Instead i rolled Araf as Mind/Kin and as i am delaying Siphon Speed he is going good atm.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Big mistake IMO - Siphon Speed can be triple stacked for +60% global recharge.
How much would that cost in IO's?

    Ill/Storm

    OK, couldn't remember.

I agree on your comments though; my Ill/Storm is currently at L42 - I'll be taking all but Ice Blast.

    Telekenesis

Has Telekinesis got any KB in it?
I'm currently considering making a Mind/Storm and wondered if a mob held against a wall with TK would be thrown about if Nado was thrown at him?
I'm assuming yes from what I've read but thought I'd ask.

    Ill/Storm

That's not the OP's build its an adaption that I made to get perma PA - as you said it has too much compromise to be a viable build - IMO anyway.
  5. Psiphon

    Ill/Storm

Adapting your build this is the best that I could do; personally I wouldn't - too much compromise for my liking.

According to Mids it gets PA to 0.1 of a second downtime.

  6. I'm all for this!

My 1st Level 5o took me 6-9 months and it felt like an achievement.
Playing last night a Controller let out a cheer of "at last" as he hit L50.

The guy was Fire/FF and had no idea what dispersion bubble was when I asked him why he wasn't using it and going by his badges had never left Atlas.

With MA it feels like they are giving away L50's with every packet of cornflakes.

I think that a compromise needs to be reached though - say take away half of an alts levels that was PL'd this way.

    50's to 25's etc!
  7. I agree with all that's been said and I'd also advise an End reducer or two in Dark Regeneration; great heal but a massice end hog.

    Best AV soloer?

What is the best AV soloer?

I've been reading the forums in the UK and US for a number of years and the question comes up alot followed by pages and pages of conjecture; wouldn't it be nice to find out?

    I'm suggsting a challenge!

    The format:

Three AV's to be soloed out of say a list of five - the player can choose the ones that they feel they have the best chance against - least resisted damage ect.

Each AT run their own challenge to find the best soloer within their class, this then goes foward to compete against the winner of each of the other classes to find the overall champion.

In the final maybe add a compulsory GM or Rikti pylon.

    The rules as I see it would be;
    No temp powers
No accolades apart from autos that cant be removed
    No Shivans etc
A tray full of inspirations of the players choice can be used

Apart from that any tactics go; the player that defeats three AV's in the shortest time is the winner.

All of the challenges would need to be videod as proof.

    Any one up for this?

    i14 information

    Hi,

I logged into CoH this morning and got some info about the upcoming changes - thats fine except that I couldn't get the bloody thing off of my screen.
I play on a relatively low rez so I assume that there's a button on the screen lower down to close it but I cant see it and the page doesn't scrole so the only way to exit was to use system manager to stop the CoH process.
I've not logged any alts - hopefully this is shown on an account basis and not an alt basis.
  10. [ QUOTE ]
Blind is way undeslotted. You need Holds in there or you'll be having troubles with any boss really. Phantasm has 1 damage too many.

Hurl Boulder isn't the best really, Seismic Smash is a much better power IMO (not listed in Sucker Punchs builder because it's out of date), even if you have to get into melee to pull it off. I think Cold Mastery is a better option for a Ill/Storm : Hibernate (to heal and recover that precious End), Defense Shields, new high damaging Cone attack in Frost Breath & Ice Storm. Freezing Rain -> Ice Storm -> Frost Breath is a sick combo.

Once you get Hibernate you can basically get rid of Aid Self and replace Aid Other with the superior O2 Boost (O2 is great vs End draining enemies like Sappers and the LGTF Famine Rider). Hibernate is especially nice for you since you've so many pets and droppables which will continue to work away while you Hib up to heal and recover End.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    What Carni said!

I use the Earth Epic with my Ill/Kin and it works great as a Scraptroller - FS'd Seismic Smash and Fissure with a large Self Heal (Transfusion) coming up every few seconds.

I'm currently leveling an Ill/Storm (in the 30's) and plan on playing exactly as Carnifax describes - Ill/Storm is more of a ranged alt.
  11. I've often wondered how much of an impact I've made to a team and sometimes I've left and thought to myself "they are really going to struggle without me".
Vanity - misplaced sense of self importance, possibly but it would be nice to know.

I suggest that there be an extension to the CoH website so that you can log in and see the stats for the teams that you were on.
Nothing too comprehensive just the team make up, missions run, time for the missions, mobs arrested, number of deaths, team wipes etc. As well as the missions that you ran - the mission preceding and mission after you left.

As I said it would be nice to know!
  12. I've never seen a vid of a Defender soloing an AV, how exactly would it be done?

Any build needs to be able to output enough damage while surviving any incoming damage - any alt that you see soloing AVs have their own methods of deflecting that damage:
    Scrappers - capped defence etc
    MMs - pets
    Controllers - pets

How exactly would a defender do it - is there enough debuff in the primary to mitigate the incoming damage of an AV?
  13. I've got an Ice/EM if I could change it for for another alt I'd go Ice/Fire.
With EA Ice thrives in a large group and /Fire has good AoE damage.
Ice/Fire would both solo and team well.
  14. [ QUOTE ]
decreased the tohit bonus by alot and gave it some +accuracy
also make it quite a bit cheaper to run.

