Yeah the Dom revamp was probably the biggest thing that happened to them and you missed it off ...
It could be worse though, you could be a MM player and have been lumbered with Demons (Moo) and Beasts (Lol) -

Quote:Lol! 56 billionI really wouldn't count on that number. The same data set that the devs through out that number in, had the total inf in the game at 56 billion. If I see a blaster on a trial these days it's notable.
Also unless the full set of stats are released I will never believe anything like this, we don't know what level they are, how often they are played or anything that indicates popularity other than lots of people want to make a blaster, which is true, even my first toon was a blaster until I realised they sucked, and I still have that toon. -
Even if popular doesn't equal fun (Which is debatable because to use Synpase's example I think something looking good is fun) there is a reason it is popular and games like this should cater to the masses surely?
The beta testers should be considered as a whole to be representative of the game population, when almost all of us said 'we don't want it to be so restrictive' they should have listened instead of sticking to their idea of what we find fun, which as with many other things recently doesn't fit into everything we have found fun for the last 7 years.
I said on some thread somewhere that having power sets that behave in different ways is great (IE: regen being reactive and energy blast/storm having KB) because people can play the style they want, but incarnate powers don't let you pick the style so shouldn't force people down a less popular path. -
Play whichever AT you prefer.
When I saw TW I bought it and rolled one immediately, but even on an AT that I love (Scrapper) I found the Momentum mechanics put me off the set. If you love chasing Fury then you probably won't mind how Momentum affects it, but if you aren't such a fan of Fury then I think being a scrapper helps.
WP can be made plenty survivable on either. -
Quote:Oh I saw the problem, I think it was Arbiter Hawk making a post about how he decided having to think about a power was 'fun'.To reiterate: The problem is not in our ability to give good feedback, nor is it in their ability to receive it. Nor is it in the data and metrics we provide, and it's probably not in how they interpret that.
Having one persons idea of fun subjected onto us reminds me of way back when Jack was a lad. -
Quote:I have played this game on and off for 4 years, and most people who play regularly have a decent idea of that sets they see a lot of.No, and neither have you.
Blasters are the third most popular AT. In the high levels controllers get very popular. Neither of those are set and forget. As to which armored sets are the most popular, we have no idea.
I guess. I normally don't wait, I use something else instead.
There isn't a single set that I have never seen, but the popular ones I see a lot more of than the unpopular ones, and I can't imagine other peoples experiences being that vastly different to mine no matter how many times people tell me I can't prove x or y.
Blasters, controllers etc I don't count because they don't have survivability dedicated sets and controls etc which give survivability I put on par with attacks which obviously need a cooldown.
I should also add that I have never once seen a thread where someone asked for a defensive toggle to be made a click with downtime. But that does remind me of the changes to regen... -
Honestly if they did even port and change SS I can't see them leaving it any less than a top tier set. Losing the reliance on Rage and dropping the crash would probably improve the set for all but farmers.

Quote:Set wise I use Panacea anywhere I would previously have used Doctored Wounds for the +recharge. The proc and the set. I was considering slotting the set in Fast Healing. I'd lose the 12 % regen bonus from my Numinas but gain the proc and get 10% regen. I currently have the Numina unique, Miracle Unique and Regen. Tissue Unique slotted in FH so I'd have to move them elsewhere. FH is only five slotted.
I am not sure on a Kat/WP scrapper though, if you have the budget for a full set of this I would think you might want to be concentrating your set bonus' on giving you more defence rather than recharge, and extra regen isn't really worth too much for you. So it could be worth sticking to 6 Numina's if that is what you have and move this to a toon needing the recharge. -
Sucks
I will have to stay Rogue until I finish the arc.
Thank you for the replies though. -
Neither do the majority of people who enjoy being overpowered by abusing a set with only 3 good powers. Super Strength is broken.
Edit: Assuming that a revamp would nerf Rage and Footstomp even though I never said nerf the set just proves it. -
Quote:You have a good point there, which was what I tried to alude to with my * note that I edited into the last post.I most certainly would not prefer if it if I always survived. A 50% death rate per fight is higher than I would prefer, I think I like about a 95% success/fail rate. One death every 20 spawns or so works good for me.
Fight still need to be a challenge, so Hybrid shouldn't be an 'I Win' button, but having to wait on recharges is frustrating. -
Quote:Have you seen the majority of sets in the game and their corresponding popularity? And it doesn't occur to you that the information they have may point to the fact that more people find interactivity more fun? Your first thought is that your position is blindingly, obviously correct and the devs are ignorant of reality?
Most sets are set and forget, those that aren't are generally less played (Regen).
I don't honestly care one way or another which is most popular (I will admit I am selfish and want the game designed to please me), but I see very little evidence to show me I am wrong in this case. -
Quote:Wouldn't you prefer to always survive that fight rather than knowing you can win it 50% of the time? Here's an anecdotal example. I have a +3 Stone Melee / Fiery Aura Brute that I run in DA on +4/x8. I normally rely quite a bit on Barrier when piling into large numbers of Ancestral Sorcerers, because they have a fairly nasty defense debuff power. A couple of days ago, using T4 Melee Core, I was able to stay in the middle of a fresh spawn while debuffed by that power (Curse of Weariness) and Katana attacks, which together were dropping my L/S defense to around 12%. Twice during that my HP were pushed down to the 30-50% range in time for me to bounce back with Healing Flames before I cleared enough of the spawn that I was no longer in any real danger. I play DA repeatables a lot looking for Catalysts, and I've been in that situation before - without Melee Core I would have needed to pop Barrier to survive that level of debuff while standing in the middle of a fresh spawn.
