    Kickball!

I fully intended to try this at least once but for some reason the time scheduled for this event just never really registered for me. It was always over by the time I remembered it was even supposed to happen that day.

    Thank you!

Yes, I attended the Les Nessman school of journalism.
Ok, I admit my brain is a bit addled as of late but was that just a WKRP reference???
  3. Well crap...this sounds cool but I will never get Cyclone Jack to a suitable level by the time this rolls around.
  4. I actually moved a couple heroes and 4 or 5 villains from Triumph to Champion. I did want to clear some space on Tri, but I also liked what I found on Champion when I started attending Tanker tuesday's on a regular basis so I now have 2 servers that fit my style. I pretty much stick to the globals of the server that I am on. If friends want me to switch over for something they just toss out a tell or jump on the vent.

I think the server transfers were great. People got to shop around a bit and take toons they are already invested, in instead of starting from scratch when they got where they wanted to go.

It's simply not reasonable to remove all allies, noncombat hostages and defendable objects.

The success or failure of Mission Architect as a feature is almost entirely dependent on player-generated content. I believe the 4/7 patch discourages (even drives off) many players who use Mission Architect in non-exploitative ways, reducing the Mission Architect fan base and hurting its viability as a feature. I urge you to rollback this change immediately. Replace it with a more targeted fix later on, one that specifically stops the bad behavior without hurting "legitimate" players along with it.
I pretty much agree with PW. The collateral damage done by this patch is tough on some very good arcs. I can't help but thinking, however, that perhaps something was discoverd in I17 testing that if allowed to go live with the current system in place would have been a worse exploit than what we have already seen. With pre-patching already underway, they may have felt this was the best option incase the permanent fix cannot be completed by I17 launch. Pure speculation but something to think about. I am giving Dr. Aeon the benefit of the doubt on this one.

I don't think the devs have any intent on stopping farming or PL-ing. It seems to me they have made it clear what they consider "farmable" material. If you want to run stuff like the Dreck mish on blue side or any number of the TV missions red side. Knock yourself out. They will even let you bump the dif and team size so you dont have to drag a bunch of people with you as fillers. As long as you stay in those fields, plow away and farm to your hearts content.

As I said before, the devs have a vision for AE. Creating a little national park for story tellers where other players can enjoy alternate material than the in game content. The devs repeated actions point to the fact that they do not want that little national park to be clear cut and seeded with player farms. People may not agree with that vision but it seems to be the vision they are going with. Which pretty much makes the yelling back and forth a mute point.
  7. I had the highest hopes for AE when it was released and still do to this day. I have, however, chosen to basically stop playing AE missions and making arcs for myself and friends until I can be more certain that the kinks in the system have been ironed out. I will not ragequit, cry or moan one way or the other.

The Architect, to me, is an absolutely amazing idea/creation/invention. Unfortunately, like a lot of things, you can internally test them for decades and never cover every scenario that the real world will subject your little gem too. Everything, especially technology, evolves and you must be patient and let the things evolve to the point where future change is minimal and for the most part beneficial.

You can debate the devs faith in the player base but I am not sure what more they could have done. They sorta handed the players blank sheets of paper and a box of crayons and said draw all over your piece of paper and share it with everybody. Unfortunately, some players felt since they had the crayons, that the walls, floors, ceilings, windows and small kitchen appliances were all fair game. Now you can't even see the work of the people that stayed on their piece of paper. It has created quite a mess.

I honestly think the mess will get cleaned up. It may take a while. It may take a white wash of the mission bank. It would not surprise me one bit if the devs said "we are making changes x,y,and z to architect", by a certain date. "At that time all published missions will be wiped from the architect. Please save any missions you wish to preserve and simply republish after the wipe." I think it may take more than one round of wipe/publish/new exploits pop up like weeds/correction/repeat.

This system is too important and too complex to perfect without testing on a MASSIVE scale. We are all living through that testing and it seems that some people cannot see that. The devs have a vision of what they want the Architect to be. They are sticking to that vision. I think they will get there and it will be touted for many years as a landmark system other games should aspire to.
  8. I should make it...at least I hope I can. Lots going on this month for some reason =[
  9. It's been a bit hectic since the Hootenanny last Friday but I just wanted to jump on and thank everybody that came out...lost my list of who was there. Had a good time doing a Cap TF/Zombie invasion/Treespec.

