Speaking of which, my Rularuu Overseer is the most cowardly lapdog I've ever seen in a pet. Though I stopped at T1 due to my disappointment.

Quote:Welcome.Well I just moved over to Freedom from Triumph, made some new alts, will probably make more. This server seems pretty busy, so hopefully I can find some pickup groups.
I played up my first 50 on Liberty, then tried out Virtue and Freedom. And when we got those server transfers a year ago, I moved all my favorites here or parked them on Virtue.
Virtue doesn't have the ghetto feel our Atlas does, but the RPers skeeve me out. -
Thought I'd add: I respecced my kat/wp a while back and have shelved her because of it. What I did wrong was go for a one-tap cap with DA. It seems slow to me now. I'm going to smack DA at least twice anyway and if not high 30s works since RttC is godlike.
I'll eventually respec into my recharge build.
I suggest a balance rather than min/maxing everything. Also, even if you slotted kat/wp totally wrong, it'd still rock. If you slot it right, you'll be the last one standing, always. Only a defense debuff blitz will get you, or, in theory the ranged psi barrage that I've never had happen. -
So, did you guys run the last two on the list after I ducked out?
I just get so tired on Wednesdays.
[Though my having to use my SoA has really made me appreciate the powerset, though I tend to use it as a blaster.] -
-
Quote:Also, the stealthing just split us up. I eventually just gave up on it.Yeah it was ugly lol I brought the wrong toon to tank with so alot of it was my fault. Never tank with a brute that does not have taunt! lol
I think since the Ecru team is pretty well fixed in personnel, I might keep bringing my ice tank and complain when Novastar is able to steal aggro from me, rather than depend on knockback to save me. [Though I've had that toon, the AR/Dev blaster, for years. She's my main marketer and really deserves to finally become a 50.] -
Confirming Victory Underhill.
-
I'll bring some random alt. If we're low on aggro management I can get Toro, my most favoritest tank.
-
Quote:It's more strategy than anything else. All of my characters still run on SOs...unsure if joining a Master of TF run will be ideal haha.
Also, if you've ever been on one and someone does die, though they tend to apologize, often a few times, you realize it's not a big thing. It's just a way to have a bigger challenge. If we got the Mo everytime, well, what'd be the fun of that.
Oh, and I have salty as rogue now, so I'll either be on her or Toro. -
I'll see if I can tip Salty over to Rogue before this as otherwise I'll be playing toons that I haven't played in months. Either scrappers or a fire/rad controller that I've not played except on the only frad team that runs on Mondays. Though I believe that I've gotten her end issues, not a factor when running perma and stacked AM, but there was a time she couldn't do anything. Not the toon I want to take on a MO after shelving for months.

I can die every 117 seconds and do a self rez that's a nuke, benefitting the team. Unfortunately, I don't tend to die much at all. Death is not a barrier to me. Since it's just another attack/heal/end recovery, technically, I can't die.
I don't solo and I don't farm with a blaster. So we play totally differently. If doing what you do, your strategy is best. If doing what I do, mine is. -
Quote:I wasn't clear. I changed subjects and started talking to the orginal poster and not you. Most of what I said was with reference to Kinetic Melee and their -Damage secondary. Not Dark Melee and their -ToHit.
Dark Melee was just mentioned as a side note because of the positives of Siphon Life.
Re: The order of magnitude thing.
My math was off. I was thinking each hit, not each swing-and-a-miss.
Quote:Turns out I found on another server that I have a lvl 32 ice/ice tank from years ago that I totally forgot about, so I have a tank now I can roll with. I will have to respec him and fix his moves. Question is I dont even know the invention enhancements that well, do I just slot S/O's or go straight to I/O's.
Quick slotting suggestions: Kinetic combat and Haymakers, there's a taunt with smashing/lethal defense, a slow with it, Icicles can take...I think it's Multi-Strike, which gives defense and is great on damage and endurance, but I think the defense comes from the whole six set, so you'd not be able to ad procs [short for procedure, but really it's a % change for something to happen. Usually done for extra damage.] I think with that, slotting your shields, and putting one common defese IO in Combat Jumping, you hit 45%.
Here's my ice/dark asbuilt. It's not perfect in a min-max way, but totally capable and he's not getting respecced in a long time since I'm working on other alts now.
Ouf. This is prior to hitting 50 and the enhancements are from all over the place as far as levels go. I haven't even updated the common IOs.
I totally, totally recommend not taking Salt Crystals. I was getting it for more AoE for taunty purposes but my damage aura breaks them free immediately. I've done pyronic judgement [recommend] and Rularuu Lore [total crap, avoid, but looks great.] Also, I never turn Maneuvers on unless I'm exempted into the 20s, which happens a lot as this toon has mostly run Ouro flashbacks. That's also the reason I tend to slot bonus sets at around lv 27, even though getting the numbers I want takes more slots. It's a cheap build if you remove the uniques.

