I've done ITF with a high 40s where it took five years and we had 9,000 deaths, and then the leader abandoned us after Rommy ate us for lunch, dinner, and breakfast the next morning. I was on a very poorly slotted MA/Inv, who now kicks A, but then sucked A.
Recently, I ran with a lv 35 tank, and worked really well as the 2nd tank. We got our Master of. [But it was Hoarde people, not a pug.]
I have only quit two TFs in the last year. One was the worst, most mutinous pug you've ever seen. Not mutiny, anarchy. Epic opinions/attitudes. The other was Numina and we got Zombies in one zone and Rikti invasion in another, we were all tired and just shut it down.
There is a demographic in CoH that doesn't really play the game. They like to chat on broadcast in Atlas and get PLed. The only time they'll leave is to unlock their capes. In which case they do blind invites until they get a full team of people to do their work for them. -
OK, looking at this and that as far as advice goes and, yes, taking the fighting pool made slotting my other powers much easier. I put off Permafrost for a long time, but the extra 20% resist to slow isn't such a big deal sine we've got the 60% from Glacial Armor.
I'm pushing CJ much further back than I'd like, but I'm also not needing it for defense.
Here's the PostaguHyperInfiniTigress hybrid. I know it probably doesn't fit any of your playstyles, but it patches up the faults I had. Most notably Hoarfrost and the Fighting pool.
Oh, and I took Leadership because Vengeance is a massive, super, ultimate power for the team. And while Maneuvers is puny, I only needed puny and it shares it with everyone.

[Edit: I combined two posts of mine here, so it may not flow well and skip from topic to topic. The double posting was just plain bad.]
Yeah, your hoarfrost slotting is really good. A definite change. I slot this way on my MA/Inv scrapper.
I don't understand the no-recharge thing on Hibernate. It's my main go-to for heal and recovery when things get bad [meaning I'm getting hammered and Hoarfrost is recharging.] I think of it as a phased Rest.
Defense slotting: I'm doing the Red Fortune + LotG7.5 slotting based on what I've read. I've never done that before. It's a 12.5% global rech, but I do love the LotG bonuses. The RF is a cheap test, but takes a respec to get out due to the six slots.
Tough just looks like a mule here. 23% on S/L might help with some super accurate AV or something. I haven't seen that situation yet. I think I might be being a little overzealous about the avoidance of the fighting pool. I'm just seeing the set bonuses come so easy.
Nucleous...I'll have to check the cash on those. I actually prefer my current slotting of Siphon Life, with the four Haymakers [switchable to KC if I needed to] and the two Theft of Essence. Siphon is my main damage after my damage aura. I'm always wary of Hamis, except Centriole, which I actually own a bucketful I'll probably never use.
Why do I care about defense in EA if I'm capped to SLEN? To partially plug that fire hole?
Yeah...I gotta mess with my Soul Drain. Damage is good. And I do fire this alot.
And let me say I'm really pleased that my slotting all lv 27 IOs isn't getting criticized. I've been running a lot of Ouro and initially showing up and seeing my capped tank running at 26 SL is a big shock. -
I'm double posting, but I want what I'm saying here to stand out more than just tacking on as an edit on my rambling post up there.
Two level 28 IOs that enhance two things are as effective as two level 50 SOs.
What I'm saying is two level 28 Acc/Dam enh are just as effective as a level 50 acc and a level 50 damage IO. And picking up peices of unwanted sets in the 30s and 40s are super cheap. 50 for sale and 0 bidders cheap.

