Highest Damage Single Target Attack would be a Moonshot from a Darkblast/Energy blaster. And coincidentaly that is the longest ranged player attack in the game as well.
-
The stalker experience for me isnt about only running to the end and teleporting the rest of the team...although i do that alot.....it also isnt about taking on the biggest and hardest targets.
For me its about the ability to hide and being not detected by most enemies....and the perks and abilities that come with that.
I find my play style to be all over the board with a stalker....as sometimes i have even tanked for groups....other times i was simply a back up damage dealer.
I do find for the most part that I tend to be a back up jack-of-all trades player.
In that i deliberatly may run forward and scout ahead......and if other players are doing that alot....then i let them do it......
I do have recall friend...on purpose i use that to not only go to the end and transport but also to pull dead characetrs out of the combat areas and then rez them...i can get the ability at level 4 so i can use my hide and recall powers on any mission or trial or task force...whihc makes my stalkers sometimes more valuable then other players like onthe hollows trial.
I try to make sure i have completed my pysician and proffessor day jobs so i can get the rez ally power..
I also in combat when i am with the team i will either accompany the tanks/brutes/whatever is tanking...becasue they take aggro and i can kill as i wish and i also watch out for the blasters and controllers and defenders and corruptors and dominators....i more or less play a bodyguard many times....
And this has nothing to do with whether or not they are squishy or dieing....its because i am getting rid of the idiot targets that are disturbing them from actualy using their powers on other players or enemies.
Thats how i play a stalker...... -
I dont know much about what would make a good synergy....
But i took the Energy Secondary...becasue i thought it might be nice to increase the disitegration effects or increase the ranges of the attacks...
And I too dont like doing alot of melee ranged attacks....and so i end up using the energy first attack power alot to smack the enemies away from me if they get too close.
So i guess ia msuggesting that you try energy as a secondary....maybe it will work out for you...or maybe not....
Like i said i dont know what makes good synergies...but i like the combinations i make and play on characters i have. -
Seriously i said this on another thread too...
If you find people are not inviting you to say for example the Imperious Task force....due to your level or Archtype.....you need to Switch servers....
I might be hyping a bit too much...but on Guardian Server that sort of thing...just doesnt happen....if it does it is so infrequent....its like some weird myth almost on that server. -
Let me understand....you are doing nothing but the sewer trial(death from below obviously since it doesnt get effected by the MERTy thing) and the exp to leveling ratio has begun to slow down....so you want to know what to do to level faster.
Ok thats easy...not sure why you showed your build....
All you need to do is get into some task forces and do those...
As for the build....it will work but you have alot of holes....with using normal crafted enhancements of those levels....you will easily have the equivilent of SOs.....so might want to slot the kuji in retsu power for at least 1 defense, and 1 recharge, probably 2 recharges would be best so you can actively use it.....
You will want to make sure your armors are six sloted....the hide power...you are not going to get much more defense out of it.....with those three you are now probably getting close to 3.5% defense to all when it is supressed.
you want to make sure your attack that gives you more defense is six slotted as well....that way you will be able to survive longer due to more defense....
In your kuji sha power make sure you slot recharges....since you have the health recovery coming back at the pretty much maximum for the power at this time....
Not sure why you slotted recall friend...but i guess you have a reason....
kujiinrin needs to have recharge added to it....
you said you only had 3 million to spend.....you can get more eventualy....so you want to invest in a few things that will help you a million percent....on and beyond what the couch quarter back players are telling you.....since they dont seam to play ninjitsu much....whihc is noticable.
By now you have noticed your hole....the huge hole.....knockback....the most annoyign weakness.
Spend your 3 million and try and get the karma defense knock resisatnce IO....slot that into your hide.....if you can get 2 all the better.....and put the second one somewhere...doesnt matter where.....that will give you knock back resistance of +8 and that will be enough to no longer care too much about knock back.
You spent chunks on thos IOs....so ok next issue....you wanrt to get some set IOs....doesnt matter really which but your best bets would be crushing blow...its cheap to buy.....you want to try and slot those sets into your atatcks if possible.....the combination of set bonus should increase your powers exponentialy.
