    That's me. I bought the wedding pack BEFORE getting the email - I read about it on the forums, and was *WHOOOSH* off to the store. My Emp/Archery defender Medi-Lad, within his own story, is already marginally connected to Manticore (see avatar to the left, o rthis cropped-to-size screenshot). How can I *not* do my part to dress the boy up right, and have him attend the wedding?

    There is a veil, but as it is bugged atm and shows up as nothing more then a black blanket tied to my character's head, I didn't include it.

    Bugged, but the color on the outside of the veil is tied to the hair color.... as seen here.

    Well, this is what Medi-Lad should look like, come the wedding. He's been in a hooded costume since I made him ... so I've only just now decided he's a (flamingly bright) red-head.

    Stuck largely with a subdued version of his costume colors, and kept a small mask (you have to look REAL close, it's just the eyes).

    Looks nice, and I don't regret a single dollar.

  12. You can also check your "Friends" list, to see if the channel(s) are there at all. That keeps the tabs properly set for when the channel(s) come back, too.

    So, you've posted another "I can't find a team, merge the servers" thread. Since you apparently didn't search to find the reasons that have been gone over before as to why this is a *horrendously* bad idea, here's a quick rundown.

    1. "I can't find a team."


    You're not looking. Sorry, but it's true, or you're not looking very hard. This isn't "Someone from Freedom/Virtue" talking. I play on every server, at various hours throughout the day/week, and can't think of a time I've had trouble getting a team.

    Sitting around with "LFT" on (you DO change your flag, right?) doesn't do a lot. Use the team search. Make a team. I've lost count of the number of times I'll see people broadcasting "Level X AT LFT!" one after the other, do a mission, come out... and see those same people broadcasting, refusing to actually *form* a team.

    Heck, if my *stalkers* can get invited to teams... it's not a problem.

    2. "The subscription numbers are down!"

    Did you bother looking this up? We've been reasonably steady on subscriptions for quite some time - and are doing well enough and looking viable enough for NCSoft to purchase the City Of * franchise and put more money into it. You don't show that to a dying product (see also Auto Assault.)

    [u]Reasons against server mergers:[u]

    1. Character name conflicts.


    I have multiple versions of characters on multiple servers. I'd be very annoyed at any of them getting renamed. (For instance, my namesake is (a) a Fire/SS tank (the original,) (b) a Fire/EM tank, (c) a Spines/Dark scrapper (closer to the original concept,) and (d) a SS/DA Brute (almost an exact match for how I wanted him, but the combo was unavailable heroside - and villainside didn't exist when I started.) I play all of those characters One's just about 40, another's in the 30s as I write.

    I also know some names are taken on one server that I have on another. Say I have SuperGuyDude on ... oh, Infinity, and someone else has it on Justice. The two are merged. Who gets to keep the name? Who *really* wants to be SuperGuyDude1? Or be forced into a rename?

    Annoying your customers does not help you keep a subscription base.

    2. Supergroup name conflicts.

    See above.

    3. Character overflow

    I have many servers with more than six characters on them... to be honest, I can only think of one that doesn't. I have several that are full or near full. For instance, Pinnacle and Victory. 10 on Pinnacle, 11 on Victory. Now, suppose those two were picked to merge. Not only do I have a name conflict there (the Fire/SS and Fire/EM tanks,) but I have 21 characters. 10 characters - all of which I play, four of my five 50s and two of my near-50s, at time of writing. What happens to the "extra" nine? Which nine go away? What happens to their SG/VG, ENH in storage, prestige earned and the like?

    For a game that *encourages* alts, this is a problem.

    4. It sends the wrong signal to the community - game specific and MMO in general.

    This was brought up not just by players but by one of our NCRednames - that merging servers sends a signal that the game is in trouble (see, again, Auto Assault.) Given that the game is doing fine, this is not a signal that needs sending.

    5. For the reasons above, it would harm others game experience

    You're breaking up supergroups, friends lists and the like just on *technical* reasons - not to mention people may not like/be able to handle the "busier" server now, and have to move to another. This is not the way to keep players.

    6. Not everyone WANTS to be on a "busy" server.

    Yes, some servers have more population than others, and/or a higher load. Some people go there specifically for that. Others avoid those very same servers, not wanting to put up with the increased nonsense in broadcast, lag and the like. You're reducing their choice... because you have teaming issues.

    Yes, some people still play on dialup. Believe it or not, not everyone has a quad-core 3 Ghz CPU and dual GeForce 8800s with four gigs of RAM on a high speed broadband connection, nor can they afford to (or sometimes even have the *option* to) switch. I know several who still run "ancient" systems - Geforce 5 series cards on Athlon/Sempron/PIII/other near-minimum spec systems. Combining servers would drive them away as well.

    I play on Freedom and Virtue beause the specific people I wish to play with, are mostly on Freedom and Virtue. I could give a toss about the rest of the people on those servers. ^_^

    I was chatting with a friend over the weekend and while chatting in KR on Virtue he was complaining that even with the "Looking to team/Anything" flag up he couldn't get a team. Not even with the SG he belonged to, he was lvl 16 at the time. On the other hand I had to keep swatting team invites away and I was lvl 11. We were both the same AT and powersets (Scrapper DB/WP).

    Tell him not to feel too bad; one SG - the reason I moved to Freedom for heroside play - has gotten to the point, I don't show up for meetings anymore; sometimes I'm left standing there, teamless (even though I know there's room on one or more SG teams), and most of the rest of the time I feel like I've pushed my way onto a team, by being too damned insistent. 8( MAkes me regret being on Freedom at all, right now.
  16. Shubbie, once there is an official thread for a topic - like, say, this one - it is against the rules to start NEW threads, anywhere else, discussing that topic. This is an important enough issue, the developers want(ed) to have ALL the commentary concentrated in a single thread, so they could digest the players' collective feedback in a more timely manner.

    Could you pass a request up the totem pole that a general number - "Around ___, give or take a few [hundred or thousand or whatever]" - be given on these forums? Granted, I know that won't happen for weeks or months regardless, but it'd be nice to know for the next "OMG all the servers are full" event. ^_^

    Knowing it's "around 5K", or "Around 10K", or maybe "between 10 and 15 thousand" ... would be nice. Not neccessary by any means, but ... nice. Call it a QoL thing, if you like. ^_^

    In Issue 12 (no release date yet, sorry), we are going to have you never dropping below 50% Inf. earn rate when in Supergroup mode. We will look at the impact of that change and base future alterations on that.

    Normally when a server is grayed out it becomes unaccesible you cant choose it at all. But since there is a character transfer option it wouldnt be a bad idea to let us at least get to the character options and buy a transfer.