If you're fire farming for tix only, I don't see the need for kb protection.
I'm a marketer. I think it's easier and more fun than farming, but I do have a fire/SS tank I'm ignoring right now around level 33 or so. His job is to do tix and buy lv 30 bronze rolls with them. The marketing forum has done many studies and that's the cash cow [though I've always always always had bad luck with anything random, so I dislike the rolls.]
I suggest visiting the marketing faqs. 30m is nothing in this game [I say that, but my first 50 was made with no PL on DOs mostly. I didn't know anything about slotting or Mids.]
A farmer should be a farmer IMO. A tool for cash.
As for leveling, I actually froze my main at 25 for a few months at one point because I really dig Talos. Before the Incarnates, I didn't really see the point of having a 50. A midlevel toon with a couple hundred million in them is what really impresses me. And if you're a TF/Team person, you need to be able to exemp, and that's a whole other discussion. -
The only toon I've incarnated up is my main blaster. I took the heal and never use it. My heal and endurance recovery power is Rise of the Phoenix, which I use about every 30 minutes or so, but it recharges in, I think 70ish seconds.
And while I know it's theoretical, if anyone had to use Healing Flames every 10 seconds, they're doing something totally wrong.
I think the Destiny you choose is best depending on your team and depending on what your team took. I don't think they stack, and throwing duplicate Destiny is about as irritating as doubling or tripling up Judgements by accident.
And, defenders are in this game and most don't think they're blasters. In fact, they spam that crap all over the place. -
I've read that the carnies ran out of endurance in a rikti pylon test.
Now, I know the cims totally rule that test, but we're tanks, we don't have single targets for them ever. On my blaster, I have the Warworks and I'm still thinking they're the best out there.
That said...
I'm tempted to take the polar lights [or whatever they're called] that act like Bright Novas. I like the look, though I'm concerned about the kb. I've teamed with khelds and energy blasters who were able to control their kb, and about the same amount who didn't know how to. AI in this game has always been weak for pets. I can see two AI novas being a detriment to the team.
Doing Cim on my katana who always wears the Valentines toga, so I'll know how they do in that situation, as she's also often surrounded by a donut of enemies. -
The attacks are slotted roughly how I have them now and I do just fine. I wanted a little more oomph on Siphon and Icicles as Herostats indicates that they're my heavy hitters. Icicles especially, making up 3/7ths of my damage, though that was on a massively overpopulated and level glitched CoT thing.
I'm running EN at 32 right now and doing fine. My fire hole isn't noticeable. I'm guessing that most fire has smashing with it, though that makes no sense.
SS+Stealth and RF are ones that I never take. My tank-stealth is just running through everything. I even keep my aggro toggles on, it doesn't really matter.
Re: Permahasten. I've got it on my main blaster. Within 1 or 2 seconds without Spiritual slotted and a six second overlap with. I can't tell the difference because in combat I don't stop attacking when it autos up. The permahasten was just gravy in any case.
I don't understand why you're saying EA is underslotted. It's up every 21 seconds and with only four guys around me I get 91% of my end back. I'll fire it when there's only 1/3 of my end is left, which rarely happens.
Three guys'll get me 92% off Dark Cons. Granted it's only every 71 seconds, but I never use it. It's not bound to a key, I actually have to click it. I have used it once, I think. I should drop it, but I'm keeping it for the same reason I'm keeping Maneuvers, paranoia. I don't need Maneuvers, but I'm putting the LotG 7.5 there anyway.
Hoarfrost is not underslotted. I'm not even going to debate that.
I don't see how Soul Drain is underslotted. I can't up the damage buff, and that's all I care about there. I tend to use it as an aggro tool. The teams I run with melt everything around me pretty fast. If I pug, well, that's another story. That's when the three self heals and three end recovery tools come into play.
Not sure why you say my stuff is "horribly" underslotted and I'd really like suggestions and maybe your modifications to my build. Drop whatever you want, but I'm not taking boxing, tough makes no sense on this build, and I don't want to waste the end for tough and weave either. I'm capped w/o them, w/o Maneuvers even.
Rather than limited, I see this as a jack-of-all trades. And the current as-built up there, it pretty much can't die. I'm thinking ice/dark is along the lines of kat/wp in the scrappers, if you die, you made a big mistake.
Thanks much for the comments. I know I don't agree or can't see your point, but I need that. I really like this toon. It's the first tank I've taken past 30. -
I think I made a really excellent build. Though it's hard for me to believe I made exactly what I wanted, so here, take a look at this.
I wanted:
- capped on SLEN from level 25+ running only the main toggles and CJ. [though I keep Maneuvers in my pocket in case I need it.]
- SS+Stealth IO and Rec Friend
- Vengeance
- Permahasten, which I came 16 seconds short of, or 6 if I do total core spiritual T3.
- the fighting pool
- sets that do nothing but the bonus [Zephyr, etc]
- nerfed attacks
Comments and criticisms more than welcome.

