  1. I just typed up a page full of drama. Tried to click post and the little one dropped a mouse on the keyboard that refreshed the screen. Text gone. I'm going to bed for now and will try again in the morning. Sorry to now be holding up the RP.

The thought of all those perished children, young, innocent, bright lives now burnt to ash. The sounds of joyful laughter now turned to painful wails of pain and agony. The poor parents. Proud mothers and fathers now childless, their seeds destroyed long before sown. Their hopes and dreams withered away in the shimmering heat. Pious felt sick. He felt dizzy, nauseous. He began to fall from the sky as he slowly lost focus and then control of his power. With an almighty thud he crashed into the burning school, landing amidst the carcasses of charred children. The sight shocked him back awake. He sprung to his feet and tried to get away but stumbled on some broken bones, slipped on the torn uniforms and fell face first into a pool of boiling red blood. The pain of the heat didn't really register but as he looked on into the blood, his own distorted reflection gazed back at him. The realisation finally dawned on him that this had all happened because of him. Then he began to consider the what ifs. Maybe this great evil would never had come to this school had he not been a part of this war. This never-ending conflict between Good and Evil. What if like the angels or God himself, it was best to simply observe, to not partake or influence the murderous ways of man. Perhaps it was time to quit. What else could be done to save those who aren't in want of it. Sermons of redemption now seem so futile, when the machines of man, and indeed man himself would do -this- to the innocent, all in the name of him, a Priest.

"Why?" he asked, looking across the distance, directly at the monstrous machine. "Why have you done this? QUARE IUGUOLO LIBERI?" he yelled, his voice resounding across the street. "WHY THE CHILDREN? What kind of senseless evil commits this deed most foul? Have your masters no shame? Does your madness know no bounds? Kill me then! Take my soul and let it be done with. Do it! Kill me and put a stop to this all. This war has gone on for long enough and much blood has been shed. I cannot without spiralling into madness myself, have more innocents die, because of my mission. So let it be done with... I quit!"
  3. Is the blood being spouted part of the Antivampire Blood Virus sampled earlier by Tomb? And what -does- happen if it's vaporised into the air? 80% chance of cancer in infected humans? How wide would the infected zone be? Also, I'm now documenting Open Season RP by chapter in an attempt to help keep it listed and organised on Unionwiki. Edit away where needed and join in the effort to tidy it all up if you want. Open Season Chapter 20: Attack on St. John's School.
  4. Pious's medicom activated and he later awoke to find himself mended under the Rikti-tech healing circles in Talos Island hospital. He jumped off the resting bed with a start, flashbacks of his death haunting him. The ordeal of being magically poisoned and shot to death. The punishment endured at the hands of the German supersoldier. The front doors of the clinic flung open as a delirious Pious Hunter rushed out, gasping for air.

"Alright this thing is serious" thought Pious, via his amulet. "From out here it looks like Freedom Corps and the PCPD are already mobilising. I'll try to contact our allies but we'll need a plan. Any ideas?" Pious pulled out his cellphone and dialled the Foundry, Dunelm and Wolves. "This is Pious Hunter please respond."
  5. We're gonna need half the City of Heroes to bring down that modified Giant Monster aren't we? Got our work cut out I reckon. NH, Foundry, Dunelm anyone?

Pious was genuinely shocked to the core of his being at the words he'd heard. Like demons, the exorcism of an angelic spirit was it's greatest weakness. An aura of light shielded the priest from the area of effect explosions and shrapnel but the strength of the attack was too powerful. "Proh renuo" <Ah crap> whispered the priest as his light shields became pummelled by the nukes. He fell to the floor and slowly drifted to unconsciousness.

Television coverage of the incident at Saint John's Catholic School brought the news to the Priest as he sat in his Nighthunter's basement apartment, below the newly named arcane bookshop. He watched on with chilling acceptance of the horror that unfolded before him. This was the world in which he lived. Where men kill one another and machines reduced young children to charcoal, only to stir the attention of an unassuming hero.

Pious rose to his feet with a sigh then exited his room. He made his way to the nearest teleport circles and charmed it to transport him as close to Saint John's as magically possible. With a clear and ready mind, he stepped into the light and disappeared.

In the suburbs near Saint Johns, the figure of Reverend Pious Hunter appeared in the path of the giant robot. His white shirt resplendent in the afternoon light and his black tie fluttering in the heavy winds. News cameras clicked alive, circling the action from afar and looking for a perfect angle to capture the drama.

