I noticed you didn;t turn off stealth in your Quantum Flight bind and I agree: while stealth uses endurance, but QF+Stealth makes you fully invisible, this way you won't accidentally aggro other groups while you fly away phase shifted.
-
Another fun bind: use it to create the kehldian form change "boom" to change costume.
Once again this is a 2 step bind, first press the key, which starts to switch you into Nova form, then release it to go back to human form in the new costume before the transformation to nova had time to complete.
The game may consider you switched to Nova, so for a fraction of a second you loose Cosmic Balance and your Human toggles will get detoggled. Consider that if you want to switch in combat.
pbcc1.txt
o "+ $$powexectoggleon Bright Nova$$bindloadfile pbcc2.txt"
pbcc2.txt
o " $$cc 2$$powexectoggleoff Bright Nova$$bindloadfile pbcc1.txt" -
I also use a bind for teleporting on all my teleporting toons, here is the White Dwarf version. it's one of the more complex binds that uses multiple files:
pbtp_off.txt
LSHIFT "+ $$powexecname White Dwarf Step$$camdist 90$$windowhide target$$windowhide tray$$bindloadfile .\binds\pbtp_on1.txt"
LSHIFT+LBUTTON nop
pbtp_on1.txt
LSHIFT "- $$powexecunqueue$$camreset$$windowshow target$$windowshow tray$$bindloadfile .\binds\pbtp_off.txt"
LSHIFT+LBUTTON "+ $$bindloadfile .\binds\pbtp_on2.txt"
pbtp_on2.txt
LSHIFT+LBUTTON "- $$powexecname White Dwarf Step$$bindloadfile .\binds\pbtp_on1.txt"
pressing the SHIFT key zooms out the camera and shows the TPing cursor, while keeping SHIFT down, you can simply click as many times as you need to teleport, then when you're done TPing, release SHIFT and the camera zooms back to default view.
Since I use TP mostly in outdoor settings, I like the camera to pull out so I see more area around me, also allows to target areas that are out of sight with the default view (above you for example). Since some of the windows could be in the way of your targeting cursor, I turn off the windows that I deem unnecessary during TPing.
Adjust accordingly for your personal preference. -
for the SS/stealth bind I use the following:
tilde "+$$powexec_toggleon Super Speed$$powexec_toggleon Stealth"
when I press the tilde (~) key down it activates stealth, when I releae the key it activates superspeed. You have to hold the key a fraction of a second before you release it, but I find that more pleasant than having to hit the key twice. Just offered as an alternative -
Thanks for the feedback and glad my guide was more of a help than a hindrance to you.
I came to the same conclusion that you did on a few points and my current build (now at 47) is not identical to the build in the guide. I also 6-slotted the forms, and I took Gleaming Blast (I think at 40, I don;t have the build with me atm) once I had access to Light Form, becuae the attack chain was a little thin.
I still haven't taken Gleaming Touch, not because I think it's a bad power, but because I find myself enjoying the fight too much to worry about healing teammates. I'd rather take the bad guy down and let them rest.
Thanks for the binds section, my guide was getting too long so I didn't add them to it, but it so happens that I use the exsact same binds you do with the exception that I added sappers to the list of baddies to autotarget.
I laos have a bind that turns on both stealth and superspeed with one key stroke, but I don;t have it handy. basically it activates stealth on key down and superspeed on key up, you have to delay releasing the key just a smidge, but it's very convenient to turn invisibility on.
I have also become a fan of Dawn Strike, wich is quite safe to use as a PB.
Human powers do suck endurance but I don't regret not taking it. differences in playstyle may make it more of an issue for some. Since I'm now in HO range, I'm plannign my build for HOs, which will also help by making for slots available for end-redux for example. -
DaemonDivinity, I'm just beginning to plan my own build, but I think you're going to regret not taking Dull Pain earlier.
I'm also an advocate of hurdle for superjumper, it doubles the *distance* (not height, which you wouldn't care about) of jumps and makes you much more agile in the air.
I really love superjump, I think it fits the invul/ss concept very well (seen The Hulk movie?) but I just couldn't make myself skip Air Superiority in my build, and didn't find a slot to spare for Combat Jump if I took it.
my first stab at a build is posted here if anyone cares. -
yet, I can't figure out how to fit everything I want in here. just not enough power slots
Trying to make a "nonaggrotroller" Mind/Empath but what's getting me is the extra utility I want to throw in there, like invisibility and recall friend and...
