That would be my namesake MA/Regen. Ugh, I'd have to totally respec her too, which will be a pain, it's been around 4 years since she retired.
Quote:Fully agreed with Sam here (and Mirai later), and "nobody" would be my answer as well. I've never raided Hamidon at all, nor have I ship-raided, and pretty sure Sam's beating me in the number of T/SFs done too. I seem to have some sort of major aversion to any single-sitting time commitment being required for a game.Of course, if they pull a dick move and make the Incarnate system into some kind of stupid raid grind on otherwise mandatory forced teaming, the answer to that question would be "nobody." In six years here, I've raided the Hamidon ONCE, and I have no desire to ever do it again. In that time, I've been at a ship raid twice, and I'm not interested in attending again. I've fought Lusca exactly once, and the other Giant Monsters I've fought I can count on the fingers of one hand. I did probably less than half a dozen TFs in all 2009, and I honestly didn't care to do more.
If there is no option to earn Incarnate points solo before I die of old age, I won't be getting any Incarnates. -
I've never seen the civillians acting as bait before, that's a new one to me. I have seen the Tsoo playing tug of war before, but never seen them rappeling down.
Yeah, I've had a Hellion insult a character recently too. Unfortunately for him and his friends she was 40 levels above him and her M30 was well-slotted.
Quote:Huh, apparently that's what was going on. I was on a lowbie Spines/Elec Scrapper, and thew an Impale at a lone Clockwork, only to wind up with a constant stream of them running in from all over. They were a level under me so were hardly dangerous, except that they just kept coming, the scratch damage kept adding up, it's not like a level 8 character has defense or regen worth crap. Finally the tide slowed down, just as I leveled. I must have taken out 30 of them.At times you'll have clockwork moving off, all in the same direction. I believe it's when they gather around a Paladin. They'll generally ignore you, but I decided I'd attack one. It came back, and as I dropped it, a few others came back and attacked me. I was taking them down when more came back and started zapping me. Finally there were enough that I decided discretion was the better part of valor and I took off. I really like that they can do that, though. -
The worst place in the world for being pushed around used to be Ghost Falcon. Nothing quite like standing there in the enhancement screen doing some combining, then hearing the sound of combat, and exiting that screen to find out you've somehow been pushed down the block into the range of a Nemesis or 9. It only happened once, for the record, but still.
Of course these days the RWZ is an easier place to buy and sell, if you're bothering with anything other than IOs at all. -
As things currently stand, gonna have to answer with Scrappers. Controllers and Dominators tie for a very close second.
If Dominators got martial arts and (non-elemental) weapons, I'd answer Dominators with no hesitation. Best of both worlds. -

Quote:I spent 5 months laid off in 2009. If I hadn't already bought 6 months just prior to that, I wouldn't have contributed any money to the game either. I was re-hired thankfully, but business is still way down. I know where I live unemployment is still very high.Is anyone really surprised by these numbers? I personally have had to make monetary sacrifices in my household to account for the loss of business in my field.
No, not surprised at all.
Regarding that 2.9 million figure, I recall reading elsewhere that a single million a year keeps an MMO up and running with no problem at all, once it's established. Light on updates perhaps, but in no danger of the power getting shut off. With 3 times that I see no pressing need for concern, as a consumer anyway. -
I'm not a big fan of hers honestly, but I dig that literal hair bow and that leather...ette...vinyl...whatever that top is, she looks good in it.
Her music's just too slow, that's all there is to it. When the remixers get ahold of it and put it at 120+, it's perfectly acceptable dance music and I'm cool with it.
Definitely a Blaster. Energy probably. Fly as a travel power. -
Heh, that random howling is rather grating, isn't it. There have been times when I've jumped because I didn't realize a demon was nearby until it started baying in my ear. That sound seems to be mixed more prominently too.
I'm one of those wierd people that UNsummons the pets when I'm running around the zones. Keeping track of pets, making sure they don't draw aggro or get stuck somewhere, is a real bother. -
Geez, I don't recall EVER having enough room in a cave mission on a big team. Even if no one has any pets at all, the way getting blocked or just some big oaf shoving me around via superior ping* is an inevitability. The hate of caves, or those silly sewer-map bottleneck rooms, is not just MM-related.
