The dev response (scroll down to OfficerZap) on the purple recipes with merit rewards was given before.
I read Synapse's answer as that it would be possible to have purple recipes purchased by merits, but the merit price is beyond any current merit rewards for a given TF, which would include STF and LRSF (Masters too) or even a Hami raid. Thus, adding them as a different reward to merits seems very unlikely. Will they change? I guess we will see.
For me, at least, I would not agree with the OP since I feel that purple recipes: 1) can be obtained by any one defeating any high level mobs; and 2) the TFs would be farmed for purples and diminish their "ultra-rare" status.
Additionally, I don't consider STF or LRSF challenging enough to warrant purples as rewards. I have been on these power teams for TFs such as a MSTF run in 43 min. And a MLRSF with a permadom that sleeps the heroes making the run incredibly easy. People would figure out these right combos and run the STF/LRSF at regular intervals for the purple rewards. -
Not sure I will be there due to the 3 day weekend. Otherwise, if I am, up for anything.

Congratulations on the new joy! I hope all of you are well and resting!

Good fun last night. Dang Masque your widow is hard to hit. I was laughing at my miss, miss, miss at you while you were slashing me down to the ground.
Just a quick question, but are there ever any zone events? I understand Arena and controlling powers, teams, quick respawn, etc. But wondered what a big massive fight in a zone like RV would be like. -

Mmm, interesting thoughts, but a bit way too self serving, I think
[/ QUOTE ]
Okay...
[ QUOTE ]
Lets start with the if Defenders were to self buff, that would be way too unbalanced, but buffing a tank would not result in an over balance as well? Or that is ok, its ok for my tank to be over balanced, but no way would be fair if you benefited from your power!
[/ QUOTE ]
Applying CM (a buff last time I checked) to a tank doesn't do a whole lot in practically 99+% of the game - a notable time to use CM, of course, is GW in the STF. I have yet to meet an emp that can fort/CM/AB an entire team at once. That means only selected toons will get the buffs at any given time. Plus add in the fact you are buffing to make up the difference in your damage out put and possibly being affected by status effect. Another example, an emp def/blaster duo. The blaster all buffed up is a killing machine while the emp def could be held or stun for a time. The blaster damage output made up the difference. This is known as "balance".
[ QUOTE ]
Since buffs are basically multiplier of the base ability, Defenders attacks are the weakest in the game. So if we were to multiply this comical effectiveness, we would unbalance the game, right? but when we buff the Scraper who has incredible DPS, oh that would not result with over balance, right? Its aweful for a Defender damage of 1 being upgraded to a 2, but its perfectly fine taking the Scrapers damage of 4 and upgrading it to 8, that makes perfect sense?
[/ QUOTE ]
Yes. Proof you say? How about this? Where are all the other AT MSTF's? Maybe they were done some time ago and lost in the purge. I am willing to bet there has been all controller MSTF's too, just haven't seen a pic/post of it. Defenders when grouped together are wickedly powerful by multiplying their "comical" effectiveness.
[ QUOTE ]
Oh I see a poster saying there are 2 combos of defenders choices which has reasonable defense against status effects, what are you implaying, that because there is an exception, therefore there is no problem? What point are you trying to make?
[/ QUOTE ]
Diversity. Let's all be emps? But I want a rad or kin def. Why must they all be the same? Dark is great for debuffing, so is rad - but *differently*. So there is no problem. Each def brings something to the table for a team to handle different situations.
[ QUOTE ]
A Defender, even an emp defender, can do ok in very special situations, but with far more care and attention than any other AT. I have an EMP/PSI Defedner and I can solo, but I have to play far more carefully than when on any of my melee ATs, and it takes me much longer for there is a huge list of what not to do, and what you have to do, just to survive; a list practically un-existent for melee. So I find my poor defender experiencing much greater risk than the melees, and receiving the same reward as melees do while experiencing no harrasment nor risk, where is the justice in this?
[/ QUOTE ]
Okay simple example. I have 50 DM/regen scrapper and 50 grav/FF controller. I pick up Carnie paper missions to defeat boss for each of them in PI set to diff 5.
Mission type 1 - Has DRM boss at end. Scrapper faceplants in seconds due to end drain effects of the debuff. Controller yawns another mission done.
Mission type 2 - Has MI boss at end. Scrapper yawns another mission done. Controller faceplants due to multiple pets summoned by MI and overcomes her single pet.
Both faced the same risk for the same reward, but had difficulty depending on the mob. My emp/psi def doesn't stand much of a chance against Carnies. Other mobs, not much an issue. If I had emp/dark, would it be problem against Carnies? What then about CoT?
As noted above, some ATs/powers are more *favorable" for soloing vs. other ATs/powers. But all can solo.
[ QUOTE ]
While Umbral is correct, this was a post for a new power pool, it was for a power pool that would provide for the dev binary use of status effects, which is an over burdened weakness to the non-melee and have most devastating effects on the Defender. Ergo the reson I brought in the Defender plea. I think perhaps a fair correction would be, since the melee were given good range attacks through the epics, a major departure from the original power set dogma, then the support should also receive a similarly effective upgrade in their defenses. In the case of the Defender, they can buy damage resistance through their epics, why not do the job correctly as opposed to half made, and provide through this armor power set in each epic pool a MAG 4 status effect protection. Once more MAG 4 is not invulnerability, the MAG 12 of the Tanker is much closer to that.

