Well, I'm finding it fairly easy to pick up CI in the 41-45 range. Not a plentiful supply, but dirt cheap. I'd expect more from a set with such good bonuses.

I'm putting it in both GC [with the Heel proc] and DA with a generi-def filling the sixth for now.

In performance, the CI is marginally better than my frankenslotting, but in bonuses it's miles ahead.

Every time I've tried Archery, except my Trick Arrow defender, I've deleted it because of redraw. I think Archery has synergy with any secondary you'll never use.

I like the perma-boost range. That sounds cool.

I have to give a thumbs down to Archery unless you want style, because Archery has that in bucketfuls.

My opinions:

Claws, if you want a dual wielding thing. I'm hot for katana right now.

Comparing WP to SR is like comparing apples to giraffes. WP is about robustness, massive regen and recovery, and protection by resistance and ENFC def. SR is about being untouchable, positional def.

Download the Nvidia drivers. I'm assuming that's what you have as that seems to be the only ones which have problems.

As for loads and hangs, check to make sure Windows Defender and something else aren't butting heads. I had to make my windows account passworded so I could turn off most of the security junk.

Those might be it, might not.

I'd like to get in on this with my katana/wp, Trixi Chalk, lev 42.

RPD should be slotted. I don't see the need to slot past 3 on Aegis.

Best I could do in 10 min. Didn't even check the bonuses but did slot the health. Resistance slotted with Aegis for Fire/Cold. Def slotted with LotG for Acc and...I forget.

ETA [a few hours later]: I dunno. The builds are just different. You cap the ENFC and I only get close, but My regen is double yours and a few other things. I wish there was a way to merge the two so they were on flipsides of the alternate slotting in Mids. Hmm. I need to look at yours more. Good cap.

I'm not amazed by the /ice. Just waiting on Shiver at this point.

I was buying 30 at a time for 666 [the only price you should ever bid] and selling them around 100k but it got lame. Slow money.

The market isn't crazy. The people are.

Don't take Sting of the Wasp. Don't skip Flashing Steel. While the damage may not seem great, it's a cone. When surrounded, use it and Lotus.

If you want Calling the Wolf, roll a Tanker. Taunt is much better. No one, ever, takes the taunt power in a scrapper. Their job is not to pull enemies off the squishies. Their job is to kill kill kill.

I suggest lose Grounded and pick up CJ.

Not sure why you'd wanna skip Lightning Reflexes. Look at Wentworth's at what a LotG +7.5, which only gives 7.5% global rech, is selling for. LR is 20% and and auto power.

Seeing Whirlwind makes me want to not even comment on this. Lose it. There are plenty of things you can cram into the 49 slot that wont make you look like you don't know what you're doing. What were you going to do with Whirlwind anyway?

You don't need Hasten, you're katana.

OK, I threw this together so some slotting is awkward. I did as I felt you should, build toward ENFC def and get all the resistance you can. Actually, the Melee and Lethal will get rid of most everything.

I did put some LotG +7.5s in there. You can remove them. Other than that, this is a cheap build. And by "that" I mean DA's slotting.

Your mac should have something the equivalent of Wine for linux. Look into that. Few people here can look at the printout above and figure out what kind of set bonuses you're totalling up.

If you posted the datachunk I'd play with it. I can't access the link at work due to it being blocked.

There's a thread started by me about how to slot DA. My slotting starts it and others offer very good advice. You need DA to live. It is what katana is about. There is no other reason to choose katana than DA. Get the acc and def up, and you will be a god.

You didn't take Tough and Weave. [/e faceplam] Where did your mother and I go wrong? I also tend to take manuvers if there's space. I don't go as far as slotting CJ for def, usually put the kismet +6 in there.

I hadn't thought about some of the coolness of making a kata/elec. I might have to do this next time I go into an alt frenzy.

Oh, and you can skip hasten, you're katana. And get get stamina asap just in case you team with someone at 24.

Reeeaad about katana. Read read read. Even when you read about it you won't understand how awesome it can be.

Oh, and if you do make that build, I highly suggest running to Warburg and getting the Hyperphase, maybe keeping a running bid on Etherial Shift at Wentworths. You'll need it.

I find the best way to find threads on particular builds is to take a unique word from the primary powerset and one from the secondary and search on that in the appropriate forum.

So, I'd pick "plasma induction" and search the scrapper forum.

Off the top of my head, skip lightning clap. I skip Jacobs because I can't aim that close. Temp protection might be a little redundant. Build for rech and ENFC defense.

Make sure to get your Stamina and Weave. Slot res with 3 aegis for F/C and E/N is all over the melee sets.

I would post my Fire/Elec tank, but she's a work in progress and will probaby get a second build if I feel I've made mistakes.

I'll have to try the Crushing Impacts. I might hold off on the LotG +Rech until after I find out if I like the setup or not. Those things are not getting any cheaper.

