...eyes which presently peeped past the targeting scope of a long-barreled plasma rifle from a rooftop not too far away. The rifle was just a tool at hand. Its magnification was simply better than that of his cybereyes... Of course, that didn't go to say he wouldn't use the thing if reason emerged.
Suddenly, the stalker appeared right under the Detective, one hand gripped him by the neck, the other reached for the gremlin woman. Then they were gone.

Entrance to the Pocket Dimensional Nightclub, Kings Row

The van housing a dimensional portal to Zero's otherworldly nightclub bounced violently as a ripple in the air around it tore open to reveal a police detective captive in the hands of a long-range teleporting dark figure. If his grip reached the gremlin woman, then she too would follow, and later, any diving persons or shots fired.

"My quarrel lies not with thee", he began in a deep mournful voice. "But may God help you if you deny me what I seek. Those responsible for the fall of my brother Esua, I have tracked beyond this door. But between you two, his weapons have gone missing. I want them back, so that I may bury them with him."

The hero was agile, having evaded the hydroblasts. Instinctively, the squad of twelve held up their shields to deflect the man's laser eye beam back at him.

Meanwhile, young Sister Altair Mary Stevens better known as Codename had heard the commotion and was running across the fields of the nunnery over to the church. Ahead of her, she saw the Swiss guards hired to guard the church over the Easter period rushing inside, only to be thrown back out with a roaring arc of fire. The seemingly magical flames latched onto their uniforms and consumed them whole in a matter of seconds.

"Dear Lord" she prayed, coming to a sudden stop to rethink her next course of action. "What in your holiest name has come upon this church?"

Damsel watched as Storm headed upstairs to confront the cause of the ruckus. She was too pregnant to really help out so she turned to Glittergirl, her adult daughter from the same future as Centurion. Glittergirl looked from her mother to her younger self, little Hazel, and then to her comatose father, who laid breathing but unresponsive. He needed little life-supporting medical machinery and following assassination attempts by demons infiltrating the city hospital, had been transferred to the safest place for him; his own secret lair, a sacred, weaponised crypt infused with protective and offensive magic.

Glittergirl and her currently yet-to-be-born younger brother Price armed themselves and headed up the long stairway leading to the church. They followed closely behind Storm who was now expressing a request for the intruding individuals to stand down, as was common practice. Price and his elder sister entered the church to a terrifying scene. The place looked like the aftermath of a zombie massacre as the last of the undead and ghostly congregation were blasted into the ether by the magical energy attacks of the intruding forces. Price saw the churchmen frozen at the altar and the innocent churchgoers panicking nearby. "Get the people out of here" he ordered, assuming his usual role of command among the younger Timehunters. "We'll let Storm do his thing and I'll give him support with my trick-arrows. These guys seem to be military-trained, smart, organised and very efficient. Worst of all, their weapons are magic... I hate magic!"

    Quote:
"You have but one chance to leave this place, do so now and you will be spared, refuse...and you face a force of nature, me!"
A dozen of the armed soldiers responded to the electric man by blasting forth a full-body-wide pillar of water, each strong enough to break through a solid wall, in an attempt to push him out of the air and drown him without mercy. "By standing against us, you have made yourselves enemies of the Most High. You have been deemed a good man, a hero of the people, stand aside now, or be put to death," one of them warned, his voice a deep resounding growl.

    Moth Cathedral, Dark Astoria.

Easter Sunday. Day of Resurrection according to the canonical gospels. Not surprisingly, the church now known for it's undead congregation was today, full of zombies and ghosts, no doubt hoping to somehow be allowed passage out of the afterlife and granted life anew. They sung along with the choir's hymns and heeded the moral message of the preacher's sermon. As the music grew livelier, they even danced and rejoiced with the living, stopping to reattach fallen limbs.

