They both do different effects (I think) so don't 'stack', but they can both work at the same time.
Force Bubble is KB, Repulsion Field is repel, and different mobs are resistant to one or the other.
Personally Repulsion field is a bit small for me, but Force Bubble has situational uses. -
Quote:On Khelds I can understand skipping fitness (Hasten less so), I was more having a rant against those who 'refuse' to take powers based entirely off the fact that they don't like being 'forced' into something.I'll hold my hands up to skipping fitness pool and hasten on both my 4 yr old Khelds.
I see so many people moaning that stamina should be inbuilt and they refuse to take it as a result it does my head in. Why would you limit your own performance based on that logic? I can understand if you toon doesn't need it, but at least have some real reason for not picking it rather than something made up! -
Quote:Though I suspect that was semi-joking...I am planning to build a WS and in my mids build I skipped it...should I not have?
If you have to ask then the answer is no. It is one of those powers that should only be skipped if you really know what you are missing out on and have some kind of reason for. If you haven't got a reason then it is usually the wrong power to skip. -
I only managed to skim though since I am at work, but the advice about 2 groups is something I am definately going to adopt with my latest MM.
I love how I have got my main MM to 50 and am still learning! -
Dr Doom maybe wasn't the best example but it would be nice to have some kind of useful attack. Currently I am levelling up a lowbie and hitting for 12 damage is really quite depressing. It doesn't even have to be an attack on decent recharge, just has to be something worthwhile.
The bot names isn't something that has bothered me I must say, but you can hide player names so hiding bot names "shouldn't" be that hard?
And yes, better AI. Formations, a proper 'stay' command, and a switch that lets you prevent pets from running into melee no matter how few ranged attacks they have. -
I would look into using cheap dual action IO's, like 2 Dam/Acc's instead of one Add and one Dam, that way you get higher %'s and can have both.
Personally I would never have anything less than 99% accuracy slotted into any of my pets, no matter what I run on.
Also the way I see it is that if you slot them better you can up your difficulty rather than lowering your slotting because you only run on a low difficulty. -
Sorry my reply was a bit flippant, I was in a rush
Unfortunately although I know Bots quite well I don't know /Dark much so can't help much further. The only thing I can say is that an immob with -kb is an absolute godsend, I played my Bots/FF for ages without Electric Fences, then as soon as I respecced I felt like a god! -
Challenge/Provoke is mainly so I can hold the attention of AV's and the like, I would rather not have any AV kill my Assault Bot if I can help it.
I have however realised that I might need better stealth depending on how /Traps plays, but I am only level 7 at the moment so am not sure. Also I will see how I get by without Aid Self/Aid Other. -
Grab Electric Fences immob from the Mu Epic, immob something, whack down a Tar Patch and let the Assault Bot do what he does best.

Quote:I think if Hasten went that way it would be reduced to about 20 or 30% +recharge and become much less use to those who like it the most. Though I admit it would probably be of more use to the masses who don't build for perma-Hasten.EDIT :: I just had to add that if Hasten was a passive +Recharge like Mental Training for example, then it would become as useful and important as Health and Stamina are and therefore would be an improvement to almost any build in the game. Since that is not the case, Hasten is useful only if and when you can actually activate it.
As to the comment about a luxury, I would agree on some builds (Mainly SO or normal IO builds) when it isn't up very often, but the OP did state he was looking at +recharge builds, taking it well into the ranks of an important power. -
Quote:You changed your summary to exactly what it should have been, you don't feel poorer, and that is what I was saying. So no ... I've learned to live without Hasten ... and I do not feel the poorer for it.
It doesn't mean adding Hasten wouldn't make you better, it just means you don't feel you need to make any changes. That isn't a bad thing by any means.
I just don't like seeing any posts which can make someone who doesn't quite know everything make the wrong decision. I always understood your logic in not picking Hasten, I just don't think others should be thinking about not picking it unless they are fully aware how much difference it can make.
I always try and point out facts as best I can, people can make their own mind up how they use those facts. In this case the fact is that Hasten improves most builds. -
Quick question about this:
How endurance heavy is Bots/Traps? I have been looking at this build and trying to work out a few changes (I Tankermind so needed to get Challenge) and am thinking about dropping a few of the recovery bonus' but don't know how vital they are?
The build I have come up with is:

Quote:It isn't really anything to do with DPS particularly, because that requires more power thought and slotting, but why would anyone not want their best attacks up more often?However... I must interject that what you're referring to is what all the "numbers guys" pray to:
Damage Per Second (DPS).
Also as mentioned Conserve Power for PB's and Eclipse for Warshades benefits massively from Hasten and I can't see any reason you wouldn't want those back faster.
Quote:I believe there are several Khelds around that don't pray to that god, nor do they try to "max" their character, and therefore can justifiably say they are "not poorer for it."
Quote:To say that "if you haven't reached your max potental, you cannot pass a mission/get the game objective done (kill enemies)" is a pretty naive statement, and not one I expect to hear from any "number cruncher." Not that I HAVE heard anyone specifically say that... But people do like to seemingly "walk that fine line" when making reference to "must have" powers.
Quote:I don't believe there are ANY "must have" powers in any build. There are powers that can make you "more effective" or "better" or "faster" or have "higher DPS." But, not having a power (like Hasten or Stamina) doesn't automatically place you in the "PHAIL POOL." Well, maybe it does if the end goal was to get the highest DPS...
However, if that wasn't the "end goal" of the toon, then I wouldn't say that the toon is necessarily a "failure."
Quote:There are many reasons people play this game... Having the best DPS is only one of them. And somehow, some of these said people (who don't play for highest DPS) can successfully complete a mission! (supposedly the objective of a superhero MMO--which is debateable)
Specific aims like 'best DPS' are just as out there as 'roleplaying' builds and unless someone specifically states that they don't like Hasten or whatever I would always assume they want to take the key powers. -

