  1. Reishi grabbed the hoof and spun it counter-clockwise, causing Jake to lose his balance and do a face plant.
"I'm not 'little' by human standards, kid," she grinned.

    Praetorians?
    Who or what are they?
    Does anyone even know?

    [/ QUOTE ]
ever seen/heard of the episode of Star Trek called "Mirror, Mirror"?
  3. Jake's laughing was cut off by Reishi's fist slamming into his face.
"So ya wanna fight like a punk, eh? You want to forget discipline and restraint and just go all out?!" she demanded.
She turned to the ninja and smiled, "Sorry, but punks like this tick me off, he's all yours when I'm done."
  4. Expending surprisingly little muscle power, Kagura dashed toward Yin.
  5. [ QUOTE ]
Jake just smirked as he watched the fight, "Oh good, the kiddos know karate atleast, wonder if this joint's gonna get any more street fighters, atleast I would have a fun match then."

    [/ QUOTE ]
(OOC: Heehee...he should fight Reishi then )
  6. Reishi looked over at the older man, then back at Yin.
"Work on your flexibility too, I can't tell you how many young punks I saw get their limbs dislocated by wannabe pro wrestlers because they thought martial arts were all about speed and power. Not to mention it makes falling easier."
It was then that Kagura regained her composure and glanced over at Reishi with an anxious look.
"Looks like Kagura wants to fight ya too, are ya up for it? She's not even close to as good as me," Reishi laughed.
Oddly, Kagura didn't register that as an insult.
It wasn't, really, few could even hope to match Reishi in strength and skill and even fewer in endurance.
  7. Yin probably never knew what hit him.
Rather than block or dodge, Reishi simply stopped his attack altogether by driving her heel down on his back, just as he was mere inches from her own body. Dust flew everywhere as the ground cracked below the boy's body.
"Impressive, but you could do without the grunting," she said, "Don't feel bad 'bout gettin knocked around, I've been trainin since I could make a fist. Add ta that I'm a mutant, I heal a lot faster than normal people."
  8. do you really lose your forum account when you cancel your game account? 0_o
  9. Reishi didn't bother blocking the kick. Strangely enough, she didn't even move.
"Hm, not enough oomph to it. Are you focusing your chi? Or maybe you call it ki...or chakra..."
  10. "Well, first come first serve I always say," Reishi said, setting the dazed Kagura down nearby.
"My name is Tenryuu Reishi, alumni of the Tempest and Earth schools. If yer still decidin which school to join, I can help ya, but first I need to see you fight," Reishi stood in a ready position, "The first move is yours."
  11. (OOC: Poo...I went too fast...now i gotta wait for everyone ELSE to end Day 1...)
  12. "..Kagura!" Reishi said, naming the small girl. (OOC: I got sick of waiting )
"Ka...gu...ra..." the girl said, "I like."
A faint smile crept across her face.
"Awright! We're goin' to the temples!" Reishi grabbed the girl's hand and began running full tilt.
"So...I guess she doesn't need us, then..." Nicholas said.
    "Whatever," Ryuji sighed.

"Just as I remember it!" Reishi said after running the entire way.
"Nyuuuuuuu," was Kagura's exasperated reply, after being DRAGGED the whole way.
Reishi surveyed the new students. They had promise, but she wondered....
She walked up to a group of tense-looking students, still dragging Kagura.
"YO! What's up kids?!" she called, despite the fact she was probably younger or the same age as at least one.
A very frightening grin crept across her face. Had they entered the school yet, the other students would break out into a cold sweat at this point. Even some of the teachers feared her. The groundskeeper definately didn't appreciate the astronomical amount of property damage she tended to inflict.
"Who's up for a quick match?" she asked.
  13. I'd volunteer for a halloween RP...
but we'd probably end up with a legion of zombies
and one guy with a chainsaw and shotgun
  14. (OOC: Teachers are all former students, so they're exclusive to the school. They're different from alumni in that alumni typically have mastered both schools, or at least earned a diploma. Teachers are usually experts in one school or the other, not both.
and yes, the MA/DA is kinda out...unless you can make it work within the parameters somehow. The schools frown upon using techniques that damage just by being turned on. You can train a resistance to heat pretty easy but a resistance to the nether energies is nearly impossible.
To summarize: It needs to be trainable by a normal human.)

