Old Insidium Mines (D5)
Following the hail of thunder, the area surrounding the mine shafts begins to vibrate, shaking the very earth. With an explosion of rocks and snow, the giant iceball shatters, flinging bits and pieces of frost all over the quarry. Where the snowball had once been lodged now stood four empowered superhumans.
"Well" said Altair, "now we know why it's called Mount Inconvenient" -

Quote:Both the Priest and Maiden of the Layline flapped their wings hard to prevent crashing into the approaching avalanche. "Quickly!" screamed Pious, encouraging the tech-wielding Altair Stevens to work faster through the snow. "Don't worry about digging him out. Use your Firesuit gauntlets and burn through the ice."D7... Underneath it all, mouth, ears, nose and eyes full of snow, Destroyer wondered if punching a mountain wasnt a great idea after all.
"Good idea" said Altair, firing up her heavy tech gloves. "Why didn't I think of that?"
"What do you think caused the avalanche?" the Maiden asked. "Him punching the mountain or that strange piercing screech?"
"I'm not sure Mel but that noise didn't sound very friendly at all" said the Priest, keeping an eye on the large mass of avalanche coming their way.
"Got him!" Altair called having finally melted free the stranger. "Fly us out! Fly us out!"
"I'm on it" said the Priest, flying down to collect them from what was now a puddle of boiling water.
Just then the second wave of avalanche hit, colliding with the group and sending them spiralling down the mountain front in a giant snowball. Falling at almost 200 mph, the snowball rolled out of control, collecting more and more snow until everyone trapped inside was completely swallowed. It reached the warm, lower foot of the mountain, picking up grass, earth and small rocks until it came to a crashing end at the entrance to a mine shaft, blocking the way in.
"Mmffair?"
"Mmff?"
"Mmffood yoo finfy furn faway mmffif mfow?" the Priest muffled.
"You know... you could try thinking through the amulet, Father" Altair replied, communicating through the Nighthunter's Amulet.
"I said, could you kindly burn away this snow?" he repeated. "Please?"

Quote:"Err... Father" Altair called out, riding on the back of the winged angel as they navigated their way through the ice-cold and foggy mountain air.D7. Finally he decided to move, putting one foot at a time down the mountain he intended to climb down, unfortunately after three steps his footing slipped, falling down the side of the mountain, hitting the cliff edges as he fell down.
"Yes?" asked the Priest, turning his head upwards to see Altair.
"There's someone or something falling down the mountain over there."
"Friend or foe?" asked the Priest, still descending.
"Can't tell from up here, it's too foggy"
"Alright I see him" said the Priest. "It does look like he needs help. Let's offer him a hand."
"Right well, let's hope its not a hostile" said Altair as the Priest flew closer to the mountain face, coming in fast to intercept the man's fall. -

