Castle has posted on this here.
I would hate to see it made an AOE since it is not supposed to be a team buff. It is a situational buff. Additionally, if AOE like the auras, then the caster would be affected, which is not going to happen - an emp with status protection! Might as well make all the other powers AOEs.
As for the rooting, again it is a situational buff. You have to make a choice when to use it. I have been playing an emp since the day I started over 5 years ago and don't have an issue with it.
This game is already easy enough. This suggestion would just make it way more so. -
Ditto with Voo and Muon with DWD slotting. Great set for fluffy.

Don't let them get you down MG! I am with you too on gaming schedule.
This is the first week in over a month that I have had time to play a bit more often. Between a new position at work and end of year deadlines and holidays/family visits (add in my kids having more and more stuff to do and starting to stay up later), game time has become a rarity. I am beginning to have a slight worry that I won't be able to enjoy GR that much. -
Tokyo, you may want to read this current thread in relation to your suggestion.

Quote:I've said a few times before (example) and PM'd a redname - Rikti O's!
And if people have too many Vanguard merits? Costumes aren't the solution. More and more exotic Vanguard temporary powers, or even accolades, are the answer.
As for the account-wide unlocking and stating only my opinion (so won't re-open the debate), I would prefer that doesn't happen. For my example, I earned the merits on my widow "the old fashion way" via numerous street sweeps, misions, raids, and LGTF. She spent many hours taking down Rikti and is swimming in merits. On the other hand, my dark/therm corr has done the LGTF once and apart from that, has only done the VG intro to get the badge - no other VG content. It is hard for me to answer why my corruptor should get open access to the costumes when she didn't do anything to earn those costumes.
For the OP, I wouldn't mind seeing a reduction in those prices to make them easier. -
For me, it says they are focused on us rather than how much they can make off of us.
I am pretty sure they could make all kinds of microtransaction deals and get that quick burst of cash. But that is not what keeps a company going. It is the long term, sustained income through player loyalty. It also gives players something to look forward on.
I see too much "I want it NOW!" attitudes (like with the market).
Every player will get a vet reward as long as they keep the account active. Yes, we all have RL to deal with and players come and go on how much they can keep the account active. But a player has to ask what really is important - RL item like food/rent/etc. or getting some vet reward - and put it in perspective. It is a game to have fun, and the vet rewards are there when you get to them. -
Okay, I will toss out a question to help me understand your point of view.
Could you come up with 2 builds of the same AT prim/sec, one with the vet reward, one without, and highlight the differences either by set such as taking another power to let you slot an IO set for bonus, or by the difference in the choice - like swapping PS for hasten?
I will also add that I have yet to ever see one power difference that can cover PvP against a blaster, vs. a dom, vs. an MM, vs. a def, vs. a stalker, vs. a VEAT, vs. etc... If this is just to fit in PS, then that is not the best support for this kind of change and the can of worms that will follow.
Edit - I see that EmpireForgotten posted a similar question while I typed this one. -
Quote:Well, was going to reply. But after these bits from Lothic, I feels this trumps anything I would have said. Good reply Lothic!
... People would scream bloody murder if only "some" Vet awards were purchasable that way and not others.
Basically there is no middle ground with this. ... -
I would not like to see this happen. I have PvP'd zone and arena, and about to hit the 66 month badge.
My reasons are:
1) To some, money is a "zero" issue with them. This will allow some new players to get something right off the bat that 60 month vets paid via their loyalty for 60 months.
2) And related to #1, again, some players with bigger wallets get an advantage in PvP over players that can't afford to do this and have to wait 60 months.
3) Tight builds come with tough decisions. In related threads, this is like some suggestions that want to allow more than the 4 pool choice limit and so forth, so players can cherry pick the powers to maximize their builds. This just makes this process easier. If a player is loosing because of one power, then that player should reconsider his build.
4) As much as people solo, PvP is team based. You build a team to fill the holes. You are short one power, get a team mate that can cover you on it. -
Quote:Then go play another AT and stop posting about defenders. Having 3 at 50 and leveling a 4th now and planning a 5th, playing a defender is fun.
The point here isn't to make the Defender solo as well as a Scrapper, but to make him more balanced. As it is, playing a Defender is often not any fun at all, and in the end that's what we're here for. I'm just looking for a way to make the power set more fun (by making it more capable in solo situations).
Defenders are balanced in what they do for teams. Does my 50 DM/regen scrapper or 50 claws/WP scrapper bring to the same amount of buffing/debuffing as my 50 emp/psi, 50 D3, 50 kin/arch, and soon to be 50 cold/ice defenders?
I will say two things again like I said in some older threads. First, what defenders may not have solo is more than made up in what they do for teams.
And second, in every AT, there is a spectrum of powers. Some synergrize very well, some don't. Take my ice/ice tank compared to a fire, stone, or invul tank. Which solo's better? If I went ice/EM, would my soloing be completely different? Is that a fault of my primary or my secondary? I have 4 50 corr's. My fire/rad blows through mobs as does my ice/cold and son/kin corr's. But my dark/therm corr was hard to solo, but shined greatly on teams. Problem with /therm or that I picked a primary that didn't go with /therm? What would have happened if I went dark/dark instead? -
Quote:Oh, I know. My DB/nin stalker use to be my "farm" toon until I leveled a Widow. I was commenting more on the perception that stalkers get.
(Also, as far as the stalker - they *do* do more than one thing with the AS, by fearing enemies around a successful strike, lowering the return attack.) -
Quote:Just FYI, but DR in PVE has been discussed before: linkI'm going by what Castle stated, not what he or I meant. He said It can be implemented but it's unlikely.
That settles the argument for me.
Sounds like they were thinking of GR back then on certain encounters. -
Quote:For me, it leads to ATs not being played or avoided by teams.
For no good reason.
Why invite that emp def when we can invite an /emp contr?
We don't need that /PD MM when we can get a /PD corr.
There are already enough threads about the death of defenders or tanks or whatever when GR comes out because the other side's AT will be available.
Why get a stone tank when a stone brute gives better damage?
Forget that stalker, we want a scrapper that will live longer or a blaster with AOEs and not be a one-trick toon.
And so on...
Giving an AT something unique in a powerset(s) will continue the incentive for people to keep playing that AT. An MM is a great example since their primaries can't be ported to any other AT. I have 2 at 50 and will consider a 3rd for GR. They being different makes want to come back again for that AT. -
Quote:Most definitely agreed here. Especially since a lot of these contacts have been given out by earlier contact that completely trust you. The TF contacts should be a little earlier too - a little more urgency here if your TF is saving the city from some great threat.
*Blueside Contacts really should give out thier cell numbers a bit earlier.