"Nighthunters stand by" thought Pious, sending a telepathic message to his friends via the Nighthunter's psychic amulet. "There's been an incident at Saint John's Catholic School. Turn on your television sets and see for yourself. I'm at the scene right now and will try to learn the motives of the assailant, then attempt peace talks. For the moment, please just stand by. Violence might provoke him and people will be hurt. Let's see where this takes us. Over and out"

"Alright I'm here!" yelled Pious, loud and clear enough for the news cameras to transmit, even from their safe distance. "You didn't have to level a religious building or murder a school full of children just to call me out you know. I purposely made it known to you crazy villains where I work. Unlike Big Game and the other hunters, I'm not hiding. I have no fear for the Countess or her minions! Machine, man or demon! You cannot kill what has already been killed, for I am the Priest and I am risen. Reborn a prophet, a messenger of the Lord. My holy spirit communes with the angels and for as long as I serve the Most High, my essence cannot be destroyed. Harm this vessel and my spirit shall only return anew. My faith is strong and is to be shared with the world. My destiny cannot be ended by the likes of you or the Countess for I am among the avatars of Light. My existence is paramount to the balance of Good and Evil. So unto thee I say this; thou abomination of the crucifix, your attempt to kill me is futile. Better be it that you seek redemption yourself. Moth Cathedral is right there in the phone book if next time you want a chat. I would gladly give you a healing, for that is what I do. Is redemption not what you want? Then it is what you need."

  9. Damsel and I are planning on coming but she's more likely only to do the meet and greet then shoot off into town with the little one. I'll be bringing my PC too I think. All I have to do now is secure that weekend off work, plan the coach/train routes, book a hotel room and set aside some spending moneys. 'Family weekend in the Midlands' was my winning argument so I'm more likely to be absent in the evenings, which means no night-time gaming for me. Thanks for organising this Kallandra. I missed the Omega Sektor meets so this will be an exciting first and a great opportunity to great you wonderful people in person.

Now to fish out that Priest/Peter ID card Mother's Love made for me.

This had caught the priest by complete surprise. Clearly he didn't have enough of a bond with the Ghost of Death to have foreseen her danger. Three highly ranked Nighthunters had already set out for rescue Jemma Moore, and stupidly it seemed, without a plan. He replied to Morilanthi and acknowledged the warning, then picked up his cellphone and dialled a few of his allies.

He had both the Foundry, Hyenas and Dunelm Group on conference call and waited patiently for either/or Big Game, Leon Tasker and Starjet to answer the call.
  11. Adam Moore has struck the Castle and seems set to fight Bathory in a one-man war to the death. It's all a little unexpected and rather abrupt, but in my opinion, a positive surprise. But at the rate this is going, should we not consider how this second assault on Castle Bathory will impact the overall plot? Game?

Mike Grayson and Altair Stevens had been sent to respond to Rack Up's stress signals picked up on the psychic Nighthunters amulet. The two examined the body and soon determined the cause of death. Mike Grayson produced a cellphone and dialled for the police. The unconscious Council soldiers would be taken in and the crime scene would be analysed by forensics. It was clear a fire fight had broken out between the ex-military Nighthunter and the Council soldiers but something seemed out of place; a strong demonic odour.

"Let's not disturb the crime scene Altair, forensics are on their way" said Michael, ending his call to the police department. He bent low and observed the fallen hero with a short prayer. "You did a great thing today soldier. Rest now and leave the fight to us. May the angels welcome your brave spirit with open arms."
  13. Blade, is it okay if I post a reply to that? Nighthunters should at least come for his body.

  15. The assailant may be stealthed but daggers are usually visible objects. With superspeed and heightened response, a hero could typically save a target from the impact of a thrown knife, but never mind. I don't think its an issue worth a debate and I'd rather we get on with this so I've removed the part about the super soldiers helping Misty. I think its fair to say the sub-plots are done so I'll be leaving now until Liz and Big Game decide when to start the finale, or whatever it is.
  16. Jeez. Well then I've either failed to get my point across with poor choice of words or you've misread my post or both. Easier done then in fewer sentences; the Priest will not fight. He'll let others who can win that fight do the fighting, (in this case the Dunelm Group) otherwise he'll just find a way to avoid it; Jemma.

