well at level 16 you do get the force field drone which does give you 5% defense...if you think that gives good defense hey what the heck

And at level 28 when you get the seeker attack..which doesnt make enemies use their big attacks.....if you never used them you would not have known that though.

on the blaster you have the cloaking device at 20 which gives stealth plus defense of again 5%

at 10 they get a targeting drone which is the usual plus accuracy plus perception.

the only thing the corruptor has going for it is the poison trap at level 20...and inthe traps group thats a pretty good power.

My advice to the OP is to make one of each character and give both of them a try and see how fast you level....how well you take out enemies...and how well you survive.

I already did....i felt corruptors totaly underperform...damage begins to fall behind at about level 11 for them...and that is a huge issue...can you survive ambushes of 3 or more enemies

    Most survivable

I mean overall against all damage types/positions, should have been more specific.
As others have said a stone armor tank....but to be honest...anything with stone armor.......also i was going to say a master mind with force fields....but again anything with force fields would work out.....i just mention master mind becasue you can put your pets on bodyguard mode....with shields up and take little damage

um hands down that would be a blaster with better survivability and better damage.

Not only can you still attack when you are held or stunned or put to sleep as a blaster but you also get a damage bonus for using non-consecutive attack types.

On the corruptor your damage is alot less....and scourge doesnt improve that by much....also any form of hold or sleep or stun will pretty much stop you no matter what.

I also hate to point this out but the amount of energy you expend on a corruptor seams to be alot more...not sure why either.

  5. Between thermal and pain....pain is mostly healing and curing....its a very reactive set...it does have a toggle heal power but the amount it heals isnt that great....

While thermal offers resisatnce shields and some healing and curing.....it also has some nice debuffs as others have mentioned.

As for which one is more solo-able between those two....that would be thermal.

You might think pain due to the toggle heal...but....in actuality with thermal you can enhance the shields and other powers to give you more protection...like for example you can slot steadfast in the shields to give you knock back protection....cant do that with pain.

In pain granted you can put the special heal enhancers in the differing powers....but...most of those enhancers are incorrect in their description and give far less bonus for 60 seconds only and you can only use 1 of those.

I actualy am enjoying a Sonic Blast/Thermal Corruptor right now that i made. Only thing that i can think of that would even her out more would be if she had more summonable pets she could use. But getting those temp powers is a bit difficult.
  6. Ok i want to explain....
I know the mission i have done it 8 times battling Reese before it was broken....and 5 times with not helping the powers division team.

As to people not being familiar with the mission...wow....must not do preatoria missions much....as you have to really skip stuff if you are playing Loyalist to miss this one.
If you stay Resistance the whole time....which I find their story lines mostly lame....they have some good ones(about 5)...but most of the lines are generic for resistance..

Anywise the Mission is one from the Contact Named Transmuter.(located in Imperial City)

Thats the extreme Loyalist contact or Loyalist for Power Contact if you will.....as in you cant use the contact while you are a Resistance aligned character.(but there is nothing stopping you from starting his story arc turning resistance...and then going back to being a Loyalist later which will allow you to continue his story arc if you started it)

The Mission in question starts off as Simply....Capture Ricochette.....You are told to Capture Ricochette...but first you must beat up Twitcher to Lure Ricochette out.

While you do this you get messages telling you what the rest of your Powers Divison Unit is up to.

After you beat Twitcher.....you are then given an option to Capture Ricochette or to Help your Powers Team Unit as they have gotten into trouble.

If you elect to exit(i.e. go help your team)...Transmuter will send you to go help them.....the mission becomes Aid Your Powers Division Team.(this means once you exit you are told to speak to Transmuter. You are then given a choice of being Ready to go or not)

The Mission at that point is straight forward....you click on differing Powers Team Members until you reach a Dead Warrent....who has a note on him telling you That Reese is back.
(This is an instanced mission by the way, and when i first did the Preatoria Missions it was also a single player only mission originaly, when it went to live server it was no longer a single player only mission)

The broken part is that someone on the developement team in the last few months decided to alter that mission without testing it afterwards.....there is now a panel where a door used to be...a door that led to the final battle with Reese.

That battle is important...because it is the second to last of the Reese Chains you need....to get him to become a good guy and give you an excellent dialogue when you go to Primal Earth.

(Alternately If you had decided to Capture Ricochette you cant get this hapening at all i have tried....but at least its possible to keep Warrent Alive.)

ANywise thats the issue with the mission.

As for Tech Support and GMs latley......i dont know what is up either.

My advice is if you wait long enough and do not get support...call them...they have a phone number...worst case scenario is that you cant becasue the time of day is after their support department or their offices are closed.
But that should get you a fairly fast responce time....

