from an interview with War Witch at E3, it is still a July release. I know that leaves a week in July to make it a "July" release but this doesn't look promising.
Maybe its just been a long day and my rose colored glasses are all fogged up.... -
This would be the single greatest addition to the game if you would allow Golden Girl to attach that animated tail to her head. POOF...animated hair!!
*I tried to put a winky thing at the end of that but the internet told me they were all taken... -
Quote:all I saw was the bottom of your foot kicking me in the face...so not so much for the looks.Stunny, or stunning, as in my good looks!
I think someone mentioned that the PvP was enjoyable probably because it was without the trash talk that you sometimes see in the zones- I actually don't mind it, sometimes I get a kick out of it. For me, it was more enjoyable because TS was set to OFF (*glares at devs...*). I never gave it too much thought myself, but I really like the fast pace of PvP when there's no travel suppression. Oh well.....
and the lack of travel suppression is HUGE, not sure if heal decay was off as well because my blaster can't heal itself but those are the two things that ruined PvP for me. Kick ball is slowly bringing me back around. -
I have to admit, these have been more fun than I thought they would be and I have gone to three of them so far. Actually started working a little on secodary builds for Kick ball on a couple toons. but I dont like fighting Batz...too stunny
-
WTH! You live in England and drink friggin Budweiser??!?!!! I live in the states and won't touch that crap. Used to love me some Jack Daniels though...ALOT....I have found Captain Morgans a more than suitable substitute in my old age.
-
Woulda been there tonight but just had to watch me some Hockey..next Wednesday looks good though!
-
Sippin on a Schlitz and enjoying a wild finish to a wild game and series...Grats to the Hawks....grats to Philly, that is a durn good team.
Now gimme my Going Rogue!!! Without hockey I am stuck with two craptastic baseball teams and a long, hot summer. -
I was on the second(?) Synapse to finish. We did pretty well given the number of lower level characters. I went from freshly level 22 at the start to about 2 bubs short of 25 when we got done. Think it took us about 2 and a half hours. Was a fun team with folks that could shrug off when things went a little sideways a couple times.
Good times as always... -
Quote:Agree completely across the board Defenestrator right down to the timeline...looks like you are the same age as me. For all of Bill Wirtz's faults as an owner, I found the virtual dancing in the streets and unbound joy expressed at his death by many fans to be, in a word, disturbing.I'm perfectly okay with our game's population jumping up by 900k and I would welcome new peeps with open arms.
As far as the Blackhawks go, I'm a longtime suffering fan. I was only 5 years old when they last WON A GAME in the finals (in 1975) and the last time they won the cup was nearly 50 years ago. In the 90s, I watched them make a number of playoff runs with a good, young group of players, only to see those very same players traded away or cast off into free agency because Bill Wirtz didn't want to pay any money for them. I remember Jeremy Roenick, a perennial ALL STAR PLAYER getting traded away for Alexei Zhamov and a sack of magic beans. Then Chris Chelios, Mr. Blackhawk his own bad self, was traded to the Red Wings. THE FREAKING RED WINGS! That was the final straw, and I rebelled with lots of other fans. And you know it's bad when your own Hall of Fame players, like Bobby Hull, have been completely alienated by the franchise.
When Bill Wirtz died, I don't think the body was even cold when his son (and current owner) Rocky Wirtz was on the phone with local TV affiliates. The club has put forth a lot of effort to regain the trust of the fans. Even if the team wasn't in the finals, people would have started coming back to the stadium. Bobby Hull has been seen at multiple games up in the press box high-fiving Rocky after every goal. It's awesome. Bill Wirtz could never have engineered anything like this.
(Please note, by all accounts Bill Wirtz was a nice guy. What he didn't spend on the Blackhawks he spent helping out local charities and such. He just wasn't with the times when it came to modern sports franchises.) -
-
Quote:Pierre Pilote!?!? Good heavens we are still explaining freakin offsides to people that are just "here for the party" that has become the Blackhawks season. Decades of of zero local TV presence makes the Blackhawks as close to an expansion franchise as an original 6 team could get. The only games on TV were away games which meant west coast and late start times here in Chicago. The franchise lost an entire generation of fans. If you think marketing is bad here you have no idea how bad it can be.I completely agree with those fans; while no one will begrudge anyone getting happy about their local team being successful, bandwagon fans can be some of the worst of the bunch. It was particularly trying here when Montreal went to the Conference finals and everyone was suddenly a BIG HABS FAN.