    [/ QUOTE ]

Kind of hard with all these "They have to know <insert my character>" threads that popped up recently. I wonder who's idea that was...

    [/ QUOTE ]
yeah those threads kind of irritate me...
when i make/run RP threads I always try to make them as exclusive to one another as possible.
For instance it's physically impossible for The Game to take place in normal continuity. And Battle For Tokyo is essentially a large 'What If?' scenario that's only semi-canon until Cryptic tells us what happened to other cities outside Paragon. Millenium Arena is also non-canon.
    Twin Temples, however....
  16. (OOC: Time for my intro then I guess)

The beach was certainly quiet. Perfect for sunbathing.
Clad in only a bathing suit, Tenryuu Reishi, master of seven styles and alumni of the Twin Temples, was enjoying the warm sun.
She wasn't alone, however. Not far away her new protege and old friends- Nicholas Sarder (OOC: yes this guy is guest starring everywhere...), and Hyoumura Ryuji- were sparring.
The young girl was only thirteen years old, and was holding her own against a trained secret service agent and ancient warrior from time immemorial. That alone was impressive, and deserving of Reishi's recomendation for the temple.
Of course, neither Nicholas nor Ryuji were using their powers beyond martial arts. It still didn't diminish her achievement: Ryuji and Nicholas had a vast size difference and used different styles as well.
"Ok kid," Reishi said, standing up and taking her sunglasses off, "Time for a lil' one on one!"
Prep time wasn't necessary. Upon hearing this, Ryuji and Nicholas simultaneously jumped out of the way as Reishi came charging in, slamming her fist into the sand where the young girl once was. The result was a massive pillar of sand kicked up from the impact.
Reishi blocked the anticipated attack from her left side, and the follow up. The young girl then vaulted over Reishi and landed behind her, delivering a kick square in her back.
It was a strong kick, Reishi had to admit, plenty of style and accuracy, but not enough strength.
Reishi reached over her back, grabbed the girl's leg and flung her over her head like a basketball. The girl did a hand spring and landed on her feet, not wasting any time in attacking Reishi again.
The fight ensued for quite some time, Reishi remaining on the defensive for the sake of the girl's health. They had an unspoken agreement that all the girl had to do was land a hit on Reishi's face or knock her down to win the match.
So far, Reishi hadn't lost a match. She always administered a single hit K.O. after about five minutes of fighting.
This time was a little different. Reishi merely pinned her.
"You've got talent, lots of style and good coordination, but you lack..." Reishi began.
    "Power," Ryuji cut in.
    "Experience," Nicholas cut in.
    "...what they said," Reishi finished.
The girl merely nodded, she didn't speak much.
"Anyway, tomorrow we're going to the Twin Temples, where I trained as a child. You'll learn what you need there. But first," Reishi mused, "You need a name! We need to be able to call you SOMETHING!"
"How bout 'Pigtails'?" Ryuji said sarcastically.
As bad as the suggestion was, it was true. The girl always wore some kind of pigtails.
"Nah, how about Sarah?" Nicholas put in.
"Isn't your fiance named Sarah?" Ryuji retorted.
    "...shut up midget..."
    "You first blondie,"
"Both of you put a sock in it before I do it for you!" Reishi yelled.
Reishi took a deep breath and looked the girl in the eyes.
    "I'm gonna call you..."
(OOC: I'm open to suggestions )

((Weeeell, I've been tinkering around with my ninja/poison melee mastermind concept. He's not done yet - deleted and remade 2 times so far - but I should have him stamped down soon enough. WAS Dragon of Mists, then I decided that was too long, was Venom Dragon, then I decided that was too uninspired...so as soon as I find a proper ID, I can get him in here if you'd like. And yes, he'd be School of the Tempest ))