Meanwhile outside on the grounds, security seemed to be very tight. It was just before dawn and was still very dark out. Soldiers of the Ancient Order of Swiss Guards held their posts along the perimeter of the church, carrying out regular radio checks at half-hour intervals. Five minutes ago was the last radio check and since then, four of the baggy-bottoms, beret-wearing brightly coloured soldiers had been assaulted and now laid unconscious by the entry gates.

A train of dark figures, each clad in Kevlar armour and long trenchcoats poured out of nowhere, seemingly teleporting in from a ripple in the air. They were armed to the teeth with all manners of magic-imbued bladed weapons, shields, firearms and explosives. All in all they counted up to ten sets of twelve.

"Welcome your majesty" said one of them, greeting a similarly armed woman who had just appeared, towards the rear of the assembly. He stood a head taller than her and spoke respectfully but also with authority. "We have breeched the grounds and are awaiting your orders before taking the building."

"Where are they keeping his body?" asked the woman.

"Elders say, he sleeps in the crypts below, watched over by the Nighthunters and guarded by the twelve. His rite of awakening begins at dawn, your majesty."

"Then we haven't any time to waste" she replied. "We must reach him before the Angels do. History is ours to alter, Shimon!"

"So says the prophecy!" Shimon agreed.

As the woman stepped into the light of the morning service, her face became clear to see. It bore a striking resemblance to Rachel Hunter, better known as the Damsel, wife to the comatose Priest. "Swarm the church" she ordered, "head straight down into the crypt and capture this so-called Priest."

Within minutes, the cathedral was overrun. Zombies and restless spirits alike howled and shrieked in anger, lashing out and striking the invading figures. The church deacons looked on in disbelief, some frozen with shock. The few human churchgoers scrambled to escape. The invaders had clearly abandoned using the element of surprise as soon after, the alarm reached the heroes below and the Swiss guards along the perimeter. Together, they prepared for battle.

...she presented the Representative with the same ID card she'd given to Mulligan earlier. "Can you get anything off that to make this go a little faster?" / "Well," the Outsider said... "I think we've filled in everything, though I do have a problem with one of the fields and a good reason as to why."
After being approved, agents of the City Representative collected the forms and Ildela's foreign ID away with them, returning much later with three brand new Paragon City Hero Identification cards. After final inspections, the City Representative handed the ID's over to Dt Mulligan and sent the group on their way.

Once back outside, the detective awarded the three heroes with their respective ID's. "On behalf of the brave heroes and proud citizens of Paragon City, I welcome you Derek the Aimless; magic swordsman, Infinite Zero; electric kineticist and the Outsider; long-range teleporter, to the esteemed service of our great country, as Superheroes, defenders of truth and protectors of the innocent. However temporary your stay in our dimension, you'll always be a welcomed visitor."

With a gentle smile the police detective produced three silver badges and presented them to the trio. "In honour of your fine work earlier this evening, the City Representative has awarded you and your other friends with the custom-made Gunman Stopper badge. So far we only have you three on record. Once the others are identified, all of your ID communicator chips should be mutually accessible under one superleague radio frequency. Why don't you give it a try?"

Meanwhile, as the detective spoke, a dark figure had audaciously entered the dimensional theatres of Atlas Park and was now ascending the stairs leading to City Hall, the gremlin woman and the long-coat official caught dead in his sights. Onwards he climbed, magically hidden by night and cloaked in shadow.

Once that hasw happened you are not really a villain you are just pathetic! Thanks to the LoRDs thread we have a group of believable bad guys.
In echo of what's happening in Northern Africa these days, my thoughts have often wandered to the fate of the League of Righteous Destroyers, that handful of evil villains and their super-smart schemer, Romanov. If I remember correctly, our seven favourite American villains now successfully control the French-owned African Island of Îles de Liberté, after manipulating the country into a state of unrest and inserting their own political figures to lead that part of the world.

I remember the Priest was one of the heroes who wandered over and almost learnt of the plot, following a big fight that saw the demon-possessed 'Dark Pistol' kicked out of the League and then 'exorcised back to her dead state' by the Priest. Of course, since being resurrected (honestly can't remember how) she's broken away and joined another politically-driven group of world villains, the secretive and otherworldly cult of the Midnight Illuminati.

