...Yeah, that's kinda what I just said? "I wouldn't mind more missions like that one in the RWZ, that actually calls for a bit of stealth. The one where you have to go around collecting but should avoid patrols."
-
I am another one that's very hard to bore, at least as far as visuals go. I enjoy warehouses and offices the most of all. Granted I can't stand the blue caves, but not because they're boring.
Obviously I'm not opposed to new maps/tilesets/palettes. And frankly I wish some of the current maps got used just a teensy bit more, there are some great ones and you MIGHT see them once or twice. Obviously YMMV on this subject, but what I'm thinking of specifically:
1) Arachnos lab map, except it's the one with the gigantic catwalk-filled area. Not so great for a defeat-all perhaps, but as a side room? Fantastic.
2) The huge outdoor map that's in a rusty factory area, with a central tower, Boss/objective at the top. I simply adore that map, makes me feel like I'm storming a castle. Seen it like twice ever.
I wouldn't mind more missions like that one in the RWZ, that actually calls for a bit of stealth. The one where you have to go around collecting but should avoid patrols. Of course, as always, I've seen plenty of complaints about it because you're dissuaded from fighting. Sometimes though it just makes sense to, for a different example, get to the glowing PC, upload the virus, and then get out without anyone knowing you were there. Nope, you have to clear the room too no matter what. It's a little silly. -
I regret nothing. I decided long ago to devote only one character to be my badger, and I'm not at all hardcore about it in the first place, that would require me to do TFs I don't like. Every real mistake I've made was only fleetingly bothersome, or could/will be fixed in the fullness of time.

I'm clicking along, on a thread or to add a post or to edit a post, and it'll just sit there "Waiting for boards.cityofheroes.com" for a while. There's a progress bar, but it's not filling. Sometimes it eventually goes through, other times I get the old "Server has timed out" screen or another similar error message. I can open up other sites with no delay at all while this is going on, and in fact have gotten into the habit of having another tab open so I can find something to read while the board debates. Been an issue for about a month now, during which time I've seen a Firefox update. I get the same non-response on my work PC occasionally too, which is stuck with IE, and which I hasten to add gets its cookies cleared out often.
Checked the tech section, last forum complaint I saw there (that wasn't the "Remember me?" problem) was months old. Anyone else having this issue? -
"Yes! I won again! Strange it only pays out in twenties though...." -
Quote:Not sure what he's holding though - some kind of staplers? Like attaching bits of paper together in the cause of mad science?
Aka some kind of clamps, I believe. I've seen similar for electrical work, albeit with neon orange instead. -
Occasionally I've seen Carnies in PI standing around with shotguns, saying "Got to hang tough."

This could've gone in the existing thread.
Sometimes I find April Fools jokes funny or cool. Sturgeon's Law applies to jokes as well. The best one of all to me is the famous Legend of Zelda movie trailer by IGN, which not only showed some real effort but still gets people to this day. It's on the cool side. The CoH MUD one made me lol for real though. Neither of these is really intended to fool anyone, they're pretty obvious, but when they DO fool someone I admit it's pretty funny. For the "Visual Sounds" joke, there were people who said they were close to cancelling their accounts before they realized it was a joke, and you just have to wonder about them.
As far as pranks go, I've seen people go off on a Snipe hunt, and go looking for a left-handed smoke-shifter. -
Funny. Not as funny as the CoH MUD, that one had me rolling, but funny.

