Average "Points Against" for the other 7 teams in the league: 371.714
My "Points Against": 526
I am losing to the schedule. -
Hey everyone,
I know there is some disappointment in a few of the COT pieces that didn't make it into the package, and I want to dispel some of the rumors that we do this to keep unique pieces in the NPC's hands.
What is more likely the case is that the pieces in question clash with over 20% of the other pieces in that area (cutting through geometry, in general looks really bad). In these cases we reserve the right to withhold these pieces in order to maintain the good looking characters you guys are capable of.
Not an answer that will make everyone happy, but we do our best to ensure that a vast majority of our costumes, current, past, and future, work with everything else. Not everything will fit the bill, and just work with one or two other pieces, but that is a situation we work hard to avoid in the first place. Sometimes a look just has to win out though, and the piece gets made anyway. It's just that we work under slightly different guidelines when concepting and making parts for an NPC group than we do for PC costumes. -
Everyone seems to be getting on Zwill's case about not knowing something about the game.
The game is BIG. Everyone misses something. I told a designer the other day that you can combine two enhancements that are already IN a power (i.e. not including one in your tray) and they had no idea that was in the game. Been there since launch (or a little after), not many people know it can be done because the UI was set up for simplification in this case. -
To clarify the rewards on the SSA's.
There is a "First Time Played" reward, that is independent of the 1-week cooldown. Thus when you first play an SSA, it will seem like you can get two rewards. In the following weeks it will only be one.
All SSA's share the same week-long cooldown, so when you have SSA 1.1 and SSA 1.2 and SSA 1.3, you can only get one week-long cooldown reward, not one for each.
The above is the reason for the "First Time Played" reward. A player who starts playing SSAs in the middle or the end of the arc isn't gated by the week-long cooldowns. They can play each SSA and get the good reward table every time. Only after they have done the "First Time" will they be gated further by the week-long cooldown. -
All Leads eventually get blamed for things that were well outside of their sphere of control. I've come to accept and deal with this.

Foster City Stealth (Positron) 104
SF RabidChihuahuas (Crosscheck) 129
Team Robo Dominato (Giant Monster) 82
Pacific Outsiders (Friend of Studio) 74
St. Martial Pai Gow (Alpha Wolf) 102
Los Gatos Bastardos (Clockwork 01) 85
Philadelphia Stars (Skippy Sidekick) 99
Fremont Traffic Jam (Zwillinger) 84
Yup, I lost Week 1 with the SECOND highest score of the week. The only team that could have beaten me was... the one I played against. I was all prepared to blame my loss on Nate Keading's Out For The Season 0 point performance on Sunday, but I don't think he would have scored me 25 points.
Lots of scores in the 80's (or less), so my performance in week one bodes well for the rest of the season. -
Quote:I didn't play FF last year. Thanks for the update. The only predicted upset (according to my odds), then, is your matchup, Posi.
I know I put you down on the ranking, but you've got the most bets so far. Posi the dark horse? Who knows?
Bets are still open for the next two weeks, guys. Get in on the fun.
The year before I was dead last.
Two years before that I won the whole thing.
Unsure about this year. -
Quote:Not sure if this link works for you all:Did Clockwork O1 pick up a new QB since Manning is out for awhile.

But no, 01 did not replace Manning. He's sticking to his backup QB for the time Manning is out (at least that's what he told me Tuesday). -
ESPN was kind enough to project points for the first week's games for us... so here are what the "experts" think our teams will do.

To those who think the Signature Story rewards are the promised "Solo Path" to Incarnate:
It isn't.
Was never intended to be.
It's simply a bonus being given to players who play the Sig Stories.
The solo path Incarnate stuff is later. By the time you guys really pushed to having us include it, 21 was already locked down, content-wise.
Also note: Solo Path does not equal "at the same rate as those who do Trials". Those players will ALWAYS advance through the system faster. Otherwise the Trails will shrivel up and die, and those people who (gasp) like them will never get a chance to run them. -
Quote:Man, even Arachnos is confused! In the "Brawling with the Big Boys" arc from Crimson Revenant, the overview/first mission briefing reads:The Longbow in the base talk about being excited to meet BAB, so he must be the visiting Phalanx member, right? There's no mention of any other signature characters in the arc.
Then again, the souvenir for the arc is Back Alley Brawler's mask. I see shades. But I don't see a mask as part of his costume... unless the final mission has him in an alternate costume. -

