  1. Gratz to you Famke. Been a long time since that evening in May 2005 when we met at Steel Canyon Green Line station cos I wanted to join the Femmes.

A long road and no mistake, many congratulations
  2. Please add:

    Proximity - Energy/Energy/Force Blaster

There are more Femmes not listed too, but don't know their powersets off the top of my head.
  3. I'll stick my oar back into this thread as it's still going.

I played an Energy/Energy Blaster to 50, soloed a lot, grouped a lot. Loved it.

Now Moonlit Shadow, my Empath, is level 30. She has all 8 currently available primary powers, and only 2 attacks. She has Assault and Tactics, plus Recall Friend.

When I join a big team, I know I can keep the majority Fort'd, put CM on the Defenders/Blasters, use all 3 heals at my disposal, and drop RA/RegenA when necessary. In a big team, I'm not really there to blast, and if I do, my endurance drains fast. But if we've all been buffed, then I'll make some use of my endurance recovery by popping a red and a yellow and getting stuck in, still mindful of the teams health/endurance and status.

It's a lot more work than being a Blaster, and in many ways, much more rewarding.

    Nice lighthearted story.

After this and the comprimising pictures of Ecs with Statesman and Addy she's going to be one popular toon to team with

    [/ QUOTE ]

Aye it really only works if you know of Ecstatica's reputation.

Although her streaking around Bloody Bay at the last Defiant Xmas meetup probably helped cement that rep

Thanks for the kind words, I like the story but it probably goes over the haeds of people who haven't teamed with any of the Femme Fatales. However that's a risk with a lot of comedy.

I would allso have to agree on a ENG\ENG blaster, but I seem to have evolved into a bit of a blapper now at lvl 40, purley unintentionally I assure you. When they give you powers like total focus well can you blame me, but I must admit it still feels a bit strange when you fighting side by side with a tank.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Yup, I was all about the range, even took Boost Range, but you kinda get forced into melee at 38ish when your two biggest damage dealing powers are both melee.

Fun though. Get some shields in your Epic set and you'll be able to tank, too
  6. Energy/Energy, you know you want to
  7. I've been going over some intensely boring legal stuff recently as part of my job, this is a tribute. Please let me know what you think

Base (How Low Can You Go?)

It seemed like any other day in the Femme Fatales base. Harvest Moon was busily installing a new workbench, with Lady DarkForce providing somewhat unnecessary supervision; “Put it there. No there. Hmmm, how about over here?”. Harvest Moon sighed. The last suggestion from LDF was the spot Harv had originally chosen.

Starstorm sat in a corner with a sketchpad. She was frowning with concentration, staring at Ace of Diamonds as she drew her portrait. Famke, interested in artwork herself, appraised the drawing. “Very good Star! But why aren’t you drawing her face down?” “Then that’d be Ace of Clubs, not me!” spoke Ace good-naturedly.

Pyra was unwrapping yet another set of shoes. She was surrounded by shoeboxes, all bearing the Icon logo. Amazingly, the loss of her Hasten power had not diminished her shoe-buying abilities. “You keep buying shoes sweetie, and we’re gonna need to put more rooms in this place to store them!” said Caereen with a snicker.

Suddenly a loud buzzer sounded. “Prox, can you get the door?” shouted the diminutive human/cat melded form of Steel Claw. At that moment, Proximity was standing on her bed facing Anath in a pillow fight. Stopping to nod an acknowledgement to Steel allowed Anath to sneak a final shot in, causing Proximity to lose her balance and fall off the bed. “I win!” grinned Anath as she helped Proximity up.

Gesturing rather unkindly to Anath, Prox made her way to the entrance door of the supergroup base. Anyone allied with the Femme Fatales wouldn’t have needed to use the doorbell; they would have know the security code. Tapping away on a door entry system, Prox disabled the base’s defence grid and pressed the door release button, primed and ready to fire off a stunning bolt of energy if the visitor was hostile. There had been talk of the Freakshow trying to raid supergroup bases for technology, and she wasn’t taking any chances.

The door slid open, revealing a short, chubby man in an ill-fitting suit. He opened his mouth and began a long, officious drone, “Hello, er, madam,” he looked cautiously at Prox before continuing, “I’m a surveyor, sent here on behalf of the Paragon City Health and Safety Department. I’m here to check that all health and safety guidelines and protocols are being observed as per new government standards that have been recently introduced via new legislative measures.”

Prox’s eyes, usually glowing, had actually glazed over. She’s stopped listening after the first mention of the phrase “health and safety”. “Famke, its for you!” she shouted, glad to be able to pass this annoyance on to her supergroup leader.

Famke breezed over to the door (thankfully not wearing the costume that makes her look like a giant pink lightbulb, Prox noted). The surveyor took another cautious look through the doorway before speaking to Famke. “Er, as I was just explaining to your colleague, due to the new health and safety regulations I have to establish whether these premises conform to new safety standards by checking for any high category hazards”. Caereen’s ears had pricked up, and she marched over.

“You’re examining a superhero base for hazards?? Why pick on the only people who are helping to protect this city? Go and have a word with Atta in the Hollows about health and safety, Grendel’s Gulch is a nightmare! Go find someone in Baumton and talk to them about the impact of this new legislation after the Rikti invasion! Do a risk assessment of Overbrook and work out why it’s now called Faultline! But no, you have to come in here and assess things because it’s easier. Sometimes I wonder why we bother…”

Cae stormed off in a huff. The surveyor swallowed nervously. “So, er, may I come in?”. Famke ushered him in. “Listen up everyone, this nice gentleman here needs to have a look round our base, let him access anything he needs to.”

