The game has changed (like tweaks to END for sets) and offers many more tools (like combining inspir/IOs/etc.) as well as patrol XP and the XP leveling changes to make it go faster. This game is already easy enough.
So we struggle a little early on. Look at what toons can do later. It's really not that big a deal. -
Eh, never seen an issue with this so-called gulch. I can't see how it is broken or being crippled or whatever you are trying to get at.
I bring more blues (combine inspriations) or drop my vet pet or take on mobs more slowly and rest more often; or even adjust miss difficulty.; or team with a kin or a team in general and XP faster? With the bonuses to XP at those levels and patrol XP, you can get by them fast enough. The game offers ways to "fix" this. If you choose to not use them, it isn't a game issue.
14-20 is a relatively short period in my toon's life. -

Edit - Forgot to add, why not stop here? I can think of other sets where I want some other bonus, but still want to keep the IO set bonuses. They do it for this set and suddenly players will want changes all over to min/max their frankenslotting builds.
I get the impression this is going to turn into a KB/KD discussion all over again. -

I wish I could continue, but Tuesdays are looking if-y for me starting in March. They use to be my best time to play.
If you do get a group going then and need an extra or have room, just send a tell. Between my Mar/Apr schedule and trips planned in June/July, I won't be free until later this summer. -

So what is the issue being addressed?
It is constantly mentioned the game is balanced around SOs.
IOs are optional, let alone IO sets with bonuses. If I am reading this right, you want the bonuses of an IO set, but not what else the IOs also bring, KB in this case.
Don't you think that this was taken into account when the set was designed with its bonuses to make them attractive/desirable? -

Would tankers complain that they want to solo faster now too? Or Khelds?
And lastly, what would a player sacrifice for this increased soloing speed unless they are implying this would be a free buff based on no data/proof/etc.? -

Not all ATs can solo AVs either. So defenders are like other ATs. If a defender can take EBs down, what challenge is 3 mins or 2 mins/1 Lt.? Just what difficulty are you talking here? I solo with one of my MM's at +4/8. But my scrapper was +2/4. Just where on the scale are we for defenders? Again, asking for some numbers here.

What is the base line here - scrapper speed? Blaster speed? Controller? Another AT? What about after GR - should we adjust to MM, stalker, dom, VEAT speeds? Please shine some light on what soloing speed is.
What about power sets - fire/kin contr vs grav/ff? DM/regen scrapper vs. spines/WP scrapper?
And so what on speed. Say it takes 100 hr (*made up number*) for a scrapper to solo to 50. And a defender takes 120 hr or even 150 hr. What difference does it make? -

So, until something is done to improve the ability of defenders to solo I will pretty much continue on as I have - avoiding defenders blueside and when GR comes out I will bring my corruptors over and laugh at the poor defenders who are begging for groups. (ok ok - a bit of hyperbole there as I don't really wish anyone bad luck with the game and I hope for the sake of those who love the current defenders that they don't get the short end of the stick after GR comes out - but the way some of you fight ANY change to defenders drives me a little crazy).
Can players use tools in the game to improve their solo efficiency? Yes
Are there ATs that can solo more efficiently? Yes
Do you have information on what solo speed and efficiency are supposed to be?
The sky is not falling for defenders after GR.
When people like the devs say that defenders are the most balanced AT, just what data/proof/etc. is there to show they need to be changed? And if they are changed, at what cost to maintain balance? Or are you saying the devs will give a free buff to the AT?
To clarify my position, I love defenders and what they do for teams. I will posts against ideas like this if it means nerfing the greatest part of being a defender - their contributions to a team. I am aware of their sacrifice soloing, but I work within the game (temps/IOs/etc.) to make soloing better. -

You can:
1) Roll an AT suited for soloing (aka Scrapper) instead of a rolling a team-based AT
2) Roll a synergizing combo (like dark/dark or kin/son)
3) Use dual builds to remove ally only powers, increase attacks, and slot attacks more heavily
4) Take power pools
5) Slot IOs, in particular sets
6) Adjust mission difficulties so you don't have to fight Bosses or AVs
7) Get temps like Shivans and WB Nukes
8) Log off the toon and build up Patrol XP
If you are choosing not to use the tools the game gives you, you can always team. This is an MMO and, although solo-FRIENDLY, it is not solo-REQUIRED.
Also, if you asking for speeding up soloing, how fast?
Same as a stone/stone tank in granite form?
As fast as a grav/FF controller with out a pet?
A spines/regen scrapper?
Where are you drawing the line here?
There is even a post of a video showing a defender soloing an orange con EB. If that solo defender can solo an EB, what are mins, Lts, or even bosses? -

I wouldn't call it weird. For one, this could be like a little getaway for Posi, where he can have fun messing around and designing new content - away from all the big decision kind of stuff. Maybe when he is done, they will switch around again. Or he could move on to another game entirely and he is hanging around to help WW transition. All kinds of thoughts.
MG - I would think there would never be a true "end game" for an MMO game. The devs got to keep making something to keep us coming back. GR could be the first parts of the end game to build on.