What I meant is [A couple of the military heroes quickly manoeuvred the road, trying to reach Misty in time to shield her.] So I'll go edit it now so it's clearer. Sorry about the mix up. It is of course, up to you what happens to Misty and if the heroes shield her in time. One has force-fields and the other superspeeds.
  18. Don't worry about it Eleven. Eric and I bicker like this all the time, nothing serious. It's just usually on MSN or via PM's. Maybe we should keep it that way.
  19. Pious watched the theatrical smoke-works and fire-play of the ninja as he fled the scene. Pious knew Adam could easily absorb the impacts of grenades.

"You all did well helping to reclaim Gimry Ridge today" Pious began, addressing the four Nighthunter judicators Blade, Misty, Storm and Suraya, as well as the military heroes he recognise as the newly formed global demon-hunting army regiment, the Priest Corps, made up mostly of his twin brothers. "However" he continued, "I fear this is only the start of a string of possible attacks on the Worn Cover. I wouldn't be too surprised if MAGI decides to have the whole building relocated somewhere less populated. I'd say property damage today alone has crossed the two-million mark. That's unfortunately going to be on us. So what do you say we rejoin Freedom Corps and start cleaning up this mess? We can look into the Circle of Thorns and whoever else is behind this at a later time."
  20. Factor in also the fear most of humanity has over Artificial Intelligence. Even in today's real-world, computers are smarter than us and more capable than us. Would government truly accept to share human rights with Artificial Intelligence, or grant them equal status? I don't know. That's where your imagination comes in and is the beauty of science fiction. I like your idea. Let the AI's go fight for the rights to live! I know my main hero, a Christian, would object to machine gaining power equal to or over man. He makes it his job to go about finding and 'taking care' of these types of 'monsters' among others. Now the machines want to add morality conflicts to his conscience? Yeah, he would be a good adversary for this AI-centric SG.
  21. Edit: Thought I better re-word this now that I'm back from work. Hopefully my point is now a little bit clearer. See Alpha's quote for the original post if you wish.

You confuse me sometimes Liz. You and all these planning. When it comes to Forum RP, some things just happen naturally. Lets talk about the characters Pious and Tower for a moment. Tower is a violent and unstoppable machine made of the strongest metal. Pious is a non-violent angelic spirit with elemental powers. Tower attacking Pious would possibly just result in Tower being teleported away until Dunelm Group can come and deal with it.

It's simple; Pious is a religious pacifist. He would only throw a punch if there was no better/other option. You know that. So he would never truly recognise Tower or any other machine as an actual credible threat when its just a lifeless object, unlike a person (who has human and moral rights). You want to give Priest a real fight? For drama? Or whatever other reason that I don't actually understand? Then maybe pull a Kahn? Back in that fight, Pious had no other choice but to place himself as a shield and try to stop Kahn fulfilling his threat to kill more Longbow.

Even in-game that was a one-way fight for Kahn, he was going to be the one who wins the fight no matter what other power Pious brought to the table. But it could also have been a draw. I could have had Pious use granite armour and keep healing until everyone got bored, or have him use his gravity control skills and teleport/wormhole Kahn until Pious makes a mistake or fails. (This would have been the strategy of choice with Impervium Tower had Jemma not done it first). Anyway, I didn't do that because Pious was psychologically faulted; he knew deep down that he was guilty as charged and deserved every blow he received from Kahn, so he just took it instead of trying to defend himself, or going for a draw.

You say the Impervium Tower plot is a mess but I thought it only just started? You and Eleven planned a big towering fight but it seems to me both the Ghost of Death and the Priest were in no mood to fight anything. Jemma sent the threat away or trapped it somewhere. Problem postponed. And now Dunelm Group are taking steps to 'solve' it. Its not my fault if RP doesn't always play out as you want it to. We all try to stay true to our characters and so they will always do whatever it is that they do, and what Pious does best is peace-talk his enemies to boredom so it's highly unlikely that you'll get a fist-fight out of him.

"This is a place of worship and it has already seen too much of police and the Freedom Corps because of one rampaging machine. The monks here would like to return to normalcy, so why don't I arrange with you a time and place away from here, where we can sit, talk and exchange intelligence. This is after all the City of Heroes, we should of course work together, ultimately to end our common threat. What say you Mister Tasker?" asked Pious, holding out a hand.

"Leon... Tasker" said the Priest. "Thanks for coming Dunelm, but as I told the police and Freedom Corp back-up squads, threat's been contained. I'm a priest and bringing light to the unsaved is my job. But for all my virtues, both demon and man often want me dead. Impervium Tower was sent to kill me, most likely by the Countess Elizabeth Bathory who keeps him, but she inevitably failed as evil always does. I'm sure you'll agree?"
