  1. "We will ultimately have to approach Bathory herself won't we? I suggest a peace treaty. I try to avoid using violence so we'll have to find weaknesses in Bathory's court and then exploit it, bypass her guards with minimal effort and little fighting, just to show her that hunters, human or otherwise are certainly not weak and not to be used as bounties. With her defenceless and humiliated, I think she'll back off us. That's my plan. In the meantime, while our friends are doing all that research, we should be doing two things; your killer and my Circle of Thorns problem."

"I suggest we track all your female associates, past and present, their families and their friends" said Pious, evidently doing calculations in his mind. "We observe them and wait for the killer to make his move. Once spotted, we ambush him and slap on the cuffs. Nighthunters number into the fifties and some of us are even Etoile Isles citizens, they'll be more than willing to commit to helping you save your ex-girlfriends. My problem is a little less complicated, we just need a counter-army to battle the Circle of Thorns. Could use the help of your Hyenas... and your contacts within the Corporation."
  2. Priest had accepted the vast differences between him and Big Game and even expected some harsh criticism but insults were something else. Still his hard skin allowed him to shrug off the disrespectful comments and focus on matters at hand.

"I was sorry to hear about the killing of Super Sized Sally and saddened at the news of Father Harrigan's demise" he began, catching the beer bottle and transmogrifying its contents to water with a gentle shake. "As we speak there is a second Circle of Thorns invasion on us Nighthunters occurring in Steel Canyon, much like the one on Moth Cathedral a couple months ago. It has Bathory written all over it. But maybe what occurs in Paragon City doesn't concern you unless its profitable. I'm not one to judge so I won't say you're a selfish, no-good, gunslinger ridding on his last pot of luck, but there has been a string of murders of late... and most of the female victims all have you in common Big Game. It's sad news and as much as I hate to say it, I think your friends and associates have become targets, much as mine were, when stolen by Bathory's demon. I've now given you some very valuable Intel quite freely. My spies here on the Isles led me to this place and I phased in unharmed. My resources are vast as well, if we share, we can do a lot more to win this war on hunters. What's it going to take?"

Sitting in the darkened cabin with his legs crossed, two steel balls rolling in his left palm and facing the door, was the resplendent Reverend Pious Hunter. His supernaturally white shirt matched the glow of his white hair, interrupted only by the slim black tie resting lazily down his front. His smart black trousers seemed to disappear downwards into the darkness, punctuated by the gloss of his leather shoes. The headlights of a passing automobile flashed across the cabin windows, revealing for a moment the shadows of giant ethereal wings clearly cramped in the small room and extending from the priest's shoulders. A perfectly round halo ring responsible for the supernatural glow was also exposed in the passing light. But like the shadows of wings, the halo's shape disappeared, probably to a realm beyond human vision.

"You are the one called Big Game" said the reverend, exiting his seat and offering the career hunter a handshake. "Sorry to have startled you, but by your reactions I assume you also, know who I am. I must however clarify that 'tis not by Hell that I come but in the name of the Heavens."

Hand still outstreched, the priest moved closer to the gun-wielding hunter. "We have a common enemy... so if I may, I suggest we work together."
  4. Game, I see Wraps is back out and about. If its practical plot-wise, could you steer him down to the Jelly Fish Dream for a friendly encounter? It'd help me with that plot development I PM'd you about. If not, then we can just write it in some other way.

"Well then" said the Priest, turning on his heels and heading back to the Lamborghini Diablo. "Sage... don't suppose your car is built for eight giant demons?"
  6. Like everyone else, Pious was captivated by what the Illusionist was doing to the red-skinned white-haired guy and then the sudden reappearance of the demon Sage. All the while, Rachel had snuck past the map-seller and stolen a couple of old scrolls. Calmly she returned to the gathering and unrolled the parchments.

"Hmm" said Rachel, looking over the map. "If this map is anything to go by, our portal might actually have landed this side of the Wall of Dis, somewhere near these burning tombs; hence the fire and the lava and the guardian dragons. If that's the case then this map is not to scale and this Hell realm is a damn great big landscape... planet-size. And if the boy we're looking for is a descendant of an Egyptian goddess, he would be imprisoned in the pagan realm; the first circle... not the fifth. Which means we need to go back on ourselves."

