Quote:I fully reccomend Ragnarok: Chance for Knockdown, in Crushing Field. Since Gravity is one of the only sets to have a spammable AoE Immobilize without knockback protection, it works wonders.Plus slotting it in Taunt for tankers (and brutes) turns Taunt into a spammable AoE attack which costs no endurance
Ive also put a couple of Procs in my Grav/Storm AoE immobilise for fun. One is the damage Trap of the Hunter and the other is the chance to hold Gravitational Anchor one. Those with Accuracy and Endurance Reduction turn that attack into something very spammable to! -
You guys ever thought about forming a team together? ;-)

Okay, I am getting sick and tired of forgetting to use my accolade powers. I got them all a while back and rarely make the most out of them, which is shocking considering I recently found out they are effected by my global recharge.
Of course, the situation got a bit complicated because when I turned Villain, I got al the villain equivalents.
So was wondering if anyone knew of a formula that could, for example, bind both Megalomaniac and Vanguard Medal to say, the letter Q?
All help is greatly appreciated, thank you. :-) -
Putting the chance for smashing damage epic hold proc in Dominate was probably the best thing I ever did for Peacemoon.
I am now working out my new build, which will easily contain an Apoclapyse chance for damage in mesmerize.
Can't wait. :-) -
Quote:Yeah I did this on a recent Fire/. I think Local just means that it is a bit sketchy until Hot Feet is properly slotted, and Char and Ring of Fire aren't great attacks either. New player would probably struggle a lot until SO's.Erm, Fire slow to level initially?
It depends (much like Mind I guess). If you're soloing and leveraging the new Spawn Size diff settings to make lots of weak enemies Fire can be very quick indeed from about level 8 or 10 with Air Sup, Cages and Hotfeet.
You do need to get into the "Eat Insps like candy" mentality though and rely on them continually cascading out of your defeats. -
Just to add, I think people who are exploiting it to get all the 7 day badges straight away are doing themselves a diservice. Of course I am a slow plodder, I am sitting quite happily as a villain for now earning all the villain side content. I know the other ones will come in due time. :-)

You can earn them instantly by switching builds. I did /bug it as soon as it happened to me.

Quote:This is not a criticism really Local Man, but everytime you say Mind solos slowly at high level compared to others, it makes me wish I could upload some videos and give you examples of the great killing speed of Mind and how wrong you are. Then again, it also makes me doubt myself and wonder if its purely because my character is super slotted.(Soloing a Mind controller in upper levels becomes slow compared to other controllers.)
Still, I think of Mesmerize, Leviate, Dominate, Terrify and your AoE APP of choice slotted for damage really will give a lot of the other control sets a huge run for their money. Especially depending on what secondary you choose.
Compared to Ice, Earth and Electric I personally think Mind is still far superior even with pets included.
Compared to Gravity I think Mind still has the edge even with singularity. Propel is a long activation (although good damage). Lift is low damage compared to Levitate. Crush takes 9s to deal its damage unlike Mind's powers which are all instant damage and no DoT. So it doesnt have the smooth attack chain that Mind offers, and it doesn't have an AoE attack like Terrify before APP's.
Plant I don't really have the experience to say as I played Plant as Dom, which isn't a fair comparison, but it will seem to rely much more on confuse damage.
Illusion and Fire I will give you, although Mind does outperform them at low level.
Why I keep making this point is I honestly feel because Mind does not have a pet there is a stigma which in my experience is unjustified. Having played the set aslong as I have maybe I am just able to leverage it in ways people new to it simply cannot.
Anyway again this is not a criticism, I am just wondering why I have such a great experience soloing with Mind at both high and low level, but it never seems to reflect on the forums. -
I would love if we could have this feature as an optional filter mechanism so that we can exclude categories that we don't want to track. For example day jobs and accolades. Still, it is a great start. :-)