Interestingly, the mad Doctor Mechano recently re-manufactured Pistol, so this younger, newer version wouldn't properly recall her actions against the Lords, all those years ago while dead and under demonic possession... until.

So where is everybody these days? @Romanov, @Dante, @Bathory, @Ammon, @spectralent, @Architect? I'd like to know whats up with Lords RP lately.

"Not to worry er..." said the detective, glancing at the forms of the young woman and her male accomplice to try and peak at their names and alias. "They have technology that can decipher language, calligraphy, patterns in writing, stuff like that. You just do your best where you can, be honest and tell us everything. Powers, skills, weapons, combat efficiency levels, origins and a brief background on what you use your powers for. If it's to help people, which we hope it is, explain why. If not, tell us what it is exactly that you do. The three of you take your time and er, let me know when you're finished."

"I'd also point out he left us right next to Ms. Liberty, who last I checked is a registered hero", Ildela replied, gesturing to the woman in question...
Detective Mulligan had wanted for the displaced heroes in his care not to overhear his conversation with police partner Detective Dean Doyle. He completed the call and exited his unmarked vehicle, a dusty brown 1972 Ford Consul GT. He'd kept an eye trained on his three captives all along and was glad to see they'd remained faithful as heroes, walking towards the great doors of City Hall as instructed. Holding on to his hat, longcoat fluttering in the late night breeze, he semi-jogged along, catching up to his new friends and holding open the doors for them. "I'm here, I'm here" he said, "Go on in."

The ever-present Paragon City Representative happened to be by the door just then and greeted the handcuffed trio, then their escorting officer. "Good evening to you too Ma'am" replied Mulligan. "Please, meet some of the fine heroes who saved the good people of Kings Row from the madman shooter earlier tonight. I have no doubt you've already heard of them within the past couple hours but you must know, they're actually from a buncha' other worlds. As the story would seem, they were all thrown down here accidentally. We have reason to suspect that crazy old Doctor Mechano, meddling with the dimensional plane or stream whatever it is they call it. At any rate, we was hoping City Hall could start processing these upstanding individuals through hero registration, dimensional refugee papers and all those other migration legalities. I still need a police report from them so I'll stick around until their done, if that's okay with you?" The lady agreed and invited the trio inside, leading them to the main desk where piles of forms and paperwork laid waiting. "I assume y'all read and write?" asked Mulligan.

An unknown figure stood atop a distant rooftop, watching the remaining weapons of Esau not collected by the mage's gremlins being gathered and collected by what he identified as the local authorities. He would have words with this gremlin lady, if not the authorities holding her.

Having successfully crossed the *forcefield borders via Skyway City, the detective soon arrived in Atlas Park, skidding to a halt at the City Hall. The looming statue of the *1940's hero Atlas in likeness of the Greek deity, towered over them. Miss Liberty, incarnate of the Olympian gods, stood tall upon her plinth, glowing in her colourful red and blue costume and armour. Excalibur, the fae sword of King Arthur sheathed by her side and the Girdle of Hera at her waist.

"Ladies and gentleman, welcome to Atlas Park, Paragon City" said the detective. "Ildela... hope I pronounced that correctly? Please lead your extradimensional friends inside and have the three of you properly registered. I trust you will not try to remove your cuffs? I'll be right behind you, just going to make some calls."

"For what it's worth, they're right about not being responsible. The one that did it flew off just before you arrived.
"Thank you lady, we're looking into it. Please, get in and help yourself to some origin-appropriate bracelets" said Mulligan, letting the three of them enter his car. He looked upwards after the giant dragon who along with the 'registered' heroes joined Captain Ron Belle's SWAT/Paragon Protector task force to apprehend the fleeing refugees. "This night is just getting weirder and weirder" he sighed, opening the driver-side door.

"Detective Mulligan!" yelled a non-uniform, running through the crime scene waving some CCTV screen-prints.

