Bringing my controller redside, soon. Other than that, I like my blue toons blue.
For red toons, for "balance" my dom to blue and maybe my stalker. And one of my MM's so I can be ready for Hamster's all MM activities - which I hope is NOT soon since it is going to be a while before I can do all this switching around business...
...plus a boatload of respecs with the new powers. And play my new Praets... I need 30 hr days. -
Quote:Hang in there a bit longer Alien, they know (thread). Hopefully now that GR is starting to sail, some new attention will be made. Not sure if they have made a decision on the EAT powers though, no posts I can find on that.Every time someone complains about PPP customization or access to more APPs, a Kheldian somewhere dies a little inside.
"Alien"
And all for more P/APP's. -
I would read through the current guide: here.
It explains the system, which you may or may not know, but also alignment further down and what happens to your toons. -
Gives hope I will see this. Envisioned a long ordeal both to set up and run. Will watch for future runs.
-
I haven't experienced it yet (crossing fingers).
But have been on plenty of teams with other MMs and saw it happen. I was even on one of my MM's last night doing some missions to convert to blue side and didn't have any issues. I hope they track down what the issue is since it appears very frustrating. -
I'll only chime in for #4 in the OP. Psylenz did a great job summarizing.
My DS/dark MM is my 3rd MM to 50, after a bots/storm and thugs/PD. And for the DS primary, I had to pay attention a lot more to binds and controlling pets. This was something that caught me off gaurd from my previous 2 MM's. The biggest offenders IME was the cold tier 1 and the hellfire tier 2. They scattered practically every spawn of mobs and I had to pull them back in constantly or they would just get killed. Psylenz answered why that cold tier 1 runs off so fast. I assume the tier 2 has some cycling issue too.
And second, I admit another new learning point was that dark has the aoe heal the other 2 with ST heals. I thought I was use to this since I have a D3 defender. I had to move around more to make sure in range (and fluffy helped tremendously later on). -
Grrr, was going to run a Manti tonight too. Oh well, off to the new toon!

Quote:Yup, as expected, backpedaling. It wasn't me really......apparently I need to include a sarcasm tag. I'll remember this for future conversations.
Quote:My post had the result I desired, aside from the ad hominem attacks. I really don't care about anything else.
I wanted my post to be within their database. I have no idea if they'll ever search it, but now it's capable of being searched, when before it was not.
Quote:I 'post no data' on confirmation bias because I'm quite unsure people would be able to relate it to noticing misses more. The actual number of misses is irrelevant, the problem is the remembering, The fix is to offer token damage instead of a miss.
Quote:This pair of sentences... you realize that you've just complained that the game doesn't exist yet, and then decided that nonetheless my suggestion would break it?
Quote:I know they won't change the mechanics now, that was never really an option... but perhaps a dev will read this thread, and CoH2 will make different choices? I want the idea to be easily available to a dev, on the off chance it makes a difference in the future.
And the second is to the OP:
Quote:Why not change the game a bit? -
Quote:You brought it up...backpedaling now?Yes, imagine me being silly enough to equate number of posts to time spent on the forums!
Quote:Ohnoes, expecting someone to understand that there's a high likelihood that someone with less than 100 posts might not really browse the forums that much! I really should know better than to have such high expectations, as SwellGuy has so deftly proven.
Quote:With enough viewpoints, all problems will be found eventually.

All you claim is some tank talking about missing - what? CoT? Malta? Carnies? Normal content or AE content?
Was he debuffed at the time?
Levels?
How is he slotted - TOs, DOs, SOs, HOs, IOs? 1 dam or 1 rech, 3dam/1acc/1rech/1end red, etc.? Was it unslotted brawl?
You give nothing. Yet you expect the devs to make some change to a game that doesn't even exist yet.
Yeah, you don't post a lot, but could you have like skipped one mission in the game and spent a few minutes looking up information and preparing for such a game-breaking modification in hitting mobs? -
Quote:For me, my rule of thumb for posting is to not state things like "simple" or such unless I know. Post how you want, but you may get called on it.How could I possibly know how much work it would take? I would assume it would be less than creating the whole MMO from scratch, though I could be wrong even about that. I'm not one of the devs here, I have no idea how hard their work is.
Quote:I don't read the forums that often, I prefer to actually play the game instead. I don't have the tens of thousands of posts that other people do, and I don't keep up to date on all the neat ideas here... I just posted it because it was bothering me. Poorly constructed or not, this thread did turn up some interesting ideas, so I consider it a success.
You don't have to keep up, just use that little search thingy on the forums or possibly spend a few minutes learning about it. -
Quote:Then get some real data with the combat logs. Look at the number of mobs slaughtered by the team and add up the total number of misses. Then start a discussion on missing minions. So what we miss once in a while, imagine all the defeated mobs players generate a day across all servers.Just a discussion I had with a team a while ago. The tank was complaining about missing minions, and how in the comic books, heroes never miss. Missing just doesn't feel 'super', really. I started thinking about it, and it has a lot of merit... why did the game get built in the first place to support missing anything but special enemies? How could it have been done better?

