  1. Not a fan of the glow, I like the panel on a, and the sticky-outy ring thingies on c, but given the choice I think option A felt more like the very simple low-key retro stuff.

Still, all the options are great! good job on these.
  2. C matches his hair covering thingy.

It's also simpler. though honestly I like the top one too, but C seems more like the campy retro sci-fi styles I'm fond of.
  3. Ha, powering a plant with the resources of multiple dimensions is crazy. who's to say that you're not tapping into a vital resource that another civilization needs to survive? Even if you don't know, ignorance isn't an excuse.

And your argument sounds an awful lot like

In his defense, there's more than one city on this planet.

Anti-matter can cheat and claim his reactor is all that because they've genocided away the 99% of their planet, but his power plant isn't really that much more of an accomplishment.

Yeah but that technically applies to every single piece of technology in the superhero universe. heck in the case of Batman it only required a handgun.

really? That's one of the sets I find the most fun. Its animations are smooth and, well, pretty. And you can customize their colors a lot more than typical fistfighting sets. Perhaps Street Justice is more like you want.

Honestly though I think it would be really awesome if we had the ability to mix and match animations and colors from various sets. I can't really describe or draw what I'm thinking of so I won't flat out request or demand it because it's a lot harder than I can imagine I'd wager. But I think it would be sweet if I could have a character with say, the mechanics of a martial arts/ninjutsu stalker with the animations of street justice/ice armor, and if I could make my ice armor red, as if it were crystals of heat energy from my home planet of villia or whatever.

That is, however, pretty far out there.

    1. What does this pattern signify and what number follows it?
    62; 79; 110; 120; 119; 57; 222; 175; 154; 84; 123; 174; 196; 127; 82; 78; 225; 110; 106; 63; 63; 84; 77; 85; (blank)

    2. Without cheating by looking up in-game, how many feet are in a mile? (remember all those times you were headed towards your objective and you saw the indicator change from showing miles to showing feet?)

    3. What do all dominator secondary powersets have in common?

    4. How many different kinds of grenades exist in the game?

    5. Which powerset currently (today's date) contains more than the acceptable amount of "derp"?

    6. What will City of Heroes be gone to, and who is to blame?

    7. Why might Brutes be considered the hottest AT?

I'll try and come up with more questions later if these are too easy. Fight the urge to cheat!
  10. In the hero side Twinshot arc, after the arc was completed, after hearing several truly bad jokes from her, she ends the dialogue with me by saying something along the lines of "you really outsmarted us all. That stings." My character's name was Hornet Stinger.

It was such a hilarious coincidental joke that I couldn't help but laugh.

And it's particularly ironic that her funniest joke wasn't intended to be a joke. :P

Heck there are people opposed to what they're seeing simply because they don't want the young character from the stories they remember to grow up.
  12. Paragon: "Here you go, you wanted this stuff for low level characters, so here's an option to get them for exactly that."

All the heavy Debuff would be attractive for TF/SF/Trials That's for sure.
It's not meant to be a powerset that's a complete mirror of empathy. Empathy's a set where you heal your teammates. False Empathy is meant to be a set where you fool the enemies into thinking you're on their side and hurt them from the other side of the front line. Undercover/double agent style.

It's not really perfect but it's a start.
  14. It's meant to be equivalent to ninja run, a "mostly just for looks" power.

If you want to know why ninja run exists, make a dual pistols character and turn on ninja run and jump around with your guns and shoot up groups of enemies like crazy.

    It sounds stupid.

    It's incredibly fun.
  15. One of the things I thought would be cool is a variant "chase" mission where the "level" is a series of vehicles racing down a roadway. you'd have to be timed of course, but the objective would be to leap from vehicle to vehicle attempting to catch up to the getaway car.

It would be a trip to see someone just attempt to make the mission because the 4 travel powers would all work wildly different in their usefulness, and I don't know that they could ever be balanced. it would be funny though if you teleported onto someone's car and they freaked out and lost control of their vehicle...

but yeah, it would be worth seeing in game.

    LOL

and LOL again, I just realized how hilariously awesome False Love would be if it were usable on allies and enemies both.
  17. Not to be confused with Pain Domination (which is hella cool), False Empathy is a "offensive" set like, for example, Icy Assault or Ice Blast (respective powersets for dominator or corruptor).

Centered around confuse attacks, False Empathy allows you to create a character who specializes in using psychic attacks in a much more subtle fashion. Less of the flashy, more of the dramatic. More like Emma Frost than Jean Grey, if that helps.

the powers I've come up with are as follows (and I probably screwed up their order, so take that with a grain of salt):

    1. Aura of Deception
Toggle: PBAoE, Foe Confuse, -Recharge, Special
This power bends the minds of minions and Lieutenants more easily, and is slightly less impressive than a normal confuse power when used on Bosses+. Initial low magnitude confuse, higher magnitude confuse bonus versus minions and lieutenants.

    2. Nonaggression
Toggle: PBAoE Team Stealth, +Res(DEF Debuff, RES Debuff, ToHit Debuff)
(note: the skill here shouldn't have the same shadowy stealth effect other similar powers do)
This power bends the minds of others nearby, making you appear to be less threatening, until you overtly attack. Even after hostilities erupt, you can bend their minds subtly, reducing the potential of their powers to maim or rend your terribly pretty self.

    3. False Healing Aura
PBAoE Foe Heal, Foe -Recharge, Special (Foe Moderate Damage(untyped), timed)
This power appears to heal the wounds of your enemies only to reveal seconds later to be ineffective, and half of the threat caused by the power is caused with the initial heal, the other half upon resolution of wounds.