Now i suggested you do task forces....you will get merits for doing so....also try to get people to kill giant monsters with you....you get merits fromthat too.....take those merits and spend them on a specific set IO enahcnement from performance shifter that will give you every so often +5 endurence.....also slot the stamina at least 2 slots so you can put the enahcnemnt from performance shifter in that gives better endurance recovery as well.....that gives you a set bonus and extra energy.
anywise thats what advice i can give...for the 3 million you have.....and for building.
As for leveling....as i said...do task forces.
Try to do them all....work onthe task froce commander accolade for the bonus power it gives to your energy and health....Task force commander you get awared when you do all 6 of the main task forces....or all of the villain strike forces.
If you are having trouble either on villain or hero side....you can always do your tip missions and change aligment...then you can do the other sides task forces as well. -
I wonder if this story will reveal who it was that created that time vortex in First Ward.
I mean we can see the body fo the seed of Hamidon already dead....yet it keeps coming back floating around....also it doesnt progress much further...becasue it obviously is recreated due to some sci-fi-esque temporal system.
And i wonder why the vortex is made...just who exactly was brought back to life with it.....and who exactly are they.....whomever it was...it was very important to someone to do so.....
Reminds me of the Star Gate Episode where the one scientist was trying to bring back his dead wife...but insteasd kept creating a localized time dilation effect that made colonel o'neil and Teulk get stuck in a temporal loop.
But in this case....whomever it was...succeeded...and who ever it was they where trying to save may or may not realize it. -
I have to be honest...i dont know why but playing ninjustsu i do feel like it doesnt give as much defense as its power description says it does.....it isnt the greatest defense set either....but it works ok....seams a bit endurence heavy at times...not sure why that is....but i guess thats just the way it is designed...it does give you an extra placate power though and a confusion power.
I find if you want more forgiving sets you might try Energy Aura or Dark Armor.....only thing is with those sets is that they tend to not have any way to supress their FX....thus you will always stay as a dark cloud or bright shiney bulb....And Dark Armor is mostly resistance...with energy armor mostly defense....I meantion this last bit becasue that may determine your individual play style with each.
I am surprised you didnt enjoy willpower very much....but seeing that you dont like willpower....i dont think you are going to really like Ninja armor any better...to me they kind of play very much the same way...though in willpower you dont have to have a power constanty on auto-click to make it give you resistance to stuns and things...
I too suggest you avoid regeneration on your stalker....i have said in other places why...and it looks like others have tried it and noticed the same things.
As for the other defenses....well they work....i have personaly been too worried about trying ICE becasue it seams like every power in that set seams to give mostly protection from Cold with some fire and barely anything else....though that might be just a Knee Jerk Reaction becasue it is new and different.
Oh one other thing....since you are trying ninja armor....get your self some knock-back resistance invention origins if you can use them.....if you can't use those invention items....then you might consider getting acrobatics.....as knockback is a pain....and its useful to not be effected by it much. -
wow...i know what you are refering to...the duplicates of you from those missons...
When i said dopplegangers i meant liek the one you face in the Positron Task Force....or the one that appears in the mission where it gets summoned to kill you.
Dopplegangers are usaly your shape...but black in color.....if you taget them they say Doppleganger but you will notice they say they are members of your super group.
The will be able to use all your powers plus a few more....but for stalkers they tend to not use the hide or placate...but will using the blinding powder and the mass placate effect from ninjitsu.
The ones fromthat one mission...which i did not too long ago....yes they do say doppleganager....but they dont really act like the doppleganagers iw as refering to.
Oh and speaking of placate...in the Synapse Task force.....there are a couple of missions you will find the placate wont work on the clockwork for whatever reason not exatly sure why either.....kind of makes sense in a story fashion or for how the power works and what the clockwork are....but it is kind of interesting to note. -
Regenration on a stalker is sub-par its a set i would suggest you avoid...
The entire power set of regenration works based on your health inthis case percentages based on your current health....the Stalker Health rating is always low....and it cannot go very high ever even with powers that increase the maximum....
The problem lies in that issue.
Because you will always get hit with maximum damage.....yes there are some powers inthe set that sort of let you resist damage...a whopping 1% here or there...for a whopping 3% resistance...
let me put it a different way...moment of glory...on tank sets them at 2% health...2% health of a tank with that power is about 10 or 20 usaly....now 2% on a stalker about 2 to 5....have you ever not done 1 or 2 damage minimum on something with that power running?
