    Player Toxicity

I've noticed that people are getting more abusive on the forums as well, usually around hot topics like farming, PLing, and changes to existing parts of the game. By and large, however, this is probably the friendliest and most helpful gaming community I've been a part of.
  2. My renewal was the 21st and I didn't get my token. Boo!
  3. I am not exactly sure what it would be. Some sort of 'command experience' that unlocks access to special team-based powers (temp or permanent), maybe? Maybe access to new day jobs or something. I don't know.

I just know that it would be nice for there to be a smallish incentive for leading teams to maybe get people out of the "LFT" habit and instead get out there and get them going.

I'm not suggesting anything game-breaking here, I think. A long-recharge rez temp power would be nice. A team recall w/ a few charges would be excellent.

Very true. I'm trying to only post things from reputable sellers, hence no ebay auctions (where you never know) and fly-by-night places.

And yes, the Amazon marketplace does have some of those unreputable people there... be sure when it says 'new' they don't try to swerve you in the details.

    ....true story.
  6. Ladies and gents, this thread is for listing websites that have boxed editions of City of Heroes for less than it would cost to purchase a month of VIP access. A quick reminder: You can not apply the same boxed edition's code twice to the same account. However, for those of us with two accounts (one recent, and probably Premium) this can be very handy. For those of you new to the game that want to give VIP a try without spending too much for your first taste (Caution: You will be addicted!) feel free to give these sites a try.

Keep in mind that sales are for a finite amount of time, so be sure you check the page carefully and see how much the product costs, the shipping, etc.

Consumer Depot : **Architect Edition** : $2 (USD). I am not positive what will come with Architect Edition other than the basic month of VIP. They used to offer you the choice of the Magic or Cyborg Super Boosters, but do not know if they will now that the Paragon Market has taken over. Buyer beware.

    Amazon.com **Architect Edition** : $9

Amazon.com **Good vs. Evil Edition**: $10 Good vs Evil edition comes with the Justice & Sinister costume sets as well as the Pocket D transporter and a Jump Pack.

Amazon.com **City of Heroes** $1.50 This is the basic game. To be completely honest I am not positive if this will give a month of VIP access... but next time I order from Amazon I'll be getting it to see.

Amazon.com **City of Villains** $3-7.50 . Again, not sure if this will convey a month of VIP access... but I think it will.

Others that spot sales or deals, please feel free to contribute. Let's help put more butts in these seats, people!

(Note: I got permission to post this thread, so it should not be against forum rules.)

    Looks like it, yeah.
  8. I can't actually change my weapons to Shock Rifle or Devastator. It changes the color of the weapon I have, but my costume does not otherwise change. I tried adding the vampire cape to one as well, but with the weapon switch it didn't save.
  9. The reason given (and it was not the only reason, just the one given explicitly) that they removed the AE license from the market *for now* was that Mission Architect takes up a ridiculous amount of resources. So, they could either make it available to everyone to the detriment of the rest of the game's performance (crashes, lag, disconnects) or wait until they get a good view of what the servers are doing with the increased load of free players, make adjustments, and then maybe bring it back.
  10. For me, I have zero clue what is going on in that trial. I've run it twice now, and doubt I'll ever do it again. The flashy text pops up and I'm like? What? What does that mean? In the first stages when you're picking up blinkies and trying to use the powers on the terminals I would get the message that Warworks were nearby when there were NONE nearby, which was confusing. The whole trial seemed like a massive clusterpancake and at the end people congratulated each other on a smooth run.

    ...no thank you.
  11. I am going to suggest a Energy Melee/Shield Defense Brute. You don't see too many of them (at least, I don't) and they pack a really mean punch.
  12. I'd file a support ticket on it just to be sure. Maybe they can work with you on it, I do not know.

A few years ago I filed a support ticket because I had just purchased a time card for CoH and the website told me the card had already been used. The GM said not only had the code already been used, but that *I* had used it a couple years ago. I was SOL. I can't imagine the statistical possibility that not only would the same code be printed twice but that I would get it both times.
  13. ...if I couldn't afford to play, then I wouldn't play. No TV, no cable, no phone, no internet - just work, work, work.

Can you trade those inspirations? I dunno, I wouldn't waste money on them anyway.
  16. Got mine too, about 9 days ahead of schedule.

Somebody requested this in the chat and I said I'd give it a shot. Downloaded the recording, converted it to WMV, cropped it to like 4 seconds, threw it in a Video->Gif animator, put the resulting gif in GIMP, took out some excess frames. Here ya go. It's not really well-looped, but hope you like it anyway.
  19. That sword looks terrible. I doubt they'd release it looking like that, though. Could also be the in-game lighting, I suppose.
  20. As long as you can get the regular (and purple, and PvP) IOs in-game normally I'm completely fine with them being sold in the store as well. I never use the purples or PvP IOs personally anyway - and I don't feel inferior to players that do.
  21. I enjoyed running 5 Crab Spiders regularly through content, it was a blast. Everyone (and their pets!) was softcapped to all types of defense. Massive AoE damage, and the pets... oh man, the pets. It's fairly simple for each of the 5 Crabs to put out 3 Spiderlings, 2 Disruptors (or are they Blasters?), and a Blaster (or Disruptor... I get'm mixed up). Once you get incarnates you could add a Toxic Tarantula & Bane Spider to that a third of the time :P

But having 5 Crabs also meant +150% damage for everyone and their pets.... it was obscene.
  22. Q: (See, if this was a Ustream, there'd be a nifty little icon there) If I am trying to make a point, and to make that point I have to summarize a particular system from another game, am I allowed to do that? For example (and this is totally made up): "In FREEMonline the PvP system is the main part of the game, and the method by which players gain better equipment and such. It is a 'random loot' system, in which when you are killed your killers (or teammates) may loot a single piece of your equipment, at random, from your defeated body. This sort of system just flat-out would not work in City of Heroes, it would change things far too much."
  23. Beam/Time corr. One of the most fun characters I've ever played. Easy to softcap to common damage types, and you have a hefty debuff to help reduce enemies' chances to hit you and your team further. You do good damage, especially on harder targets. You have a small amount of -regen to help on AVs. You have a good heal, and you have great buffs/debuffs.

If it is a PS/2 connected mouse do NOT disconnect it while the computer is running. Shut the PC down before disconnecting it.

You still receive tokens for points purchased. I bought $50 worth of points (still have almost 1k points left) and received my tokens after a few minutes.
