OK, seems that Statesman knows that bases aren't as popular as he wanted. The situation is simple, what you have is maybe 1 or a few people designing the base. It becomes exactly what they'd want for a personal corner of the CoX universe and then everyone else in the SG simply gets to borrow it. So you have a whole SG paying for someone elses dream.

If you wanted a comparason, its like placing a maintainence cost on your costume. However 3 other players on the game cannot choose what they're character looks like as they are only allowed to look like you. On top of that fact you and these other 3 people have to keep playing the game in a state which brings them some personal loss in order to maintain their costume or have it revert to something generic.

Thats the problem. Bases aren't actually for every player, they're for those who start SGs and have admin rights.

The solution is simple. Personal player housing through SG bases.

The concept is that you're allowed to have a personal plot starting with a 4x4 room however in order to own that plot you need to join an SG. Once you join one the SG will have either doors or portals which you can enter to walk into your personal plot or other players personal plots. Inside a plot the owners has almost complete access to what the base designer tool offers but only in that room. They can make it look anyway they want and because its isolated from the main base it doesn't have to clash with the SG base's design. Prestige is generated almost as normal with one exception - all prestige goes right into a personal bank account. You can then choose to donate an amount to the SG or use it on your personal plot.

To keep things interesting though the player cannot add any functional items to their personal plot. No telepads, no medibay, no work stations. These are SG base only items. Additionally if the rent isn't maintained on the SG base as a whole then when the base shuts down the personal plots are shut down as well meaning its in everyones best interests to keep the prestige donations coming.

This idea solves both problems in one go. Everyone gets a 'base' that they can expand and develop for themselves which others can wander into any time you allow them in for a look plus you have the need to join an SG base and need to develop an SG base which provides a unified goal to the members.

    Thoughts?

    [/ QUOTE ]

First thought is that people wanting to make things for their rooms are dependant on 1 or 2 people making work tables. As has been said in another group some SGs don't maintain worktables so that none "admin rights" players can't put personal items in the base.
Maybe a personal space would come with a built-in worktable.... and things made would not be able to be taken out of the room... and nothing functional could be made. Just decorative.

I think personal apartments should be:

Free upon joining or creating a Supergroup

An empty, fully customizable Oversight Room (50,000 value)

Situated in the free dormitory wing that all bases would have. This dormitory area is nonraidable, can't contain items of power, and is farking huge enough for 75 3x3 apartments and corridors to walk between them.

If it's not too much trouble to code, "portable." They're tied to the character, not the group, and if you change groups, it gets plugged into an available slot in the new group's base. Members with base editing privileges can move, but not edit or delete the room. The owner of the room can delete, edit or recreate it.

The dormitory would be accessible from the base by a door or elevator, and would exist on a separate plot. Ideally the plot would be in the same instance as the common area, like multi-level missions, but that might create unacceptable load times for someone in a 75-player group that just wants to use the common area but has to load 75 uniquely decorated apartments.

Problem: Several players drop tier-3 workbenches in their rooms, completely draining the entire base of prestige, control and power.
Solution: Each apartment is responsible for its own power and control. As for Prestige, maybe the rooms have separate accounts for that, too, equal to 20,000 plus the member's earnings.

Problem: The dormitory plot has to be laid out by someone. Someone has to lay corridors to the rooms and decorate those corridors. What if someone with base ediing permission completely fills the dormitory level so nobody can drop an apartment into it?
Solution: Limit the plot so some areas are zoned as 'corridor space' and some are 'apartment space.'
Better solution: Discuss it with your group. If they won't make room for your pad, you can look for a new group.
  2. Although I normally don't agree with Brillig, it was pretty obvious that all the advice about not wasting time disagreeing with teammates or stating your opinion was just smoke. The real point of the OP was the list of ways to annoy teammates, the valid reasons not to, and the unsupported claim of bogosity. It was nothing but a thinly veiled attempt to start an argument about buffing.
  3. For a while, lapel emblems on female Jackets tops didn't track the body scale sliders correctly. They over-tracked, disappearing into small chests and hanging off huge ones. That bug is fixed, yay. It's not perfect, but it's much better.
  4. Jay is sexy.
The nifty new Trenchcoats appear to take two colors on the tail, but only the first color affects the outer, and the lining remains black. The second color should be the lining color.
  5. If a key is assigned to +down by default, you shoud set that key to nop or to something else before you assign any other key to +down.
  6. I'm not sure, but maybe it would fix it to put the binds in binds.txt in an order that removes each action that conflicts from a key you don't use it with before assigning it to one you do use it with.
For example, if 'back' is generating the error when you assign it to D, assign 'left' to S before assigning 'back' to D.
    It might look something like

    LEFT +turnleft
    RIGHT +turnright
    A +up
    S +left
    D +backward
    F +right

Or whatever the actual assignments you want are. Tweak the order of key assignment rather than doing them alphabetically.