Does about the same in PvE, but i think it's weaker in PvP now.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Thanks for the reply.
Out of interest, in PvE how effective is it, does it replace an Accuracy IO allowing you to slot only one per attack?
  15. [ QUOTE ]
Don't you hate the new Focused Accuracy, it's great on WP because of no endurance issues... and now they go and nerf it. I have it on my claws/WP since I wanted Energy Torrent and although it was more useful choice than Conserve Power, damn I hate it!

    Sorry, rant over, I promise

    [/ QUOTE ]

What have they done to nerf FA?
  16. [ QUOTE ]
Dark Miasma. Fire/Dark Corruptors are made of awesome.

    They solo extremely well.

They do great damage and excellent debuffage (I daresay Dark is one of the strongest sets for debuffing) in teams, while also providing mezzing.

They can even heal, and/or have their pet help them mez, debuff and heal.

What else could you possible want?

    [/ QUOTE ]

    I agree with this!

Other goods sets..........Rad and Storm come to mind.
  17. [ QUOTE ]
    I think you mean fury

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Indeed
  18. [ QUOTE ]
Problem with that Psiphon is that some sets already have a +20% recharge that runs even when they are not being attacked.
If you are going to implement something like that it does need to be stackable, maybe 10% for an AV, 7 for an EB, 5 for a boss, 3 for an lt and 1 for a minion. This will get capped by the aggro cap but would give a bigger bonus than 20% in the difficult fights.
Or could go up with rage getting to 30-40% with full rage.

Either way I think if it is going to be less than perma it needs to be higher than 20%.

Edit: Never played the set so don't know how needed this is, just adding to your idea.

    [/ QUOTE ]

What you say is true - I just threw 20% out as a reasonable number to explain the mechanics of the suggestion.

    [ QUOTE ]
The other ploblem is the game engine doesn't support an "on attacked" power trigger. That is why it can't do the "reflect damage" type powers that you see in a lot of MMOs.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Isn't Rage itself an "on attacked power" - an attack is registered and is used to build Rage?
  19. If the set were to recieve another buff what I'd like to see is something that's unique to the set and give it a differentiater - adding a bit of extra +def here or +res there doesn't do it for me.

In this vein and in keeping with the whole Kinetics theme what I'd like added is a true energy transfer component.

Each of the shields have a true Kinetic element whereby the energy from an attack is used to give a 20% +recharge to all powers for 5 seconds - this is not self stacking nor cumulative.
From the first attack the rechage boost is applied and stays until 5 seconds after the last attack.

The addition of this would give additional damage from attacks, ability to build rage easier and increased survivability by reducing the downtime for Energy Drain.
  20. Reasons:
1 - Sets change all of the time, SoC might get a nerf at some point or Mass Conf might get a buff - I'm not saying that they will but I've deleted alts before only to see a minor change that would have improved it no end.

2 - It's a level 41 - unless you were PL'd thats alot of time spent; personally I'd rather pay a couple of pounds for a new slot than see that time wasted.

3 - Mind has the ability to stack more types of mezzes than any other primary.

Sleep - Mesmerize and Mass Hypnosis. If done correctly will allow you to mez a group inc bosses without pulling aggro.

Confuse - Confuse and Mass Confuse. Again mez all inc bosses with no aggro.

Hold - Domination and Mass Domination.

You also get Telekesis and Terrify.

All of Plants attacks will pull aggro onto you and outside of its holds - Strangler - Vines there's no ability to stack.

I'm not saying Mind is better, SoC being available so often is good for control and damage but neither is Mind inferior.
Personally I think that you should play a Plant so that you can do your own comparisons but don't delete the Mind to do it.
  21. This is certainly do able - I've seen a vid of an FF/Archery with capped ranged Defense complete the RWZ challenge.

Basically hovering above the mobs while raining death from above - he completed it in a reasonable time as well - sorry couldn't find the link.

IMO Archery is the only way to go due to it's Nuke - all of the others either require you to be in melee which is an obvious no no or have a longer recharge and a penalty.
Being ranged, on a base 60 second recharge and no penalty RoA is the best nuke for the job.

    [ QUOTE ]
Based on my experience so far with Brutes the damage is lower than Scrappers.
I find I'm struggling to maintain Fury

    [/ QUOTE ]

As I said it's based on my experience so far which is probably largely due to a lack of expertise with Brutes and maintaining Fury.

However having played both I would still say that a well played Scrapper will out damage a well played Brute over a mission at low levels for the following reasons:
    - Fury is too hard too maintain from mob to mob.
    - Brawl appears to be standard part of of a Brute attack chain.

Those are my thoughts so far at the low levels, as I said that might change as I level up.
  23. [ QUOTE ]
and the scrapper don't have the same benefit due to the brute fury

    [/ QUOTE ]

True but they do have higher base damage and Criticals that do double damage.

Based on my experience so far with Brutes the damage is lower than Scrappers.
I find I'm struggling to maintain Fury
At low levels the attacks on you that build Fury can obviously kill you.

My opinion might change as my Brute gets to the higher levels, but certainly at the low levels - advantage Scrapper.
  24. Fair enough, as you said it's not to everyones taste.

By the way - the main reason for me looking at Villains was to have go at some sets that aren't available Blue side.
Based on an earlier post of yours I've made a Electric/Energy Aura Brute - you seemed to sing high praise of EA.
Electric Melee was my only option for a primary - do you know how well this works with /EA?
Some of the attacks show as knockback in Mids which would be counter productive to the heal/End Rec in EA, do you know if it is KB or KD?