* or graphics, or whatever the hell causes that. It's irritating as crap. -
Already empowered by a deity, that counts as a child. Way ahead of ya there.

Quote:I like the way you think. Sadly I can't go the emo route, as she's using that white-eyed insane-grin face, Supernatural Face some#. Vampire, though, that'll work well, and I *think* I can add a pirate hook to the uniform jacket.Buccaneer Hat (she becomes a pirate), Cyber arm (cyborg)...though this looses the ability to use the shirt option, so could be why it wasn't done...throw in that she's a vampire or a succubus...there's so many cliches left to be added!
Oh! You can make her emo too!
Hmm, isn't GR coming with some new stances? Perhaps there will be a monkey lope. -
Proud to say that my DS/Pain is not dressed in red and black with demon wings.
Instead, she's in full-on schoolgirl attire complete with plaid pleated skirt, all colored red and WHITE. Oh, and she's a catgirl, with animated tail. And white angel wings.
Trying to think of some more cliches I can add in. Ooh, she can be an orphan too, will add that to the bio. -
Quote:My Sniper-concept characters, all two of them, would love such a weekend. BOOM HEADSHOT/ARROWINHEAD, BADWORDER! It'd be awesome. My Ice/Devices, built for maximum stealth and bombing runs, would simply be in heaven. I adore stealth kills and picking my targets.Heck, my April Fool's prank would be a Double Damage Weekend. Double all damage, both by PCs and NPCs. Remove the Anti-Oneshotting rule and the "Always 1hp or more after falling damage" rule.
Tanks would play like Scrappers, Scrappers would play like Blappers, Blappers would almost explode upon login. Servers might be able to handle it, but the hospitals would be strained.
Make it so. -
Loading into a mission to find an unrelated team or player already there. It's sadly very rare, but I really enjoyed the one time it happened to my team. We ran in, and just as we were all asking "Where are the enemies?" we saw the other team. Lots of "O HAI DERE!", lols, and "The heck?" were sent out via Local. I decided that if it ever happened again, we'd all hold back and either one person would play hide-and-seek with the other team, or we'd start using Broadcast to make NPCish announcements.
It never went live, sadly, but I always wanted to give the bugged Acid Arrow a try. When TA first came to beta, I heard tell of a brief period in which AA stacked with itself, and would KEEP stacking. Supposedly you could fire it into a spawn and they'd start taking exponential damage. The quote I recall was "You struggled with the set until you got Acid Arrow, then you were a killing machine."
I hated the exploding Rikti myself. For some crazy reason, after a few explosions my game would simply crash. I've had sound-related bugs with this game over the years, heck I still have issues if I'm too near someone running Quills, so I'm almost positive it had something to do with that similarly looping boom. -
Quote:I would agree with that, judging by the large majority of posts I've seen on the subject, in this game and others. Obviously they tend to idealize these literal avatars, usually there's no choice but to, heh.Yeah, I think most people just make versions of themselves when playing a game that lets them make human avatars.
I usually make female characters when I have a choice. Girls look better, that's all there is to it, but I promise it's not JUST ye olde T&A. -

Quote:Hey, I looked really spiffy in that Don Johnson jacket-and-t-shirt, with my curly permed hair!Look at an old photograph of yourself (if you're old enough to have one from 20+ years ago). You'll inevitably say, "I thought that looked good? What was I thinking!"
*Strikes a match* -
Quote:That's what I've been doing. I'm halfway through the clone arcs on three characters now. Thankfully teaming slows the drop rate down considerably. In the meantime, I'll just switch alts whenever thier inventory gets full of stuff I don't want to vendor for peanuts.
I need to move them around for dayjobs anyway.
I see no need for compensation. Wouldn't turn it down of course, but it's not necessary at all. -
When I transferred a particular character over during the recent free transfers, for some reason I lost the bio. I remember what the basic idea was, but the specifics and how I worded it all are forgotten. I've started putting something in again a few times, but every time it just looked bad, and the character concept seems a lot less interesting now than it did. (Of course, whether it was interesting to anyone else but me in the first place is up for debate, but still.)
