  1. From my experience with corrs (50 ice/cold, 50 fire/rad, 50 son/kin, 50 dark/therm, and 30 DP/traps), corruptors are great all-around ATs. For me, fire/rad was an awesome combo that brought a lot for solo and teams. You really can't go wrong with those two sets since /rad is so nasty and fire just brings the damage you want to pair with it.

But _Krom_ hit the nail on the head in that is it fun? Toons like corruptors can be very frustrating in that some things like status effects can take the fun away from some players. Corruptors can do so much, but one hold or whatever can make things go bad very quickly. So if you are expecting to steamroll group after group without stopping like how some other ATs can, this may not be the AT for you.

(IME, I am sure there are corr's out there that steamroll, but consider those more specific builds rather than generic slotted builds.)

Although I am in the camp that rest rech should be reduced/eliminated, has it come up ever in discussions or a red name that the reason it has a recharge is to force to use END management?

In other words, if we could rest quickly between fights, then we would learn to just burn END every fight, rest, burn END, rest and never really plan out how to manage our END.
  4. Trying again to form a team and attempt the MLGTF badge. I want to form up Friday 11 Jun at 930PM EST.

I will be on my emp def (Beej). My global name is the same as my forum handle.

Okay, we got in order of posting:
    1. Me (Beej / emp def)
    2. Necrotech Master (MM)
    3. Nericus (blaster or dom)
    4. Vanum (any AT)
    5. Spiderdragon (blaster / tentative)
    6. Shamster (glares at him)
    7. Jade Claw (scrapper)
    8. Gristlebone (any AT)

Voo on deck as first alt. ohloh, 2nd alt. And Thessalia 3rd alt.

I plan to start recruiting at LG no later 920PM and start at 930PM. I do not plan to restart if some one shows up after 930PM and we have filled.

    Grab some EoE's if possible.

    General plan was the following:
Miss 1 - Work our way to Penny, but clear the room only and don't free her until we are ready. I don't want the clocks getting a free shot to end the run early. Probably could even pull the mobs out of the room so that we don't hit the generators. For the AV, wait for the team to be together before rushing or someone will die about a half second later from his psi AOE.

Miss 2 - I don't see an issue until the 3rd and 4th ones. Again, broken record, if we stick close and go at the same time, should be straight forward.

Miss 3 - We will discuss how to proceed then. No issues except the AV and his mega AOEs to avoid.

Miss 4 - I like this mission, but could use some help calling out targets. Pulling Rikti and then to Mitos/Pylons followed by Hami.

Miss 5 - I guess if possible, stealth down if people want to avoid fighting, otherwise, just fight our way down. Pulling the AVs will be critical since that ramp area will too much of a mess and an easy spot to die. Once the AVs are out, AS A TEAM, lets take out the generators. I don't want someone to split off and die.

While he gets the first 3 months of Tier 1, 2, and 3 at this point, they do not have the rest of the tier 1 and 2 vet rewards. So only the veterans would have the entire tier. So when Year 18 comes along and some one joins, they would have 6 years till the get the entire tier 1, 2, 3, and 4 tier rewards.

Its just an idea, and I think this one in particular would be a great idea, as it would make the 3 month mark eventually have a free booster pack just for playing for no additional work than what they are doing already.

Yeah, it might not be a veteran system any more past 6-11.75 years of play. But the amount of content and free stuff provided could be a great incentive to have new players stick around, as they would get a lot of new material. Perhaps this is not a good idea, which I am fine with, but I look forward to the new booster packs to come instead.
Okay, this is confusing me even more. I feel you keep coming back to option #2 here, but I am not getting it.

We have a system where every 3 months of active account, you get a reward. Doesn't matter when you started. Always the same.

This tier system looks overly complicated for some boxing shorts or an unreliable pet that dies in 0.5 sec each combat.

Could you please elaborate what is keeping players at 11.75 years? In other words, would such a system keep incenting players to stay that long in comparison to new content like S/TFs, ATs, powersets, etc.?

I think this is where we differ. I consider vet rewards "fluff". Don't need them to play. I actually like the booster pack items more than vet rewards.

To be an incentive, then they will have to be greater than what they are now. (aka "I really, really, really want that X power or I can't play the game at all!).

What really matters (to me) is the game content. If GR is awful, and the end game requires you to run 50 person raids for 12 hrs a day or whatever, then, for me, I will quit no matter what incentive they add.

