I disagree Mac, both in principal and in market practicality, but thats just my opinion. Some share it, some dont. But you definitely wont see me rewarding some newb lazy a$$ with a build he has done nothing for or to contribute towards. You, in many instances, at least post up your builds and ask for opinions. There are many that do not.
I share builds. I have a couple up on the Blaster forums right now. But some builds, I will never post, simply because I know no one on the server has anything like it, and I enjoy having a better build (yes, some of those happen to be PvP builds). But even in pvE, I guess I enjoy the competitive part of having a better build than the same AT's on the server. Often enough, it shows in mishes and TF's, or in farms.
But in response Sardan, there's proper avenues to getting the response you want than just 'Hey show me the build, and btw do it in public forums'. A lot of us are open to providing help (some like Mac are more open than others to a greater number of folks), but at least act like you're attempting to learn how to slot. There are many repeats on the boards just begging for build hand outs, and having to sift through 30+ Fire/Kin farming build request threads is downright ridiculous.
Not saying thats you, but if there is a build you're curious about that I have bragged about, send me a PM and we can always discuss it and share info. I do it all the time.
Sometimes its as simple as using the search function for some of these lazy guys, which is also often neglected. -
This is my cosmic concept/fun toons build, but I made it pretty smokin.
The good thing about this build is secondary powerset isnt important, as this build can be copied across any existing Blaster secondary with Fire as the primary.
Capped Ranged D with a Hoarfrost and Hibernoob, with a pretty quick Hover and SS to boot, with unlimited endo goodness.
Code:For those that prefer it, Inferno can be interchanged with Fire Sword Circle (or your respective Blasters secondary AOE) if Inferno isnt your thing and you want another AOE to use on every group. Having Hibernoob and Hoarfrost also allows me to PvP with him every now and then and still be pretty effective. -
Soul where that build runs into trouble at is the reliance on Drain Psyche to keep your blue bar up. You have less than 1.0 Usage to Recovery differential WITH the endo accolades, and on a blaster where you are wanting to fire off rapid chains, thats not good at all. In fact thats kind of nasty in a bad way.
On non S/L mishes in tough TF's, etc., I like not having to wade into enemies and pop an AOE just to NOT suck wind all the time when firing off rapid attacks.
And remember- and this is what I had to point out to my friend that had a similar build like yours- Drain Psyche does 0 DMG, but on your build, you're forced to run in every time its up to keep respective blue (Well, as long as youre wanting to keep firing off those AOE chains).
Instead of having to use it when its not necessary, you could be casting another AOE, maybe 2 in the time it takes you to run into the mob group, hit it, and get realigned after PS. Another Arch/MM Blaster who does not have to rely on it as a fitness tool is going to do much more AOE DMG than you much quicker over the course of a map. Plus, when they do use it, its going to be when they need it the most, and for a blaster, thats usually a much needed +Regen for the healing. I know it doesnt sound like a lot on a forum, but trust me, it translates into a lot in-game when you're not having to use it aimlessly.
Heres my take on the build I made for a friend...He absolutely loves it. Its non stop carnage in S/L mishes, as he never has to use DP, and on tough TF's or AV mishes, he loves that he has a great self heal AND Hibernoob. If you'd like his opinion, he's @Rise of Science on Justice.

In terms of comparing the other aspects of the build, Recharge, Resistance, S/L Defense, & ACC are negligible and about the same. You have 13.5% more global DMG, but even that does not translate to some of your powers being more damaging b/c of the way they are slotted. Try my build, and I dont think you'll be disappointed.
Also, IMO, I would keep Mind Probe. Your a Blaster. High DMG is your friend. -
What are you trying to do with it? Farm? And if so, what are you trying to farm, or what route you want to take? S/L Defense cap, high resistance with heals, etc.?

And just FYI- theres a reason why a lot of us arent going to hand you a Mids build on here, or post our specific respective builds we use on our toons.
I know there are some that love builds handed to them *cough* , but a lot of us have worked very hard on very unorthodox builds that are min/maxed to the brink of existence, and there are many, many reasons (Not going to list them all) why we're not handing out builds like candy.
Id rather make suggestions and help a person to learn how to slot their toons better, and go the route of teaching a man to fish, etc., etc., that kind of stuff.
I post builds every now and then, and I exchange builds a lot over PM's, but I dont think its fair for some of us to work hours on perfecting a build where we want it to have someone grab it as a handout for free. A lot of it also depends on the person too. -

I think the mods have us in diapers a bit with all this deleting, as the stuff they deleted wasnt that bad, but oh well, they deleted the troll posts too, which is what they should of done to begin with.
Im glad others have chimed in and voiced support of the SS/SD Brute. I told you guys it was elite! The reason I went into my experience is to set a foundation of my expertise and time spent farming in this game, which is extensive. When you spend 4+ years farming with multiple AT builds, you do become a bit of an expert, and there are many, many here. I dont think I ever claimed sole territory on that merit, and it has nothing to do with blowing my own horn.
As stated already by another in this thread, it helps some players to know what someone who farms like me, Mac, or some of the other farming avids on their respective servers think is the best build, or what builds are the fastest we've seen. If Macskull, Ra, Toy, BZ, Con, etc. etc., give you advice and tell you that a specific build is the fastest they have seen, and you just so happen to want a speed farming toon, it would probably be wise to listen.
Anyways, glad I could point out the SS/SD, and to whoever is planning to purp one out- you're going to have one hell of a good time.