I personaly dont think that they are getting the petitions or messages very fast for some odd reason...and it probably has something to do with the change to email non-sense......i am thinking their system is messed up.

Actualy in the missions for Preatoria you can actualy battle Siege and he looks the same as Citadel mostly.
Siege only looks different in the Trials.

And Nightstar has gone through many make-overs over the years....i think she must frequent the Tailor Alot...in fact that might be why the Tailor is so close to her in Imperial City.
And By the way...its obvious she has all the costume slots too....i mean why else would their be a costume salvage turn in person in her city as well.
  8. LOL...he is tricky...isnt he...

And the silly part ...is that you need to do this mission if you want to keep working on the chain for Reese to become a good guy...and he even will wish you well and thank you for setting him on the right track and see you off when you go to Primal Earth...that is if you complete his chain.

Though if you end up not doing this chain(i.e. you capture ricochette instead)....you can actualy keep Warrent to see you off instead......

Though i think Reese's dialogue is much better

    Some questions

i would have to say...slotting it depends on what you are planning to slot into it. LIke there are some interesting sets that you could slot into it for specifc bonus'. BUt also there are specific enhancements that might be worthwhile as well. And then of course there are those who are just the types to try to get the most out of things who may just be trying to get more defense no matter what.

You will notice it gives defense to not just melee and slash and such it gives it to all...

This may or may not be worth it to slot....

Again it depends on what your ultimate plan is.

Just remeber it is a defense set accepting power...so there are some good enhancements like + global recharge and knock back protection....and combined in mutiple places are very effective.

The peopel on this message forum remind people of things like this last part alot.
  10. Interesting build..

I personaly am building based on how a certain non-player character plays in this game that uses energy to attack alot.

So i tend to use alot of my area of effect attacks as much as possible....with the difference being that even though i cant keep them away from me totaly...my back up of healing and such will let me do alot more to keep myself alive.

And no i refuse to take that stupid toggle that repels things.....i will tell you now it doesnt work on most things...consumes alot of eenrgy and wont work inthe bahavior adjustment facility trial nor the protect the door mission in croatoa....so there is no point to both with it.....i personaly feel the super speed whirlwind works a thousand times better if you can believe it.

    lol...you are right.

But then why do they do more damage in melee range then a class designed for melee?
  12. I have some advice for your dark/dark powers...

You will notice on every attack and on some others that they have the ability to slot debuff sets.

You want to slot every power and attack you can with the i believe its called weakness enhancement. Get the lowest level version so you can use it when you are exemplared to low levels...plus it will be cheaper to make.
  13. Its ok...its a toggle....no it doesnt work from hide.

And i can confirm that placate doesnt make it stop working but thats normal....you only placate one target not everything...and it doesnt auto-hide you.

This power doesnt work on any of the Mind Washed Prisoners in the Bahavior Adjustment facility either nor any of the enemies...tried to use it there alot....i was hoping i was just not high enough level but finding it doing nothing after as many attempts as i gave it...made me realize it just didnt work in those trials.

Also its repulsion is weird....it randomly determines a to hit with its effect on things in its radius....if it is successful it randomly tosses them away....this is not always directly away from you....looks more like it can toss away the opponent in about a cone formation.

Also once it hits something it wont work again for a bit on that target. Because it gives the target immunity to the effect after its attempted use is done on them for about 10 seconds or so....not sure of the duration.

PVP wise it doesnt work on other players at all much....i had it work once on a defender but that was about it...

Oh and it uses energy every time it tries to use its effect noo matter if the effct works or not....so you can sit in a group and lose all your energy and have nothing happen.

Kind of a worthless power...fun to look at if it does work....but worthless as it doesnt seam to work most of the time.

I am happy people are sending in bug reports about it....maybe they will look at it someday...

I am still annoyed that Stalker doesn't get Shield set. Yes, I know "how can you hide when there is a freaking Shield there!" but Shield set brings an AoE attack that Stalkers would love. Perhaps it might stand out too much? There's probably only one power that needs to be changed in Shield for Stalker. The rest seems very fine to me especially Phalaxy Fighting and Grant Cover. Several Stalkers can potentially buff each other BEFORE the fight even begins! How cool is that?

Well, Stalker is not going to get a "special set" designed for him because it is easier to create a new set for 3 other Melee ATs and then alter a bit for Stalkers. Yes, Stalker will always get the "recycled" version and sometimes "inferior" version like Dual Blade. I call Dual Blade inferior only because the fun of DB is to form combos and while I don't think DB is weak on Stalker, the combos don't stand out that much. In fact, a lot of times I just do BU + 1K Cuts which is efficient.