  19. (OOC: still lookin for some teachers )
  20. (OOC: 5' 5" 120 lbs is tiny?!
    My sister must be microscopic...)
  21. (OOC: No set restriction on number of characters, but please try to be realistic
1 to 3 should be fine.
    As far as tanker auras...
That's a touchy area. Obviously allowing the melee and not the auras is a little silly, but being surrounded by flame, ice, or pure darkness would give an unnecessary advantage. Be conservative with Fire, electric, and Ice, and Darkness is just gonna be no. Energy Armor is a bit more acceptable. Ice, electric, and Fire can actually be fun and interesting if you use them correctly.
But the third question, sticking to the archetypes...
It's up to you, but if you've ever seen certain kung fu movies, some of the fighters seem to be martial arts/super strength/Invuln/Super Reflexes Tank-Scrappers with Super Jump)
  22. Once every ten years, a mysterious, a pair of shrouded temples appear on Earth.
They are the Twin Temples. Inhabiting these temples are students of many forgotten martial arts, joined together to earn the right to be trained by the High Master.
Every ten years a new group of students is welcomed into the temples. Each student must choose for himself which school to enter:
The School of the Tempest, or the School of the Mountain.
The School of the Tempest is destructive, and empasizes offensive techniques. Strength is valued over everything, and the weak either become strong or perish.
The School of the Mountain is much larger. Every student is valued, and the martial arts techniques empasize defense. Their numbers are greater, but each individual member is weaker by comparison.
The two schools are prone to quarreling between students as well as between teachers, but the High Master has final say in all conflicts. He has the following decrees:
Murder is not tolerated under any circumstances. Any student that murders another student is immediately exiled. With their arms and legs broken.
Students may fight teachers. But teachers may not challenge students.
Students are free to leave the temple at any time, but may not return until after the ten year period, unless it is during the Welcoming Moon (i.e., you have 28 days to decide whether to return or not after the game begins)
Weapons are expressly forbidden. An exception is given to staves and other wooden weapons, but only if the student has fashioned it from one of the temple's oak trees or bamboo.
(OOC: This is an RP open to martial artist characters ONLY. The basic premise is similar to AH/SH/SV101, EXCEPT! The High Master (principal) is almost completely hands off.
The two temples occupy an area roughly the size of a university. The actual temple structures are quite large (about the size of a gothic cathedral), and are surrounded by numerous gardens and forests. There's a clearing in the center and on the sides of the temples for sparring and basic training.
No restrictions on gender, NO ACTIVE POWERS.
Basically you're welcome to pool powers except teleportation, and if it's a function of your own body it's pretty much fine.
Here's a basic list of what would be considered 'acceptable':
    Martial Arts (duh)
    Super Strength
    Super Speed
    Flight
    Super Jump
Energy, Fire, Ice, Electric, and Dark melee (Only if the effect is a result of aura control, no demonic pacts or technology. I'd say no magic either but ki/chi/chakra control can be considered magic...sorta.)
    Invulnerability (Please downplay it though...)
Regeneration (see above. This is actually a little easier to work with though)
    Super Reflexes
Basically only natural and mutant origin.
Start off by listing your character, who they are, that kinda stuff.
Then decide which of the temples to join. You're not nailed down to this choice. It is possible (and encouraged, if you can manage it) to receive training from both schools.
I'll also leave coming up with instructors to you guys, here's what we'd need:
    Innkeeper
    2 or more Tempest instructors
    2 or more Mountain instructors
    The Tempest master
    The Mountain master
    Basic Trainer
    Scholar