Oh, and I want TK, not at least trying TK on a Mind/ is something I wouldn't consider. -
*Edited since I misunderstood what a previous poster had said and answered totally wrong.)
As far as QF+Stealth, it may be invisibility but you can't interract with objects, and it drains your END very fast, so it's only situational. So to me the use is very diferent from SS+Stealth. I spent 90% of my human form time invisible, and even at level 45 it is very useful, so I don't see taking Superspeed as a wasted power at all. I would have taken Hasten no matter what.
I like Quantum Flight as a simple panic button, so I only use the default slot and free slots for other uses. Same with superspeed.
I stand by my guide, I would still take SS+Stealth in a heartbeat. and I'm 45 now, so not quite the newbie anymore
that said, if QF+Stealth works for you, that's great!
I do not have END issues, but like most other toons, I do have to watch END. I have basically nothing left after 2 full human attack cylces without any buffs from teammates (SB, AM...) or Conserve Power. The trick is that I don't use Human all the time, just as an opening or finishing move )or in between). Switching to Nova or Dwarf allows you to recover END pretty fast. Although with Hasten+Nova I will also run out of END wihtout buffs or Conserve Power.
You use Human only powers in Light Form but it comes with +recovery so you don't have this kind of worries there.
For my play style, I am totaly satisfied with my choice not to take Stamina.
I'm working on an update to the guide, but really it's not very different from what is in the current version. I took powers in a slightly different order, and I added Gleaming Blast to complete the Human attack chain in Light Form. I have yet to take Glowing Touch on Live, I like it but I'm usually dispatching bad guys, not looking for teammates to heal. I'll take it at 47.

RedTomax's looks promising but not complete yet.
I used to use this one: http://cohplanner.coldfront.net/
I currently use this one: http://sherksilver.coldfront.net/index.php although it's broken for peacebringers in the current version. -
Don't discount the usefulness of being invisible as a MM.
it really allows you to position yourself away from your minions so you don't die from the AoEs for example. I favorited techinque of mine is to make my minions stay, invis to the other side of the spawn, tell minions to attack, and use fearsome stare just as the alpha volley goes out.
Even more useful if you have TP Friend. You can go straight to the named boss or the ThornTree room in the respec trial for example.
It's also very useful for nearly teamwipes, make a pile of dead bodies in the middle of your shadowfall, then open the next fight with Howling Twilight.
Showdowfall+Superspeed for the win! -
Disorrient Resistance doesn NOT increase the magnitude, i.e. it doesn't not prevent you getting disorriented. What it does is decrease the amount of time the effect lasts, so that if you get stunned, you won't be for as long.
Sorry I don't have numbers, but the glow around your head indicates the duration of the efffect (or you see the Aid self icon in your status bar)
For comparison, Resilience in the /Regen set also offers minor resistence to disorrientation (but it's a passive power) and reduces the amount of time you are stunend after using an awaken quite significantly to the the point that it's not an annoyance anymore.
there are all sort of "mezzes" and Aid Self helps only with disorrient, not holds, fear, etc... -
Travel power by level 8
Hurlde+CJ+}Sprint all slotted with multiple jum enhancements
Don't kid yourself, it's nota "real" travel power. Try going to a zone where all the baddies are +10 or more to you and you'll understand why. It is an OK way to delay taking superjump.
Works a little better in CoV because of all the temp powers you get there (My MM had a superjump pack and two fly packs) -
I don;t know if I'm amazing but I feel amazing, so that's good enough to me. This is the most fun character I have played, I have simply been mostly playing CoV lately to play with the SG...
I'll get around to updating it eventually, but Ireally didn't make significant changesx, mostly tooks powers in a slightly different order starting with delaying Glowing Touch. -
A guide on Patron Power Pools would be nice
-
I did when I hit 45 with Hand of Baahr.
I've nver been to a failed raid (sorry, I missed Monday's). When Mito spawns, "one for each player", do they pysically spawn next to each and every player? how does it work.
I'm sure I'll get my chance to find out eventually.