    4. False Love
Ranged, Foe -Res(Disorient, Hold, Sleep, Immobilize, Fear, Confusion), Team +Perception
This power taps into the enemy's mind and feeds them illusions powered by their own desires and needs, creating a false sense of security against your powers and the powers of your teammates. You and your allies become more alert to surprise, due to the foe inadvertently telling of the dangers ahead.

    5. Suggestion
Target (Location AoE), Foe Confuse, -Recharge
A much more reliable form of Confusion, this power does not suffer from a low magnitude confuse, and is as such more reliable versus bosses and higher, unlike the aura above.

    6. False Healing (probably belongs in one of the first two powers)
Ranged, Foe Heal, Foe -Recharge, Special (Foe High Damage(untyped), timed)
This power appears to heal the wounds of your foes, only to reveal later to be just the opposite. This power causes no threat until wounds are applied.

    7. Aneurism
Ranged, Foe High Damage(Psionic), Confuse, Special (Immunities, timed)
This power wounds the target's mind, rendering them confused for a short while, but then afterwards, they become immune to powers from this powerset and to confusion and to psychic damage for a (longer) while.

    8. Arise, Champion
Summon Minion: Melee Minor DMG(Psychic) (Special)
This power awakens a defeated enemy minion (who is revealed to be a minion of Nemesis! maybe? eh? get it? ahh I thought it was funny), and the awakened minion "remembers" that he or she was meant to serve you unquestioningly, and will defend you to the death. This power may only be used on a defeated enemy minion.

    9. Unknown
I figured I'd leave a spot unfilled so that someone could pitch in an idea or something.

So basically the set is meant to be the "slightly less offensive but still offensive enough to be playable" version of a dominator's secondary set or a corruptor's primary set. It fits with the theme of a sadistic, intelligent, plotting-from-the-shadows-while-moving-sinister-chess-pieces-on-a-sinister-chessboard type villain, which, in my opinion, would be spectacular.

The set has 3 powerful confusion abilities AND a powerful single target debuff that lowers the enemy's resistance to confusion...

It features a "stealth that's not a stealth" which I think is cool...

It has 3 really nice PBAoE's and a minion summoning power that *might* require that you touch the defeated enemy minion (it would be a nice touch I think), encouraging the player to be up close and personal with the enemies, which I think is important for the class concept.

It has only 3 damage-dealing powers and two of them are the wonky "pretend-to-heal" powers with a third one featuring a hefty drawback if the enemy doesn't get deaded before the effect wears off (but then you do have another powerset to work with, so long as it's not mind control... D:< )

So what do you guys think? What does it need as its 9th power?

  19. K, so picture this:
As either a costume set or an aura (not sure which would work better, so I figured creating a separate thread since I didn't know which art topic to post it in)...

Various costume options could be made that feature either the character wearing armor or tights, but with visible battle wounds (of the heroic type), like javelins sticking out of the chest, perhaps a sword sticking out of you (which might have the hilt broken off), maybe even signature character weapons like claws stickin in ya.

    And of course...

    ...an arrow in the knee.

Only question really is, would it work better as an aura, or as actual costume parts? If it were an aura, it could be used with any existing costume parts (but not with another aura), and if it were costume parts, you'd be stuck with whichever clothing the artists felt would be added to it. Perhaps it would be a variant of the "blast" look. Though I'm thinking it'd be cooler as a variant of some "knight in shining armor" type armor.
  20. In the case of the ascended costume pieces, you have to be 50 just to use them.

I imagine that the costume parts were designed that way first so that they could decide which things should require level 50 and which shouldn't.

No idea how easy or hard it would be to backtrack on that.
  21. This is ultimately a minor issue that I'm hoping will be resolved soon.

I'm a VIP and have purchased access to all the power sets that aren't free to me.

I have two characters on Exalted, one uses Beam Rifle, one uses Street Justice. Both are locked at the moment and on the character select screen I am given the option to go unlock them with points when I attempt to log in as these characters.

In a similar but perhaps unrelated issue, on another character when I logged in I noticed that invention origin enhancements in her inventory were labeled as "locked" and required an invention license in order to use them. In this case, simply moving the enhancement or picking it up and putting it right back fixed the issue and the red text that was in error was removed.

This is live, not on the beta server. I assume it may be connected to a server-side hotfix.

To add to the confusion, I have a copy of one of those characters on the Victory server, and that character is NOT locked. It's the street justice one.
  22. Actually just soul transfer, and that power that makes you invincible for like 45 seconds. that would drive anybody nuts.
  23. the term "Moral obligations" is an oxymoron.

Something that is morally correct can never be an obligation. It must be a choice.
If you force someone to do the right thing, it's just as bad as forcing them to do the wrong thing.

  25. anyone can do the alignment missions, silultaneously gaining xp, rewards, and character development, OR they can purchase the alignment change token to instantly switch to the other side, skipping over rogue and vigilante.

the item is clearly designed so that a player can "join" his friends on the other side. it's a matter of convenience and it's outside the scope of the player's RP.

Face it, your "immersion" and your roleplay environment have to be willing to accept extenuating circumstances.

In plenty of comic books, heroes have been fighting as villains or vice versa, only for us to find out "later" that it wasn't really them/they were brainwashed/it was a nemesis duplicate/an alien parasite had burrowed out their brain and replaced it with a turnip.

    THIS IS NOT NEW.

Sudden unexplained shifts in the personality of a character are PAR FOR THE COURSE in every single comic book universe. Hell, in ANY fictional universe.

There are people out there who are even okay with Stephen Fry being Sherlock Holmes' gay brother (don't recall that from the original novels, hmm) because well, they don't mind Stephen Fry being allowed to be in the movie.

Plenty of people can come up with perfectly valid ways to "handwave" away this story nonsense. It's your fault if you can't.
