quick query...
I realised last night that there will be one week (should be quite early on in the competition) where I am away due to being on holiday... I don't really want to pull out of the competition so would it be OK to appoint a reserve for my match that week? I would nominate them well in advance so that there wouldn't be any question of who was actually filling my shoes... -
task force saturday? :P

[ QUOTE ]
Bah, again with the Sundays....
[/ QUOTE ]
agreed, boohoo -
Well that saves me having to sign up
But yeah, I will be there!! -
have been PvPing in sirens a fair bit... don't think there are always more heroes than villains - can remember quite a few times when heroes have been fairly outnumbered and pushed back to the hospital... and villains have swapped sides to come and help the heroes out
-
[ QUOTE ]
Heh, with kinetics, the buffs stay up when the minion drops! Woohoo!
[/ QUOTE ]
ah true...
Unless you cast fulcrum as the bad guy drops and then you don't get any buffage at all... so sad -
[ QUOTE ]
Personally, I'm dead lazy so anything that has to keep recasting debuffs on -every- -single- -mob- gets old very, very quickly solo.
[/ QUOTE ]
surely there is an element of casting powers (not necessarily debuffs) on every single mob before a defender can effectivly solo??
Storm: snow storm, freezing rain, fluffy cloud, attack!
Kinetics: siphon power, siphon speed, fulcrum, attack!
Trick Arrow: Glue, Oil, Gas, attack!
Dark: Tarpit, Darkest night, attack!
Or maybe that's just how I solo -
well.. maybe the changes mentioned for TA in I7 will improve their ability in PvP then... although, I guess they aren't changing the animation times.
gives me a while to get my little one lvled up in that case -
don't think I've ever seen one of these in the zones... well OK in sirens as I don't really go in the others... are they any good?
-
we should aim to have it done and dusted in 4 hours I reckon
-
Hi Untouchable!
If I'd been playing a brute in CoV and was coming over to experience CoH tanking I think I would go for powers you can't get in CoV.
So maybe consider an Ice Tank? They seem quite popular at the moment - seem to see quite a few running around at the early lvls...
Secondary choices would be: Ice, Battle Axe or War Mace (I think... I don't play CoV much so can't remember exactly what the choices are!!)
Of course... if you have a particular idea in mind with your tank it might effect which set you go for -
you missed orion star from your list?
Anyway, I'd like to come please! Even if it pushes it over into the realms of hard... I like a challenge
(I can't say which toon I'll be bringing yet as I'm at work (sobs) and I can't see which toons need the badge... or if I have anything currently in range...) -
Storm is pretty good for soloing - as others have mentioned.
The knockback from gale/hurricane/tornado just really gives you that extra bit of breathing space.
And it has lovely wow factor powers -
hehe
Damn right I would have been... missing 3vP for a hospital appointment would have been soooo unfair... lucky I got home in time -
Character name: Eat Static
Global Handle: @Psygon
Archetype: Defender
Powersets: Storm/Electric -
Any news/ideas on when the signs up will start? Or if there is enough interest yet?
-
[ QUOTE ]
So is any defender.
I just find it more challenging to ensure mobs are clustered around debuffs from sonic/rad/dark, or continually knockbacked from storm/force fields, etc.
Gives the team more to do and think about it. And if its done well, pays huge dividends.
[/ QUOTE ]
agreed to a certain extent.
The problem I find with other defenders (and this comes from playing an empath, a kinetics and a stormy...) is that in order to get the best out of the powers you bring to the team you require a certain amount of buy in from the people you play with.
Take for example the stormy's knockback and dispersion techniques. A stand and taunt tank isn't going to really like you chucking the mobs around (particularly a stone tank)
Or a kinetics, any ranged player is going to have to understand pretty quickly that in order to get any heals they really are going to have to run in for heals and endurance regain.
Sure, both things can work fantastically when the team knows how it works and what the defender does... but I've found with PuGs that unless you've teamed with that type of defender before you're not going to fully appreciate what it is your defender is doing.
I'm not saying empaths are better... but they don't require the team to have to learn anything in order to succeed, so more often than not a team with an Empath will appear to do better than a team with, say, a stormy.
My comments are about 85% based around teaming in PuGs btw... a group of people that team regularly won't ever really experience any probs from any type of defender... normally
