I could be reading this wrong, but after seeing some of the nerfs handed down to us by the devs. I want to know for sure. That's all I ask. Let's not forget ED, or the Hammi O nerf, or any of the other nerfs that have been handed down since CoH went live.

Scrappers out damage blasters in melee. Blasters AT mod is 1, while scrappers is 1.125. Scrappers also get unresistable criticals of 2x damage 5% of the time, which can be compared to Blasters 33% unresistable damage.
Energy Melee's Stuns coupled with toggle dropping pretty much make the damage a secondary effect. While the blasters (who have little or no mez protections) are used to functioning with break frees active, most scrappers are not, as they rely on their inherent protection powers to keep them safe.
In other words, despite your toggle powers protections, pretend you don't have them and prepare based on that -- because those protections will be knocked down at some point.
[/ QUOTE ]
Are you saying they are going to be nerfing powers like Intergration and other mez protections for melee powersets so they are unreliable?
Not to put too fine of a point on it, or offend anyone. But screw that. Why not just scrap those powersets altogether. Idiot ideas like this is what's killing this game and driving people away. I have more to say on the subject but at this point I dont want to risk smackdown by Cuppajo. -
Oh, are you kidding me? Stalkers are going to get a snipe attack that does critical hit damage....The same damage that's currently NOT resistable in game?
Well of course I guess we should wait for it to hit test and try things out, but how many 8 man stalker teams do you see lining up snipes on the same poor scrapper who wont even know what hit em? -

Chimera is really good with his bow. Sure, he can still miss, but it won't be often.
[/ QUOTE ]
Not to do any badmouthing here. But doesnt it seem like this response totally glosses over the complaint. Cant we at least get this looked at? And not on your servers either, on the live servers would be preferable. In the past there's been differences.... -

Making an absolute statement like "Mayhem Missions are versus Longbow" based on a single screen shot is a stretch, to say the least.
From that screen shot, the most you can realistically say is that "IF that is a shot of a Mayhem Mission, then SOME of them will have Longbow in them."
[/ QUOTE ]
QFT - that is just an example of a group that might be in a Mayhem Mish.
Anyway, most of the mayhem missions will be in Oranbega...
*ducks*
JUST KIDDING! please don't hurt me...

Cuppa, I wuv you! -
Amazing, simply amazing. Nowhere has a Red named said that all Mayhem missions would be against Longbow. But some yahoo (No offense Infamous Brad. Everyones allowed to have a opinion, it's the responses that I'm going after this time) with 175 posts makes a wild no evidence statement and everybody and their friend who hasnt yet played CoX freaks out.
It's really kinda sad.
Now then, not that I have any proof, but knowing how Jack and crew thinks. You'll be facing many groups in Mayhem missions. You'll face Longbow, the Paragon City Police with the aid of the surviving 8 (At the highest levels of the game), Crey, maybe the Rikti, Portal Corps police (We can only hope....), Arachnos (That's right kiddies. Dont be surprised if a contact decides they want a Arachnos since lab or whatever put out of commission....permenently), and maybe even Malta or the Sky Raiders if Lord Recluse wants to make a point that the Rogue Isles are HIS and they are only welcome as he wishes it.
I think it's time to have a little faith in the devs. These are the same people who brought us Striga Isle and Croatoa. There is talent there. Not everything they do is going to be a perfect 10, but you know what. Not everything they do is gonna be a 1 either.
Until it's on test I would hope to see people drooling over what's coming, not [censored] about what's coming. When it goes on test, if it sucks then tell them about it and flame away. Cause I'll be right beside ya. -
While it really is none of our buisness. I would love to know of Arctic and Alexa are still with Cryptic/PlayNC or if they've totally left the company.
My gut feeling tells me that they too are now with Tabula Rasa, which is great. When beta testing comes around I'll be there. Just like I'm there with AA now.
But I'd also be lying if it doesnt worry me about the thinning of staff for CoX The game got twice as big and the staff is getting smaller. So either they're running things alot more efficient, or it's a bad omen. -

Arctic and Alexa are getting MARRIED!

Say WHUUA?
Best wishes to you Arctic_Sun. And hopefully you'll be returning to us someday. -
I am very much looking forward to fighting against a hovercopter. At first the idea of thug pets turned me off. I've been hoping for elemental MM's for awhile. But lately I've been strangely looking forward to it. Should be interesting to see what seperates them from mercs.

CuppaJo is still on her vacation. Unless she's just hiding from me. Which would be hard because I'm such a rabid-fanboy-stalker.

