    I think it's funny.
    I'm someone else.
  2. I saved "Shampoo Commercial" just for the set. Might go back and forth for a while on what her secondary should be.
  3. Shame I'm late to the party. I would have suggested Mechmage.

I got a good laugh out of Techs Arcana though, that's awesome. Makes me want to create a set of Texas-themed characters like Pain Handle, Gulf Dream, or Lone Starfighter.
  4. Well for solo play Dual Pistols/Empathy defender might be top dog.

I have a Forcefields/somethingorother defender named RNG, but wouldn't dare try to solo with her. hitting the brick wall at 22 on the emp/dp character was enough of a deterrent.
  5. I chose Victory, for obvious reasons.
I mean what else would I choose?

Erhrm. You keep using that word, I do not think it means what you think it means.

    But not to be nitpicky.

    @St_Angelius
It's practically a party hat, assuming it's not too much work I'm sure male characters would enjoy it enough. Perhaps you guys can get Dink to come to the rescue.
  8. Things made out of matter are inherently destructive.
    Living creatures are inherently evil.
    Evolved creatures are inherently intelligent.
Human beings are the single most terrifyingly intelligent, evil, and destructive force on the planet.
"Evil" is just a term that "heroes" throw around to describe someone with opposing viewpoints.

You let this guy do anything but die and he's going to slaughter another few billion in the name of security through Fascism, WHEN he escapes. And all of the ghosts of those kids, women, puppies, kittens, and soldiers he kills are going to look you in the eye every time you try to sleep and they're going to ask you why his life was worth so many of theirs.
  9. Give males the princess hat as a belt option.
  10. Use him as a source of clean energy for the entire world - have him operate a crank to generate electricity.

a hundred or so years of moving your arms in a circular motion without stopping for a break would rehabilitate him up good. And by that point I'm sure they'll find a cleaner source of alternative energy.

  11. Looks like it only works for those two models, not any variations of them.

In other words it's probably a lot less versatile than it looks.

How DARE you say that about Barda!

    Also I'd like to add:

opposition to this as outlined is just ridiculous.

you guys are claiming that people who are NOT playing a free-to-play game, are NOT spending any money to support it, and who have NOT logged into their account in years are going to be SO PISSED at this change that... WHAT? They STOP PLAYING? OH, Heavens to Betsy, won't someone think of the SUBSCRIBERS TO OTHER MMOS?!?!?!?!

The name reservation thing doesn't even have to be that complicated. It takes literally ZERO DOLLARS AND ZERO CENTS to log into the game, reserve a few characters' names and be done with it.

When a friend of mine hopped back in to the free-to-play model, he ACCIDENTALLY WASTED two of his character slot unlocks and was still satisfied at the ability to play his old character again. I'm confident that if he'd screwed up and had to create a new character from scratch he wouldn't be upset at all, because you have a heck of a lot more options now than you did before.

Cost of business of performing sweep and unlocking old names reserved by outdated accounts: zero.
    Cost of lost sales: zero.
Cost in time/effort of person performing sql query: Probably not much, I'm sure someone would do it for a donut or something rather than trolling the forums for a few more hours. and that's assuming they have to learn what sql is first.

    benefits of performing operation:
people who haven't played the game in years hear they need to log in to reserve their old characters' names and maybe they do.
people who don't give a damn continue to not give a damn.
some people who are currently playing create new characters, assume that the awesome name they just got was one freed up from sweep, rejoice.
contented that they've done some good for the world, the paragon developers enjoy a relaxing game of Sissy's Magical Ponycorn Adventure. (link: http://ponycorns.com/ )
  13. Thankfully the game is designed such that you can go at your own pace and more importantly you can change your mind about the pace at any time.

For me it depends on what character I'm playing and how bored the group is.

Every once in a while, when your inspiration bars are all full and you want to actually use them, you can pull a second group, run behind a corner to group them up in one spot, and use ALL THE INSPIRATIONS and go to town. I personally hand-toss the reds to my minions because it just wouldn't be dramatic if I used a macro to do it, I use all sorts of aoe powers and I leap right into fights because the game just wouldn't be fun if I didn't take risks.

Glad that I can. Certain other MMO's just flat out suck at presenting challenges.

    So what happens?

Now add to that, there's a (really damn long) story over in the RP section about her - if parts of her background from that story start showing up as the Marvel background, then what? Do I get involved, because it's my brain work being swiped at that point?

    Complicated.
    Why ask questions about it?
Get hired by Marvel and find out!
  15. People playing and supporting the game should get name priority over those not playing or supporting the game.

Hell, if people haven't played in 3+ years they will probably not even remember their login name or password and might just start up a new account and work up from there. This would allow them to get their old characters "back" without much trouble.
  16. I used the random costume generator to create a character with a truly horrid costume.

I saved a civilian, who promptly said "cool costume!"

and I had to retire that character.
  17. Back in the day when another game first came out I made a mod for it that had an interesting twist on the escort mission.

You the player would stumble across a halfling standing at the base of a valley looking up towards his home where a bear stood outside. The halfling was obviously upset and wouldn't speak. His dog was nearby and you could get the dog to follow you, and either attack the bear, or sneak past it.

Once inside, you saw the wife of the halfling, and you could talk to her, and tell her the bear was outside, or that he wasn't. The game detected whether you were telling the truth or not.

If you lied and said the way was clear, she'd run back out and try to reunite with her husband, but the bear would likely kill her, and then the husband, distraught, would run to her side and die as well, and then you'd have carte blanche to raid the house. you get loot, bad karma, and maybe a new pet dog to follow you around a bit.

If you told the truth, they reunited, you got good karma, and they went back to their home and offered you a new short quest as your reward. But if you tried to steal from their house, they murdered you.

So yeah, every time I sneak my way to a hostage, I laugh hard when they say "thanks for the rescue" and leave, running right past all the mobs that should theoretically attack.
  18. Heh. Guess now your character has to break out of the zig. :P
  19. I'm also namecamping Shampoo Commercial in preparation for the next few powersets, one of which is rumored to be appropriate.

I have it, last i checked.

In other words, GR storyline=completely worthless and irrelevant prior to 20.

    Just saying.
Dude, they don't know that. Going from Praetoria to Paragon guarantees a clean slate.

Furthermore, it's up to you whether you decide to outright kill or handcuff every badguy you "defeat," but when you see demon-summoning heroes, heroes unloading grenade launchers point-blank at purse snatchers, longbow using flamethrowers against catgirls, longbow using flamethrowers against wolf pets...

The line was crossed long before that. it's hardly an issue.
  22. If you're feeling shortchanged, you can ask for a refund check to be delivered to you, however, it WILL be for zero dollars and zero cents.
  23. The biggest one I was amazed at was Flawed Clone.
I mean surely someone had tried THAT before!

Thought about creating Trapdoor Bifurcation, but that one would just be for the funny screenshot.

I've never really had trouble getting the names I wanted, except someone had taken Statuesque so I made do.