It's not as dramatic a change as popping Barrier, but it was very, very noticeable.
It is soul crushing knowing I have to wait on a power to recharge before I can win a fight. For example my currently levelling toon DB/Nrg scrapper is 45 and soloes on +0/x8 but against Arachnos if I see 2 Tarantula Mistresses in one group I know that having Water Spout available means I win*, and not having it means I die in the alpha. Having to wait even 10s for it to cooldown between spawns kills my fun.
*Assuming I use my brains and take the Tarantula Mistresses out first, so it isn't an easy fight at all. -
Quote:To be fair it shouldn't take a load of angry beta testers to show the devs what people who play CoX find fun.ohhh no. Just NO.
All of you that missed beta and are disappointed with hybrid NOW...
NO.
Stop your complaining!
You forfeit all rights to complain because you didn't take part in beta, you didn't take fire for posting feedback and you didn't step up when it was important.
Our numbers probably would have gotten something decent in place but only if you guys and gals would have shown the hell up and taken the fire for voicing your concerns.
There was only a handful of us expressing our disdain on beta and we knew it would get sour on live but there just wasn't enough to outweigh the trolling parroting cheerleaders.
This is what we have now.
Next time friggin participate!
They should have metrics to know what sets are played, what powers are taken and how often they are used and should clearly know that always on powers are the preferred way of things.
Also if they are going to bother having us beta test stuff then they should listen to us as if we are a representative sample of the playerbase and not just say 'well you are only a small or elite group so we don't care'. -
Quote:I had this arguement elsewhere recently and some people did honestly think that it was a good idea having powers locked behind others. Here's a brief rant, in fact. Now that they've shown they're willing to turn fitness inherent and grant travel powers at level four or whatever it is, they should rethink the entire damn idea of pools. Why do we still need to take prereqs so that we can be slightly more defensively able? Does that make sense? Does it contribute to balance? Maybe someone thinks the answer to one of those questions is yes, but I'd love to know why.
Personally I am ok with it, but as long as the progression makes sense, Tough and Weave (+Survivability) behind Boxing and/or Kick (+Damage) makes no sense and very few characters will want both. -
1 - Energy Melee, which would see a pass as it gets ported to scrappers
2 - Super Strength, which again would see a pass as it gets ported to scrappers (And stalkers)
I agree with Arcana about changing all the T1 and T2 powers as well, I hate having to pick the fast recharging but weaker attack just so I have something to do at low levels.
And then blasters, and blast sets need a total revamp. -
-
If you are talking about the proc then am not sure where it stacks up against other similar procs (Numina, Miracle, Regenerative Tissue, Performance Shifter etc) but it does have the great advantage of making you feel awesome when the little green numbers float up over your head
-
On a related topic, I have just swapped my hero to villain in order to unlock the patron pools and I am now in the process of swapping back to hero (In order to settle at vigilante).
I have got as far as (But not accepted) the last mission because I am only level 45, my plan is to get to level 50, accept the mission and then swap sides so that I can keep trying to solo it but from the sounds of the answers I will lose the mission as soon as I become a hero?
I could stay as a rogue but really want the hero ozone portal. -
To add to John_Printemps' list I would include Leviathan Mastery for Water Spout from now on.
I have found it to be excellent mitigation (Amazing) and great for single target damage. So if you have no need for Body Mastery or Shadow Meld, then I would say it competes nicely against Fireball. -
I have only hit 43 so far but Water Spout is looking a very fun power
I am not sure how it is doing damage wise, but the KU very rarely moves things out of melee range (Nobody in teams has ever complained either) and is awesome mitigation. Against dangerous things like Carnies having it available allows me to solo on x8 where during the downtime I can die very fast.
I did a respec at level 32 to slot level 35 standard IO's and have been defence capped since I picked up Energy Drain at 35 so this is the first toon where I have been able to take on x8 before proper slotting. Even Carnies, Nemesis and Arachnos are falling before me. I do miss Shield Charge when fighting Rikti Drones, but otherwise I am very happy -
Another thing Stone suffers from is it's similarity to Super Strength mechanically. It has one massive heavy hitter, and a PBAoE, most of the rest you would want to make up from your secondary and pool powers. However SS does this better due to rage.
I recently did a comparison of SS/Fire vs SM/Fire and single target wise it was very close, but Footstomp just blows Fault out of the water (I know it does the same to other sets, but they have more mechanical differences to make up for it). If fault had half the animation time then I would have gladly picked it up. -
The positives on MA are probably how it looks and feels to be doing martial arts. But I think numrically it is low down in the damage scales on both single target and AoE, and the secondary effects don't mesh well from power to power so although you can do a variety of them, they have nothing to stack with unlike most other sets.
Generally if you are after concept it is ok (You can't go far wrong with any melee set) but if you want a strong character there are lots of better sets.
Secondary wise it goes well with anything, Invuln and WP would be good because they fit the natural theme, are strong and let you get on with admiring the way your toon looks
I like elec, but without lots of IO investment I don't think it compares to the other two. -
Quote:I can see Khan being more down to how lucky you are at not getting stunned and killed, Reichs doesn't have much regen to overcome, but he does hurt!Is it still solo-ING it if you multibox the clicky parts
also solo-ing the khan tf was rough on my brute. I imagine that being a good challenge for scraps. Need a looooooottt of dps.
That is one of the TF's that I would like to have a go on when I get that far though (I should make a to-do list).
