Quote:Why would it take someone more than 30 days to claim an email? Especially if they sent it to themselves. It's not a storage bin.
Edit: Although I will agree with others that they should have done a better job of notifying everyone of the 30 day deadline.
Just a note, some people do have things that come up in real life that affect their game play. I recently had my mother go into the hospital for over 2 months, I did not play the game much if any. So because of unseen forces it is possible to not claim an email for more than 30 days. Would I hold NCSoft responsible for the losses? No probably not, but there is nothing like having things come up that make you feel victimized in real life only to come back to your "escape" to have lost more things.
So far I have lost nothing btw, but I just don't like blanket statements that say "it's the user's fault for not being informed." (quotes are mine not trying to say you said that.) I usually go out of my way to be informed on the usage of things especially when there is potential for loss. I don't feel this was the case. And I'm usually one of the ones backing the Devs, so this isn't a dev bash from me, I just think it was poorly documented and then handled poorly after the fact.
Also there is the obvious question... Why wouldn't I hold something in email attachment for more than thirty days? Some players did look at this as a storage bin. It should, in theory, be safer to use than an open SG base to transfer expensive/important/highly sought items. I'd rather have it in my personal email than in an SG base where my son (or any SG mate whom I trust immensely) might grab it while I was at work.
NOW that I know better, I will make sure to clear out my attachments, but to insinuate that I should have known to do so prior to now is just not fair.
Only quoted you because you were the first post I saw to bring it up. Other's stated similar sentiment, so don't take this as a jab at you because that was not my intent. (Stinks that I have to quantify this but it IS the internet...)
-
Well I'm glad I saw this post somewhere! I respecced a toon and emailed his IOs to myself with intent to reroll a new toon and be able to use them. Of course I made other toons instead and never used the ios in the emails. I hope I get to them in time. Plus I did as someone else mentioned here, I sent out an email with a few mil inf and labelled it as "Blue Monies" and "Red Monies" so my many alts had a little cushion of cash. Since I don't play red side often I may have lost that as well.
More than anything it's aggrevating to not have been notified previously of the time limit. -
Quote:LOL I read your "Dark Armor Sucks" thread last week and was laughing at the fact people told you dark armor sucks. I often tank on my spines/dark. It isn't easy but it is definitely doable.Well, Dark Armor Sucks, of course.
But seriously, all tanks are pretty squishy at low levels. They're like scrappers, but without damage, critical hits, and have a few more health points to compensate.
With IO sets, Dark Armor really has some of the best potential in the game.
I guess that is the problem I was having. The few additional health points didn't offset the less damage and no crits. At least not yet. Don't think I deleted him yet. I know there is potential there. I just have to find it and pour caffeine into it!
But I picked out DA as a recent example but that isn't the only toon that seemed to have end issues lately. I say lately but really I mean the last couple of years. If I am struggling for end by 15 and I have slotted what I think is appropriate I usually delete the toon and go for a different combo. At this point I honestly don't know if it's just me not knowing how to slot the combos I'm trying or what.
Quote:I'm sorry, I wasn't trying to say you shouldn't use it. I'm saying that the devs had to limit its effectiveness somehow, or it would be a clear advantage in all levels of play, and even serve as an extra spot to put set IOs... a whole gamut of complaints arise.
Maybe they could make it cost less endurance to begin with, but right now, it's balanced. Make sure you get two or more enemies in the Sands of Mu cone. That really gets more bang for your buck. -
I see your points. I guess I just don't feel the pre-20 accuracy boost they put in a while back. I was playing my new elec melee/dark tank and at level 8 he was being pummelled by three minions. I had two secondary attacks(1 end 1 acc TO), 1 aoe aura(1 end enh) and 2 shields(each with 2 end red). I had just gotten the heal as well which with one TO recharge doesn't recharge fast enough to be helpful yet. Pretty sure that's how they were slotted anyway... He couldn't stand up to two minions and a lt. It was very discouraging to keep missing and faceplant because my shields would drop. Added in a blaster teamate to help kill them off faster and I would faceplant even faster because now there were more mobs pummelling me.
Now I have a spines/dark scrap that I love!! I know the dark set is end heavy and am used to dealing with it but it really felt like the tanks had a -acc or something. I have had quite a few toons lately that really felt end heavy compared to ones I've been playing for years. I'm not the only one either, a lot of my friends have said similar. Not to say it isn't always slotting but it's not like I've never slotted toons before.