Next Hootenanny is Friday May 7th, 8pm central meet by Alan Desslock in Mercy.

If we can get a higher level group put together I wouldn't mind taking a run at an all Veat Barracuda just to change things up a bit.

Join the "Hootenanny" global channel with your Veat to keep up on any changes.

  10. One of the best takes on the Incarnate system I have read described it as similar to a Black Belt in Karate. Level 50 would = Black Belt with the Incarnate levels being the degrees of Black Belt. So your level 50 would still be level 50/Black Belt but you work to become a 1st degree Incarnate/1st Degree Black belt. The original poster explained it better and If I get time later I will try to find it again and link their post.

Now the abilities those Incarnate levels confer on a toon I can only imagine but I for one cannot wait to see the content needed to achieve this. I was holding off on pre-order till I got more info and I think they just sealed the deal.
  11. All I have above lvl 38 Blue side is 2 Blasters and a scrapper....so I guess I am bringing damage.
  12. There is nothing to see here. Ignore this black panel van as it merges onto I-80 and the music eminating as it drives by:

    East Bound and Down
    Loaded up and Truckin
We're gonna do what they say can't be done

The Devs have left their west coast bunker
So we're gonna throw'em in my clunker
We'll bring'em to Chicago no matter what it takes!

    East bound and down
    Loaded up and truckin
we're gonna do what they say can't be done
We got a long way to go and a short time to get there
We're east bound just watch ole Papa run

We got Mt.Dew and slim jims
We didn't do this on a whim
It's midwest meet and greet no matter what it takes!

    East bound and down
    Loaded up and truckin
We're gonna do what they say can't be done
We got a long way to go and a short time to get there
We're east bound just watch ole Papa run

Remember, Chicago meet and greet at undislcosed location...stay tuned for details...

P.S. My apologies to Jerry Reed
  13. Just a reminder bump.

The next Hootenanny is Friday April 2nd, 8pm Central. Meet by Alan Desslock in Mercy.
  14. I would definately give a sewer trial a run. Only tried it once and we had a couple folks that didnt grasp the concept of team work till much too late...I haven't been back since.

Im hoping to get an event going on our server within the month , ill let yins know .
First I would like to wish Specta_Phantom the best of luck in creating an actual PERC presence here on Triumph. It seems more than a few have tried already.

I do have a suggestion since there seems to be no news of a PERC event to post yet. Perhaps a good place to start would be a server calender (Champion server seems to have a nice one) to showcase the events that already happen here on Triumph on a regular basis and events that are trying to grow some interest.

I am thinking of things like Kickball, the weekly Mother Ship Raids, people that run regularly scheduled taskforce events, Arachnos' Friday Night Jamboree and Hootenanny's, and I believe there are regular master of ITF runs.

There are lots of events already happening on this server that can get lost in the string of threads or their next scheduled run can get lost in the thread itself. The calenders seem like an efficient organizing tool.

    Just a thought...
  16. Thanks to all the TT regs for the Triumph reload and thanks to everybody that came out. Between the 1hr 8min all Tank Manti and the PI scanners I almost dinged twice with my Shield/Mace.

These are always a good time. Not sure if I will come up with a new build for the Victory run but I will definately see ya all for the next run on Champion.
  17. I like the theory of this very much. I think that working it like a zone event could be viable. An alert is sent out for teams of heroes to report to the (insert zone) security chief. Given the gravity of the situation, the Security chief may require you to have a team of "X" number assembled before he will send you into the riot.

I am torn on whether to have multiple teams on one map or send each team to the train and give them their own instance to cut down on lag.

I also think you could include the Trolls in the groups used for this.

Red side you might be able to substitute the Snakes, Coralax, DE, Wailers and Arachnids. You could have an uprising/infestation that needs to be put down with arachnos hiring villain thugs to do the work. Shakes would be in Mercy, Coralax would be in PO and Shark, DE in Nerva, Wailers in St. Martial and Arachnids in Grandville.