"Thought I put you on CCTV analysis Brogan, what you doing all the way out here?" asked the detective.

"We've found something sir," he reported. "Just after the battle, there were robot drones launched to the scene. One of them projected an image of a certain Doctor Mechano, delivering some message to the amassed heroes. They didn't take too kindly to him, sir. We think he might be behind the terrorist attack."

"Right, good work Brogan" said the detective, collecting the print outs and entering his car. He leant across to his self-handcuffed power-dampened captives, more passengers than prisoners and handed over the CCTV evidence. "It'll be a short but interesting ride to Atlas Park" he said, starting the car and driving out in the opposite direction to the speeding SWAT vans. "We'll get you registered, then pay Captain Ron Belle a little visit at the station, process you while you'e there. In the meantime, anything useful you could tell me about what happened with Mechano? What he said and why he might've been shunned?"
  16. Quote:
"Just shut up and surrender your sword, will you?" she quietly snarled... "I hope you know what you're doing," he muttered as he awaited the cuffs.
Finally shimmying his way out of the street pit, the detective took a moment to recompose himself back to style. "Right then" he murmured to the Sergeant, "I'm in no position to criticise your methods but I will say this; those super-powered foreigners, you'll need all the luck you can get re-capturing them. If needed, these two who've cooperated will be in my custody. I'm driving them to City Hall for due processing, then back to the station to file reports on today's incidents."

With that, the detective headed towards his car, beckoning over the temporally displaced unlicensed crime-fighters. "Come along now, we haven't got all day."
  17. Mulligan sighed as things started to get a little out of his control. He looked to those who had trusted in him and offered themselves for arrest. "Don't worry, I won't abandon you. Just stay close to me, I'll get you out of this mess" he reassured them, even as they sat trapped in a road pit. "You know, this kinda thing happens all the time here... Paragon City, home of the brave baby," he laughed madly. "Welcome to our world... hope you enjoy the adventure!"
  18. Quote:
"...you might also notice that the actual perpetrator of the murder with which you accuse them has already fled the scene in plain sight of all your forces. As such... you've no logical reason whatsoever to detain them. I suggest you not try..."
The legal jargon didn't faze the Detective one bit. In fact, he had been fully aware of the three escaping individuals, two of whom had perpetrated the killer's murder, but nothing and nobody could fault him if he pretended he'd not seen them fly off into the night, or sneak off under the monorails. After all, the crazy shotgun killer had not only claimed the lives of nineteen local criminals, seven pedestrians and four drivers, but also six of Mulligan's fellow policemen who'd been his personal friends and colleague. Basta*d got exactly what was coming to him, he thought. It was only a shame that the remaining heroes would have to face the annoying complications of police bureaucracy. But... he had his orders, and chain of command must always be respected.

"With all due respect Mister Crimson Captain, we've been ordered to bring you in, probably just for investigation and proper processing. Nothing to worry about. Please let's just get this over with" he pleaded, gesturing towards his squad car. "I'm sure we all have other things we'd rather be doing later tonight, hmm?"
  19. Quote:
"Basically, most of us here, if not everyone, aren't from this world, okay? Something... happened and we all got dumped into this universe..." / "You even listening to your radio, Mulligan?" he muttered... "This is Captain Belle, to all units in Kings Row. I repeat, those at the killing scene are to be considered armed and dangerous. They are to be detained, asap," came the message again, over the radio.
"Armed and dangerous?" he thought out loud, looking apologetically back to the group of displaced heroes. He didn't dare question an order, but he didn't have to like it. "This here's some bulls*it Sergeant. They're supers! Of course they're armed and dangerous. Dangerous to crazy a*se criminals on a killing spree!"