Quote:Mr_Right covers the point well. You are unprepared and your OP is unrefined. Actually looking at other threads will give you the other "viewpoints" like in:I've found Leo_G's and Umbral's inputs to be immensely productive.
Out of curiousity, why is 'just another thread' a bad thing? Is there some limited resource at play in this forum that I'm unaware of?
Quote:With enough viewpoints, all problems will be found eventually.
If you are not going to be bothered by actually reading previous threads, then don't expect to have wonderful and delightful discussions on a poorly constucted OP.
Plus you add things like "simple" or a "bit", without defining them. 1 day of work? 2 new zones of work? Just words it seems to you.
And, there is no resource issue, but do we need another vehicle travel power, world PvP/duel, AT respec, etc. thread? -
Quote:Having a productive discussion requires some preparation and the right information. As pointed out, other threads have recently discussed this. You make no mention or attempt to add in points from past discussions, just another thread.Sometimes having a discussion is the best way to fix a bad or incomplete idea. With enough viewpoints, all problems will be found eventually.
That way things like:
Quote:To be a little less facetious, though... really, is there a problem with players never missing? Ignore the EBs and AVs for now.
Additionally, you post:
Quote:Why not change the game a bit?
Maybe leave minions, lieutenants, and bosses with the normal rules, but change EBs and AVs to also never miss?
The simple way to fix that problem is to let some enemies still keep the normal settings.
After 6+ years of this game, you want the fighting mechanics just overhauled like that? -
Quote:Lol! I do the same thing. I refuse to repeat powersets, no matter how tempting. I have broken it once with my ice/cold corr in that I made "twin" sister that was good (cold/ice def) since I loved playing my ice/cold corr so much. I guess very soon I can have them on the same side, but which...3. I won't repeat a power set within the same AT. At one point I didn't want to repeat power sets at all but that didn't last long. I may end up having to break this hough as I find I am running out of secondaries.
I am running out of powersets now too. So probably going to break the rule more often, especially if they ever port over dark blast to blasters.
Only other rule I make is that for all red side toons, I have to finish the Patron arcs and defeat LR. I don't know why, but I feel my toons are unfinished until I deliver that broken helment to LR at the end.
That's about it! :P -

Quote:No. You should be in legitimate danger in every single fight, Boss/EB/AV or not. Though you really shouldn't be expected (unless you're solo and using a team-oriented power set like you are) to have to use a tray full of inspirations to get through regular fights.
Really, go to -1/x1 and turn off Bosses. You don't lose much XP (at least at L20 and beyond) for the -1, though you do for the lack of Bosses. Or team more, as your secondaries (Thermal & Pain) are demanding.
This is a good summary. I love corruptors and played a number of them since they are fun. I am about to ding my 5th to 50 (DP/traps) and she is a blast - no pun intended!
I look for synergies too. Corruptors can do incredible things.
You talk about frustrations, but that is not how I view them. For example, my son/kin corr solo'd all of her patron arcs until the final mission again LR (EB settings since she is not IO'd out). And I had LR down to a sliver of health before getting defeated (bah! I had to grab a friend real fast and finish him off.). Anyhow, what I consider my weakest corruptor (dark/therm) can solo missions, just takes longer.
As for team supporting power sets, that is their balance. You don't get a whole out of them solo, but boost teams greatly. -
Quote:I agree it would get annoying. And this would get overly complicated. If I came up to a door that was only openable by a SS user when there was clearly some way my character would be able to get through that the game won't let me use, I'd be pretty annoyed.
Don't get me wrong, I'm all for more interactive enviroments and so forth, but don't limit them to certain powersets in any way.
The example of healing NPCs - what are my kin and dark toons to do if all the mobs are defeated? They can heal right? Does the medicine pool count?
Or using electrical powers to recstart something - ranged, melee, armors? What about Mu Mastery?
I would like to see more environmental interactions, but more flexibility. Smashing a vault door with my SS toon is great, but my DB, ice, fire, psi, etc. toons should also be able too within reason. -
Quote:Going with the others and saying you are not alone in this feeling. Early on I tried it in this game and in other games. Always negative experiences, especially the one time I got screamed at by this one guy for using a power at the wrong time in a mission. We still finished it and no one died and it was no big deal, but he wouldn't stop the complaining. As of now, I have to say that my experience with Ventrilo has been overwhelmingly negative.
Anyhow, I hear the stories too of close friends and how much more fun it is to use Vent (or equivalent). More power to them, but I don't see myself ever using it in the future. -
I was always under the impression that the reason we can't have more that 1 auto powers is that this was designed on purpose - in other words, not an oversight or mistake by the devs. If they wanted us to use multiauto powers, we could chain our powers to do so.
IMO, making auto rage, indom will, and hasten is not different from someone multiboxing a bot emp def that autos hasten, the auras, AB, CM, and Fort with autofollow on. -
Quote:Yet another missing thread? Didn't we just a couple in the last couple of weeks?Missing isn't fun, and everyone hates it when they miss after eating a yellow or using a build-up.
I must have missed a patch or something since the game I play is ridiculously easy. You miss once in a while, it's all a perception thing - you remember missing that big attack on a lowly min or a box or whatever. You don't remember the countless mobs you defeated before that. -
Thanks for the info and I will read through the guides. Yeah, playstyle is pretty skewed to a type that buffs/debuffs, sorta like def's & corr's, and MM's secondaries and probably why I would make a controller over a dom lol!
-
Congrats! That is an achievement!
I only have 1 dom at 50, whereas I am about to have my 5th corr at 50, my 3rd MM to 50, and already have 4 def at 50. I just can't get into it, and not considering any more attempts with the new set except maybe as a controller.
Can I ask your secret for this AT? -
Thanks ransim. That give me much more hope on this trial.
