Going to go with Kin/Elec scrapper. Why? Well, because. That's why.
-
If you're specifically looking for damage, I'd recommend a Corruptor over a Defender. Fire/Kin is always fun, I also enjoy DP/Kin, Archery/Kin, heck just about anything works well with it.

No problems here.
I see you're in EU, wasn't there some issue with EU customers getting into Beta? Or am I all mixed up (which is a distinct possibility)? -
I'd get Arctic Air late in the build, as Amy Amp mentioned you will have Heat Loss and that will greatly offset any endurance issues you may have, especially if you have a pleasant amount of global recharge.
Snow Storm is skippable, even on my Cold/Sonic I rarely end up using it. Flash Freeze is skippable, but if you want a cheapish purple set it's a decent place for it. -
This reminds me of how much I hate the Synapse TF. Haven't done it for at least 3 years now, I intend to keep that streak going until the end of time (or until the TF is changed, anyway).

My ceramic smoker is shattered & my neighbor's carport fell over on his car. Some water lines burst, too.
As far as being nuked... that's a definite thought in the mind of those that live relatively close to the Norfolk Shipyards. -

I like these, but not as much as the original old ones. I know that sounds a little nitpicky but considering I absolutely abhorred the other "new" CoT... I'm fine with this.

Quote:Flashbang grenades are actually pretty different from smoke grenades due to the massive -tohit and...-def? I think it's -def.Sonic Grenade is just a clone of Disruption Arrow from Trick Arrow. Flashbang grenades have the same effect as Smoke Grenade from devices, just different visuals. Ballistas are just FF/Energy defenders with Elite Boss HP and some Energy Melee powers thrown in. There really isn't much unique about Longbow or PPD powers.
And part of what I would like about a Longbow EAT is the ability to pretty much mix and match from a variety of archetypes and powersets. It is that variety that to me would make it worthwhile...and a 'low-hanging fruit', sort of. -
I have an Elec/Fire scrapper that's built just for playing. 35% S/L defense, comparable energy/negative defense. Global recharge is something like 50%, not a huge amount. For farming ambush maps it is okay. For farming normal game missions it's not all that hot because enemies flee like crazy. Yes, I have a deadly alpha strike. If I had made the toon for farming purposes I would definitely have gone for a Brute for the taunt factor as well as the higher fire resist.

Traps is one of the most fun powersets I've ever played. I would recommend rolling a Corr, though, so you'll have a little more killing power on your duo. Other than that I'd think maybe Cold Domination or Dark Miasma.

When I made this thread I had a feeling you were going to reply to it and that your reply would be that. That's just another reason this game feels like "home" to me. The kind of frequent interactions with the people behind the game so that you can predict with a reasonable amount of success their reactions to certain questions. No matter how many other games I try I always end up back in Paragon City because it feels like home to me.

His foot used to keep zones from loading on my old PC.

...other than it's about superheroes, what would it be?
Now, let me explain what made me think of this question. When you talk to non-gamers about games it seems that some things are common knowledge about certain games. Things like, "Oh, is that the game with the real long dungeons?" or "I don't have enough spare time to be able to do the prerequisites for the prerequisites for the prequisites of the prerequisite dungeons for the end-game dungeons in that game," or even, "Oh, that's the one where you fly, right?" Heck, even a lot of shooter games have some things that are common knowledge. For instance when I was relating a story about a couple online friends to some friends I was having lunch with they interrupted me with, "Is that the game where you play some terrorist in an airport?"
So... if you could have everyone know just one important thing about City of Heroes... what would that one thing be?
For me it would be "Variety". There is just so much variety in City of Heroes. Character customization is taken to a whole new level with costume parts, powers (and different animations and color options for many of those powers), enhancements so that the same powers from two different people will not necessarily behave exactly the same, story arcs with various villains and heroes making appearances, the ability to make your own missions or to play the missions of your friends or complete strangers... there's just a heck of a lot of variety. -
Quote:Oh, come on. Really? There is plenty of room for a Longbow EAT. Sonic grenades, flashbangs (which are PPD, come to think of it), the ability to 'summon' assistance from lower ranks of Longbow, a wide variety of powers that could be interspersed in a single character... it'd be very interesting. I'd look at it as more of a Ballista than a Warden, probably.Roll up an AR/Devices blaster. Or you can make any type of character out there and call them a Longbow Warden.
I hadn't thought about a Rikti EAT, that would make a kind of sense as well. I'd be interested to see how that gets fleshed out into powersets. -
I would have loved to have had Longbow as heroic EAT. If you look to the Gold then there are a few options there as well. One o' dem dere rocket-backpack dudes. That'd be sweet.
But yeah... I would like a Longbow option. Vanguard as well. -
Fearsome Stare? -ToHit. Personally I slot the tentacles either for damage or Enfeebleds for S/L/Melee defense, but that's just me. And I think if they have Negative Energy Resistance then they'll resist a portion of the debuff... but I honestly don't remember how that works for sure.
Edit: And if you have Power Boost or Power Build Up your Fearsome Stare becomes even more amazing. -
You're probably better off posting this in the Freedom forums.

On my Traps/DP, Dreadtek, I am typically the first in. I put down the Poison Gas Trap first, toss out Caltrops because it's fast, then drop a mortar. After the mortar is down I'm using the T9 blast. Hail of Bullets? I forget. Very gun-mojo power. Most stuff is dead by now.
For AV fights I put down the seekers to bring the AV's damage down to near zero, put down the poison gas traps & mortars, and rock their socks with some toxic ammo if the seekers missed. -
Damn you, potato! Damn you to Praetoria!

Quote:This post right here is why I should never go to the forums while still half-asleep.I've decided to upload a video I made a while back that will show you everything you need to know to run one of these maps.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yi5t9g50bYM
The only thing I didn't do in this video was show the hand grenade temp power. Get that at the market for nothing and use it. Makes this even faster. Keep in mind that this is with bosses on.
I clicked the video link and promptly forgot about it. Then my computer started making terrible sounds, it sounded like the fans were going berserk. I shut the computer down fast.
I wait a little bit, turned it back on, everything is fine as it loads up... I open up Firefox again and shortly afterward my computer starts making those terrible sounds again. I'm panicking, thinking my new computer is dying and I've only had it a few months.
I shut the PC down again, this time by holding the power key down. Not exactly healthy for a PC. I go downstairs, grab a drink, come back upstairs, decide to take my shower, then come back to the PC, cross my fingers, turn it back on.
I load up Firefox again and there's that sound - dagnabit, I left the headset on top of the PC. It was the sound of the video starting in a different tab.