Quote:I almost cried just reading about them! I think seeing them would have made me cry. Or maybe report them as trying to deliberately grief me!I actually saw 3 today, one had the medicine pool instead and the other two were trying to get by on drain essence.
All three were between 24 and 40, and had plenty of badges. They were NOT AE babies.
*names withheld to protect the ignorant*
I almost cried. -
Quote:When I look at PB builds I see two reasons to take Hasten.hasten seems to be one of those fence sitting powers in Kheld builds. where its worth is really dependent on how much time you plan on staying in human form to get more benefit from it.
1 - Even in the forms you do not have a smooth attack chain out the box, and Hasten helps this massively - and gets you closer to your ideal attack chain. It also lets you get your heals recycled faster, thus increasing your attack and survivability. Even accounting for recharge slotting in the powers and Hasten's downtime you are looking at a 10% increase in effectiveness just from one power, maybe even more.
2 - Long recharge powers like Photon Seekers and Conserve Power are helped massively
However I cannot see a single good reason not to take it, especially if you are making a recharge build because why would you want to spend any inf at all getting recharge while missing out on the single biggest source available to you?
To me it seems like some people skip Hasten (And Stamina) out of some kind of vendetta against 'must have' pool powers. It isn't individual to go not pick them, it is more like cutting off your nose to spite your face (IE: A bad idea just in the quest for non-conformity). Individuality would be making a green costume, not skipping a very very useful power.
Quote:Personally speaking, I've refused to use Hasten in any of my character builds ... and never been the poorer for it.
At the end of the day if you want your build to be the best it can be then there are very few reasons to justify excluding Hasten. -
I have no actual experience of PvP on a Bots/Traps, but I have heard many people complaining that the only people you will ever kill are stupid scrappers who run straight at you through all your traps.
So the rest of the time most of the /Traps will be useless.
With that in mind I would make the best PvE build you can, and just make do in PvP rather than particularly speccing for it, since being able to survive and actually being able to fight effectively are very different. -
I would think it is more likely that they don't know how to stop it than anything else. I can't see why they would add it as part of a deliberate design, and it does seem like one of those things that might be a little complex to change.
And the reason bots will never bubble other peoples bots is because they would be bubbling forever on an all bots team and never actually do any fighting. Passive leadership toggles don't take any time. -

The way I see it is that just because a Peacbringer hasn't become a Nictus it doesn't mean they are good. At one point they did have a war and in order to create Nictus in the first place there had to be good PB's and bad PB's.
The only real difference between Nictus and PB's is chemical (Due to whatever science experiment changed them in the 1st place), and the fact that Nictus have had generations of evil breeding while PB's have generations of being good.
So Peacebringers could well be evil (Like Nictus wannabees), Warshades going evil is a bit harder to understand, but along the same lines.
After all the PB's and WS's we have today are not the ones that originally had the war and split off from each other, so there is a chance that some would start to have their own ideas.
Personally I don't think I would take my Warshade over to the other side, unless there was absolutely nothing lost by doing so, in which case all my toons will end up however they need to be to play both sides. -
Quote:I have a BoTZ -KB in Speed Boost on my Fire/Kin and it never seems to be active, even when running at level 50. I am not sure if it is just a bug in Speed Boost though because even using the power doesn't always give me the bonus.Yeah...I did see that table. However it's my personal experience that made me post this. I had the BotZ: KB protection slotted in Recall friend on my blaster. But towards the end of the Respec Trial mish I was getting bounced around a lot. And the bonus wasn't visible on my combat attributes screen. Even a lone Tank Smasher could knock me off my feet easily...

I like the way Granite Armor looks now, you got from an ok tanker to the worlds most awesome tanker and you look the part currently. Adding a few lumps of granite here and there wouldn't do it for me.
I just love seeing a large block of stone in the middle of an army of mobs, there is something about it that screams 'tank' in a way other sets don't have. -
Quote:Lord Recluse and Stateman are the only Incarnates in CoX at the moment. The term Incarnate is I think used to mean 'Of godly origin', since LR and States got their power from the Well of the Furies, which is something to do with the Greek gods."Incarnates will make their final appearance in the Going Rogue expansion. That's all I can say right now about that."
I'm not exactly sure what an "Incarnate" would be, whether or not it would be something we'd fight, or whether or not it'd be something that could be *created* by one of us... I really have no idea. I just know that the word "Incarnate" was used...
Perhaps there will be a third one somewhere (Or they may be talking about Tyrant), or it could be a new origin. But I would think for it to be a playable character it would have to be VERY powerful. -
I thought the uniques worked even if the pet wasnt summoned?