Rachel places the large scroll onto a stone slab and begins running her fingers over it, plotting out a route. "To get to Antonio Gar and his mother and Officer James Neil, I think we will need to do six things; breach the Wall of Dis and its guardians of fallen angels, cross the river Styx and the wrathful sinners, pass the suffering greedy and the demon Plutus, pass the freezing gluttons and the demon Ceberus, fight through the lusters and their violent neverending tornados, then we'll reach the river Acheron and the pagan sinners. Erm... Sage, is that even doable?"

Now looking at that list and those three maps, Pious would've been wrong about the location of Antonio Gar and the children of Bastet. As pagans (non-Abrahamic), they'd be in the first circle. However, Antonio is wrathful so maybe he is in the fifth. Hmm, I see plottage here. Our characters could have differences in opinions, squabbles and what have you.
  8. Heres a popularized theory on the map of Hell that we could use.

    Circles of Hell:

1 - Pagans are imprisoned here and trapped by the river Acheron.

2 - Lusters are imprisoned here and trapped in neverending violent storms.

3 - Gluttons are imprisoned here in vile freezing slush and guarded by the demon Ceberus.

4 - Here the greedy are forced to lift crushing weights and guarded by the demon Plutus.

5 - Here the wrathful are forced to fight each other on the river Styx while the sullen gurgle in it.

6 - Heretics are trapped here in the City of Dis (administrative centre of Hell) and forced into flaming tombs.

7 - Phlegyas: Here the violent, tyrant and murderous are left to burn in a lake of boiling blood.

    - Wastelands: Here the suicides and squanderers are left to wander, surrounded by roads, trees, streams, oil and factories.

    - Fiery Desert: Here the sodomites, blasphemers and usurers (basically the Bank) are left to burn and die, again and again.

8 - Malebolge: Ten ditches where counterfeiters, hypocrites, grafters, seducers, sorcerers and simonists are punished, guarded by the demon Geryon.

9 - Here traitors and betrayers of special relationships (like Judas, Brutus and Satan) are imprisoned in the icy Lake Cocytus.

I don't know about you but I'm looking forward to taking on those infamous demons. Cerberus, Plutus, Malebranche, Geryon and the titular Nasfahtu.
  9. With expert handling of the Lamborghini Diablo, Damsel raced into the City of Dis. She brought her speed down to a cruise at the town centre. Thankfully, the denizens here weren't giant dragons but mainly vampires, werewolves and other humanoid demons. Most of them were going about their ways, dressed in smart suits and wielding leather briefcases. Confined to the alleyways one could just about make out the criminal predators. Screams could be heard are captured souls were maimed and tortured, in the darkness, rapists had their ways with the whores of damnation, pained moans and groans echoing through the nook and cranny of every alley. Now and then the rotten corpses of the dead would limp into the streets, clutching at their broken limbs. Despite the marvel of the tall buildings and the booming business of corporate corruption, the underworld of the City of Dis was clear to see.

The angelic priest held his tongue and forced himself to look away. In a Hell world like this, one must pick his fights and taking on the underworld of the Netherworld was suicide, if ever such a thing was actually possible in this realm. "Rachel, wait" he called out to his wife. "Look! Is that an information kiosk or is that an information kiosk?" he asked, pointing to an information kiosk. Behind the giant sign that read 'information kiosk' stood a map-seller with furry skin and a large pair of bunny ears. "We... you should go talk to him" said Pious, looking at the giant killer rabbit stuffed near the trunk of the car.

A pack of large wolves had crawled out from an underground cave in the greens of Steel Canyon, their leader Wolfman was in human form. His tall and muscled figure was cloaked in a dark cape and masked by a pointy-ear cowl. Before receiving the broadcast over comms, he'd heard it uttered from a distance.

[PCPD] WARNING: Supernatural activity detected in Steel Canyon.

"Great" he growled, looking over the city as fires claimed the smaller buildings. Office lights that would normally be on through the night were going off one after the other, as its inhabitants evacuated. Citizens on the streets had reduced to panicked running, some cowering in fear of the invading demons. "Wolves, this has Thorns written all over it. Let’s get out there and claw 'em to shreds!"