Anti-Cuppa, I love that avatar -
Honestly folks, it all comes down to tactics. I hate to say it but with a little thought you can pretty much mess up any NPC heroes (Or villain for CoH side) battle tactics. We all remember Malta and what a pain in the butt they are, but we all learned to take out the Sapper first.
With the bad AI design of CoV mobs we just need to use it to our advantage. We're villains! When in comic book history did we ever fight fair? Only when the odds were massivly in our favor. So tip the odds in our favor here. Use hit and run tactics. If your a MM sacrifice your pets using Agressive option. Target a baddie and send them in, then put them in stay mode and stay back and help when you can. When it goes south you bail and let your pets take the fall, they're minions and they dont matter.
Your a Stalker? Now my xp with them is limited because I dont think they were properly set up in the first place. Plactate or whatever it's called doesnt cut it. There should be a power that lets you draw one of the NPC's from the group for you to deal with them. Think Obi-Wan in the original Star Wars when he did that little force thing to distract the Stormtroopers. Give it a to hit and if it fails your pulled out of hiding, whatever. Anyways! Thats not the point. Assassin strike and RUN. Dont forget that rest recharges faster. It's the most unused power in the game from what I've seen.
Corruptors, just like a blaster use your own dirty tricks and hit and run techniques against these bozo's.
And Brutes, well heh. Use limited hit and run techniques to take out the one or two or three annoying mobs and then do what you do best, SMASH!!!
Of course this is all from the soloist point of view. Grouping is a whole other animal and to cover it would make this post oh sooooo much longer then it already is. Use you groups strengths and find your enemies weaknesses. It can be done.
And for God sakes devs. Dont nerf anything for at least another 6 months to a year. Lets remember that most villains dont even have SO's in their powers yet. We cant afford them because of the crappy Infamy to Prestige designs you put in. (Thats a whole other rant right there!) -

This is absolutely ridiculous Devs, and is a gross oversight on your part. Tankers and scrappers have to above and beyond to beat a level 50 blaster, but an EM tanker can do it easily.
Bravo.
[/ QUOTE ]
First of all, I think we need a change of thinking. Heroes shouldnt be worrying that much about fighting other heroes. A scrapper or tanker should never really have to go against a blaster, unless it's in the arena for fun. All matters of balance should be heroes vs villains and vise versa. And once again, it should be stressed the PvP and PvE shouldnt affect each other. -

*patiently waits to see if Manticore will explain himself, in person, soon*
[/ QUOTE ]
Manticore funded Wyvern to do the jobs Longbow couldn't for one reason or another. Wyvern as a whole are not as concerned with political niceties and are focused on results. It is likely that many of their agents share Manticore's attitude toward fighting crime.
[/ QUOTE ]
Your uh, talkin about yourself in the third person bub. Maybe Manticore should ask Manticore if it's time for a few weeks vacation? -

I absolutely love the Port Oakes one by the docs. The family is there interrigating some guy, who's wearing cement shoes! When you attack the family's men, the guy with the cement shoes hops off.

Same thing happens for missions if you are solo. Most people won't lag or disconnect in the hour it takes to get the meteors or launch code. If you honestly have that much of a problem look into what is making you disconnect. Odds are it is on your end.
[/ QUOTE ]
Heh, now I know THAT'S not true. Lately CoV has been buggy and laggy as all get out. With nonstop mapserver disconnects at certin times of the night. And it's not my system, and not my video drivers, and not my internet connection because when I ask about it in arena chat I get dozens of responses that they're getting the same problem. -

There was a bug found near the end of beta where it was realized that the Upgrade powers did not benefit from Enhancements in the Henchmen powers.
This was fixed and was in the version that was on test last week. Unfortunately the patch note did not go with it, AND no one told me the fix was up there.
Anyway, long story short is that the fix is now LIVE, and your Henchmen should be fully Enhanced when you use your Upgrade powers.
Sorry about this screw up. I wanted you guys to test it before it went to Live to see if it made MM's too powerful.
[/ QUOTE ]
Not sure if this is too powerful but I can solo on relentless (Hardest difficulty) at a decent rate. I am a merc/traps Mastermind.
Edit: I am currently 27 with all of my SO's. Once I hit 32 it may become a blood bath with all my AE's.
[/ QUOTE ]
MMs were able to solo at that difficulty during beta with the bug in place. It's just a matter of how fast.
[/ QUOTE ]
Yes but now I can clear a relentless mission in the time it took me to clear a heroic mission before the bug was fixed. I just took down a +3 freak tanker (And I am Mercs) VERY fast compared to before. It used to take 5 minutes, now it took like a minute.
[/ QUOTE ]
You know what, I'm not sure I believe you. I know you cant do that with robots or undead. Because I've seen those MM's in action. Go do a demorecord and let the devs see it. Before you go sprouting out stuff that gets the whole powerset nerfed. -

Nope, we suck, we need to be boosted, we do near zero damage even with this.
And anyone who says we do enough or too much damage is a damn liar!