Thats the issue.....in a nutshell...the stalker uses it...but gets hit and killed anywise....the best so-called defense power in the set cant even save the stalker most of the time.
And what about the heals in regeneration...yes thats what makes it good....becasue it all based on the stalkers maximum health those heals actualy heal less most of the time then say your standard inspirations.....and thats a huge issue...
i am sure...alot of people will say but you can slot this and that with IOs or whatever to make up for the problems.....but thats a problem in itself.....the IOs and Origins are not supposed to be mandatory things...they are supposed to be options.
For attack sets...claws is probably the weakest....as it only does lethal damage and does less damage then most other sets..
but it does attack faster....and thus technicaly slotting it with certain IOs and such can really make it work really well...becasue more attacks means more chance of some IO with a special effect going off.
but again...IOs should not be mandatory..and thus...the set would proibably rank last on a list of best attack sets for stalkers. -
Quote:Wow...=O_O=Welcome to issue 6. Its been like this since the begining and nothing will ever change till we get a dev with balls who actually plays stalkers and not pretends to play them. Just be glad they let you join the tf. Normally on servers the typical response is "lol stalkers" when you try to join anything. Its only gotten worse since freedom since its easier to start villains on heroside now.
Mew is going to be serious about this....but if you are truly having trouble with getting on a team being a stalker.....or....you get people who laugh at you for playing one....
Switch to Guardian Server now....that does not happen on that server.
The only LOL you might get for being a stalker and joining a TF will be when there are 5 other Stalkers...and the LOL is because they know they are going to annihilate the entire TF.
In fact Timed Savior on a few occasions has run Eden Trials and a few other Task Forces with Nothing but Stalkers.... -
Quote:Actualy the shock was that everyone on the team had made pseudo stalkers....Less potential damage than scrappers and brutes
Less hitpoints than than than scrappers brutes and tanks
You gave up the hitpoints for the gimmicky hide/assassin strike mechanism that is also deliberately gimped because sometime long ago someone was worried it would be overpowered, and this was confirmed because a loony quickly leveled themselves in beta off of mission complete bonuses.
Seriously does it come as a shock to you ? Stalkers in this game aren't Jason Voorhes and if they are Michael Meyers its the balding accountant version
I get used to be the only one that usualy can do super stealth and teleport the team and end up rezing everyone better then the healers...=^_^=
But this team...wow they did almost every single one of mews tricks but better....even the Brute for example literally telported the entire team to the last room once...and rezed someone else.....
>_>....i guess i am feeling bad becasue my monopoly on the super stalker cool thing of running around hidden is getting to a point that everyone is doing it. -
Quote:Actualy mew did get beaten by a defender once....played with this defender who used arrows...arrow/trick arrow.....not sure how but they could pull off the huge arrow attack every 10 seconds or so...that was the only attack they pretty much used....they didnt really need a team.....
At least I haven't been shamed by a defender yet.
The player who played that defender actualy asked the team if we wanted them to power level us.
Mew was very impressed....never met that player again nor ever met a character that could do what that defender did. -
just so people know...this isnt meant as a complaint about stalkers.......it was just kind of a flukey annoying thing.....unexpected to be sure
Because this was the first time mew had an experience of teaming up with 7 other players who literaly made Stalkers from other archtypes and did a better job then the typical stalker.....
As mew told some people in a chat channel...mew expected this from the archnos soldier....and already knew widows are also superior to stalkers(they get threat reduction more health better armor and have the same placate and damage bonus a stalker has)....but having the Tank and Brute and Scrapper do the same thing!! and with more damage!!!...=>_<=
Mew felt like an Underachiever with this team.....
In fact almost every mission was a race to see who could get to the end boss or whatever first. -
Having everyone on your Team out Stalk you.
Ok here is an example....this happened this last week on the Sister Psyche Task Force.
Had a huge annoyance factor on it....it was the rest of mew's team.....they all had stealth and super speed....so that means they not only kept out stalkering mew....but could out damage and out survive her.....they even did the same tricks mew did....with the teleport the team to the end and teleport single players....to rezing them too.....=>_<=.....Mew felt like Mew was useless mostly.....becasue the brutes and tanks did a better job at doing what Mew normaly does....to a point...that Mew's best attacks where 320+ damage with an assassin strike....everyone else except the defender where pulling off 500+ damage on strikes.......not kidding.....
Yah felt very...very...very...lame on that team...LMAO.