Edited to add: No one here will like this build. It was a levelling build, but the sets are what I'm showing you. Also, capped with only shields, sets, and CJ. No wasted powers. -
Power to the people. Stand up for your rights to have no maintenance on your MMO.
-
I'll bring whatever AT we need. I'll probably show up with a scrapper or my fire blaster, Saltier. I haven't had a scrapper out in a while.

Quote:I think your math is off by an order of magnitude....the KM -dam debuffs, your opponents will be inflicting around -50-60% damage easily.
A mob that inflicts an average of 1000 damage per attack to the defenseless will inflict an average of 36 damage per strike to this Tank. That is some serious mitigation - he probably won't need Aid Self but if you want to be as Tanky as can be, you are probably going to want it.
Another option is ignoring Aid Self and taking Dark Melee over Kinetic Melee for Siphon Life but the KM debuffs are pretty nasty and I think more suited to your needs. Plus KM has better AOE than DM, not by much but it exists...
The debuff Dark Melee does is -ToHit, so your and everyone depending on you just gained, I think it's 5.75 uninhanced, defense from that guy you're attacking.
And while DM is a great toolbox, the price you pay is single target attacks. Also of note is that Siphon Life can't heal you more than around 400ish, if memory serves, each hit. But that'll keep you going as you can hit every 4 seconds or so. -
Quote:I used to do TT on Champion when it was just there and Justice, so I have a level 29 there. I think I have an 8 on Justice. I live on Freedom so I can bring whatever.Newb Question - Do most of you just have tankers on all the servers to play? Or is there a character copy/transfer thing you can do?
I show up if I feel like it. It's a good event to go to, but mainly I run TFs with the forum group here on Freedom.
You can bring any level to TT, but you might feel a little like you're getting PLed if you are a level 2 showing up. The reason I have the toon on Justice is I thought it was Freedom day so I was asking in Tank HQ and they said to just roll a quick one, so I did. [But /kin feels a little to much like MA/ to me.] -

There was already a pretty big thread about Ice tanks recently. I've never been able to get into stone, but haven't taken one into the 30s, so what do I know? I levelled up an ice/dark fast and can proudly say he has never gotten one AE ticket or PL in any way.
[In fact, most of his TFs were done as Ouro flashbacks in the 20s, so he has an exemp friendly build.]
Ice/Dark has three end recovery and three self heals. [Hibernation counts as both.] And it's super easy to cap it to S/L and hit the 40s with E/N. I do so with only my main toggles, set bonuses, and CJ. I keep Maneuvers around for the team, but rarely turn it on.
Ice/ has two auras. One damage and the other slows. It has a fear melee [which I don't take] and can pull aggro also with it's build-up power and it's two endurance recovery powers. Ice can hold aggro like a bucket.
[Edit: I also have a toolbar of macros to make inspirations for resistance and damage. I really don't think it makes much difference, but I get paranoid around fire.]
Once you settle on an powerset combo, there is really good advice here, but when we talk theory, we tend to be a little too much of min-maxers.
Edit again: The Softcap is linked to Enhancement Diversification, but as far as defense goes, anything over 45% doesn't count. Check out the player guide section of the player help section here for some well written explanations. -
Quote:And you'll get that million in about 10 minutes. You don't need a MILLION. Do the tutorial. Vendor the TO enhancements and put the two large inspies on the market. This should net you around 100-200K. That's enough to get going.
IMO, Marketing is the better way to make money, and lots of it. But some people find it boring, like I find farming boring, but this is a fun little side project, and I was able to find something to do with my old claws/electric character, who I deleted over a year ago after the AT was dissed in the scrapper forum. She totally rocks and this and the costume for her I saved has gotten compliments. [But then again, it always attracted the creepers too. Even after I tell people that I'm a dude. Ew.]
As for learning content, by far, that is what players should do that don't already know it. Our AE system is really fun, but it's a small part of the game. The derogatory term "AE Babies" is generally used along with the joke of them saying "Is that near Atlas Park?" about everything. But, seriously, some AE Babies have been to Kings Row or Talos, on their way to Pocket-D. -

Looking at your build, I don't play like you do.
I go for rech then ranged def. I didn't load yours in mids, but it looks like you're working against your set bonuses.
If you're only going to do endgame content, defense becomes less important. Get permahastened and get RotP. That'll give you a nuke and endurance recovery power. :P But, really, endgame I don't see the need for defense. And if you're not playing endgame, make sure you slot lower level enh to keep your bonuses.
Look at the big thread. -
Quote:Mu Robes. If you are not sure what to buy with your tickets or don't want hassle then I suggest you buy diamonds and chrono skips and auction the for 1mil a piece, they cost 540 tickets and though it isn't the quickest money maker, you be able to grind out those sets and have an endless budget in a little while.
You can do +2/8 with Council, and I think Family and CoT. My grandmother could do +2/8 with Council, and she's dead.