And Stalker's "burst damage" is not that impressive. It's higher but not impressive considering the "cost" of getting that burst damage. You lose some critical AoE (like Dragon Tail and Whirling Hand!!!) and you are tied to hidden and 4-5s set up time.
You didnt mention the sad part....where a blaster can use two build ups and shoot at range and cause 3 times more damage then the assssin strike in less time.

By the way to add wait to the stalker damage versus anyone else....take your high level stalker and battle the paladin clockwork construction...you should be able to defeat it....so far only my stalkers have it seams not been able to keep up enough damage to bypass the constructions regeneration rate.
  15. From the missions and the way a certain Preator Duncan Acts i was thinking the magic was being taken and literally kept by her among other people.

I assume she still gets her powers from the same kind of belt Ms. Liberty has, but given the fact of how her minions all act...and how she seams to act...

I am thinking she probably is alot like Mother Mayhem, in that she captures would be Magical people and keeps them as her playthings or uses them as Pseudo Magical Batterys for her powers.

As for what is magical in preatoria...not much...but then again....sufficiently advanced technology tends to seam magical.....and the power sources on some of the warmechs and clockwork and the way they could easily put the consciousness of seers into the clockwork...make me wonder if Magical methods of some sort where not actualy being harnessed in their creation.

The big problem is though....even if there where misisons with things that drop magical items...you cant really replay them...because no preatoria missions are available for flashback.(though i swear i read that the developers said these would be available)

    Rogue Magazine

I enjoyed the magazine alot...it had alot of things that reminded me of other fashion like magazines....but this one was excellent as it was all game related.

I think it would be neat to see more these magazines.

And it would especialy be neat to see differing super groups in each one...though i bet that would take quite a bit of time to do.
  17. When you do a mission with an alpha slot that gives a level shift...the mission starts at level 51...i noticed this.

So if the Tfs are super easy...sounds to me like you have people who are only level 50 running them(no incarnate stuff)....i suggest you have the incarnate slotted people run them so they start out higher level(you run into 51+ enemies then at the start)....then go ahead and up them somemore if you feel its too easy.
  18. I suggest Kinetic Melee and Energy Aura....those sets have been the most enjoyable on a stalker in my opinion so far.

Dont get me wrong...this has nothing to do with function or statistics....its more or less enjoyment factor...based on look...feel....sound...overall performance.

I too have a Ninja Stalker and Superior Reflexes Stalker and Willpower...and electric armor...and a plethora of combinations.

But Mostly i found most of the other combinations just started to bore me...i knew what they did and they worked...but i found nothing surprising to them at all....i literaly would play and run out of steam while i played them....then would switch to a differing character.

I played Kinetic Melee and Energy Aura...and just found it more interesting.

Also...I recommend that you take recall friend when you reach level 6 if you happen to like playing with teams.

As for Assassin Strike, its high damage could draw some attention but it is still only single target. The AoE fear may attract some attention after it fears off but nothing major. I have yet to draw aggro away from a Tanker or Brute.
Actualy its interesting you pointed that out too...

I just realized out of the people talking about the aggro....i noticed that when it came to threat as you point out the mobs and enemies switch target to go after the players not in combat.....(the squishies you called them)

My own experience was when i too have not been in combat...i mean maybe i took a few opportunity shots to kill things....but having targets switch from the Tanks and Brutes to come after me was very odd to me.

I have never done much with being the only melee in a group as a stalker yet....but if its true that the enemies then ignore the stalker and go after the others...then this might simply be a case of something up with the enemy threat AI.

I never noticed the weirdness except with the incarnate trials....but i went and did tin mage and apex since i last posted and found that the same kinds of things happened...it was almost like a reverse taunt effect.....

As in players who should have the least threat getting the most hate from the enemies....

By the way the explanations earlier about threat generation was interesting....the actual taunt numbers can be read on each power for tanks and brutes in their description if anyone is curious....so the highest taunt attack in the game happens to be teleport foe(the highest one i have noticed so far)...which sometimes will do a monstrous taunt on your target....

And if anyone didnt know your current threat level is displayed in the combat statistics....sorry mine doesnt say .5 its says 2....i guess i am just a threat.(hide doesnt seam to lower the value for me but super speed does)

But like i said...this might be a case where we have all found a small bug in the game....might have to really test this.

    GO STALKER BUG SMASHERS!!
  20. PsychicKitty

    EM/ Brutes?

I play an energy melee brute...and use electric armor.

The Energy Transfer has one small issue....the developers who tampered with the animation for it messed up on it becasue as you charge up to use the atatck the actual damage doesnt happen until after the animation completes.....

So not only do you lose yuor brute damage bonus while it builds up to hit....but in addition if you die while you are in the animation you do no damage...