Note that I'm *not* a Habs fan in the least but you can be sure that Joe Hab Fan will go back to not knowing a thing about hockey within a week or two. Likewise, I'm sure if you asked half the people in that new Hawks bandwagon who Pierre Pilote was, they'd tell you he was a French airplane pilot.
There *is* a point of pride in being a tried and true fan of a sports team, even a long-suffering sports team such as mine (Go Leafs Go, up in the standings? Please?) because then you can truly enjoy it when things turn around.
All of which makes the revivial just more bitter sweet. Long time fans that refused to patronize a poorly run team are looked down on by people that paid their cash no matter how bad the team was run. The results of the teams success appears to have ruined the enjoyment of that success for those die-hards. I hope that does not happen here if GR turns into a new gloden age for this game.
I hope we don't say "welcome aboard"...just so long as you don't ruin it for the rest of us. -
Quote:Not sure I am making it an issue. Just had an observation about a seperate issue and wondered if we would have a similar issue here. Also, it's not so much that they get to play a "better version of the game". They just get to enjoy a new shiny version of the game without 6 years of growing pains and not so shiny graphics. Some folks might resent that, like the EAT level change. I will not and hope most folks do not. Anyone that jumps on the bandwagon is a good thing in my eyes.Should we really be begrudging toward anyone who shows an interest in the game we hold so dear? So what if they only come for GR? At least they showed up, if only for a month or two. That's their money in NC's pocket, and I thought we wanted new player interest to help keep the train rolling. Why should we be bitter toward anyone who wants to play our game? It's not like bandwagoners get to play a better version of game than the diehards, so why even make it an issue?
-
Quote:I tend to agree and somewhat worry about this.Well, *I* won't, but one should just look at the vitriol and entitlement whine surrounding the recent change dropping EAT unlock to level 20 and assume that it would be like that, times eleventy-billion.
There is something strange about how people feel when the buy a ticket (especially season tickets) much like people express they feel about paying a monthly fee for a game like this. Somehow it gives them an air of ownership and the longer they have had those season tickets or paid for a game the more of an ownership stake they feel they have in the franchise (game or sport).
It creates that hierarchy of vet vs. noob, die hard vs. bandwagon jumper, that I hope does not drive away any new folks that will hopefully be drawn in by GR. The thought process of some of these fans is facinating. They would rather sit in the stadium with those 3500 die hards than share the experience with anyone else.
I wonder how many folks feel that way here. That if people have not found the fun that is this game by now, then they dont want them. Do we have people that want to keep the game all to themselves?? and if so where can we lock them up before GR comes out? -
Before you read too far and get mad that I wasted your time, it's a rainy craptastic day here in Chicago and I have absolutely nothing to do...and this post will likely have no relevance to your life...you have been warned.
Ok, I am sitting here in Chicago listening to a spirited discussion about how the 3500 fans that actually went to Blackhawks games when they sucked are somehow better fans and more deserving of a playoff ticket than anybody else and the fact that they cannot afford a playoff ticket is a crime against humanity. They literally hate/begrudge anyone who wasn't standing in an empty stadium during the "dark days". It's quite entertaining
Nevermind that their old owner, Dollar Bill Wirtz (may he rest in peace), for years refused to show home games on TV because that would not be fair to people who bought season tickets. I have never seen a more hated owner.(Think PvP changes for hate level then times that by 10)
But anyway, this whole bandwagon jumping arguement got me thinking. What if GR becomes City of's Stanley Cup run??? What if we go from 3500 die hards to a packed stadium and 900,000 homes tuned in, in Chicago alone, for game 5.
Will we hate/begrudge all the new comers??? Will we say they do not deserve the goodness of our beloved game because they were not here when things were not so good??