There's a long line of builds that will essentially make you an untouchable god in this game, but few have the flexibility to do the things a well built Ill/Rad Troller can do. It can take out groups pretty quickly, and we all know how well it can solo AV's. Pretty untouchable once you get the recharge just right for PA.
If controllers arent your style and you're looking for more of an 'in your face' punch,then any Blaster with soft-capped ranged defense (Preferably Fire/ for AOE and ST carnage) are pretty uber in PvE. -
1) Played since beta, and have played em all, but primarily Ive stuck with Scrappers, Blasters, and Tankers in PvE and PvP. I like the 'in your face' mojo of those AT's.
2) First toon was a Fire/Fire Blaster, and thanks to power customization and a name change, he has now turned into my Cosmic Silver Surferish-Energy hurling badass that I still love to play.
Other than him, I love play my min/maxed Scrapper builds, mainly SPines/Regen, Spines/Dark, and Claws/SR.
3) Wow....picking a favorite is probably tough for every veteran here that has played for 50-60+ months. If I had to choose one toon to play in terms of fun factor and likability, I would still go with my Fire/Fire Blaster. I think its just the sheer carnage he does to both groups of mobs and solo AV's, and the speed at which he does it. It helps that hes nigh unkillable with the way I play him and a 3+ billion build (soft capped ranged defense, great recharge, a self heal, and hibernation if stuff gets hairy), but I definitely cant get enough of him.
Coming in a close second would be my SD/SS/Fire Tank, or my Claws/SR Scrapper. Both of those are great fun, and the Claws Scrap is the bane of all Bosses/EB's/AV's.

Ive been playing this game on and off since Beta. Ive watched a lot of players with top skill level farm. I have a high skill level and 5 farm toons between blue and red side, and couldnt even begin to tell you how many 50's Ive purped out or how many hours Ive spent farming until I faceplanted at 5am in the morning some weekends.
Im a farming expert. Ive farmed the original family farms blue and red side, with dumpster divers in the old freak maps, the YMCA Psi farm, the Battle Maiden farm, the demon farm, the scientist cargo ship farm, the TV farm- you name it, Ive prolly done it.
Ive farmed with Scrappers, Tankers, Controllers, Corruptors, Brutes, and Dominators, so Ive pretty much run the AT gambit on what people farm with.
With all that said, I can honestly sit here and say that, after my friend spent about 4 billion the on the build red side, I havent seen anything farm level 54's as fast as his SS/SD Brute.
In fact, Im surprised no one has even brought up that combo, as its downright nasty. I wish I could take credit for his genius mids build and post it, as I always like to show my mad skills with Mids off, but I cant do it in this case (not my right to post it without consent). His slotting and cleverness in building the toon is downright flawless, and the damage he puts up is quite insane.
I have a SD/SS/Fire tank thats pretty damn good, but its nowhere close to what the SS/SD/Elly Brute build can do under the right slotting and player.

*** If you're looking for a clear cut #1 Farmer in terms of speed and survivability, I would cast a vote towards a well built SS/SD Brute, with Fire/SD Brute right there with it and surpassing it at times depending on how Rage crashes time with your mob entry.

Dominators/Controllers cant keep up with the speed and killing power Fury gives you, and thats not even counting that the survivability is never in question with a well built Brute, even against Bosses. -

My personal favorite is when he called me out for attacking him with 2 corrupters and a Stalker, than trying to challenge me to actually fight him.
For those of you not on Justice, Psion has a *very* long history of *only* coming out of the Hospital when the side favors him, and even than always targets corrupters, than runs away, usually back to the Hospital.
When Psion has been challenged to actually fight me, either in Arena or Zone, whichever he prefers, he ALWAYS refuses. His comments are virtually identical to those posted here. Aka, Aid Self is teh hax, /Inv is godmode in pvp, and there is no way either of use could ever win.

Candle is a habitual liar, and what he fails to mention is that I've essentially had to laugh him off in the middle of a duel. I tend to do that with people that don't even force me to use IH after they've pounded on me for awhile. Why waste the time when I know I can't produce the dmg output needed on that toon to down you, and you're not going to down me when other stronger burst dmg AT's have failed to do so?
I mean, its really an issue of challenge and balance. For instance, I can easily bring my Blaster in to mop the floor with you or any other /Invul anytime, but I actually like a challenge- a decent fight where two players each have equal ability to win or lose, and I also like fighting melee toons. They give PvP a fair feel instead of a cheap Blaster brute-killing spree.
And Zen...you fought Death Thorn when we dueled for a good 6-7 minutes atop one of the northwest skyscrapers in SC one time when I followed you up there. Was a pretty decent fight. I don't remember which of your Brutes you were on, but it was awhile ago. Thorn has been on and off the shelf for awhile since then, as Ive been working on the villain side a lot here lately. -

Psion, Invul gets trounced by everything not smashing/lethal. A person that lists Spines/Regen and BS/Regen as their two characters will get laughed at if they start calling Invulns easymode. You get IH in Sirens cmon!