As far as the vet power issue. You are correct the power becomes less useful closer to 50. But that is the problem, the power is more costly end wise during the early game when it is more likely to be used. And now as a 57 month vet I have three at my disposal. So I shouldn't use them because they were free? That seems a bit backwards to me.
I was only making a suggestion and even mentioned it may not be possible, it may not be practical either (I agree I swing just as hard at a baseball I miss as I do ones I hit), but what other things am I to do to reduce end usage? I don't run on any crazy settings either. I usually stay 0/0 until stamina at least.
Heck maybe I'm behind on slotting now that I think things through. But for the most part I slot 1 end red, 1-2 acc and 3 damage for most attacks (until IO sets). Have I been doing it all wrong this whole time? -
Kheldian would be a great chance to re-imagine Alpha!
I wasn't saying I didn't like the wings, because I do! I had just noticed the changes and while I know each artist is going to interpret wings differently I was just curious if this is more what your final imagining of his wings is... I'm with you, I wish the in-game wings could shrink a bit more while just walking around. I have one toon with wings because of it and she is a hover blaster so it makes sense for her. -
Has there been any serious discussion of having a miss cost less endurance? Is it even possible? I tried doing a search but didn't find anything related.
I just know there is nothing like having a streak of 4 misses and look up and my endurance is almost drained and the boss is still over half health.
Also can vet rewards be less end hogs? Sands of Mu is part of my attack chain on my dark.dark scrapper and it is a much larger end hog since I can't add end red to it.
Just a couple of thoughts! -
Okay that piece of Alpha's Omega is great. BUT I have a question: On Caem's wings, are those correct? I've seen them shown this way a couple times now. Does he fly? It just doesn't look like they have enough "skin" to fly..
Great arts as usual Caem! Grats and I know Eddy's colors will just bring that much more to the lines!
Oh also, come on, we all know that's a clone from the latest story arc! LOL I'll bet his armor isn't even the exact same color.... lol -
Great idea for a contest Caem. Unfortunately I have alt-itis so bad I never feel a final connection to my toons. I always feel like modifying them when I see something that works. Plus I'm too broke to buy up art anyway.
So good luck to everyone that enters and this will be fun to watch! -
I have a couple DP toons now, a dark/dp def, a dp/mental blaster but my newest and favorite so far is my dp/enrg blaster:
Patriot-Act
And his newest alt costume:
I based him on a combination of the Ultimates Captain America and Ultimates Hawkeye. -
Quote:One of my favorite movies of all time. BUT probably more for how it was filmed/edited than the story itself. Also the DVD we have has an extra with the story told in chronological order and it honestly is horrible to me. So I don't recommend watching the extras first. lolMemento - Entire movie happens in segments, chronologically backwards. Meant to help you identify with the main character, who has no short term memory. People you liked at the beginning of the movie are revealed for their motives at the end, which of course would have been a very boring movie if played forward. This movie is one of my all-time favorites.
Oh I recently watched The Boy in the Striped Pajamas - a WWII movie based around a Nazi Officer's family in charge of a concentration camp. The only thing is his family has no idea what exactly he does other than be a great patriot... They find out the hard way... I thought this was very well made and had a great story... bring tissue.
I also liked Snatch. Which if you like Layer Cake you will probably enjoy this. -
LOL! Jr. is 12.
Oh yeah he said he pictured TA in a big battle and thats why he's all damaged and what not...
Car Battery!! That's funny! -

Quote:Now that you mention it I think something did come in the box with the tablet but I didn't pay it any mind since we had Photoshop. I'll check that out when I get home. Nothing beats free!
Elements works fine with a tablet. In fact, that is what my tablet came with. It is the best choice for a beginning digital artist in my opinion.
Thanks everyone for your great suggestions. I'm sure we will be trying out a few of these to see which he likes best. -
Quote:He is in a state run charter program that is an online home school so I'd have to look and see if that is considered okay. That's a great suggestion though! Is your son in school? You can get a student discount on Photoshop if so. The Design Standard (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign) is $300 if you're a student or an educator.
So does Elements have what a beginning digital artist would need? It was hard to tell by Adobe's descriptions. It seemed more for the home photographer than anything. BUT I could download a trial version. -
Or use the cool feature in photoshop cs5 (I know I know not many people have it yet) Clone Tool "Content Aware". Some very cool videos on You Tube of CS5 and Content Aware.