Similar things have happened before too. I was driving home from work or grocery shopping, had a flash of inspiration, and hurried home...only to hit a wall when it comes to actually putting it down so that it makes sense. I have a Fire/Storm Corruptor for example that I came up with an excellent name for, and I had an idea of what her background would be, but when I start typing it out it gets lamer and dumber by the word. The devil is in the details. Probably doesn't help that I'm wordy as heck anyway, as you can probably tell by this post, "short and sweet" is not one of my skills, and the flaws just get more and more highlighted.
So yes, I feel ya. -
I have three characters with Swahili names. Katili = bloodthirsty, cruel; Majasusi = secret agent, traitor; Agenti = agent. Swahili's barely even scratched for names, I certainly can't recall seeing any others. Arabic is similarly mostly-untapped.
-
When I hear "England" I immediately think of Absolutely Fabulous and Young Ones.
-
My Crab Spider's FC was an Elec Melee/Shield something. Lacked the Crab backpack of my character though. Clone's survivability was pretty crap actually, died before I could take down the second device. Ajax seemed much more interested in it than me.

Quote:or just sell your big inspirations from the tutorial on the market for a few hundred K.Quote:People keep telling me that, but I have personally never seen any bidders for these inspirations, myself, or indeed seen them sell for much over 5000. Maybe it's bad timing on my part, I don't know.
I am unlikely to use the attachment system myself, honestly. I'm one of those nuts that considers each character to be independent. For the most part anyway, there are some exceptions who'll get some hand-me-down IOs. -
Blonde-haired blue-eyed white American guy here, Russian in ancestry (to the best of my knowledge), but I have a great many "ethnic" characters anyway. Sometimes it's concept, other times an image popped into my head and I went with it.
- Dr. Particular, Ill/Rad. Dr. Lucas van Acker, born Rotterdam Netherlands. Black guy with glasses, bald. When I first started playing this game I was pretty into soccer/football/thebeautifulgame and a fan of Chelsea, particularly of Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink. It amused me to imagine him as a nuclear physicist slash children's show host, then I saw a movie with scenes shot in Rotterdam. A character was born.
- Retaliator, Dark/Kin Corruptor, who I've long planned to Go Rogue. A black girl, primarily because I wanted her with an obvious birthmark across her face, and also because that skin tone went really well with a periwinkle-colored Low Ponytail. True Neutral, can only harm those who intend to harm her or those she's decided to befriend.
- Mecha Wasp, Bots/Traps. She's black, and due to some racist and hot-headed (as in Fire Blaster) Longbow, was burned and framed as a Villain. The burn scars have mostly healed but the psychological ones are still pretty fresh. She'll probably Go Rogue too, as she's mostly succeeded in hunting down and destroying the specific Longbow who ruined her life. Power Armor for a main outfit, her second outfit has a distinct Zero Suit Samus look.
- Ason Svivati, currently a Brute but will Go Rogue as a Fire/Earth Dominator. She's Egyptian and very dark-skinned. She and Masrefah hate each other (long story), but she's the more good-aligned.
- Masrefah, Mind/Fire Dom. Egyptian, light-skinned. Evil through and through.
- Blood of the Sacred, Mind/Storm 'troller. Malay, ex-cop.
- Blood of the Damned, Demon/Pain. Filipina, or Pinay, not sure which is appropriate honestly, it's hard to tell just from reading...she was born in Manila, anyway. BotS's villainous counterpart.
- B'riyah, Fire/Storm 'troller. Turkish, killed in an earthquake, brought back as the hand of an unnamed god to smite evil.
- Agent Zhang, Pistols/Energy. Chinese-German, SDU cop from Hong Kong. There's no official title called Agent for HK police, but it sounded more actiony than the real ones.
- Wind Monk, Wind Melee (i.e. recolored DM)/Shield Scrapper. Another Milay, although the only clue is her name (Marina Asohan). Magical monk, part of an order that hunts down and "cleanses" corrupted mages. Yes, she faces a lot of CoT. Yes, I yell "Soul STEAL!" a lot when playing her.
- I have THREE Kenyans: Katili (Night Widow), Majasusi (Claws/Will Scrapper), and Agenti (AR/Electric). The first two are sisters who hate each other, the third is your garden-variety cyber-enhanced one-woman-army.
And I have more too, but I've gone on too long as it is.
