DP isn't underpowered. Fire Blast is overpowered
But yeah, I seem to remember someone doing the number crunching and finding them to be rather "mid table" when is comes to blasters (though you really have to use Fire rounds all the time), and I'd rate them a higher for defenders (maybe corrs too), due to the secondary effect of chem rounds. AoE -25% dam debuff? Yes please.

While I like both Dark/ and /Dark, I really don't think that putting them together is the best idea: there's too much overlap (particularly with THDebuff and Healing). Dark Miasma goes much better with Ice (AoE damage and controls) or Sonic (which, being the ST king for defenders, goes well with everything), or maybe even DP (to capitalise on the insane amounts of AoE -dam), while Dark Blast goes much better with a set like Traps, Storm or Cold, which lack a self heal, and can take more advantage of the debuffs (as well as all 3 liking the immobilise of TT). Storm in particular has great synergy with Dark Pit and Thunderclap giving you a Mag 4 AoE stun (thats enough to lockdown anything shy of an EB...)

Quote:And you still won't have nearly enough endWidow's don't get End management? Thier base recovery is higher than the standard due to Conditioning. That means Stamina, Miracle and Numina are boosting a higher base number. Right now Miracle and Numina are easier to get than ever with a-merits and Stamina isn't even going to take a power slot soon.

Quote:It also has crap damage enhancement (~70%). Fortunata ranged attacks aren't outstanding to begin with, so you want to get to ED levels of damage. If you want recharge, go for Decimation.'cause KCrash is a 7.5% recharge and Fortunata don't really need much Defense slotting. IIRC, with perma ML and well-slotted defenses, they don't need set bonuses to softcap melee/ranged/aoe.
Also, perma-ML ain't cheap (it's not stupidly expensive either, but it costs a fair bit), so TStrikes are a great choice for softcapping a budget build. -
Regarding Aid Self, I've found it pretty useful when soloing, but much less so on a team. So, if your playstyle involves a fiar bit of the former, go for it. If not, then there's probably better options.
-
AAO too - the increase works off base damage, of which a scrapper has a lot more than a brute. Fire Melee is a little stronger on brutes due to the DoT not benefiting from criticals. Both are going to be damn good though, so it really come down to which mechanic you like more.

Quote:lolpvp, besides, melee Forts can do everything a NW can, plus moreeh, melee forts may be awesome for PvE, but ranged forts are pure aweosme in PvP, plus who doesnt want a tank mage? (if your gonna roll a melee fort, might as well go night widow IMO)
(actually, you should play whatever is fun for you to play)
-
Ironically, as the chains LuxunS posted demonstrate, Soho's Fort is "gimped" by taking ranged attacks instead of melee ones...
-
I quite often think up a good name, and just have to create a character that I have no real intention of playing. I try to find appropriate powersets for them though.

Quote:Idiots. Cysts are the main reason to team with Khelds (well, apart from the fact that they're damn good to have along anyway...). More enemies means more funthat's my first concern with the new tf's and the Alpha slot as my main char is a WS and sometimes some people don't feel like teaming with a WS (trying to avoid the cysts)

Quote:I prefer "Clawtunata"Heh, would you call that a Clawfort, like a Guncrab?
I've often figured that would be a fun route to go, even though it's not represented in the NPC roster. (NPC Fortunatas have no melee attacks at all, and say so in their help text)
But yeah, it's probably my most fun character. Essentially, I'm only very marginally less damaging than a NW (going by LuxunS' chains here, a NW would be ~4% better at ST DPS, and against large groups I'm actually probably better AoE), but I've got several control powers to play around with (Dom, Conf and AoC), plus a mini-nuke in the form of Psi Wail. I have thrown a fair bit of inf at her (enough to perma ML and Hasten...), but IMO, it's definitely been worth it -
Quote:Heh, my Fort is basically a Claw/SR scrapper with nice helpings of controls and team buffs on the side. I started with the ranged attacks, but I eventually came to the conclusion that the melee ones just kill stuff faster.Fortunatas are a mix of Mind control trollers, and psychic blast blasters.
With quite a bit of buffs...that are unique to us, but uhm....so maybe a Troller-Blaster-Defender-Tank.
I say tank because, the way mine is slotted, He's able to swoop in and do alot of damage, very fast, but his defenses are so high that nothing really hits him much. -
[QUOTE=KowaiKawaii;3262799]Quote:SameAs far as the multiple dancing swords go, and if it also becomes a player available temp power, then I will say this much:
I am the bone of my sword
Steel is my body and fire is my blood
I have created over a thousand blades
Unknock to death
Nor known to life
Have withstood pain to create many weapons
Yet these hands will never hold anything
So as I pray; UNLIMITED BLADE WORKS
I was thinking the same thing!
Damn that was such a good film. GARcher is awesome -
I would lean more towards a Scrapper than a Brute. Kinetic Melee relies on significant +dam buffs, which are more effective on Scrappers due to their higher base damage.