Personally I am hoping for a happy go lucky new comer vid like this one:

Enjoy. -
Good run tonight...7 person Treespec led off the evening and that went so well, 6 of us decided to run a Mantis at +2 x8 and we got through that in 1hr 39 min with only speeding through the boat on the last mish.
Thanks to ArachnoBunny, Sulis, Ms. Veronica, Jheron Crosi, Operative Jax and Ultra Troll for coming out.
See ya all next month...maybe LGTF will be fixed by then... -
Hootenanny returns tonite! Same spider time...same spider spot.
-
Just a few old geezers left in the Revenants but the base has everything you could need red side and thats where we mostly play so you are more than welcome to come hang out. Look me up @Papa Slade or @Papa Slade 2.
and welcome back! -
TT was full of good times as always.
Mothership raid sounds very cool next month. I might even be able to run two tanks that night. Stoner for the MS raid and one of my 4 or 5 baby tanks (lvl12-22ish) that need some love for the rest of TT 69. Can't wait. -
Personally, I am not sure I would clamor for revamps outside of the Shard TF's, some of those are simply not fun. I would prefer to see a couple more added to red side. Outside of the Co-ops there are only 6 TF's red side compared to 15 blue side and that doesn't even get into the lack of trials so I would prefer that to revamps.

My idea is for Galaxy City and ties in some work for Doc Aeon as well.
There needs to be a butcher shop called Galaxy Chops. The Chops stands for Covert Hero Operations. When you enter the shop an NPC says "Welcome to Galaxy Chops. Our meat is out of this world." Another NPC would tell you your order is ready for pick-up and direct you to an elevator that leads to Chops HQ where an NPC contact gives you covert missions to the Rogue Isles and eventually to all parts of the world, if we ever get global city mission maps. You could even have Galaxy Chops franchises in a couple zones but they all lead you to the same HQ.
Something like this that adds a little depth instead of having every NPC contact standing on a street corner would be nice. -
Quote:I may be completely wrong on this but I believe if you "swing" either way you will not have acess to the "potentially superior perks of being purely aligned". Once you swing your cherry is broken and there is no going back to "pure"....but again I may have misunderstood and we will find out later.I think Going Rogue is basically going to make the issue of sides moot. If you meta-game, you could simply swing to Rogue or Vigilante just to play red and blue content, then settle on Villain or Hero for the potentially superior perks of being purely aligned.
back to the topic at hand...
I agree with Zamuel. Simply put, there are two co-op TF's, outside of those there are a grand total of 6 TF's red side while there are 15 available blue side. I understand there is way more filler on blue side as far as regular missions go and that red side will likely never catch up in that regard. The TF disparity, or even lack of trials, is what bothers me.
I think in the future there should be an effort made to bridge the gap as far as Trials and TF's are concerned. I think people that dismiss red side as irrelevant after GR are missing the point. If red side becomes irrelevant I will likely become an ex-player. -
two things...Ace Mace has a kick-*** gaming space and I need to learn how to put a picture in a post.
-
Heard this song while putzin around the yard today and it always makes me thinik of COV:
Stealin' by Uriah Heap.
I can picture the quizzical looks from the youngins. Just look it up and listen. Great Song.
I even have a story arc for MA on paper with a contact named Uriah Gantry that owns a Pawn Shop in Port Oakes called The Heap. I need to finish that thing in the MA one of these days... -
Quote:Holy shnikey's! That is a great idea, especially if it is a new book focusing on the GR story line. I am quite disappointed I did not come up with this idea myself.I know that there are numerous logistical issues involved with this, but you know Free Comic Day? It's self explanatory, really. All the major comic publishers (and some of the less major) give out a free issue to get people interested in their comic books.
I think a similar strategy would work well with CoH. Perhaps a Reprint of one of the classic CoH comics. Or even a brand new one, if you'd like. Comic Book Fans are part of our target audience, after all. Plus, it would be a great way to get people interested in the CoH World.
If you really wanted to make it a neat project you place 3 stories in the free comic day edition. One Preatorian view, one Paragon view, one Rogue Isles view and have each story drawn/inked by 3 winners of a City of Art contest. A free comic day offering drawn by the folks that play the game.
Heck I would even pay for a special edition one shot done that way.