Karate class till 10:00 EST on Thursday, so I won't make that raid either -
Assault is +10.5% of the *un-enhanced* damage. For a power 3-slotted for damage, the gain is only about 5%. (the calculatiosn appear all over the forums, so I won;t go into the details).
Tactics is good, but you have to take the "useless" Assault for it.
I'd rather take Focus Accuracy from the Body mastery pool.
Your build is pretty good, spines and regen are pretty strightforward sets when it comes to what powers to take. The choice mostly comes about what order to take things in (for example I took BuildUp earlier and Reconstruction later).
I would drop the leadership pool and I would take Resilience and Torrent instead.
I also like to slot Instant Healing for Health in addition to recharge. I find the default to be too low to fight purples.
You also have very limited vertical movement with superspeed. More exactly getting up places will take more time or more practice (Terra Volta for example). Mostly pointing it out for anyone that might want to copy your build straight. -

So, if you add a second SO to Fast Healing, it will add 25% more
If you add a second SO to Integration, it will add 33% more

Thanks for spelling it out for me.
since all healing powers are % of your HP, does it make sense to slot Dull Pain for heals early too? -
If you take superjump, you are really cheating yourself by taking Swift instead of Hurdle.
Hurdle will double your jumping distance (not height) and will make your jump much more maneuverable.
I agree about skipping Petrifying Gaze because you don't have room for it, and it doesn't have the magnitude to hold a boss. Unlike Necro, none of your minions can help with holds. Otherwise it's a pretty good power. -
I agree with "no attacks" personally. Your personal damage, while possibly fun, is way lower than your minions'. also I micromanage my minions a lot, make them go in melee, stay at range, ... so I keep plenty busy between this and the secondary.
That approach has been working extremely well for me on my Necro/Dark, and should work great with Thugs.
you may want to consider Haten and superspeed. Hasten is very nice both for some of the longer recharging /dark powers and to set up at the start of the map (once you get 6 minions and 2 upgrades per, it can take a while to get setup).
Superspeed stacks with shadowfall for complete invisibility: tell your minions to stay where they are, scout ahead, then have your minions attack, totally undetected.
Add Recall friend and you can stealth an entire team to a named boss (or the Thorn Tree room in the respec trial). Recall is also mildly useful to get minions positions or back from a fall in those Oranbega caves (although I usually just let them die).
I like Gang War. It's a great Oh ***** button when you need someone to divert aggro. even 3-slotted their damage is sub-par, but it acts as a good distraction for that purple boss. I use them a little bit like Phantom army, but they're squishy.
I tried the bruiser in the test even where everyone could be lvl40 for a wekend and really liked him. Use pet controls to get him to melee -
LOL, love the read.
My scrapper being one of many alts (but probaby my next 50), he's definitely a "civilized one", but constantly feels the call of the Wild. -
on regen healing, my brain is too small to get the point illustrated by all the different slotting examples.
should one of the regen powers be slotted as priority over the others? (i.e. do I get more bang for my buck by putting an additional SO in one power instead of another).
I hope you asked CuppaJo to sticky your guide, it is very useful. -
some good advice and some bad.
killing swap file doesn't byu yoiu anything. If you have enough RAM, you won't see any swapping.
Disabling memory resident antivirus is not safe. You might get away with it, but you just weakened your security. Just get something that is not a hog the way McAffee and Norton are.
etc, etc...
basically you should not do anything this guide recommends unless you understand what you are doing. But then maybe you didn't need the guide in the first place... -
Hurdle will double your jumping distance both in CJ and SJ.
I would higly recommend you take hurdle instead of swift. -
the biggest drawback with leaping is that you loose Air Superiority.
-
Dark_Bruiser, your build has several powers with 4 identical enhancements, is that on purpose or is this a pre-ED build?
BloodPython, the major problem I see with your build is the lack of travel power. I know it's a personal choice but you are an annoyance to teams when you can't get to the mission fast enough, and lack of vertical movement till late in the game compunds the slow speed.
I was liking your build till I ran the speed numbers.
Quick+swift+sprint is only 25% faster than sprint alone and when combined are still 40% slower than superspeed alone according to my hero planner and half the speed of Quickness+sprint+superspeed.