-
As many of you know I bought PS Jr. a Bamboo tablet back in November for his birthday. Well NOW my hard drive took a nose dive and I can't find my original copies of Photoshop that we'd been using. It was an old 6.0 version anyway. So I know I can't afford $500-$1000 for CS5 so what would your recommendations be for a good replacement that he could use to practice his digital drawings?
Right now he still prefers pen n paper drawing and then scanning it and letting me play with colors but he has been trying to color some of his own things as well.
Speaking of - He has a WIP of Thor's Assassin (I KNOW RIGHT?!?! LOL) that he's been asking me to scan, but since I bought a new comp this weekend I haven't had a chance.
Anyway thanks for your suggestions and help. You guys and girls are always very helpful! -
1) Pyro
2) Lousy_Day (now that my Jeep is old and worn out I totally feel envious of the new Jeeps)
3) U-Naught
Wish I could have voted everyone because I like them all. Good luck everyone and thanks for taking the time to keep competing it definitely is entertaining to me! -

I swear Judge, I've never been NEAR Ghost Widow.... She totally must have taken advantage of me after she knocked me out!! -
Quote:I believe your entry last month got quite a few #1 votes if I'm not mistaken. That alone means you are not allowed to drop out! That's right NOT ALLOWED!!!I'm torn.
I've enjoyed being a part of this (mostly) and making my attempts at art. But, aside from last month, I've also been quite disappointed at getting practically no votes alongside the real artists. I'm tired of seeing contestants drop out of the contest every month and don't really want to be one of them. But it's also coming close to the last minute, and I still don't really have any good idea of something I can accomplish. Sheesh.
It's funny, I would have thought this to be one of the easier months yet. There is quite a bit of flex room as far as the theme goes. If it gets that bad just put something in hot spandex eating a bunch of something else and call it gluttony.
Come on guys/girls - YOU CAN DO EEETTT!!! -
Quote:I gues I didn't think he'd have real retractable blades since proportionally in game they are like 18" blades. Anyone remember the great Movie-Deadpoo (yes no L) controversy? Where would those 3 foot long blades go?The leather jacket is easy, as any number of places can make that for you, including the color. The pants might be a little trickier to come by if you aren't using spandex, although the football apparel route might work. It'll cost moolah, though.
This site apparently does colors.
For the blades, there must be a fairly simple way to use a button to activate a push-pull solenoid set-up to extend and retract them. Put the button on the outside knuckle of your index finger so you're not accidentally springing them out all the time -- combine that with a flex movement to distract people from seeing the semi-awkward thumb-activation and you're good to go.
The red dot is just to show where the button would go. You'd want it to blend in so as to be as unobtrusive as possible.
I figured the belt could be an Army Surplus item and just die the pouches to match.
And yes you must provide pics when done! -
Well for the pants I'd look at some football(Amercian not that other stuff hehe) pants I know you can special order them online with your colors and I KNOW I've seen them available with the stripe down them like that.
The gloves should be fairly easy. Those are the in-game rubber gloves. I'd figure out a way to rig the claws and then slide the gloves over them with a hole cut into the top part of the hand.
In-game those are the boxer boots, so maybe look for some boxing boots? I'd guess wrestling boots would probably be more accurate though.
All in all I think this is definitely one of the more doable costumes! Good luck! I agree the jacket is probably the hardest thing. -
That was great Pyro! Very funny! A little long for work watching - I kept wanting to pause it so I could answer the phone without laughing...

Quote:I like these additions/modifications to your $750 rig. This puts it right at the $1000 range. I think I will buy this and change out to a CoolerMaster 690 case though. Great information as always Father Xmas!Start with my $750 build.
Swap out the Power Supply for a 650 Watt Corsair 650TX, +$27.
Swap out the Athlon II X2 245 for a 3.0GHz Phenom II X4 945, +$79.
Swap out the HD 5770 for a Gigabyte or Sapphire HD 5850 in the $320 range, +$150.
That's about $260 worth of upgrades. For $20 more you could go to the 3.2GHz Phenom II X4 955 or $40 more to the 3.4GHz Phenom II X4 965.
As for the memory most CPU/Motherboards perform better if RAM is installed in pairs (i7-9xx CPUs are the exception, they like RAM in threes). Performance will degrade if they aren't in pairs.