Yeah. And frankly, you can never underestimate humanity's ability to buy crap...
-
Quote:Again, why is it retarded? Unpleasant, sure, but retarded? Nah. This guy's job is to make as much money for his company as possible. And this will make money as, frankly, there are plenty of people dumb enough to buy this crap. So it's a pretty clever idea.Ok at first I thought he meant, making movies from the game engine as seperate stories and sell them. Now I'm beginning to see he means its basically the game without the game. So you sit through the pre-rendered cutscenes without any interaction.
Which is actually a far more retarded idea than I first thought. -
Quote:While I don't like him, I'd hardly call him a retard. In fact, this looks like a pretty sensible decision. Activision aren't going to have to put much money into it, and I'm pretty sure some people will buy it, so they profit. And given that that is the entire point of a company, how is this stupid?Fan made > Activi$ion ******** any day
this type of stupid $$ making scheme is typical of that retard Bobby Kodick after seeing the success of fanmade machinma and lets plays.
I'd love to see him try to sue artists so no fan made creations are allow to be made from Activisions' games video clips/images, and you can only "buy" them from his company. -
Quote:I can't say much about Earth, other than the fact that it has crap loads of control (Hehe, pretty much what I thought then.
I'm so far planning to only use ranged attacks: Blaze, FBlast, Fossilize for single targets and Fire Breath, Fire Ball and Rain of Fire for AoEs. For control, well, I'll probably cycle the following combos as needed: Stalagmites + Cages (most probably QS here, too), EQ + Quicksand, Gasses + Cages (again, QS is likely). Should have one of those available at every spawn even before getting my hands on IOs, I think.
With Consume and Domination, I don't think I'll need Stamina even before IOs which isn't bad news.
Now to whip up a build...), but from the /Fire POV, I'd really suggest you take the melee attacks too. Incinerate is a good attack, and without it you're lacking a decent attack chain, while Combustion, though not stellar, is a solid AoE, particularly seeing as Fireball and RoF are only available post-40. Earth's control means melee should be totally safe, so there's really no reason not to
Also, I wouldn't rely on Consume. The recharge is too long for it to be a stamina substitute. Indeed, after Blazing Bolt, it'd be the second /Fire power I'd skip. -
Mainly I've just done minor tweaks to the colours rather than totally repurposing, but I've got a Fire/Rad corr recoloured as sand powers. Looks pretty good, particularly the rad debuffs.
If VEATs ever got weapon customisation, then my Fort would get the Vanguard claws coloured pinky-purple to represent psionic blades. -
How about a Fortunata? They benefit greatly from the recharge boost found in purples due to wanting perma-Mind Link (as well as the general benefits fo high recharge), and there's plenty of different types of powers to put purples in: Melee Damage, Ranged Damage, PBAoE, TAoE, Hold, Confuse and Stun (plus whatever the patron pools might add, I forget as all I take is Gloom
)

Oooh...Divine Wars was awesome, so I can't wait...Oh f***. It's on one of those stupid US only sites isn't it?
edit: I should actually read the article properly, for one it seems like it's not. Woohoo. -
Quote:I think you mean GMs. AV's regen isn't that high, (~90HPPS IIRC), which blasters and dominators can overcome quite easily through raw damage.the reason mental manip blasters can solo AVs is because of the -regen that drain psyche has
the only way you could prolly have a chance at soloing an AV is to take psi assault for the drain psyche to debuff the AVs regen
For soloing AVs, going by the numbers (ie, I've not actually tried this), the best dom is probably Fire/Fire if you're willing to invest a lot on inf in the character. The ST hold has a low enough activation time to be able to be stacked high enough to overcome the PtoD and Imps and Hotfeet add a nice chunk of damage, while /Fire is the most damaging secondary out there. That said, you're going to have to get up close and personal to do this properly - Incinerate and Hotfeet are a significant chunk of your damage, though I supect you could still do it from a distance, just not as quickly.
Mind/Earth would probably be a cheaper option. Dominate is the same as Fire's ST hold, while Mind is relatively cheap to perma. Earth has good ST damage, and SS is another hold to help stack up to the PtoD level. Again though, it's definately a melee character. -
Quote:And it's not even all primary set controls either - Ice doesn't get it on AA, Elec doesn't get it on several of it's powers...One important point on Domination, it is only your primary set controls. Never any secondary powers, never pools, never temps.
And there was much wailing and gnashing of teeth.