I disagree that it is not an overburden weakness.
Here are some of my 50's:
emp/psi def, kin/arch def, D3 def
fire/rad corr, ice/cold corr, son/kin corr, dark/therm corr
So I have experience with ATs that don't have status protection. They solo or team just fine. Some are better at soloing (ice/cold corr or D3 def) than others (dark/therm corr or emp/psi def). It is part of the diversity of the game.
One last point on balance. In short, the devs could easily give def (or other ATs) status protection/resistance/mitigation. If everyone has status protection/resistance/mitigation, then may be mobs will be tweaked to still give challenge. Otherwise, what is the point of status effects if they don't do anything to any player? -

Hopefully there is more to it than just power customization.

I hope so too, but I think it is hard to tell what content is. From the posts from BABs, it seemed a really huge deal to do. So if I16 is PC and pretty much PC, then people may say there is no content. But they could have used the resources of 3 issues to get PC to work or just found a nifty trick, which I doubt.
Hopefully some new S/TFs - in particular red side (reside?) SFs/trials - will get added or some nice arcs.
-
I am so confused now. I guess I16 is not the Going Rogue people are talking about: link
Looks interesting! -
I got 25 scrapper for Hess (as I recall it is 25+). Otherwise, will bring something.
Will see what people are up for afterwards. -

Just sharing some thoughts...
I thought an all blaster ITF was done at some point. If not, I would imagine it working since the nictus can be taken out at range (I know Satanic Hamster has ran all the blue side TFs except STF as all blaster and also have experienced all blaster LGTF).
Another ITF I was on was had a tank, some brutes and scrappers and me on my /kin corruptor. As I recalled, we did finish the ITF in about 1.5 to 1.75 hrs, which isn't bad. So debuffing is nice and makes it easier, but makes me wonder if an all melee ITF is possible.
And I was on an all MM ITF some time ago. As expected the first few missions weren't an issue. But in the last mission, it was the Nictus, in particular the autohit one that just wiped the pets out and then us afterwards. We spent a lot (and I mean a lot) of time on Rommie and the Nictus, trying out different attacks. We ended up using our few ranged attacks to whittle down each Nictus. Once they were gone, Rommie dropped with almost no effort. I would assume other strategies have been worked out since then to beat the Nictus and Rommie.
I would like to see some of those All ITFs, and if I am lucky will watch for them on the channels if you are recruiting. My problem is that I will be unlikely on by 8 PM. Oh well. -
ImpulseKing, thanks so much for the answers. Much appreciated!

Grats! All Defender STFs are fun to do because they're just so different compared to normal runs.
[ QUOTE ]
So, how the heck did you deal with that munchkin, Ghost Widow?
[/ QUOTE ]
Surviving her hold wouldn't be too much of an issue with their team makeup. They have a very significant amount of -dmg (rad, kin, cold?) combined with ~50% res (if they're all close together), not to mention enough def to floor her (cold, ff). Killing her wouldn't be a problem either with 4 large regen debuffs, tons of +dmg (rad, kin), and 120-160% res debuffs. I'd wager she melted pretty dang easily. (If they stayed at range, she wouldn't even be using Dark Regen.)
[/ QUOTE ]
Yeah, I would agree. With enough debuff, GW isn't much of an issue. When I ran the Darkstorm STF (6 dark def and 2 storm def), we just beat on her. She would hold us, but with the debuffing and heals going off, she barely hurt us. Heck, the other 3 patrons were pulled at once and we took them down at the same time. -
Grats to you all. I have been on a few all def STF's and they are very fun.

[ QUOTE ]
Yes, I know about holds and other powers, why are you telling me? Those powers are working as intended and doing their job for support just as well as KB does. That is my point.
[/ QUOTE ]
The post I replied to said, other players shouldn't beable to nerf other players form of control (KB).
I was just saying, they already do.
[/ QUOTE ]
And I know about other powers. If a group is held, why would I bother try and knock them back? So nothing to nerf.
KB can be used when they aren't held or controlled in some other fashion. -

What about an ITF with my /storm MM? Hear of those roof tops by any chance?
[/ QUOTE ]
Oh I can picture that now: Cimerorans flying off the edges of the roofs, pets taking suicide-dives going after them, chaos and annoyance for everyone else reigning supreme.
[ QUOTE ]
My 50 grav/ff conroller (any KB, cage, repel, wormhole there?) will hold down the KB if needed.
[/ QUOTE ]
You dual-box to mitigate your KB issues? Nice. We need more people to do this.
/endsarcasm
[/ QUOTE ]
Nope, don't dual. Nope, no chaos or annoyance on ITFs.
The OP will go no where. Definitely plan on that. No sarcasm needed. -

Taunt having -KB? Plan. Definitely.
[/ QUOTE ]
My melee toons - scrapper, tank, brute, stalker, widow (all 50's) - don't have problems when others use KB. Mobs still get defeated and we complete what we are doing.
What about an ITF with my /storm MM? Hear of those roof tops by any chance? Completed, no issues...
Or, like others have mentioned, the OP can get a player with a hold or something else like will reduce the KB. My 50 grav/ff conroller (any KB, cage, repel, wormhole there?) will hold down the KB if needed.
Unless it is shown to be broken in that teams can't complete the content with KB present, there isn't any reason to change. KB is a support power.
Plan definitely not.