Im glad someone has some sense on these forums. Those that are laughing obviously know jack sh*te about Regen.
Regen is one of the most micromanaged, click intensive secondaries in the game. You heal at the wrong time- too soon, too late, etc. against a good dueler in an extended fight, you're pretty much toast. Not saying its hard, as nothing in this game is hard per say, but the point stands...
So I guess someone with some sense could see how a Brute /Invul build where all you have to do is worry about hitting DP and then hitting aide self every 4-5 minutes would be more laughable and more, well, 'easy button' than a /Regen. You basically have my two healing powers, more HP, and more than 3 times my resistances...Now whats more, umm, what do you call it in your 10 year old terms, lamerz?
So Im gonna pull a Candleschmick here and say "Lolz moar omg dudez', because that /Invul-DP-Aide Self build is a no brainer, and perfect for Melee vs. melee fights in Sirens.
Also- if some Spines beat you by kiting, you indeed suck, and couldn't hold a candle to me, son...no pun intended. Your build is one of the most survivable even if you had a Spines toon in front of you popping every attack chain in the book. If someone kiting took you down, better start practicing before ocming at me alone.
Also- the next time you want to say I have a sucky build, you might want to prove it by beating me without having 3 vills debuffing me, and me eating assassin strikes while you think you're the greatest whacking away the last couple of meaningless blows with your plastic stick.
But dont worry - I'll have a new Siren's /Regen toon for your [censored] soon. Im gonna love watching the excuses roll when you fall to a seldom used primary.
Edit: Now that I think about it, I think I was the last /Regen to kite kill ol' Blood Fiend with a nice crit Impale.

Also- Im rather careful with the word 'skill' around Candle, Zen- an Invul Brute with the Dull Pain/Aide Self build is about the easiest build to play in the game, and one of the hardest to out-DPS the defenses.
Ill give him credit for slotting a build thats about as carbon copy as it gets, but thats about as far as it goes.....

I know plenty of Scrappers, Brutes, and Tanks that do nothing but duel melee toons in Sirens on Justice..its actually a pretty popular sub culture in there now.
And Conflict- just save it man....I've read multiple threads today where you put your 2 cents in, and it sounds like you have absolutely no idea what you're talking about in any instance.
Tiger doesnt have a 300 mill IO build and he dominated the Brutes he's faced thus far in there from the duels I saw- and what- hes like 13? What would that mean for someone who actually knew how to put one together? THink about that for a minute...
You showed your intelligence level the minute you brought up a Brute 'kiting'....very effective way to build Fury eh? Any Regen would laugh at a kiting Brute, as theyre not going to kill much at all.
Thats actually very funny....funnier than anything Tiger has said in this thread....
People can believe whatever the hell they want to believe...Those Brutes 'believed' that Tiger was a joke the other day before he put most of them on the floor....I wasnt the only one that saw it. -

A couple of the Brutes are pretty respectable PvPers with IOed out Sirens builds, so I cant discount the guy completely. With the right slotting and a lot of money, an IOed out DBer could make some of the guys posting in this thread look pretty stupid.
The problem is folks are not familiar with it because of it's 'newness', and there are very few people that have actually put 300-450 mill into an IO build to shut people up who constantly bash it without knowing what the hell theyre talking about.
Im smart enough to admit that it can be viable with the right build set up and IO purchases, at least in Sirens duels...In the arena, ehhh, I still need to see more, and I'll be testing it out soon to gauge about 3 different IO builds like I always do with my new toons....
Those that know me well enough know that I wont ever piss on an AT or powerset....theres too many options now with IO's to really shake things up and make really innovative builds that deal death.
When you think about it, I remember many people on these boards laughing at red side TA MM's, yet now theyre FOTM since vills have realized they can eat most of the heros alive in Sirens with a decent build.
Maybe not with Tiger here specifically, but I think many of you would be humbled against the right DB build..... -
After 3 days of messing with the build and different power selections, I finally found a better build than those listed on here for farming/DPS/Defense, but I'll keep it proprietary knowledge for the moment....

I figured Id let everyone know I reached the following Spines/DA Behemoth PvE Farming IO set bonus build tonight while playing with the hero designer..only downside is that youd need at least 90-115 million to purchase the IO sets:
Take note of the extra Fire Resistance (actual comes out to be around 40+% Fire Resistance w/Murky cut on), Higher HP bonus, Higher Endo max, and higher regen rate.