That's a little more plausible. The whole Pious gave it to us free comment totally threw me. At any rate, it’s great that you're running this plot by me (and everyone else) first before taking it further. Government breach and a second 'Moth Cathedral' type Thorns attack? Sure, could be fun. Although unlike the Dark Astoria ghost town, Steel Canyon would likely be swiftly won by the countless 'city' heroes out there. I don't think TRINNITY or the Thorns will last long. Either way, just as Tomb's subplot might bring doom over the vampires, this TRINNITY breach would cast a wide shadow over MAGI's security. So yeah, an OK idea.

"yes Paladin they will" replied Eras "they will see the Nighthunters attacking and i will make sure the magic tracers lead back to their base of operations, so helpful of Pious to freely give away such information" continued Titan, touching a soul gem taken from a previous assault on the Circle of Thorns. As the Helicopter took off, Ionic smiled. With any luck the Circle of Thorns would attack the Nighthunters very soon, and then everything would start to fall into place. As Titan headed toward Steel Canyon, Ionic couldn’t help but wonder how wise it was for the company to send a very thuggish looking brute into the heart of the City of Heroes.
So a team of seven rogues attack the Circle of Thorns, steal their stuff, plant a dead hero in fake Nighthunter garbs and confuse the Thorns into believing Pious and his friends were responsible? Bit long winded but okay, could be a passable plot. But to clarify, it was the Court who uncovered the NH base location. Circle of Thorns don't yet know about it. I don't remember Pious giving away any such Intel either, save MAGI and the FBSA sharing it with other heroes.
  13. The succubus demon stifled a giggle as the demon of the team suddenly became a giant evil-looking bunny rabbit. "So much for a disguise” she muttered, stepping into the driver's seat and working the ignition. Soon as all six of them had squeezed into the beastly vehicle, she floored it. Racing down the dusty tarmac and kicking dirty and exhaust into the group of biker demons. "This aughta be good" she joked, stepping on speed and burning rubber. With an unholy growl, the engine thundered into full power. Shapes along the sides of the road became nothing but a blur of light and colour. Up ahead one could just about make out the tall buildings and skyscrapers; the inner circles of the City of Dis.

  14. Pfft. The rule of science fiction, especially CoX-verse which we cannot control (Devs are the universal plot GM's) the trick is to present the villain's doomsday device and allow that for whatever reason they dont actually get to unleash it. Be that time constraints, financial limitations, unprofitable ends, hero intervention or its only purpose was to hold the world at ransom. In Tomb's case, the vampire world... at ransom. The threat of its potential alone should suffice. Its genius!
  15. Or they could pull a Matrix and farm their own (uninfected) breed of humans. Those dungeons need filling up some.
  16. Well its the single most evil way to achieve genocide; poison or deplete the food source. Its happening in real life with agriculture struggling to meet the demands of a rapidly increasing human population. Scientists have predicted world famine by the end of the century. A desperate rush for food would either usher in world war, as has happened with fuel, or perhaps people will pull together and share peacefully. Either way global epidemics would hit us hard. Great idea CB. Tomb is a genuis for wielding such a virus and I for one feel sorry for the vampire race. I would imagine they'll pay her off while they work out some kind of counteragent. Or a way to take out Tomb and contain her research.

If this gets out, I wonder how my character and other vampire hunters will react...
  17. Real crappy bosh work but you get the message. lol.

  18. LOL. Got a really disturbing picture in my head now. Sorta sounds like the making of a real bad joke.

An ice demon, a succubus, three horned demons and a giant psycho bunny enter a Lamborghini... who takes the wheel?
  19. That suffering vampire has scarred me with some very very disturbing mental images. And you write it so well, I worry about you.

But its good. Anything involving the Court should always be a horror story. The darker the theme the better. Bunch of psycho goths in that Castle.
  20. my computer died again. wont be in-game for another couple hours.

  21. Without a moment wasted, Mike Grayson moved in and slapped the cuffs on the werewolf, emanating the bright light of his teleport as he did so. Seconds later they were both standing in the local RIP police station, with a few dozen monsters howling and gnashing, trying to take a swipe at the private investigator.

"Take a breathmint ya bunch of furry hobos" called Mike, shoving his prisoner over to the gathered Arachnos cops. "You crooked pigs book this one proper, ya hear? His names Silver Wolf or something but you can tag him as Snoopy. He was chasing an illegal bounty."