I enjoyed the "Threads to Watch" threads. A lot. Sadly people weren't content to merely observe the unspooling drama and threads like that got nixed soon after creation.
So now I don't care if there's a Pwnz section or not. It'd just be another section of the forums I don't bother clicking on. -
Quote:Check out YouTube for videos of Chanters in Aion. NCSoft knows how to make Staff-fighting look very cool. But staves... I'm more excited about staves than I am about any of the 4 powersets in GR
The only MMO I've played where they had proper stave fighting was Dark Age of Camelot, on my Friar, and I really enjoyed it - then my friends convinced me to delete all my Albion characters so that we could all play in Hib together /sigh (sadly we only had 2 EU servers then, we all had higher level Mid characters we wanted to keep, and none of my friends liked Alb) - and I didn't even like Hib much
-
See, I got the impression that 20 was the level you could start doing either shady or less-villainous missions, and it'd escalate until eventually you'd go full-hero or -villain. I assumed it'd only take a few missions or levels at most.
-
I have...hmm, five characters who'll be switching sides, and at least one Scrapper who'll be rolled up with the idea of going totally villainous. Possibly more will either switch or start with the intention of switching, but the six above are already planned such.
None of them are 50s. The highest is my Bane Spider, 25-ish, and I'm not 100% sure that VEATs will be allowed to switch anyway. -
Quote:And after that, finding out that Tyrant is a good guy and Golden Girl's been unknowingly working for the side of Villainy the whole time, in the world's biggest plot twist? That's PRICELESS.Thrashing Tyrant and his jackbooted thugs accross four new shiny zones is well worth 30 bucks
Edited: None of my 50s will be going Rogue. I do have plans for an "alternate universe" version of my main MA/Regen, one who let her rage and insanity take control, rather than get focused into something more productive, so she'll be an evil Scrapper starting at level 1 (or 20, whatever). Everyone else is either starting from the ground or is nowhere near 50. I have a level-25ish Bane Spider who'll go heroic if possible, she's the highest level. -
Quote:Ah yes, when proven wrong or misinformed, instead of saying "Oh, I see", you've taken the time-honored road of self-righteousness and standing up against The Man.And replies like yours are why I, the OP (and others) prefer to have NICER things (aka more complete gaming experiences and more reliable information). Sorry if you prefer to settle for less. But hey, at least you won Dev brownie points. That should get you into closed beta real fast.
Gratz.
Just like the last time you ranted about something or other and threatened to quit. -
The worst names I've ever seen here are not repeatable. Some were racist, others garden-variety obscenity, all obviously designed to pass the filter. I've petitioned a few.
The worst I've seen that I can repeat is "Mutant Blaster". No, he wasn't a Natural Controller, that at least would have some weak irony.

I'm with the Goat on this one, the more the merrier. Sure, the Khelds are supposed to be the "advanced" ATs for someone with the basics, and I say if someone wants to swim by jumping into the deep end of the power pool they can have at it. I don't believe people are so very fragile that they'll get disillusioned if they find the Khelds not to their liking, and anyone that does would find something else that'd break their resolve anyway. I certainly don't feel like I'm part of a leet club with my 50s, anyone that wants one has merely to cruise AE for the latest get-there-quick scheme and they'll be 50 in a meow*.
Personally I don't much care for the Khelds, when I play mine I find they really shine the brightest in teams and are kinda meh otherwise. For me it's the equivalent of getting to 50 so I could unlock a Defender.
* I'm really up on my trends, as you can see. -
Quote:Every time, and I do mean every time a new powerset or costume piece or buff or nerf or...basically, when something changes in the game, someone will inevitably take it as a sign. If it has a noun form, someone has posted bemoaning it as the x in "City of x". Even when it wasn't an overreaction, when there really were a few examples of x, the novelty faded within a month at most, and people went back to the same thing they always did.You know what? So what? Maybe there will be a spike in Saiyan and/or Namek characters for a while, but after what I predict to be a very short while, the "ooh shiny!" will wear off. The majority of those characters will stop being played, some will be deleted, and while surely some will remain, the usual distribution of creativity will return. The same will happen with "City of Pistols and Demon Summoners," I predict.

Quote:Truth. Neither of my two 50s fit as aspects of a particular being. For that matter I can only think of one of my characters period who'd fit, and even she is more of a chosen champion of a god rather than an incarnate or physical manifestation.I'm hoping they keep the incarnate lore unintrusive enough that a player can explain the incarnate powers as their character's own superpowers.
Of course, it wouldn't be the first time I've taken the cafeteria approach to canon, or just outright contradicted it, but still. -
I was quite excited at the mention of staffs/staves, having desired a Staff Melee set for years now. However, I'm trying not to get too hyped up about it, because it's entirely possible they'll be for shooting, i.e. the Magical Staff Blaster set that some others have ALSO been requesting for years now. I'm not one to trash a set just because it's not what I specifically wanted, but I'd be hard-pressed to hid my disappointment too. Until they say specifically "Staff Melee" I'm taking the pessimistic route. (Ideally of course everyone will win and there will be both.)

Agreed, I kinda felt like I was seeing the film version of a comic or book I had never read or heard about, but just got dropped into. However I'm an absolute fiend for anything Telekinetic, and it delivered on that. There's just something about waving your hand and tossing someone across the room. Which is why the idea of Kinetic Melee in this game gives me a nice happy feeling.
-
Thanks for posting that, DR. Kinetic Melee has me quite intrigued, sounds even better than Psi Melee. And I freakin' LOVE Knockback and Knockdown, no arguments from me for more of it!