Quote:I think you are seriously wrong here.Edited:
Before some of you say something about AoE holds being 240s or how I can't compare confuse powers, I'm going to stop you here.
AoE holds are on a whole different lvl, they can and will stop a baddie from attacking and moving. Where as confuse, doesn't immobilize, stop from attacking, or keep the same exp you get from the baddies.
And All confuse powers do hold one thing in common... they confuse a group or single enemies.
Confused enemies for all intents and purposes are held. Okay, they may not be immobilized which can possibly be problematic, but by confusing them you are still completely disarming them. A confused boss will stand there and take a beating and not retaliate. If you are lucky, he might even buff/heal you while you do so. If you are luckier, he will have 3-4 pets/pseubopets which will all be confused as well.
The only thing that holds have that confuse does not is that it offers containment and like you already mentioned, immobilizes the enemy. :-) -
Quote:Remember that when the game launched Mass Confusion was the only AoE confuse in the game. (Well apart from Artic Air, but that went largely under the radar early on and is a PBAE Toggle.)Now that I think about it a little more, I've realize that the recharge on Mass Confession is completely insane.... 240s just cause it's a Targeted AoE... Mass confuse is indeed better, but it's recharge needs halved... it's over half the time of a t9 on a buff set.... oh and don't forgot that its base acc is 15% less than other confuse powers not in t9 slot as well... very nicely balanced game....
As for the procs, I don't use procs in smoke, flash arrow or any power that has a no aggro flag pinned to it. World of confusion, Mass Confusion, Seeds, all confuse powers get that special proc from the confuse IO set on my toons.
Given that setting, having an AoE Confuse as a T9 power was a huge thing. It can single handedly destroy a whole spawn in one application. It was hugely powerful back then when the game was much harder. In my opinion, it still deserves its 4 minute cooldown. For Mind Controller's these days who have good global recharge, it is easy to get Total Domination and Mass Confusion down to a 90s recharge, and then its not often you don't have one or the other available.
What I do think however is over time the Devs have forgotten how powerful Confuse really is. If you called it "Charm" it would perhaps get the credit and fame it deserves. You aren't just taking an enemy out of the fight, you are making them think you are their ally and that their friends are actually their enemy. They then use their potentially powerful powers to either aid you (I had 6 stacks of Accelerate Metabolism the other day, fun) or destroy whatever you are fighting. It also lasts a lot longer then holds and stuns in any power it features, and almost as long as sleeps. Which in my head is strange because it is so obviously more powerful then them. I always felt the only reason Mass Confusion was allowed to be so powerful and have such a long duration was because it was a T9 power that was placed instead of a pet. I know that this game isn't exactly known for being perfect with numbers, but I honestly feel that someone forgot all these facts when they went to make other confuse powers.
So my response to "Mass Confusion has too long a recharge" is actually that Mass Confusion has very perfect and balanced numbers considering where it is and the set as a whole. It is other powers which have unreasonably overpowered numbers for what they do. Numbers that were taken without much thought in my opinion. "Confuse has a longer duration then stuns and holds...just because it always has."
Of course I am not going to start the "Why is confuse overpowered?" debate because I think that boat has long since sailed, and I would hate for one of my favourite control sets to be caught in the crossfire if the devs ever go gunning for Seeds. Still, as a logical man, and with the assumption that Confuse > Hold > Stun > Immobilize, the numbers just don't make sense to me and never had.
I know this going slightly off topic but I believe we answered the original question anyway. :-) -
Just hit 25 last night so yeah, looking forward to that ;-) Really surprised how well the bots are handling themselves. Obviously I'm the Controller in this duo (of course), but my previous experiences with Thugs, Mercs and Zombies have not been a huge success. Yet bots, with twin Protector bots pumping out shields and heals, are extremely durable. The radiation heal is also really great in this situation.