Anything you have earned via the Vet Reward system will be pre-selected for you in the Paragon Rewards Program. This way you can't put a character into a state where they have a reward they have not selected yet.
-
Yeah, I made that in Prezi Desktop. Prezi has some pretty severe limitations, but like any tool, you work with what you have and make the best of it. I am glad you guys enjoyed the hard work.
-
Hey everyone.
Instead of trying to uprez cellphone pictures or squint to see all the details of the presentation we did at San Diego ComicCon, I got permission to make the presentation public via the Prezi website.
So, if you have Flash enabled, you can check out the presentation (without our lovely voice overs, sadly) here at the Prezi website.
Click the right arrow to move forward through the path, left arrow to move back, and you can click any part of it to center that part. -
Quote:Start of CoH (seven year +) vets. Not start of Freedom.First up, thanks for summarizing these Von, you really deserve the credit that Zwillinger gives you
*reading through summary*
Oh!?
Lemme see if I get this right: If I will be inside a subscription period when i21/CoHF goes live, I will automatically be made a Tier 9, regardless of how many veteran rewards I've got?? Is that what this means???? -
Tier 9 VIP will feature rotating bonuses, new bonuses will come in and old ones will retire. So there WILL be future new content for the system. It's just that in this way the tree won't become infinitely huge and unwieldy.
-
Quote:Your 400 bonus Paragon Points for your VIP Subscription do not count towards your earning another Paragon Reward Token in this system. Only points purchased count towards Tokens. You are forgetting the 400 free Paragon Points/Month. So you seem to get 4 Reward Tokens every 3 months, and 17 Reward Tokens every year (12 months + 1 per year + 4,800 Paragon Points, if used).
Positron said that existing Vets will have what they got auto-filled in the program. -
Ok, still some confusion, I'll try and clear up some questions:
* What happens if you are Premium, assign slots, go VIP, then back to Premium?
Currently, in this scenario you will be able to reassign your slots, but ONLY on the same server you assigned them to when you were Premium.
* Is there a "reset my selections" option?
Not currently, other than the "within the same server" scenario above. This may be something we consider as a future feature if demand is high enough.
* Player makes a Free account, creates a character on Server A, finds out his friends are on Server B, is there a way to move slots?
No, but in this scenario Player has two choices: Server transfer the character(s) (making them a Premium player in the process) or simply start another Free-level account (giving them 2 slots to assign to whatever server they wish).
* Can a VIP player reassign their slots?
No.
* Does a VIP player get to reassign their slots if they dropped down to Premium (allowing them to choose what characters to play and what servers) and then goes back to VIP?
Going back to VIP in this case will revert your slot assignments to what they were when you were last VIP. Characters over 12 on a server where you did not have slots will be locked.
* What happens to characters that are NOT unlocked when I assign my slots?
They are kept around, waiting to be unlocked.
CLARIFICATION about Masterminds (and Controllers):
Zwill said that you can choose to unlock MM and Controllers with your Paragon Reward tokens. This is INCORRECT. MM and Controllers are automatically unlocked when you have accumulated enough Paragon Reward Tokens (for existing veterans it's around 3 years). You don't even need to spend these Reward tokens to get the unlock. Of course, you can always unlock them early by buying them on the Paragon Market.
Finally, I am stealing Chad Guzlow-man's list because I love it so much:
If you are not paying for your account in City of Heroes Freedom, this is how many characters you'll have access to:- BASE FREE/PREMIUM ACCOUNT: 2 characters, total
- OWN GOING ROGUE BEFORE FREEDOM LAUNCH: Add 2 more characters
- PER YEAR OF PAST SUBSCRIPTION: Add 1 character per year
- PER PURCHASED CHARACTER SLOT (beyond standard 12 per server): Add 1 character per slot purchased
If you are paying your subscription come City of Heroes Freedom, this is how many characters you'll have access to:- VIP ACCOUNT: 12 characters PER SERVER total (these are not moveable/transferrable. They are always unlocked on every server, just like today)
- OWN GOING ROGUE BEFORE FREEDOM LAUNCH: Gain 2 more character slots
- PER YEAR OF PAST SUBSCRIPTION: Add 1 character per year
- PER PURCHASED CHARACTER SLOT (beyond standard 12 per server): Add 1 character per slot purchased
- Other bonuses possible (+2 for being an i12 subscriber, etc.)
-
On Tuesday when we announced City of Heroes Freedom what came with that announcement was a ton of information. We worked on making sure that we had the answers for you ahead of time, but we couldnt anticipate everything you were going to ask, so I wanted to take this opportunity to clarify and answer questions about some things that keep popping up.
VIP Server
First and foremost, its optional. If you are a VIP subscriber you can play on any server. Premium and Free players can play on any server except the VIP one. Second, its a brand new server. We are not going to take an existing server and make it the VIP server. That would be unfair to all other server communities and counter to one of our goals, which is for your friends to try out (or come back to) City of Heroes and play with you at no cost.
Well update the FAQ with the following as well:
What happens to characters I make/transferred to the VIP server if I am no longer a VIP?
In this scenario, youll be able to get to the Character Screen of the VIP server and use any Server Transfer tokens you have (either banked from your VIP subscription or purchased) to move those characters to any other server. You cannot transfer TO the VIP server unless you are a VIP. Second Measure also talks about this here.
Supergroup Transfers (Including bases)
This is something we anticipated and are actively working on, but it likely wont be ready for City of Heroes Freedoms launch. We are committing to bringing you this service in the future and it wont be just to the VIP server, it will be between any server. It will likely require the Supergroups Super Leader to actually execute the transfer.
Restricted Archetypes
Free and Premium players are not allowed to make or play Masterminds, Controllers, Soldiers of Arachnos, or Kheldians. There are many reasons behind this, not the least of which is the extra CPU drain some of these Archetypes can have on the servers. We want all players (free and VIP) to have a smooth gaming experience and if that means were going to restrict some Archetypes to ensure that, we will.
However, the Paragon Rewards program has an unlock for Masterminds and Controllers at Tier 5 (which is about a three-year CoH veteran status). So if you have enough veteran status at the launch of City of Heroes Freedom, you will be able to play these restricted archetypes on a Premium account on day one. As always, we'll be chatting more about the Paragon Rewards in the coming weeks.
First Wards Level range
First Ward is a zone in Praetoria, continuing many of the storylines of that world. It takes place from levels 20 to 26. -
You forgot:
- It should have trainers sprinkled within so I can level up without leaving
-
Thanks everyone. Today's the big Four Oh.
I started working in the video games industry when I was 20. Man, I have been making games for half my life. -

Hey guys,
Thanks to your feedback we believe we have tracked down the cause of this lag (we did something weird with Leagues), we're working to get this resolved on the live servers as soon as possible.
Thank you for your patience, understanding, and most of all your feedback on this situation.