“Actually, I, er, need to ask a few questions first.” The surveyor got out a datapad and started entering a few notes. “Right, do you have any problems with excess heat?” Ashtoreth, Moma Knows Best and Fiery Rose all looked up sharply, their fire shields burning brightly. The trio turned on their blazing auras, and the surveyor started in surprise before making notes on the datapad.

“Hmmmm, OK. How about excess cold?” Magic Babe and Moonshiver looked down, unsuccessfully trying to hide their Ice powers. The surveyor made more notes before looking up again.

“Right, any long term exposures to EM fields or radiation?” Caereen grinned and produced her green-glowing accelerated metabolism manoeuvre right in front of the surveyor. He looked like he was about to vomit, but dutifully filled out more notes on the datapad.

“Does the base contain any Volatile Organic Compounds?” he asked quietly. “No, but myself and Steel Claw can generate energy from our bodies that we can expel in a giant explosion, is that volatile enough for you?” said Proximity.

“Oh, no!” said the surveyor in dismay, tapping out several more entries on the datapad. “It doesn’t look like I need to fill in the rest of the survey form. This place contains at least 8 category 1 hazards, probably more. I’m afraid there will be no option except to shut this base down.”

This was greeted by a chorus of dismay by the present Femmes. “Don’t worry girls, we still have a secret weapon!” said Famke. “Ecs, get out here!” Ecstatica slinked out from one of the bedroom suites, wearing only a towel with “Ecs-rated” emblazoned on it. “Yes boss?” asked Ecs. “Can you convince our friend here not to file his report?” whispered Famke. “Sure thing boss”, smiled Ecs. She took the surveyor by the hand, with her free hand, she ran her fingers down the crumpled suit. “Oh, my!” exclaimed the surveyor, “what do you do?” “Blow people’s minds!” purred Ecs, leading him into the bedroom.

The Paragon City Health and Safety Department later received a very complimentary report on the Femme Fatales base. There were no category 1 or 2 hazards identified.

I will be online with "Pointy" Give a tell if you are intrested.

Didn't know that was you, Smooth. Played alongside you last night as Moonlit
  9. Thanks for the discussion and debate on this, I appreciate everyones views.

In the end, on Moonlit's respec, I DIDN'T respec out Absorb Pain, as I have found it more useful as time went on, and even when I joined a team of Femmes sk'ed fighting AVs, I still needed to use it. So it stays.
  10. Age, as in how old your character is.
  11. I have mine 3 slotted for Recharge (SOs) and one Def buff DO. I can keep 3 or 4 people Fort'ed at once

I tend to try and Fort the Blasters/Scrappers first, then the Tanks.
  12. Gratz Ecs, now you need to streak round Atlas in celebration. That'll get all the lowbie heroes eyes popping out
  13. So in conclusion to what the establish heavyweight Empathy users are saying but not actually typing:

    I'm a [censored] Empath

    Fair enough
  14. Well the tank we had in the respec trial was possibly the worst tank I've ever had the misfortune to play alongside, so maybe that's colouring my opinion of AP a bit.

I certainly didn't have time to blast as I was looking after everyone, so I wasn't trying to attract aggro. The tank couldn't hold aggro so I probably got some aggro inadvertantly. The worst bit was the DoT attacks, were you're watching the health bar get lower and lower whilst still seeing the AP icon on there
  15. Hi,

I know this has been discussed before, but bear with me.

I took Absorb Pain at 24, very late, yes, but I was worried about the "can't heal yourself" part.

Now I just did the 1st Respec trial as the only "non-targetted heal" Defender (stepping deftly over that minefield) and it was hard. The problem was that if the team is in need of you using AP because your other heals haven't come back, or cos more than one person is redlining, then it seems that a few seconds after you use it, you die cos of incoming enemy fire, and then most of the team dies cos you're not there to heal them.

In a good team, you don't need to use it.

In a bad team, if you use it, you die, then everyone dies.

Just doesn't seem to be worth it, so I am looking to respec it out. Glad we hung on (barely) and saved the reactor.

So, I've had my say, what do you other Empaths think of Absorb Pain?
  16. I can't help it if people take my "Hug me for RA" bind literally can I? All those Spines Scrappers!
  17. Proximity

    Anath Dings 50

Gratz Anath, always been fun teaming with you. The 50 is well deserved
  18. ...that I love CoH. Everything just went right today, on as Moonlit Shadow, my wee Empathy/Energy Defender.

    - Killed Paladin (first time I'd ever seen it, not ever seen it with Prox)

    - Got to 20, did cape mish with understanding team
    - Got second costume slot

    - Got Tough and Medic badges (always wanted Medic )
    - Got the Toy Collector badge after opening around eighty billion presents

Plus generally teamed with some lovely people, lots of fun and banter.

    I love this game!
  19. Aye thanks to all those who organised it, and definitely thanks to all those who attended and made it a fun night
  20. Assuming Proximity is fished out from Peregrine Island unscathed... I still can't make it, sorry

Good luck to all if it goes ahead though
  21. Well done Kat Inferno, a Blaster who took it to extremes at all times
  22. Hi all,

I've just knocked together a simple webpage to put my creative output into.

It's basically a repository for my character's biographies, origin stories and pictures.

It's not finished yet as there's some content to be added, but have a look and see what you think.

    Thanks