No clue, but what does that have to do with this game? GR around the corner. End Game has been mentioned. I see no indication of "closed doors" any time soon. If a game is crashing, it won't matter what they do for vet rewards since it won't be around.

I am not ignoring or missing, I just think that it might be good to make them into both a reward and incentive. No, but as stated above, how long do we expect it to last really?
It has been mentioned before, but who are these players that play games for vet rewards? If the rest of the game is horrible, then no amount of vet rewards will make up for that.
  9. You mean Speed Boost?

IMO, I buff as the team needs it. I don't wait for asking or thank you's. If a player doesn't want it and tells me, I won't give it to them.

I'll just comment here. Would you like to explain this lack of hope thing? Every single player that keeps their account active gets a vet reward every 3 months. Unless you can show the game is shutting down, every player will get their vet reward at the time specified.

Vet rewards are Thank you, not incentives. You seem to be ignoring or missing that for some reason. They could take all vet rewards out today and people will still play this game. Do you have proof the game will shut down if they did that?

PS - Like I said before since you seem to be hammering this out - read the OP and don't agree with any of it.

Thanks Des. We had storms into our area too. I was thinking I may get kicked also.
  12. On the bandwagon and /signed too!
  13. Thanks all that joined up. As Hamster mentioned, it was a little bloody, but I had a lot of fun and hope the rest of you did. Because we went longer than expected, I didn't get the respec off. Oh well.

I want to try to set up another go at a Masters run hopefully next week.
  14. Awesome KT. Forming up in a couple of minutes.
  15. Will add to check your server forum too for the global channels. For Victory, we have a post that has been stickied listing them and they get used a lot for teaming purposes like TFs or running missions.

    PS - Welcome back!
  16. Sounds good guys. Running at the higher for the XP (although I will be on a 50). So bring anything 35+ for the ITF.

I will run the respec if time/interest afterwards since it is usually very quick.
  17. Hey all,

Didn't think I was going to be on tonight, so didn't plan for a master LGTF or BSF.

Anyhow, it appears I have some time after all. Need some cash red side, so going to run an ITF with diff bumped slightly up and defeating mobs (aka non-speed).

Depending on time afterwards, will run 44+ red side respec, defeat all (usually about 30 to 45 min depending on team).

So if any interested, I will start forming around 9 PM EST at Imp in Cim.

Vet rewards are NOT incentives - please get that straight! They are THANK YOU's for staying around. Nothing more.

A game could have all the little prizes/rewards for continual membership. But if the game is bad with its content, community, nerfs, etc., no amount of "Vet" rewards will retain those players.

    First, yes, read the OP.

Second, as mentioned, Vet rewards are NOT about money - they are a thank you to keeping an account active.

Third, I am curious what data you have that allowing Vet rewards would amplify continual membership. You mean all those things like new content, new additions (like PC for example), new sets, etc. are less than Vet rewards in retaining players? For myself only, I played before Vet rewards, and the Vet rewards could be removed tomorrow and I would STILL play.

Yeah, agree 100% that red side this seems to fit well.

For blue side, it could be like when the civilians are walking around and saying things such as "I heard so-and-so defeated that big boss!", the contact could say "I have been hearing a lot about you on the streets lately, and I impressed. I think you might the right person for a job I have." (aka click inf button at that point).

    Same feelings here.

It is like he stumbled on some deep secret problem of the game that the combined experience of the other fourm posters have missed all these years and through all the ATs and powersets. When asked for specifics or given advise/solutions/workarounds, the threads end up like this one.

Hehe, only adding to the suggestion as an alternative to missions - and it could be relatively small like 100 inf at lvl5 whereas lvl40 would be 10000.

Otherwise, why not just run the papers/mayhem if the contact is going to have you run missions to unlock? Using inf to me was no different when we used it to adjust difficulty or at the tailor.

No way to know for certain. Past history indicates devs have posted in this forum, so they may read it on occasion.

Best bet would be to PM a dev with a link to the suggestion and include in detail the suggestion (including feedback that modified it.).

    Walk to Contacts

All in all, I like this suggestion since I prefer certain contacts/arcs over others, especially for red side if we don't want to run the paper/mayhems to open a contact.

Since I still feel we could use some sinks still for inf., I would suggest a slight change to your idea in that, instead of running a special mission, we could get an option use our inf and open the contact. This would scale up for levels (very small early to much larger later on). In other words, we influence with our "influence" to get a contact to give missions.