Kind of funny and silly...but here is the stupid thing.....if you miss with it or are interupted or knocked away before it completes.....you will do no damage to the target but take the damage that it causes to you in full.

This attack by the way can kill you....yes you can commit suicide by only using this attack.....if you want to have fun...you can do this on the practice targets in the Rikti War zone for one place.

I'm no number-cruncher, but here's my rough idea for fixing stalkers.

    (1) Drop the Stalker base threat level
    (2) For each member on the team, reduce the stalker's threat level, even to the point of doubling this effect for each Tanker or Brute on the team.
    (3) For each member on the team, reduce the (ridiculously long) time for Hide to re-activate after an attack.

Here's the "rationale": with more team members, enemies have more targets to evaluate and attack, and the Stalker's abilities mean said Stalker will fall out of notice with respect to other, more visible targets. That means the Stalker can run around and strike with relative impunity in the context of a large team.

No need to futz with DPS or even burst damage. The Stalker can hit, run toward the tank, brute, or scrapper, have Hide re-activate, and strike again.
Actualy its interesting to me that you mention this....

I always found it interesting that as a STalker that even though are damage isnt the highest all the time....we do certainly get alot of aggro sometimes from the enemies.

To a point lately i have been noticing in the new trials....that the enemies sometimes start shooting at me while i am hidden even though i have even attacked. A few times in the Lambda trial alone i had MArauder and his entire group coming after me only. They just seamed to ignore the Tanks and Scrappers and Brutes.

I tend to play this game alot....and play many things over and over becasue i like how the game eveolves and changes over time....so seeing these kinds weird things like that...well they tend to stick in my mind as something odd and i don't think should be happening.

In fact in the Imperious Task force....I had collected so much aggro...i made the good old fashioned everquest broadcast...TRAIN TO ZONE!!!

    You might be right.....

But we must keep this thread alive if for nothing else then to gather as the few playing stalkers in the game.

And also to get the record eventualy for largest thread.

And also to allow ourselves time to vent for the issues we all face playing as a stalker....
From watching everyone else outdamage our best attack with normal attacks and in sometimes a large area hitting many enemies at the same time....to seeing ourselves take most of the aggro while hidden...to literally being the one on the team that dies the most...even more so then the blasters.
This by the way doesnt always apply and it doesnt apply to all of us.....its just some of the things we the stalker players see.(this does not list everything talked about in this thread)

This thread is more or a less not a thread of only wishes and desires of extra stuff...its a thread trying to tell the developers and the curious few why exactly the stalker is so rarely used. And if nothing else to help explain the data the developers have.
And it also is attempting to give suggestions to the same developement team that is working hard on this game...so that maybe they could get inspirations on briliant ways to do stuff for this Archtype and possibly for other Archtypes in the game as well.

And hopefully as you can see from many of the posting players...something to help make the stalker feel more complete then it is.
  23. i dont agree that caltrop would fix much...a small area of effect isnt going to stop ambushes at all...they will still shoot you and jump over the caltrops to get to you. And if the ambushes are big enough they will surpass the maximum effect by the caltrops and walk through them as if they are not there.

The caltrops make things run...so if you have a tank or a balster who like to use area of effects to hit large groups you will be as effective as the Tanks with super strength that scatter everything with the hand clap....or as useful as the storm power user who uses gale on groups you are killing for their measly 5 points of damage while blowing them away from you.

So anywise i just cant agree on this thought.

I think if anything they should put in some form of ability that lets you leave a replacement behind...works like a huge area of effect placate that would slightly heal you and slightly give you back energy that you can pull off once every 30 minutes.

That in my mind would not only fit the stalker motife on all combinations....but also make it possible to actualy have some form of OMG protection to let the stalker escape if they need to.....maybe even escaping a team whipe to come back and help the rest fo the group.

I said slight back energy and a slight heal becasue that would ensure you dont die from some stupid damage over time effect and also give you something versus the last shots from enemies after they are placated.

Like i said...that in my mind what i suggest would fit the concept alot better then caltrops...
I am sorry but i just feel caltrops are about as good as using jump kick or flurry they are useful i guess...but not really the pick thats going to do much for you. and would in no way be ultimate....more pathetic then anything else.

Sure they might be useful with the new bahavior adjustment facility....but go figure...thats like one thing out of many encounters.
  24. I would have them all work on problem #9 instead of #1, #2 or #3....

Thats by the way simply consulting XABAXABAHEY the whispering Demon on what to do next?

And if that isnt an acceptable answer...then i would choose #5....and get in a honda 4x4 and run everyone down.

And that is still not accepted.....
Then could you please re-phrase the entire question so that there is an escape hatch i can get through?

And um by the way.....which was YES on again?
Was it the Destroy Russia or #2?