I can't do the Hami as the toon is only a 42 at the moment. Besides, I feel I'm not reaching my potential if I don't slot for bonuses.

The main reason I wouldn't go with the KC is I'm not building for S/L def, but S/L resist. I'm a /wp after all. And that reminds me, with the CIs I'm losing 1.2 on my E/N def. I'm not sure this matters so much as I'm spamming DA as if it's a joke.

And that brings me to the DPS issue. I'm not a number cruncher, but DA sucks as a damage dealer. My "attack chain," if you can call it one, is Something/DA/Something/DA/Something quick/Something quick/DA/etc. Those somethings are Dragon and Dragonfly, unless I'm surrounded [often] and it turns into Lotus and Steel. I never use GC, but have it slotted for -def and acc, as a prybar to get into a hard to reach def.

Not sure how easy it would be to get the CI at 45, but sometimes it's shockingly easy to get stuff not at 50.

I like my katana/wp and want the best for it. I refuse to believe that I figured it out already. Here's what I've got:

LotG DE, DR [giving 10% Regen]
Hay AD
Slug AD, DE, DR [giving 8% Regen, 1.25% EN Def, 0.63% Ranged]

All total [since they are level 36, 29, 33, 30, 30, and 29, respectively] we get:
Acc 44%
Dam 86%
Def 27%
End 43%
Rech 45%

I'd like the def up, but when I try, it all goes to crap as I have too may slots taken up with the non-accuracy def set.

Bonuses are of secondary concern, but I am getting 18% regen and some good EN def here. [Going for ENFC def and S/L res, if that helps.]

I cast this on the waters and hope the Divine Avalanche slotting gods hear me.

My first MA, took to 50, and didn't take CAK due to the horrid animation. Respecced into it and wasn't impressed. Not sure if people love it for DPS or DPA but it wasn't my bag and I did fine without it.

Re: No AoE def
Tell me who, which enemy, I should fear not having AoE def? Now, that said, in my rush I decided to leave it out and then took lots of crap out of the pools. I'd definitely take it, but capping AoE wouldn't be my first priority. I'm not going to edit my previous post though, as it's been commented on.

Yes, Pleeeeeese, write a MA/SR guide. No one writes much MA and SR gets no attention.

Re: Stealth IO
You get the Stealth IO and run the Stealth power at the same time. You can also get the Stealth power and run SS with it, but I run into walls. Whatever you put it in, when activated, will make you and your costume clear for 2 min after you turn it off. So, bear that in mind if you think you'll hate having your costume messed up. SS+Stealth will let you be fashionable as soon as the Stealth is turned off.

I wouldn't take Lucky, Evasion, Elude, Cripling Axe Kick, and only take one of Hurdle or Swift. In fact, I always take hurdle as it help with vertical as well as horizontal movement.

For your stealth/ghosting needs, I would pick up an Unbounded +stealth 15. Bid on it ASAP after making the toon. It should be only around 15m if I remember correctly, but there are none on the market. In a pinch, to get your full invis, you could chuck the +Stealth that looks like a clock in rec Friend, but it would only last 2 min.

All the good stuff already happens in Crushing Impact by five of them. And if you're going to load up Stamina w Performance Shifters, why stop at 5? Six is the goal.

Below is my rushed and probably error filled build but it gets some of the things I believe in for this concept in. I overwent the cap on Ranged, not sure how, I wasn't always checking the totals. I removed some pricey stuff but added in LotG all over the place. And some of the pool stuff, I just added in there. I don't have strong feelings toward Phase Shift [just buy the recipe, actually] but with CJ, Stealth, Fitness, and Teleport pools already there, pickings were slim.

The key thing, and I did this on a fire/kin, is getting that +Stealth IO and Stealth at 12. You'll be past Invisible. But, stub your toe and you're bright as day. And that's why I didn't slot Stealth for defense. It's a waste. Stub that toe, get shot, or whatever, and no def there. Better to slot CJ, which isn't too bad an idea.

This isn't perfect, might be much worse than yours, but there were just a few ghost concept things that didn't work with me. Especially since you're only be stealthed.

And the reason I ditched all AOE defense...I'm not sure why you'd ever need it. Which enemy has AOE thats significant?

Uh, back long ago when this started and respecs were 100m rather than 200m, how did the OP fare with his deals?

He was majorly having unhatched chickens, and counting them too.

Turn off AVG or Avast virus scanners while in CoH, or figure a way to disable the constant shielding. I never had a problem with AVG, but when I was researching what was wrong with mine recently, in addition to Avast, AVG can cause issues.

Avast's problem might be it's conflict w Windows Defender. When two programs are trying to find spyware at the same time they butt into each other, or something.

It took a while to get CoH back to normal after I reinstalled Win7 due to a hard drive failure [I did have a backup, but it sucked and didn't really contain what I valued most.]
