Thanks for asking! I don't currently offer any prints for sale but if you want to private message me with an email address, I'll send you a larger version of the file that you can either print at home or print online through snapfish, kodak.com or a local drugstore!

But I wanted to give a more "cartoonish" way of drawing and colouring a shot. And I might as well try and make it an entry for the FArt Battle and hopefully finish it in time for the early bird points (I did!!).

Somehow.. this drawing turned out better than I'd expected!
Now, let's hope the voters of FArt will think the same

    Hello Tushie! Great job, DeeDee.
  4. Love the composition, Muse!

I bought my first tablet through newegg.com. I think if you ask around, you'll hear good things about them. Here's a link for the bamboo if you are thinking of starting with that model: ($69 and free shipping)

And you can sometimes find them in the $40 range with free shipping at amazon.com (possibly new, used or refurbished so read the fine print!)

and PS: appreciated the cool arty nurturing messages from everyone regarding collabs and communication etc.
  5. Thanks Muse! That means alot to me.

Thanks Ironik! You talked me into ! Expect several comics this year!

Oooh Caemgen! Numeralmancer has a nice ring to it!

Thank you Fireheart Hahaha! yes, math nerds rule the world and they have an equation that proves it!

    See you in the game!

If the original linework has to be preserved, maybe that should be explicitly stated? It pretty much rules out people who use a painterly approach, such as myself, from this collaboration.
I wondered if I had taken too many liberties, so I thank Darth for being super cool and gracious. I think FrozenDeath and Fireheart and ChristopherRobin all have valid thoughts on the subject. Collaborations can be a bit of a gray area and I may have wandered too far toward the "not-a-collab-anymore" side of the gray area =:P

Darth is correct that I used the draw over technique and then played around with the face and the fire. The original image is beautiful and my intent was to put my own spin on it. but in retrospect, I overspun.

Thanks for the feedback! If I do anything else in this thread I'll make an effort to stay closer to the source material.
  7. Here's a recent commission I did for a very heroic accountant =

I figure he's a technology hero who uses advanced calculating devices predict and influence the outcome of future events.

Thought I should put up some more linework as well for others to play with.
Here is a drawing I did a while back for DJ1 of his blaster Grey Ming Badda Bing.

Larger version can be had here.
His colors are pretty simple (mostly gray, black & brown).
Wonderful range of values. This looks great!

Love how the ferrets are multiplying in here too!
  10. I was wondering that, myself! I haven't spied any of them yet so I think they are not in yet.

  11. Hope everything works out ok, VexXxa!
  12. And on the other end of the spectrum... Here's a page from Lions Tigers and Bears Volume 3 which should be arriving Next Month~!
  13. Thanks Caemgen, Cygirl, the_fox_Rox and VexXxa!

Thanks for asking about the comics!

Heres a 6 page preview of one of the stories: http://www.comicbookresources.com/?p...724&disp=table

You can also the the Beautiful cover done by Tom Grindberg at that link. The release date (which was originally sept 2010 I think) has changed so that we can gather more stories together in one book.

and for those of us who don't like to click on links, here's another pinup of Death Angel who will also have some stories in the upcoming anthology!

    Feral Kat artz!

That's awesome! I love the different textures like the nicks on the armor and the shine on the leather. Save that kitty!
  15. Great work! keep it up! Hi Johnny Depp. *waves*
  16. Were the "NSFW"s put in by a Mod? just curious.

Anyway these are coming along really well. Good work!
  17. Thanks VexXxa!

Here's a similar style illustration from one of the stories I worked on last year. This is Black Bat preparing to bring the hurt to a dirty thug. The Black Bat story along with several other stories is scheduled to come out in a pulp hero anthology from Moonstone books in a few months. I'll plug it some more when I find out a shipping date!

  18. Hi!
Preface: The benefit of using the pencil tool to ink in photoshop (or a similar tool in other programs) is that you can easily and precisely select and fill areas with color with out the tolerance and transparency issues that make paintbrushed lines trickier to color.

Digital lineart tip: If you are using the pencil tool (or any other aliased tool) for your lineart, it's a good idea to make your "working" file two to four times larger (in height and width) than the size that you want for the finished file. The result will be smoother lines when you shrink it back down at the end of the project.

In the example below, the lovely Ellie artwork (by Swissy and DarthDelicious) is 526 pixels wide. The left half was drawn at 526 pixels wide and not resized. The right half was drawn at a size of 2000 pixels wide then reduced to 526 pixels wide. Hopefully this image will show the slightly pixelated lines on the left side and somewhat smoother lines on the right:

(Although the left side says "color by...", I used the uncolored version provided by DarthDelicious for this tip).

Important: After you flatten and reduce a file, always save a new copy with a different file name so you still have the larger file in case you wish to return to it.

    Hope that's useful!

    4) You both seem seem to have such a good attitude about receiving feedback and interacting with the community
    5) family art collaborations! so cool.

Any way.. keep up the good work.
  21. Hi!
I think ChristopherRobin might have mentioned this tip before. If you are using the pencil tool (or any other aliased tool) for your lineart, it's a good idea to make your "working" file two to four times larger than the size that you want for the finished file. I think the result will be smoother lines when you shrink it back down at the end of the project.

For example if the finished size of the lovely Ellie artwork above is 526 pixels wide, it is a good idea to draw and paint it at a size of about 1052 or 2104 (approximately) then when you are finished, save it and then reduce it down to 526 pixels wide and save it as a separate file (so you still have the larger file in case you wish to return to it).

I hope it's ok for me to post an example. It's not 100% polished up but hopefully you can see the pixels on the left side and somewhat smoother lines on the right:

  22. Thanks VexXxa!
    Thanks Katfood!
Always a pleasure to see you both!

Here's a pinup I did of the red name: "Lighthouse" a while back.
  23. Cool portal technique, Bubba. I like how the effect came out.