Its not very normal.....to have an entire team of NON-Stalker Stalkers.
So thats why Mew had to Post this.
Mew even got alot of aggro....because super speed reduces threat so every so often someone was aggroing a group of enemies a bit more then they could handle come running back and the group of enemies would proceed to start attacking mew.....=O_O=
But mew is used to that.....just the annoyance thing was the simple fact....the TANK and Brute and Soldier of Arachnos....just did better then Mew at Stalking...they could wade into hude groups becasue they had superior Health and Armor....and did Superior Damage and mews attacks being slow.....well most of the time....mew couldnt even get in attacks....because the others would kill them first.
Mew was playing a Street Justice/Ninja Armor Stalker......so mew had a little trouble with energy usage.....as in it ran out alot.....so mew had to slow down on the attacks.... -
oh found another thing that breaks hide effects....most annoying too....
The Super Stunner...when it rezes and rains energy...its an Auto-hit....forces you out of the hide effect....and drains you of energy...cant stop it....also removes the effective placate on targets as well.....ie. they will attack you again...such a say a floating stupid electric using freak show lieutenant....very annoying.
Also about the doppleganger....
Yes thats how stealth works.....something can ignore the stealth effect all totgether on specific targets.
Thats why say an ambush comes running in to get you and ignores your team...or say how you can placate something it changes to a differing target whiel the the other enmies still attack you.
Mew has done more things with stealth throughout this games history then common sense... -
I have endurence problems with my Steet Justice/Ninja Armor Stalker.
But I felt that the issue was either with the street justice set which eats alot of endurance probably alot more on stalkers or it was with the ninja armor.....
but now that some people have brought this up who also have these issues....
then i am inclined to believe this could very well be just the stamina power or something is causing the normal recovery of energy to not work for some reason.....which coincidentaly did happen before....
At the same time when the fog of war bug was around.....hmm.....coincidence?...i am thinking not.
The fix was to simply zone...that seamed to fix it....well most of the time.....
The other way people fixed the issue was to level and also to die...and rez..
Should be an old thread about this on this forum somewhere.....
Certainly sounds liek the old bugs are coming back to haunt the game though.
I keep wondering what other old bugs will make a comeback. -
My own curiosity makes me want to ask the development team a few things.....like....
why did they choose to copy freedom anywise?.....
and just how much from freedom was copied?.....
and do they really think a bunch of people from freedom server will go over to do real testing? -
Quote:Spines and Electric Armor should be effective in their own way.New to stalking here as well and I wasn't entirely sure if a Spines/Electric Armor set was effective, at the moment I do enjoy using it but I'm kinda low level so that isn't much to go by ^^'
Every Stalker set has its weakness and advantages.
Well in mews opinion....the exception is Regeneration right now...because it doesnt work very well for Stalkers....ie the developers need to recalibrate it to make up for the stalker health amount.
The biggest hurdle you will have is determining what your strength and weakness is....and then enhancing that...and with Stalkers there is also a style of play that will determine this as well. -
There are some missions with items in them that allow the NPCs to see through hide as well.....those items can be destroyed though, and are usualy targets for the mission.
Also Dopplegangers of you can see through your Hide...they cannot see through anyone elses hide effect...but they can see through yours.
Manticore And the Boss Cage Consortiums can detect you through hide if they use the secondary Tactics effect.....as in when they first use it....they wont see you...but the second time they will see you and attack sometimes.....
The Stealthy Longbow can also see through hide....as can shadows...but only when they are in a stealth mode...and you have to be close...and standing in front of them.
The Master Illusionists can see through hide if they are phase shifted...and again only when you are in front of them and close.
Crystals that effect you in those Circle of Thorns Maps...will cause enemies to notice you as well...if you are under the effect of the crystal....with the red crystal actualy breaking the Hide Effect completely.
a couple of things that do not break hide that you might think would...
Using the wand to cure the lost...doesnt break the hide effect.
Teleporting and Teleporting Attacks dont break hide.
Using Group Flight...doesnt break hide.
Caltrops and Summons...dont break Hide
Confusion effects and Sleep Effects also do Not break hide...unless they also do damage In which case they will not cancel the hide effect but the enemies will know where you are and start attacking. -
ok one hting i must ask...
You have defense/endurence in hide.....