Quote:Seems like people are overlooking the information Cantatus has already posted.I can't confirm it personally, but according to the manual, you need to level a hero archetype (blaster, controller, defender, scrapper, or tanker) to 20 to unlock a Kheldian and a villain archetype to 20 for the Arachnos EATs. It sounds like the archetype matters more than the alignment, but I could be wrong.
This explanation sounds most plausible. -
Quote:Having moved a character from Hero to Villain I can agree that SOME Vigilante missions leave a bit to be desired, for the reasons you suggested. Some of them are pretty good though, but others you just feel like your character must be stupid to do attack it in that way, but you end up clicking the Vigilante option anyway because thats the overall goal you are working towards. Two that spring to mind are:
- Desdemona is summoning demons! Either stop her ritual (hero) or wait until after the ritual and get her while her demons are destroying the city (vigilante).
This is explained by saying Des will be "weaker" after the summoning but if you could stop her as a hero, why not go in as a vigilante while she's busy concentrating on the ritual and pop her in the head? Problem solved!
- Frostfire is having a meeting with some bad guys. Either arrest them all (hero) or go to Frostfire's warehouse and destroy his trophies so all the other villains laugh at him (vigilante).
Seriously?
There's others but I haven't been keeping notes and don't want to get them wrong. An example of a bright spot was Scrapyarders ready to start a potentially violent protest. I could try diplomacy with the leaders or just punch them all in the face until there were no faces left to punch. At least both options met the goal of stopping the problem.
I do like the Hero options though, they usually always end up with "You rescued the hostages and saved the day, but the baddie villain got away." Classic ;-) -
Well going off topic slightly (since it seems your original question has been answered
) One of my favourite combo's is Controller + Mastermind, which was previously unavailable before GR. The Control and support of Controllers combined with the pets and support of MM's has been an absolute blast. Our Grav/Rad Bots/Traps scientist duet has been simply amazing. I am now eagerly looking forward to our next one, which will probably be another theme, this time a druid of life/druid of death in the form of Necro/Storm and Plant/Storm. Can't get enough Storm power! Just wish we could make the plant set a bit more flowery like how Earth can be crystal/molten,

Quote:I think you are playing the wrong game if you think melee are penalized. 99% of the game is much easier for our status immune, self sufficient friends. You should try soloing an AV or EB with a squishy, might open your eyes.I wasn't a fan of Protean mainly because he was pretty much another AV/EB in the long line of AV/EBs that pretty much say "screw you melee!" For once, I'd like to see an AV/EB that penalizes people for being at range rather than penalizes people for being in melee (an option that melee toons don't really have the ability to take without crippling their damage output; ranged abilities are just as useful in melee as they are at range).
I can take out EB's easily with Peacemoon, but that is only by relying on /Storm, since they are usually flat out immune to all Control for the majority of the time.

I kind of disagree with this due to the fact you can name them, talk through them and give them personality with the use of emotes.
The only problem is you can't customize them, which you should. And you don't aways summon a person with the same face/hair features if you are playing thugs/mercs, which again you should be able to dictate. -
Its worth considering that 'Thin Line' is likely to be achieved, or significant progress made just by doing other CoV content, especially if you are fighting at x8. Paragon Police aren't exactly rare. So I would leave this badge to last - if you even still need it by then.
-
Yep, and it is nice to see knockback have some real use. Was loving Propel while killing these.

Problem is people love to categorize and label characters. They want to be able to look at your AT and straight away know if you are a hero or a villain. They want to use information that is available to them as players, and give it to their characters to make them look intelligent, all-knowing and special. I've seen it many times before and it is very bad RP. It only takes a basic understanding of the concept of RP to realise this.
So in conclusion, being a stalker doesn't make you a villain. Being a defender doesn't make you a hero. Even a zombie summoning master of dark miasma can be a good guy; if you can't open your mind enough to accept that, you have no business engaging in RP. -
In our Mr. and Mrs. duo I chose "No Authority", which seemed quite fitting. :P

Quote:I called it...wish I hadn't though. If you want me personal opinion, then no. Not as a booster, I would like it as part of i19 if anything. Animal pieces have been in the game since the beginning, why should people have to buy an animation that accurately portrays it? Thats just me though. I don't begrudge them from trying to make money, but I can't help but feel disapointed as we begin our seemingly rapid descent into the Sims territory.
Just waiting for City of Heroes - Party Pack