"This is the thirty-seventh bounty hunter you've dumped on us this week Grayson" replied a cop. "It's getting real cramped in here and trials are slow to a crawl."

"That aint no excuse officer" replied Grayson."Unless of course you're authorising me to use extreme prejudice?"

"Yeah you'd like that wouldn't you? Ya crazy son'oa goat" replied the cop. "Like you don't go around smoking them anyway. Mind telling us what this one did?"

"This fool?" asked Grayson, heading for the door. "He actually tried to whack the Priest"

  22. Hells looked to the priest and whispered a thought over his amulet. The two men exchanged a look. Then the priest rose high and flew off with a sonic boom.

"No hard feelings Snoopy" the detective began. "But you're a killer. That means you'll be wanted by Police, which means I gotta take you in. Boss is gone, come quietly and you get prison time. Resist and you'll spend the rest of your miserable existence eating barbequed turd with the Devil. Cuffs or silver, choose."

Hells knew it would be an insult to harm the bounty hunter any further while in the presence of his pacifist team leader. The best manoeuvre then would be to overpower the wolf quickly and efficiently. As it charged for him claws outstretched, Hells teleported out of the way and reappeared behind the now bleeding werewolf. "Alright cut it out Snoopy" he suggested. "You're already hurt and since I'm not allowed to kill you right now and damn you straight back to hell, I would advise you to stand down and play nice."

Hells pulled out a pair of handcuffs and made to arrest the would-be saint killer. As he did so, he began spewing out his status report as requested. "I been tailing your man past couple weeks boss. There's been a few developments involving Big Game in this 'Open Season' story. I first caught on to Game in St. Martial, during his trip to the Store. That crazy wizkid Tomb runs the joint but my visit wasn't altogether too welcomed. I latched back onto Game's trail after he left. His empty ammo pouches were now filled, sporting various kindsa grenades and other more conventional munitions."

"I followed him back to Darwin's Landing, to a boat I believe he owns. He approached it real cautious like, spent a lot of time staking it out before going in. Clear sign he was expecting or had previously faced trouble there. Some time passed by before I saw any action. Strange looking guy wrapped in rags stepped out and made off into the darkness. I hadn't seen anyone else go in except Game so the natural assumption was, he'd donned a disguise."

"It worked 'cos I eventually lost his trail. I tasked Sister Altair to help me track him down. When I put myself in Game's shoes, it didn't take long to work out where he was heading. But the Bar of the Damned had a number of branches dotted across the Rogue Isles, so we hit every single one. At the last branch I met the Countess's puppy Jack Wolfe. I couldn't pass up the chance to leave him a message for Bathory. Game was there too in his disguise, using a false moniker; Wraps. He left after a couple vampires started getting heated. So I followed."

"Not much else happened for a few days. But Game had gotten wind of the Corporation's arms auction; the Mercenaries Ball on Sharkhead Isle, once held by the Immorality League. I thought the Corporation's stance on the open season was wholly financial and in league with Bathory but I figured Game might reach out to his old allies anyway, so I trailed him. As always, my hunch was true. Game arrived in disguise, a cautious measure that suggests he originally attended to siphon Intel. But during the gathering he announce as Wraps, his intention to hunt Big Game which drew a reaction from Techbot Alpha, the Corporation's sentient artificial intelligence. Another member, Iron Alligator scratched Game's name off the copy of Bathory's bounty posted there. As a detective, I detected this was a sign of at least one Corper either claiming Big Game or not supporting Bathory's bounty."

"After a lengthy discussion with Techbot Alpha, both robot and Big Game or rather 'Wraps' left together and quickly disappeared. I noticed the pair had a brief but casual conversation outside before suddenly drawing weaponry and sneaking off. Techbot went to air and Game followed, stalking something or someone. The two of them together was hard to follow, the trail went cold."

"Today has been a little more frantic, lots of movement here in Saint Martial. I thought I had caught hold of Game's trail in an apartment block not too far from here. Latched onto a clue laying on the floor; one of Big Game's rifles sliced in half. Obviously there'd been a scuffle of some sort. This followed a transmission intercepted by Sister Altair. She identified the owner of the voice as one Sword Runner, member of the Court of the Blood Countess. That right, Silver Wolf? Bathory sent you to ambush the Priest and this Sword Runner to take out Big Game, didn't she?"