I'd also rename it default.txt so it doesn't get overwritten since you've had to adjust it by hand.
  7. I think these may have been posted before... Skirts disappear in water. I think some boots do too. I'm only seeing it happen on Test (pre-rollback), not Live.

Skirts no longer accept some Bikini bottoms under them. It's been like that since I7, I think. It's more serious now that the skirts are water-soluble, because you can see the bottoms.

Every time I take my character with Miniskirt 2 to the tailor, he wants to charge me to change to Miniskirt 1. That's been happening since I7, too. Making some change to the costume that leaves Mini 2 doesn't cook it in, either; next time I visit he's after me to change the skirt again.

    Jay is sexy.
  8. Jay is sexy. The Physique slider dislocates female characters' ankles. I find it most visible with Tech Banded boots, but the geometry problem is the same for any boots.
  9. Yeah, it was the numpad decimal. I picked that because I knew my current character didn't have anything useful bound to that key.
  10. This example worked for me just now: /bind decimal "say <color = #000000><bgcolor = #ffffff>Blah blah"

this one is with the chest slider going towards the busty side and any Chest Detail set to Over. They are consumed by the expanding bust, thus being unable to be seen, They need to follow the bust as it expands, just as belts follow the hips as the slider is moved in and out.

    [/ QUOTE ]
This problem looks to have been fixed, but the solution is still off. When the chest slider is at default size, lapel emblems look normal. Now when you adjust the chest size up and down, the chest emblem over-tracks the slider, hanging off the chest at maximum size, and clipping into the jacket when the chest size is reduced. Jay is sexy.
  12. Actually 3 numbers were added, so Burkholder's Bane is 307 and Geas is 574.
  13. Not easily - the right button isn't programmed to be used in combination the way the control, shift, and alt buttons are. If you're crazy, you could have the right button load a keybind file from disk when pressed, and reload the original file when released. I don't know if you'd find that to your liking, though. It might be prone to error in the chaos of battle.

    Example:
    Create the following files:
    C:\turn.txt:

    rbutton "+$$bindloadfile c:\strafe.txt"
    a +left
    d +right

    C:\strafe.txt:

    rbutton "+$$bindloadfile c:\turn.txt"
    a +turnleft
    d +turnright

Remove any extra keybinds that turn or strafe, because you may get an error that a command is restricted to two keybinds. Then enter the command /bindloadfile c:\turn.txt

For what it's worth, I always bind the right button to nop (no operation) as part of my setup for new characters, after right-clicking a teammate in battle and kicking teammate or whatever once too often. I think it was kicking myself from the Hess taskforce right before the last mission that did it for me.
  14. This should do what you're looking for.

    loader.txt:

    V "+$$bindloadfile .\volatile.txt"

    volatile.txt:

    V "+$$em alakazamreact$$bindloadfile .\loader.txt"
    - other binds -

    Initialize it with:

    /bindloadfile .\loader.txt

Press V, and the current volatile.txt is loaded. Release V, and you perform an emote and reset V to what it was. This is working for me in game right now.
  15. You can only select them with /settitle.

  18. Taser - When I was a newb, I had the same reaction. I have to be in melee to use this? Ew! Today, it's a staple power for my Blaster. Enhanced, Taser can make minions, lieutenants, and sometimes even bosses stagger around looking stupid for quite a long time, usually the rest of their lives. It can effectively keep one foe out of the fight, too.

I wish Traps had the same power. If you're a Blaster, you might be able to blast down an enemy that insists on meleeing you, but an unprepared MM or Corrupter might well lose too much health or get disoriented first.

  23. As of the current patch, once you clear the bank and get Mission Complete, you no longer get bonus time for breaking stuff. I was sure that you used to be able to break stuff to gain time to do side missions, regardless of whether the main heist was complete. Now, you have to commit all your mayhem ahead of time.

Why is running amok any less distracting to the authorities when the goal you're trying to conceal is a pawn shop instead of a bank?
  24. The letter I logo also appears as a blank, bright white silhouette.