There's no minimum character age, and there's no restriction on gender. My character is actually an alumni of both schools....at age 9. She's returning to help point the students in the right direction.
    Anyway...
    Have fun!)
  23. Kara's shift finished without any hitches. She even got to see Mina again. They played blackjack for M&Ms.
Kara was out a bag of M&Ms now. And owed the quiet girl a second bag tomorrow. Who knew a bedridden mute girl with agoraphobia would be so good at blackjack? Or maybe Kara just sucked at it.
At once, Kara began driving to the address listed for the Leslios family.
The road was long and winding up the large hill, but it was peaceful, serene even.
    Until she reached the checkpoint.
She stopped and a husky security guard (she could tell the difference between a cop and a security guard) came up to her car.
    "What's wrong?" she asked.
"Sorry lassy," the guard said in a thick scottish accent, "Ye can't be ere, orders o Tharomar."
    "Uh, why?" she questioned.
"Dunno, jus' doin me job, now turn aroun and go back," he said.
Kara wasn't one to take this lying down. She knew the house wasn't very far away from here, so she obliged the guard and turned around and headed back towards town.
Actually, she only went about half a mile before she pulled off onto the shoulder and got out of her car. She'd be going hiking.
Fortunately she had the common sense to not wear her nurse's uniform. And now she was even more glad she didn't. Climbing through the prickly needles would probably have torn up her pantyhose. Jeans were so much more convenient.
As expected, the checkpoints were only 'protecting' the roads leading to the house. They apparently only planned for looky-loos, not for people who actually wanted to reach the house.
When she finally reached the road behind the checkpoints, she noticed a large metal gate with a symbol on the bars. Most likely the family's seal.
Jumping the gate was rather easy, it appeared to have been electrified at one point, and there was barbed wire strewn across the overgrown lawn sprouting through the snow on the other side.
She was REALLY glad she wasn't wearing her nurse's uniform.
The driveway was quite long itself. When she finally reached the top, she was completely out of breath.
    For more than one reason.
The house was smashed. Literally smashed. Upon closer inspection, the doors were all torn off their hinges. Given the size of the front door, this would have been quite a feat.
She walked past one of the fallen doors. The damage around her was immense. There wasn't a single window in the building with glass in it. And all the furniture was either smashed or shredded, apparently by some kind of blade or claw.
No sooner did she enter the building that a strong, familiar scent (especially to nurses) invaded her nostrils.
    Blood. Lots of blood.
    Dried blood, obviously.
Something had happened here, something horrible. And what was most frightening was that Tharomar was apparently trying to cover it up. Well, it COULD be Tharomar, or someone close to them. Like the Leslios family.
Or what's left of them, anyway. It was clear from the sheer amount of dried blood on the carpets and walls and furniture that someone must have been killed here.
Kara did a thorough inspection of the house, walking in and out of each room. Some of the rooms were completely destroyed, and others were pristine. The common thread between the smashed rooms was the presence of personal belongings. Combs, pens, papers, the usual consumables. No valuables though. The security guards or remaining Leslios family members had probably cleaned out the valuables. Probably someone hired to do it, because the stench and scenes of destruction were almost too much for Kara. Only the thought of finding out what happened here and helping Mina kept her going.
Seeing all this destruction gave Kara a pretty good idea why she was so traumatized though.
The last room in a long row of rooms before a large set of doors, presumably to the master bedroom, was, oddly enough, locked.
At this point Kara had little concern for security and set about cracking the door open with a crowbar she had brought with her. Given the security around the building she believed it would probably have been prudent to bring it. Crowbars were such useful tools after all.
This room was the strangest yet. It was a girl's room, given the presence of pink and stuffed animals. The strange part was it was absolutely pristine. No 'claw' marks, no turned over furniture, nothing.
The room was decorated with pictures of bands from a number of years ago, as well as a large fluffy bed and a vanity with a mirror covered in...
    Photos.
Kara raced over to the photos. They all depicted Mina with various people, including who she recognized as several board members of Tharomar (she recognized them from the donation wall of fame at the hospital). Some depicted her with people her own age, most likely friends. The only slightly strange thing about the photos, Kara noticed, was that Mina didn't look much different now than she did then. Could probably be attributed to her time in the hospital or stunted growth or some such thing. She was more tan in each of the pictures, which was basically a given considering, again, her time in the hospital. Her hair was shorter in some of the pictures too. Kara thought she looked cuter with long hair, however.
Since no one was likely to come here again, Kara scooped up the photos and put them in her handbag (which also contained the crowbar).
Glancing around the room again, she noticed a stuff bear on the ground. It was careworn, usually a sign of it being important to someone. Given this was Mina's room, Kara deduced it was hers.
Kara gingerly picked up the dust-covered toy, brushed it off, and placed it in the now-crowded handbag.
"I guess that's enough for today," Kara said to herself, and made her way back outside.
Fortunately and unfortunately, it was now dark outside. She was able to avoid the guards using the same route, but nearly slipped in the snow a few times getting back to her car, which was a bit difficult to find considering the snow.
Finally, she opened her door, placed her bag on the passenger seat, sat down, and drove home.

    Meanwhile....
The blonde haired man in a trenchcoat heard his phone ring.
    "Hello?" he said.
"Agent Nicholas Sarder?" came a voice.
    "That's me," Nicholas replied.
"I have a job for you."

(OOC: He won't be appearing for quite a while FYI)
  24. but that begs the question...
    uh...
you're playing CoH and you've never heard of hellions...?
  25. hate to say it...
    he's a hellion in spandex.