Hide doesnt use endurence.....so wouldnt it be better to use defense/recharge?? -
I didnt notice it was gone...to tell you the truth
Playing a Stalker though is different then playing a Scrapper, or Brute or Tank.
So i guess for me it wasnt a very big issue at all...
For me Stalker Play is more about prescision and choosing your targets so that i dont waste energy and time with non-essentials.
So the missing power really didnt matter much......i was still annihilating the targets i needed to.....and onthe beta....i admit it...i also had to run away in one place...becaseu the crazy spawns showed up faster then i could kill things.
But i think that was due to lag alot....as i found my self standing there with an attack qued and waiting for it to go off.
By the way...dont know if i made htis clear on this forum or onthe beta...but lag really hurts the street justice set's combo build up. -
Quote:Did you just say Shadow Meld?Fire/Time Corr.
When you have controls, heal, defense all in decent measure - the only thing you really want after that is a heap of damage.
Out of what you listed: Time/Sonic Defender instead of Corr would be the better choice.
I generally like your posts, and I agreed with a lot of what you said in Beta.
But I think you are now at the point of being disingenuous when you keep saying how time "beats armor sets" for actual numbers.
If you're talking defenders, who can we compare that to melee wise? A Tanker? Defender Farsight does not beat Tanker Ice, Tanker SD or Tanker SR.
If you're talking Power Boost, then we can just say that "All Scrapper Armors beat Brute Armors for Defense" on the basis that Scrappers can take Shadow Meld.
Corr Farsight slotted with no powerboost is 14% DEF. That's not beating any Defense based armor set, nor is it beating a VEAT.
Neither does time grant any Mez protection at all, a key component of armor sets.
So while I actually agree that Farsight should have gotten some resistance (like 5% or something) to prevent the current Power Boost combination from doing what it's doing, I think you should be clearer when you keep posting about it.
As inthe level 44 patron power from Ghost widow Shadow meld?
The power that lasts less then 8 seconds for 14% defense...that shadow Meld?
The power that takes 3 minutes to recharge...Shadow Meld?
The one that anchors you in place to activate and actualy can be interupted and thus wasted....the same power that uses 30 energy to start it.
You do know an Inspiration lasts 1 minutes and provides 25% defense?
And you can stack those and use them as you like.
I am just making sure.....on which power you are talking about.....because i am thinking you might be refering to something else. -
anyone runing an Nvidia card......
Make sure you turned off that one program that your card comes bundled with.....the one that lets you make videos and such with certain keystrokes......that particular program causes issues with many video games.....you can still run the rest of the Screen Display Doctor stuff...just that program tends to cause issues like what is being told...with the freezes after so long and the constant not responding thing....can also simply make some games not start up...like fallout for example....or borderlands.
I myself uninstalled that video capture software and just run the other things.
but...this is most likely and issue with the game itself.....
I say this becasue someone posted thay are using a GTX 580...and i hate to say this....graphic issues just are not going to happen on that card.....
I have the previous model I use...a GTX 480....so i might simply be biased here. -
Quote:I second this plea.Hi....please let us use "minimal effects" in power customization....like every other defense set in the game. (that I have played anyways)
The effects of "Disrupt" has made me shelve my /ea stalker. It is unbearable! Please let us choose the no effect except pvp option...like every other set. (and yes...I wanna use the power, it's great)
Thank you and have a nice day!
Also it needs ot be added to dark armor for stalkers as well....
As I hate to look like a big black cloud that wanders around.
And of course energy armor makes you look liek a big mess of glowing stuff too.
I mean....i would think this would be something added right off.....since these two armors use alot of graphic effects...enough that my graphic card turns on the fans....and if it is doing that to me.....i bet the players i have been around have been getting huge lag hits and stuff... -
Quote:I suggest you dont take Regeneration as a defense for Stalkers.....its.....difficult and Frustrating as a Stalker Defense.Hey there, I have never played a stalker not sure why, Have played many scrappers, tanks and controllers and would like to give a stalker a try. Can anyone give me some advice on which sets would be good for a newbie stalker.
If you decide to take either Dark Armor or Energy Armor.....be prepared for the Graphics...those two armor types do not have options to supress the GFX....so you either get to look like a cloud via Dark Armor or very bright and shiney due to the energy Armor....Both sets though are not too bad. and work very well....just their Graphics leave a little to be desired at times.