My TT tank on Justice is like a 7. Havana Cattle Co [that's his name] is going to be an all/only TT toon. Hyper knows I've done a fire/rad controller this way with the frad meets on mondays. Dunno, I just think it's cool doing things this way.
We have visitors coming at seven, so I might be late. I'll give a shout on the tank channel to see if anyone's running radio/tips/something I can join.
All tank BAF sounds hilarious. -
85% resistance to endurance debuff [sappers, carnies, electric anything]
Take grounded. -
I had a good time.
The warwolves are too tall so I couldn't tell what was going on. Somehow all of them died around me and there was my team on the other side.I tried to be a faster tank without being "the fast tank." And I hope no one minded me doing /e popdance at times, surrounded by 10+ Council.
I'm really digging the ice tank and reccomend it to anyone who wants something indestructable, though it's total lack of AoE does kinda bug me.
I crashed once after a falling-forever glitch. We had a PB on the team with dwarf, so it worked out.
Pinged 41. Not sure what epic to take. All the tank epics kinda suck. -
I know BAF like the back of my hand. It's the only one I run. I've done a Keys and it was a successful charlie foxtrot. I had no idea what I was supposed to do, though I did a good job of killing warworks in garages. ???
I've run one Lambda and it seemed to take forever to kill Praetor White since we were going for Master Of. We still collected the things, but I don't think we used them, part of the Master thing. [kinda sad I know so little about it, but I didn't like it and just trade threads for xp] -
I'll show with Victory Underhill, lv 28ish bane.
-
I'm in.
Saltier, fire/ice blaster, villain. -

Freedom is the best for what it is.
- You can pick up a group of veteran players pretty easily.
- Lots of specialized channels of TF people, GM hunters, etc.
- People are everywhere and are there to play.
Oh...
- If you are going to farm for tickets, etc, Freedom is the place to find people who specialize in that and learn from them. While ticket farming might not be much fun [and I still haven't manged to see the appeal] some people just don't want to market.
I'd also recommend Virtue, but the role players kinda skeeve me out. I had this one toon, Parker Volt, who for some reason attracted the creepers. Yeech.
But, hey, welcome back. If you're on Champion, definitely take advantage of Tanker Tuesdays. Justice also has them and I have exactly only one tank on each server. -
Changed out a haymaker for a KC set in the middle 20s. Put my Curtail Speed in the teens. My four Mocking Beratement are under 28. Level 27 Multi-Strikes replace Erad/Cleaving Blow.
Edited: bumped down my haymakers, 45.4 with only main shield and CJ at 27 and above. With no weave or maneuvers. -
I'm gonna duck out. Gonna watch that Liam Neeson "I-forgot-myself-in-Europe" movie with the wife.
[watched Adjustment Beaureoa yesterday. Good but not amazing.] -
I need to be in the mentioned but not scheduled "How to run a Perfect Keys" class at the real reactors in Praetoria.
-
Toro will be in the hizzouse.
Uh...if power caps at 33...so, my level 35 set bonuses aren't gonna work? oof.
Heck, at least it's only Council, possibly the wimpiest enemies in the game. -

Of course a blaster can farm. But you might find that once you build your farming toon, you'll see that you still pale in comparison to some of the boring, overdone farmers. Mainly because those everyboy's-got-one types are the most efficient.
You're going to take aggro. So you'll need defense. Ranged. You'll limit yourself to open areas so you don't get your camera screwed with by the ceiling. And you will need to have a dead body handy, because you will want Vengeance.
I've seen a DP/MM farm. Even with Vengeance she was struggling.
I personally'd think that rad/mm would work better for the -res. If I had to pick a ranged farmer, I'd probably start working the Mids on a crab. -
You don't ask for much, do you?