The power of the gust of wind left behind in the wake of the Priest's descent cleared a path in the fog for the parachuting Altair Mary Stevens to follow through. The Maiden of the Layline glided gracefully after the holyman and at the sight of approaching rocks, the two flared their wings, breaking their fall. Altair Stevens unclipped her parachute at the last few seconds of descent and allowed it to flutter away down the mountain. The three stood together against the snow, garbed in the black and white Nighthunter's uniform as they set their bearings.
"Alright then Codename" said the Priest, now wrapped up to the neck in sweeping feathered wings. "Do your thing"
"One step ahead of you Father" she replied, staring into the fog. "I've scanned the area in three detailed sweeps and err... we have some good news and some bad news. Good news is, there is something here. Bad news is, its all the way at the foot of the mountain. By the old Insidium mines." -
Yeah looks about right as far as I can tell. Nighthunters have split into teams of two or three to better cover the area.
Tyran's squad - South Jungle/Lagoon search team are assigned to arrive at H8
Miranda's squad - Harbour/Village search team are assigned to arrive at A8
Blade's squad - Town/City search team are assigned to arrive at H4
Damsel's squad - Mines/Plant search team are assigned to arrive at E5 (Carrier Drop)
Pious's squad - North Jungle/Mount Inconvenient search team are at D7 (Carrier Drop) -
Far far up in the Skies
It had been a long trip for the Priest and his team but now they were finally there. The Priest Corps soldiers went round the United States military aircraft-carrier rousing the Nighthunters awake in their seats. "Wake up Reverend" said the flag-wearing soldier Captain Harlem, one of twelve twin brothers to the Priest. "We've arrived at the given coordinates. Freeza says this is as close to Mount Inconvenient as he can get you. We're expecting sub zero, negative thirty on that mountain peak. Fog is pretty dense too... anything you can do about it? Angel of the Lord and all that?"
"Sorry to disappoint you Jo" said the Priest, rising from his seat and stepping up to the edge of the cargo drop. "But even I can't take on fog. You heard the man team, it's going to be ice cold at the drop point so stay close and keep warm. Gear up for the fall Altair, Mel and I will fly down and wait for you at the tip."
"Roger that Father" she replied. "Been living for this very moment so right now, I'm strapped and ready to free-fall baby!"
"Tyran this is Priest to South Jungle/Lagoon team" Pious began as the three of them leapt out from the aircraft. He thought clearly into the arcane amulet's spirit-linked thought network. "Miranda this is Priest to Harbour/Village team, Blade this is Priest to Town/City team, Damsel this is Priest to Mines/Plant team. North Jungle/Mount Inconvenient team is now above location and approaching the drop point. If you can read me, please be careful out there people. We already know this is most likely one very big trap so Priest Corps have agreed to remain stealthed and stationed up here and act as our eyes and ears. Besides that, we have no idea what's waiting for us on this Island. Remember your mission objectives, stay in formation and maintain communications. Do you copy?" -

(Television) "I completely agree" the Reverend began. "This war just seems to continue raging on endlessly like a wildfire. Forever spreading. Burning everything in it's path. Feels like a lifetime but it was only four months ago that the undead declared bounty on hunters. A secret government of the highest calibre of Vampire set about to assassinate every hero thought to be a demon hunter or monster basher. It was a real shock. Of course we hit back and when we did, countless demons were forever banished. Some semblance of peace was once achieved but still the bounties live on.
"It's been six weeks since the terrorist attack on St. Johns Catholic School. The House of Bathory was framed for it but we now have the identity of the true mastermind; a mentally unstable child entrepreneur who goes by the name of Tomb. We think it was all an attempt to invoke fear and hatred of vampires and the undead. Due to some misguided sense of morality, the girl wanted the world to turn on the Blood Countess but her evil plan was foiled. Tomb must be brought in. Especially since declaring her own counter-bounty on the undead. Of course this greatly muddles the waters and complicates everything. There is blood on the streets because of renegade mercenaries making hits on both hunters and monsters in order to cash in big time. Before this, all that concerned us was shielding the hunters from both monster and mercenary attacks. Now it's all up in the air and everyone is at each other's throats. There are no longer any easy way to tell who needs protection and who needs incarceration. The only way out is to find Tomb and stop the counter-bounty and also to convince the Vampire Council that things were better off for them before the Open Season."
Tuesday night, 12th October. The town of Salamanca.
Sharp bursts of panting and heavy breathing echoed through the damp walls of a long alleyway, followed by the noise of bare feet striking the cold cobblestones one after the other. Somebody or something was running. A through-way linked to the alley was quiet and undisturbed for only a moment before a dark figure flitted past. The panting and racing footsteps continued. Hot breath latched onto the cold midnight air forming tiny clouds of mist from the runner's mouth. With bony decomposed arms he reached for his head and unhooked it from its neck, just in time to escape a speeding bullet.
With haste the zombie prey reattached its head, registering the tall heavily-cloaked object now standing in his escape path a little too late. With a bone-crunching smack the fleeing undead collided with the tall figure, rotten flesh and unhinged limbs sprawled helplessly across the floor.
"Put yourself back together son, I'm here to help y-" the tall man began to say, cut short by a hail of bullets to the chest. Shockingly, the figure showed no sign of damage, seemingly having absorbed the impact of the deadly projectiles. The muffled sound of fighting could be heard in the distance before suddenly, a body was flung through the air and sent crashing into the alleyway, skidding to a painful stop at the feet of the tall man. "Get up!" he exclaimed, reaching down to grab the prone figure and lifting him high up onto a nearby wall so that the moonlight illuminated both their faces.
The cloaked man had dark skin and white hair, with a long heavy crucifix necklace dangling from his neck. His face was expressionless but his eyes conveyed great emotion. From the other end of the alleyway came a fourth person. This man was clad in the American flag and wielding a shield emblazoned with stars.
"Please tell me I broke his neck" said the flag-wearer. "I beat him to a pulp then threw him at'you. Som'ins gotta be broken."
"Thanks Captain Harlem, I'll handle this" said the white-haired man, still holding the shooter up. "See to our reanimated friend. His bits are all hanging out."
"Wait a minute... black guy... white hair... you're the Priest! Aren't ya?" the shooter questioned. "Yeah... but why the heck you after me? I'm here to waste this zombie fool, cash me in some easy money. You hunter types know how it is. Mercs, heroes, we on the same side in this thing."
"Wrong" said the Priest. "Because I'm not a killer. That's the difference between you and I... I search out monsters so that I can help them be more human. Truth is... its humans like you that are the real monsters. You're under arrest for pursuing and actualizing an illegal bounty. You have the right to remain silent!" -
Only fifteen minutes into the show and the Priest found himself already swamped by questions on Open Season and the terrorist attack on St. John's.
"I completely agree" the Reverend began. "This war just seems to continue raging on endlessly like a wildfire. Forever spreading. Burning everything in it's path. "I hope that covers most of your questions on this particular topic... were there any others? General questions, personal question, religion-related I don't mind." -
Yeah looks like its forum based. RP of the assault kicks off Wednesday morning.

