The person with the start doesn't have to lead the team. The person of the star just has the ability to add or delete people from the team.

As a Wonka fan, I have to point out that Violet Beauregarde was the child who turned into a blueberry, and it was Veruca Salt who sang the "I Want It Now" song in the first movie version of the book.

(Although, in the book, it wasn't Golden Egg laying geese that proved to be Veruca's downfall, but a trained squirrel who could tell a bad nut or not)
  4. Shotenfreude. Originally an AR/Traps corrupter, rerolled him as a TA/Psi Defender, will probably reroll him come I16 as a AR/Psi defender.

His description is a transcription from a certain song from a certain musical involving puppets.
  5. This thread http://boards.cityofheroes.com/showthread.php?t=183872 is where I'm trying to address at the very least the colors, so the user can set them how ever they want. Other functionality tbd.

I'm probably going to wait about a week to see what changes, if any, are made to the forums, but I'd be up for helping out with this effort after that.

Edit: Greasemonkey, on the other hand, could be used to add some cool functionality to the forums. I'll have to think about that as well.
Well, one of the big things I miss from the old forums is alternating row colors, so I don't know if Stylish can do that, while I figure Greasemonkey can.
  7. So I love some things about the new forums. Something I don't like about the forums are how it looks. The colors and the large background image, however, I'm not so crazy about.

I've been putzing around with Greasemonkey for other things. Greasemonkey, for those who don't know, is a client side scripting process that allows users of various websites to change the look and feel of the site to their whim.

I've not had much chance to play with it, though, and figured creating a script to change the settings of the forums would be a neat little test.

Here's an image of the site normally: http://www.greenjournal.net/images/unalteredCoH.png.

Here's an image of the site after messing around with Greasemonkey for an hour: http://www.greenjournal.net/images/modifiedCoH.png.

I took out the background image, and the header image, and changed the pale blue-green color scheme to a brighter blue on black background.

The power of Greasemonkey is that if and when I make this script useable to the world (ie - you folks) you can change these colors to what ever you want as well, or make what ever changes you want.

I'm no HTML guru, a lot of my code is copied and pasted from various Greasemonkey tutorials, so I'm sure there's improvements to be made. And as this doesn't change anything on the server, only how certain html elements are presented in your browser, this, to my knowledge, doesn't break any permissions on the CoH fourms either.

I will keep people updated if there is any interest.

Love the DJ badges. Hoping I can pull off the earn them all in one day feat...

    [/ QUOTE ]
I've got an alt working on that just for the sake of a "fun experiment" but I'm not worrying about that for my main badgers.

    [/ QUOTE ]
So out of curiosity, what is this whole "earn all the Day Job badges in one day" thing? Does it involve rotating a toon through all DJ badge locations until the progress on each one is just a SLIVER below 100%, and then doing a DJ badge location "tour" one day and logging out for short periods of time, only long enough to receive that badge before repeating the process in the next location?

If not, then I'm mystified by the whole thing (and in any case I'm kind of confused as to why "doing them all in one day" [which you really aren't, actually] is significant...).

    [/ QUOTE ]

That's excatly what it is, get everything to 99.99% then spend a day earning them.

As for the reason for doing it? Because it's giving an otherwise mundane task a life of its own? Because it's just fun? Because I like spreadsheets? Because I can?

It's going to take the same amount of days to get the day job badges, if I'm doing them all in one day or if I earn them sequentially. If you're going to do something, why not do it with a bit of style?

And, I really am earning them all in one period of 24 consecutive hours, even if it requires 220 * 24 hours of setup.
  10. I just hope they announce any new day job badges before I decide to get them all. I'd hate to go through all the effort to earn them all in one day, only to find out there are some more to earn.

Figure out what? That when you bid on things then go to chat this is very reproducible? Or that movement keys also show up?
Where do you use movement keys? In the non editable sections.
There was never an indication that the non editable section was the big missing piece.

Sorry. The new character from I16:

His story (until the end) reads like a mix between the Wolverine and Iron Man movies. It's a good read, but it seems like they would have made more of an effort to not sound so much like another well-known hero.

The comic world is so populated with well worn tropes that it's very hard not to trip over a few. Almost every character has the "It's like character A and character B combined, but with power C instead of D."

    This is true for:
    CoH/V canon characters
    Marvel characters
    DC characters
-insert your favorite Indy publisher- characters
-insert character you just made yesterday-

THIS! Also, good to know that using /bug means absolutely nothing. Note to self: give up on /bug.

    [/ QUOTE ]

One thing where /bug can be useful is situations where location or various game states might be part of the issue, either in fixing or triggering the bug.

They've said in the past that /bug captures a lot of values and game state data when it's submitted. It may take a while for said data to churn through the process, but 2+ weeks from log to dev and 30 seconds to replicate is a lot better than hearing it on the boards and unable to reproduce.

I'm not saying this is the case for the STF bug, but more of a general thing.

Also, not saying this as an apologist, just a Non-Paragon non-NCSoft software developer who knows the values of internal logging for bugs assigned to him in his Non-Paragon Non-NCSoft job and who likes to play devil's advocate.

Edit: also, someone jokingly said this, that QA has to verify and all and couldn't get pass GW and Mako.

If they're using any sort of internal tool to insta-kill the lieuts, or to trigger a Lord Recluse spawn on an otherwise empty map of the last mission while trying to reproduce the bug, something in said tool could be preventing the bug from occurring. Thus they can't reproduce, and thus the bug doesn't get moved up.

$DEITY knows I've had to talk with some of the people from QA at my job for logging bugs caused only when certain things occur with our internal tools.

Originally, before epics, D3 meant Dark/Dark Defender. Therefore, D4, using the same nomiclature, would be Dark/Dark/Dark Defender. At least that was what I saw all over Virtue in the I0, I1 days.

And yes, I did see D3s in the I0 days.

Not sure how it is on other servers, but that's my 2 bits.
  24. So there's an alternate way to handle this, covered in the link in my sig.

Play your main badger character as normal. You can't play them 24/7. When you don't play them, log them off in a location. Try to get each day job credit to about 99.9%. Then make sure you don't go back to that location.

Once all day job badges meters are 99.9%, spend one Saturday running around the various locations, earning all day job badges in one day.

You're going to the badges anyways, why not try and do it with a bit of style...

In the end, day job badges mean I can be badgeing while at work, not sure how that's a bad thing.