Imagine a large area of the Isles with Coralax coming up out of the water onto every shore. Or Arachnids pouring out of every hole in the ground or sewer cover in the seedier parts of Grandville. Actually now that I think about it, I would probably use the Infected in Mercy instead of the snakes...most folks get tired of the snakes in Mercy. Wailers over running the Casinos in St. Martial.

A lot of potential fun in this idea...

In 99h59m59s! Wewt for us! :^)

We hit a couple of hiccups in the 2nd half. Our 2 fire/kins weren't around (although one of them did come back for the last 1/4 of it, which was very helpful), and 1 scrapper (my buddy Mikey from Philly) was out due to his girl needing to go to the ER. Nothing TOO serious, just something managed to get in her eye (insert crass joke here) and she had to go get it looked at.

So, for about half of the 2nd half, we were a 5 man group with zero support and not much damage, attempting to hit groups of Rularuu and Nemesis that were set for 8. Eep!

But hey, we got it done-then a bunch of us went off to take part in UltraTroll's St. Patty's Moonfire Race (which we had delayed considerably while we finished Doc Q-sorry, UT!).

Overall, it went...okay. Not horrible, but I do think splitting it may have been a mistake. I think I'll try to stick to tf's for the next couple of weeks that can be done in one reasonable sitting (see next post for next tf!).
It really only took us about 4.5 - 5 hours of actual play time, even with the short handed team for part 2, so I was pretty good with that considering it was my first Dr. Q and I had heard some real horror stories about it. I think splitting it is a great way to do it. If the full team would have come back we would have cruised through the second half.

As it was we still did pretty well for 2 tanks, a scrapper, a PB and an Arch/Dev Blaster with the kin sprinkled in at the end.
  19. For some reason, I really enjoy beating the crap out of the kids in red and white. All my villains do time in the PvP zones to get me my Longbow fix when I have not come across them in a mission for a while.

    Electric armor

Well, from my limited experience, Tanker armors will out perform Brute armors just on principle so electric armor on a tank will be more survivable but some more info on your previous issues with the electric armor set would be helpful.

I actually like it on brutes. I have a lvl 50 SS/Elec that is a blast to play. He resists 90% Energy, 60% Smashing and Lethal, 50% psi and about 40% everything else. The recharge combination of quick reflexes and hasten (with a little set bonus help, no purps) allows him pretty much spam foot stomp and knock-out blow as well as keeping the new heal up often. He has zero end issues with power sink and runs Tough in place of the fuzzy bear/insta death crash Tier 9 power. He chews up Malta, Carnies and Rikti. Really a fun toon to play.

Each armor set has its perks and the ones that have a "bad rap" usually just have the most vocal group of people that want different perks and since that armor doen't have those perks it "sucks".

As far as Ice goes, it has its own rap as the lowest damage set for tanks. I do have a Fire Armor/Ice but it is still in the low levels so I will defer to folks that know more than me.
  21. RIP: The Sod Father, level 27 Plant/Earth assault Dom.

Whacked on Sunday to make room for: The Wizard of Wuhan currently level 9 Grav/Psi Dom

One of my main toons, Sebastion Slade, went through a couple iterations making it to 28-32 as a Spines/Regen stalker and an Ice/Ice Corr before becoming my first VEAT (Widow) and fastest toon I have every gotten to 50.
  22. You can definately get by with 3 teams but a fourth usually just sorta appears after the raid starts and word gets out.

If I can get logged on that early I will bring my SS/Electric Brute. He loves punching Rikti and is real good at shagging the mobs from the edge down into the bowl when the fight finally gets there. He cleared about 450 merits on Ultrabatzs' impromptu raid tonight and a couple hundred more would always be nice.

    Kickball!

I suppose it's worth a try. We used to do something like this alot as an SG event back in the day but the PVP changes killed all that. Not even sure what I would bring. Heal decay killed the toons I had the most fun with for PvP.

Is there a special prize for getting picked last???
  24. Ok this sounds very cool and I might be able to make the CC afterwards (if I can decide who gets dressed like a Leprechaun) but the 2nd half of Dr. Q starts at 7 PM Central so I don't see how I can make the Moonfire at the same time. Although, I have two comps and have been know to play 2 toons at once just not on seperate teams/TF's.

So hopefully we get done in time for the CC.