An internet video streams via YouTube, covered also by some News channels. The backdrop appears to be a Gothic church building in Dark Astoria. The face speaking directly into the camera is recognisable to some as the Reverend Pious Michael Hunter of the Nighthunters hero team.
"I am sure all those involved in this nationwide war have suffered losses. Both the Countess Bathory and her Court, myself and my team have lost friends and families... in this conflict. The great news is that the two of us have managed to set all of that behind us. I ask that you all do the same. Monsters are people too... and people too can be monsters. So let us look beyond our differences and come together this Halloween to do what we all love to do most! Party! Let us embrace the beauty of these wondrous monsters and celebrate the horrors that is the Living Dead!"
The camera zooms in on the preacher and his face slowly begins to decompose. The sounds of howling wolves and maniacal laughter are heard. "Posters are on walls, around the city, in Pocket D and online! Twentieth October!" said the zombie priest. "Come on down and GET YOUR FREAK ON!" -
((Most awesome poster ever, with major serious thanks to @Bunny! Great graphical work B. Read my mind with that Moth Cemetery gate pictured.

Well assuming its forum based. If its an AE mission for all to do then maybe later in the week for me. :/

Quote:With Tomb's counter-bounty now in full motion, mercenaries can play both sides of this age-old hunter/monster conflict. It also gives another talking topic for the Merc Ball on Saturday if it comes up before then.
Kill a hunter for the Council or kill a monster for the Store... or both.
Meanwhile, heroes are out to capture Tomb and villains/vigilante's are out to kill her. And all can come here to get weapons to do so. ¬¬ -

I would imagine the consensus has been shared across all investigative government departments but not sure about media. But word of mouth is uncontrollable.

Quote:^^ We love you really Dev.I could bring some Laser Beam Dinosaurs...if'n yalls don't renege on the open RP part and go boo to players in America again. <_<
The rate this is going, I reckon we could have enough plot for the Halloween Event. If the Council of X know how badly Paragon City and Etoile Isles come under attack during Old Hallow's Eve then they would probably take advantage of this and have the Open Season bounty-on-monster-hunters back up and running in full swing. And with all those undead running around the city, Tomb's counter-bounty on the undead would become very popular I think. ¬¬
Eric when you're ready, if you post the Council/Liz meeting via the main OS thread, then CB can bring Tomb out to play and we can all come join in the funz. -

Gratz to all who were nominated and won a seasonal spotlight! Thanks for doing all the work this time Bunny, great job of it too!
Must update that Nighthunters page with a proper team description and background bio. It's kinda generic at the moment from the pre-establishment days.
And thanks for taking the initiative CD. Looks nice and organised now.
