If you could do, in pvp, what you do, in mayhem missions, it would be hella awesome.

I think the biggest barrier to pvp is that the pve in this game is just so much better at fostering social activity. in pvp, you go up against another player, that guy could very well be 6 to 8 times as powerful as you. He or she could be capable of soloing stuff ten times as tough as you without taking damage. When people build pvp characters, it's not to be fair. It's to be custom-built to destroy something without any chance of failure.

the idea of a fair fight is just alien to this game. How could you possibly arrange it?
  2. "We're going to give you free stuff guys, here's a heads up!"

    "HOW THE **** DARE YOU"

And Twinshot doesn't know that. For whatever reason.

It doesn't make the writers wrong. It adds to her personality.
The fact that she refers to you that way, just as she would a three-headed half-motorcycle demicanadian whiskey hunter from Mars, means nothing!

That's just her way of saying "hey you" which, I might add, is the most offensive thing you can possibly say to a whiskey hunter.
  5. It would be nifty to choose the idle animation poses for our characters but I don't think it could get much more complicated than that.
  6. What does the powerset entail?

    Jerk-Hexers. All of them.
City of Heroes is finally gone to the Americans.

I rather enjoyed the option to just let them die.

    As a side note:
The kind of missions and arcs you're describing become cheap overused tripe when they become predictable. If half the storylines in the game ended with the same happy ending, you'd get bored far more quickly than you would at the vast array of different endings.

I rather enjoyed seeing the "oh, he was fooled into working for longbow the whole time" and the "ahh, I didn't fulfill my part of the bargain so this guy still has to work for me and advance my goals" and the "that ******* stole my cloning facility and then he blew it up" and the "the radio just keeps playing and i walk away" and the "i just gave the world another mad scientist and he's happy" and the "hmm, sucks to be the sea witch today!"

All different endings. And I don't want them to copy paste anything from the past into new content. make new stuff! not old!

The second time I see a happy ending, it's overused. There should always be mixed feelings about what's happened.
  9. Don't worry, they'll burn out on Magic soon enough and then it'll go right back to pure awesome science/tech/mutant/magic stuff.

It's probably better that they don't stick to a hard and fast "twenty percent of everything has to fit each origin" rule or something. that would be stupid. Even if you take into account the prevalence of magic-themed stuff, that doesn't dictate that it rules the world, only that it's diversified and popular.

There's "techy" stuff everywhere, and even the movie THOR made magic look techy. When it comes to superheroes, blurring or obliterating the line between things is par for the course, so I can't really take any arguments here seriously. Sorry, it's not due to any failures on your part to try and convince me otherwise, it's just a ridiculous premise to suggest that city of heroes is "too magicky" because it's the least magic-oriented MMO I've played, and that includes Star Trek and Star Wars themed stuff.
  10. Lol @ the very outdated "much less eye-searing" comment.

With mecha and the supposed space-based content on the way first, I wonder how far away something like this might be?

There are way too many conspiracy theorists here for this to be an accident.

This has to be the beginning of some weird city of heroes conspiracy ARG or something.
Earlier, I decoded a message on a box of tic-tacs that said "Zwillinger is in on it 23ABqRf."
There was another message that said "WHAT ARE YOU DOING YOU ARE WASTING YOUR TIME" but I figure that was just deflecting attention away.

We're getting close guys, I can feel it.
  12. Oh man. I had no idea. Guess I better hit up the store and stock up on frosting.

On the other hand I could just turn off the A/C and roll up a new(de) alt...
  13. Any thread about "infernal racket" is automatically referring to Demon Summoning.

The worst part? It's such an amazing powerset. The demons are superpowerful, so plenty of people "put up" with them for the power, which is just ALL TOO AWESOME. I mean it's like, what, uh, what's the opposite of irony?

Ends up I couldn't get very far. "Millionaire Playboy" wasn't available. Nor was "billionaire playboy," "trillionaire playboy" seemed a bit much, since most craftable temp powers can be bought and built for chump change....
It's a superhero universe. Go all out. Quadrillionaire Playboy, or Quintillionaire Playboy, or [NAME REDACTED], or Septillionaire Playboy. Maybe even Ridiculozillionaire.

Incidentally that's neat that they changed the baseball bat power. Do all of them do that? Because holy crap I'll have grenades and tasers out the wazoo if that's the case.
  15. Craftable stuff like the bat, taser, and baton are awesome, if only I could store extra bats somewhere instead of storing the recipe and materials.

It's also kinda awkward that I know exactly how many more hits I can get in with a baseball bat before it breaks, but I can't just toss it and make a new one.
  16. Give us a war.

An ultimate battle between naivety and evil, where we steal an alien ship and participate in a massive-scale battle where we not only can man the guns and fire away on the opposing ship but have to deal with invaders beaming on board and attacking and harassing the crew. Finally a scenario where defenders would be individually just as useful as anyone else even if the entire rest of the team is defense, resistance, and heal-capped. Got to keep those NPC's alive and well or the job becomes impossible for the team, you see.

Victory in the conflict means that my character has a real, genuine, alien ship all to myself, complete with a teleporter that can send me to my mission zone once every 30 minutes to an hour or so, and a little pad where I can go and invite my friends and we can chill and watch B-movies from another world. As to whether the conflict ever ends with one side victorious or another, who really cares, man, I got a spaceship.

  18. If the aftermath of WWD (and Statesman's death) is a series of arcs as well done as 52 was, then yes it will be worth it.

  21. When Party Kake hit 50 and I decided I wanted to try out the incarnate raids, I ended up in a BAF right off the bat after only seconds of waiting, and even though I was so weak compared to everyone else that my robots were being torn up like tinfoil and I was being punted around like a football, and had a hell of a time just trying to figure out what was going on, Even if you realistically call that "Just watching a BAF happen" it got me halfway to an unlock in only about 15 minutes and I was able to spend cash and threads to finish it. That's pretty damn fast.

So maybe my perception of expected unlock speed was skewed somewhat, but when the DA progression hit beta I assumed it was artificially or mistakenly slow, as after the entire DA story arc the level 50 +0 character I was testing with was now at 4% or so to unlocking the first new slot.

I hear they've switched completely over to threads and there's a way to get empyrean merits now. that's fantastic, because those emps really shouldn't be gated down as raider only content.

  23. Although Thor as a god is in the public domain I think it would be rather funny if they went out of their way not to mention his name and did so for comedic effect.
