  1. Dual Blades might be the second least used at least. It doesn't seem to be underpowered, just different, and no two people can agree on what the best build for it is.

    Pulse Rifle set

    I want an Explosives primary.
  3. You might like Sonic, I've seen a Sonic/EM that played like a Dominator.
  4. Another reason they need to port Assault Rifle to Defenders. Ignite anyone?

    Mercs/???

My Merc/FF is a pretty effective toon. Since they're all ranged it's not hard to keep them in the bubble, and FF is good at keeping foes away. Course there's the bubbling everyone every 5 minutes (you don't HAVE to, but why wouldn't you?) which some people hate, but I'm used to it- having your pets be more durable means you don't have to rely on Bodyguard Mode so much, and can have more control over what your pets shoot.
  6. Just as well my first MM is a bubbler, I've tried another combination and it felt weird.

Granted, it's Merc/FF, once I've bubbled up I can sit back and join in the hail of firepower.

Incidentally, there's an X-Man called Lifeguard whose power was to manifest whatever powers were necessary to save a life.

    [/ QUOTE ]

IIRC she was actually a half-human, half-alien hybrid and not a mutant. Also, that was during a really unfortunate period of bad ideas for the series, and should not be looked at as any decent source of inspiration.

    [/ QUOTE ]
Why am I not surprised in the least?

And I still say this character should be Natural.
  8. Actually, I did drop the final mission out of disgust.

Hmm, I think I finally have a MA arc idea: "How It Should Have Ended."
  9. I think if you want to transfer influence, you're better off doing it with solid assets rather than raw Inf itself. Rare salvage or recipes, or even some high-level enhancement drops, can all sell for a lot of money to a lowbie.
  10. This'd make a great fan project though. Even machinima with voices, I mean c'mon.
  11. I think the Titans always had those powers, they just didn't work properly before.
  12. I've only had one interaction with this guy, and I already hate him. The Vivacious Verandi arc could have ended in hilarity, when all the villain groups you've been messing with figure out it was all you and team up to get payback. But no, the end amounts to Hardcase going 'stop having fun or ill totally shoot you'. Now, even stuff like Arbiters is intimidating enough to be a decent justification to intimidate the player character, but a random demon hunter on the wrong side of the game? Against, say, a renegade space marine who can summon 'a considerable amount of firepower' in spades on a whim?

Devs, make an official higher-level arc where we get to smack this guy around like a ragdoll, please.
  13. Note that a game card for any NCsoft game will work for this one. I picked up some Auto Assault cards on the cheap when that game shut down.

We'll find out sometime this month.

    When? WHO KNOWS!

    The Shadow knows.

    ...creepy [censored].

    That would be Dark Watcher.

I said that designing and implementing a system that prevents what the devs consider abusive behavior would be much more effective than relying on players policing themselves. That is not in any way unrealistic, and it is what they SHOULD have done before releasing MA.

    [/ QUOTE ]
Yeah, actually, it is very unrealistic. You can design the system to stop some forms of abusive behavior (like how they removed prisoners from the system with the last update) but removing all of them is quite impossible. You've got to have human beings doing the policing. Unless you feel like hiring a staff of mission reviewers, having players do it is the only way to go.

    [/ QUOTE ]

That only depends on how realistic a definition of abusive behavior is used to begin with. Limit it to clearly defined criteria, and it is feasible. Try and include something that prevents any & all types of abusive behavior and it quickly crosses over into completely unrealistic.

    [/ QUOTE ]
Limit it to clearly defined criteria, and the exploiters will find a way to subvert that criteria by any means.
  17. What if Whirling Hands got a buff?
  18. I don't see what all the fuss is about, my EM/Inv is rapidly becoming one of my favourite characters.

    Changing Origins

As for why there are few mutants walking around with detrimental powers...well, that's where standard evolutionary protocol comes in. If your mutation makes your life difficult, harder, or even impossible, your survival rate is diminished. Negative mutations die off, while positive ones thrive.

    [/ QUOTE ]

The problem is that we don't get to see mutants with detrimental powers at all. Evolution doesn't act insofar as killing those with less desirable attributes via external methods. It acts by spreading that gene less. If it's really random, there would actually be X-gene carriers than are fundamentally weaker than the average person, especially considering some of the things that the X-gene seems to affect, such as regeneration, cognition, sensory perception, and physical strength. Unless the X-gene operates exclusively by improving rather than actually operating as genetic mutation would imply, you'd expect to see at least as many cases of mutants that die as soon as puberty hits because their X-gene kicks in and wipes out their regenerative capabilities or others that suddenly go blind, deaf, and stupid because the X-gene just crippled them as there are that are capable of super human regeneration and perception.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I can think of a few that I've read about over the years. Say, a boy whose lungs transformed into gills...in a desert community. Or the woman whose disfiguring mutation is triggered by the stress of being in a car accident, and whom no one will help or even touch because she no longer looks even remotely human, leaving her to die from her injuries.

Most of these cases had mutations that either made them pathetic or (in)directly contributed to their deaths. The thing is, these characters would never be spotlighted in any sort of media, and are relegated to tragic anecdotes. Their abilities make them poor "superheroes", and their depressing life stories are hardly what the public want to hear about.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Even a lot of 'good' mutations come with some really big downsides.

Look at Cyclops, who if it weren't for modern science, would not be able to turn off his eye beams at all. He's got no control over his powers besides closing his eyes, rendering him effectively blind if it weren't for that visor.

And Rogue. Yes, she can absorb anyone's powers, memory and life force- and can't turn it off either. She can never make physical contact with another living being without killing them as long as she has that power.
  20. I'd say you should have a Invention Crafting Table closest to the entrance, and teleporters near the hospital. Enhancement Tables might be a good idea if a few of the members are going for the IO crafting accolade.
  21. On a weird note, I heard a team broadcasting for a 'high level dragon' in Atlas. What the hey?

I lucked out a few times with my first few toons and had invasions start right when I hit that mission. Made it VERY easy. Lots of equal level Rikti spawning all around you made the hunt quick. Side note: when are we getting those back again? I miss them.

    [/ QUOTE ]
They happen every time someone completes the Lady Grey Task Force.

[/ QUOTE ]I know that. I just miss the occasional weekends where the Rikti get ornery and start raiding every zone like every hour. Same for zombies.

    [/ QUOTE ]
The zombies happen every Halloween. The Rikti... whenever the devs feel like it. They don't do it too often, people get sick of aliens invading every five minutes.

    Just Saying Hi !

Actually, there's not that much powerlevelling in the AE anymore. Since the exploits were closed, most of the farming teams are throwing themselves at missions way too difficult for them and wondering why they keep getting wiped out. That's the definition of a noob.