Pulling out a set of power-dampening handcuffs, the detective proceeded to arrest for detention, the most co-operative of the lot, the lady who'd just explained to him the whole situation. He moved in close and whispered to the group. "Look, just play along for now, please... I got a plan that'll see you properly processed by City Hall you'll be free to stay in our world until Portal Corps can help you get home. I don't want any trouble. I promise we'll get through this peacefully. Are we all agreed? Little pink robot? Car-bot? Mirel?" he asked, offering to hand them the set of cuffs. "Just... take the bracelets, put them on, and have a seat in my squad car over there. Those of you too large for cuffs should follow along with the police escort. We'll be heading to the station in prisoner-escort formation."
  20. Quote:
"...I am Cathak Mirel, and I’m not sure what kind of ID you’re talking about, I only just arrived here, though we are on our way to this City Hall which you’ll be pleased to hear..." / "Detective? Excuse me, sorry, but if you'd kindly give us a few minutes before you start foolishly waving your guns about, I'd be more than happy to explain, in full, the current situation we all seem to have found ourselves in."
The detective, known in his precinct as Detective John Mulligan, turned to follow the people's gaze and noticed his men arming up. "What the hell are you's doing? Put them guns away and back the fu*k up, fool. Jesus, crazy bunch a' rookies" he moaned, turning back to the group. "Same goes for you Missy" he said, addressing the yelling woman. "Now everybody just calm the hell down, alright?" asked the Detective, holding up his palms, notebook and pen still in hand.

"Now, miss Mirel" he continued, turning to the other lady. "All of you... explain this to me clearly. You're all a bunch of foreigners? And you have no registered hero ID's? Which means... you killed a man, a killer himself granted, but you committed murder in our city, under vigilante law? Please tell me I've misunderstood something. Because I'd really hate to have to throw all your a*ses in jail right now. Maximum security prison weren't built to cage heroes, know what I mean?"
  21. Quote:
As the detective approached she gave him a friendly wave, more acknowledging his presence than anything. She didn't say anything, though. She'd stick around just in case, but unless he asked her something she'd just stand around looking increasingly bored.
"Hey there ladies, gents, bots and er... animals?" greeted the detective, looking from the pink assault bot to the dragon, from the shifting racing car robot to the people gathered before him. "So you guys got real messy down here tonight huh? Giant crab robot, crazy half-cocked gunman, we've pulled it all of street cams. Look, off the record, you done this city a great service taking him out, murderous nut killed thirty-six people, before you's got ta him. Most of them harmless. Yeah, blow his fuc**ng head off I say. Anyways, lets do this dance. Names and City Hall hero registration ID cards please. We'll process you with due credit for today's work and see where it goes from there. Unfortunately a couple of you's will see some lock-up time for unlawful violence, destruction of property and murder but we'll get to that. For now let's see some ID. Don't drive, fly or run away now will ya? I really hate having ta chase you capes, know what I mean?"
  22. Although they did cover our location/rental costs last year so perhaps they'd be willing to do so again for future meets, especially if we find a bigger venue, as the event is now growing.
  23. Concerning Ethan and Ildela, I had pretty much figured that much from their clearly unheroic methods. It's to be expected if they did escape/flee the scene.

So despite saving the day, unauthorised use of lethal force, property damage and murder would be punishable by Law. I'll go ahead and play it along this logic.

Found it! Quick note about the RP so far. Seems it's branching out into three paths now; those wanting Pocket D for a cool down, those wanting City Hall for declaration of arrival/legal registration and those wanting Portal Corps to investigate a way back home. Or more likely even, all three. Whatever play people decide for their characters, I'm holding off from playing my hand until it's properly decided. Naturally, some would nervously avoid the approaching police detective and try to escape towards Pocket D/City Hall/Portal Corps, so it's only fair to wait and give others a chance to do just that. Heroes classically flee the scene before cops/press can question them anyway, but hopefully there'll be some of you left behind to have a chat with.

Also, quick question. Obviously for plot purposes but also out of cheer curiosity - putting aside creative licence, what would normally be the legal ramifications, in the United States of America, of a civil servant (registered or otherwise) killing a murderous gunman/terrorist? ...using high-explosives to the face, or not.