S.H. Once again your voice rings with the gift of um, uh.
crap....
Is that insanity? Or hidden knowledge? -
Ok, time to interject a little bit here. First of all alot of what you can or cannot solo depends upon your personal skills with the game. Not everybody plays the game the same way or with the same mindset. Or is able to play as well as others. Keeping that in mind is a must when you think about how he wants the game to be.
He's gotta make content that the better players can have as much fun playing and keep it within limits that the less experienced or capeable players can play. By the way, less capeable or experienced isnt a slam on anyones ability with CoH. Some people's systems dont allow them to play with the same level of ability as others, same with their connection DSL or dialup.. Also I seem to remember a very sad thread not that long ago saying that there was someone with a disability due to a stroke only being able to play CoH with any ability. So the content that goes in game has to be for all skill levels. (Enough talking about that...)
States is trying to make a game that's fun for everyone. Not a game thats fun for no one. He listens to us, and uses his own expierences to fashion that game. Sometimes he's spot on, sometimes you want to smack him in the face with a lit stick of Dynomite (Uh Statesman, you got a little Artz on ya... Kudo's to anyone who gets that.)
But his heart is in the right place, I've seen enough and read enough to know that much. Thats my opinion of course.
Now onto the idea of forced grouping... No, I dont think thats what he has in mind. There's gonna be times where you need more then 1 person to do a mission. Whether you got the Envoy of Shadows, or a disarm 3 bombs at the same time mish. Some missions just do require a team to do. There is nothing wrong with that at all. But easily a majority of the missions can be done solo. Even for controllers. I have a grav controller and I've had no problems at all soloing post I5. It's all in how you play the game. -
Sanfrantastic. Thanks for the info. Should be interesting to see how my computer does given the info listed there.
-
Now I've got the most basic question in the world. Has any system specs at all been release for CoV? I've heard that the graphics are going to be a improvement on the CoH design. But does anyone know any system specs?
-
Aye, please tell your brother to do something that my old martial arts teacher told me. "Protect your coconut!" (your noggin)
Whether you agree with what we're trying to do over there or not. I just hope that we can get our soldiers out there with as few casualties as possible. That's not a game they're playing over there. I hope he gets back safe States. -

Umm...anyone else wondering what a monument minion is? And I didnt know urrents had bosses, luts, and minions...
[/ QUOTE ]
Go to Striga Island. Yes, Tuirrets have bosses, lt's and minions. -
The sounds arent that bad. You can hear just a bit of warwolf in the Shriek power I think (The first cone power you can get) I think it's a little below par as far as accuracy goes in comparison to the other powersets. Expecially the cone attacks, how can you miss with a sound?? But thats realism kicking in. Also the damage scale seems a little on the weak side in comparision with the speed of the attacks. The short range sonic attack (cant remember the name, but it's like the 3rd power in I think) doesnt say anything in the description about it being a shorter range attack (Like blaze is for fire blasters) I bugged it for consideration that something should be added into the description. Overall I do like the sound effects, except maybe for the first power, but as it's your most common attack, I can understand it being toned down a bit. (HAHA I said TONE!!! PHEAR MY BAD PUNS!!!!!!!1cuppajo'scoffieiscold!!)
Bleh, I think I'm losing my mind. -

I guess I made most of my general Archery comments in the other thread, but I will post some here too.
The Ice Arrow animation is a little weird, the formation of the ice and the hlding of the villian doesn't seem to coincide with when the arrow appears to hit.
I do believe that this would make an excellent blaster secondary as the powers are very much akin to the devices line. I know a lot of players would love to play as an archery blaster with both primaries and secondaries, because as a TA/Archery defender I definately feel more like a blaster than a defender because of the nature of the secondary.
[/ QUOTE ]
Agreed enough that I'll use my 1 post to push the fact. Trick arrow very much has a feel of a blaster secondary. And a very useful blaster secondary. But asking it to be moved from controller to blaster secondary pool might be a little much to ask.
Blinding arrow does seem to miss a little too much. With my low level defender I've sometimes see it miss 2 in a mob 4 of blue or white minions. Maybe make it so it can accept a accuracy enhancement...