Have fun on the auction! Sounds like a great event.
(Sorry, won't be able to see it since will be picking family up at the airport.) -

Pretty nice overall.
And my widow without any travel powers now moves at 71.47 mph. Oh yeah... -

Not for this option too.
I gave a reply to a thread here, posted a couple of months ago (the previous game was DDO also). I am linking so the OP can see additional comments on the subject. -

Welcome to the game!
I like corruptors too and have 4 currently at 50:
ice/cold
fire/rad
son/kin
dark/therm
Overall in my experience, only my dark/therm was hard to solo since therm is primarily a buffing set and that dark/ didn't have the damage output like the other sets.
Of the other 3, I still consider, again in my experience, my ice/cold the most powerful since she has more ways to control mobs (holds/KD/slows).
But the other two are very powerful and synergize greatly for very nice damage output. The only issue I had with my fire/rad was late game with the greater amount of mezzers and that rad was offensive toggles. So unless I prepared correctly, my toggles would drop. My ice/cold would hold the mezzer and didn't have to worry about them as much.
Anyhow, I have fun with all my corruptors. If I may make a suggestion and you are going /rad, you may want to consider ice/ and use some coloring to match them up. The ice/ provides some options for control and you can stop some of the mobs from putting status effect on you and keep your rad toggles up. -
Welcome back.
Agreeing with Scootertwo that people can get out of Mercy/PO quickly. But there is still plenty going on. Just checking these forums, there is stuff posted quite often.
Also, the global channels Victory Forum (PM a mod to be unsilenced after joining) and Victory Badges 2009 (Victory Badges is still full AFAIK) are good to join if you are looking for other players. Always people advertising S/TFs or teams. -
