    Ignore this..

Assault Rifle, especially when paired with Energy Manipulation, is one of the best AOE blaster sets out there.

The synergy between AR & EM is amazing.

Assault Rifle gives you 3 cone attacks: Buckshot, Flamethrower & Full-Auto. Combined with perma Boost Range, the cones cover a huge area, easily allowing you to hit the target cap with every attack.

Full-Auto is a fast recharging tier 9, that is up every 30 seconds or less.

EM gives you Build-Up as early as level 4.

EM has extremely hard hitting melee attacks, which makes up for the somewhat mediocre single-target damage of AR. Ignite is handy against AV's if they are kept generally stationary.

Bean Bag & Total Focus allows you to stack stuns to quickly neutralize boss-rank enemies. For even more fun with stuns, you can add in Power Boost from Energy Manipulation.

I've lost count of the purple drops I've gotten running the wall in Cimerora with my AR/EM blaster, where he usually runs laps around scrappers, brutes and tankers..

I'm at work right now, but I will post a build later on when I get home..

For STF I can swap out to my FF Defender.. Caging the red tower with Detention Field tends to cut down on the insta-kill factor just a bit.

So, in 29 trials and weeks of running those trials, you haven't gotten any Empyrean merits at all? Hmm... Perhaps you should report that to support, as that sounds like a bug.

It takes two common components + one rare component + the tier 2 to create a tier 3 Incarnate power. It costs 8 Emp merits to create a rare component. Therefore, at two trials per day, no matter how bad the luck is with drops, a player can slot up a tier 3 power in four days of playing about one hour per day.

That does not equate to "NOT getting ANYTHING I need to advance" as you put it..

It's not supposed to be easy to 'purple out' a character. It is intended to be a goal that requires significant investment of time & effort. I know some very hard core players. Not one of them have "tons of purpled out characters".

You don't need purples or PvP IO's to have a solid IO build.

I've been playing for over 3 years and have three characters that I would call 'purpled out'. You want the absolute best loot in the game. It is not going to be easy or effortless to get. The problem here rests entirely with your expectations..

So, basically you want top tier builds kitted out with the best possible loot, but don't want to put in the effort to get them..

There is absolutely no need for purple and pvp recipes to be so expensive. It's not like it would break the game if purple sets were accessible...
Why does the concept of VERY-RARE seem to be so hard for some players to grasp?

This was when warshades still required a level 50 character. If I recall correctly the guy who was doing the complaining had only been playing for a couple months, and already had a level 50 of something and a level 50 warshade that was IOed out (just not purpled). It was ridiculous because achieving that much that fast is pretty much the opposite definition of "casual player".

It's a simple fact that some things are just meant for the hardcore players who have lots of time to spend on the game. If everything was easy enough to get that the guy who only plays a couple hours a week could have it in a couple weeks, those hardcore players would have no goals to strive for because they would have gotten it all in a day or two.

Yes, Tier 4 abilities are expensive and/or time consuming. They are SUPPOSED to be. The tier 4 abilities are the hallmark of the hardcore player, that is exactly WHY they don't confer that much additional benefit.

If you have a character that got all their Incarnate slots to tier 4 within a few weeks, well, you can't really call yourself a casual player anymore, because getting to that point that fast means you played a LOT over those few weeks.

I wouldn't really care if they reduced the cost of crafting them, but complaining because they aren't easy to get is just ridiculous. Why should the highest level of power of the highest level abilities in the game be an easy thing to achieve? And futhermore, why should every single player in the game be entitled to those things without having to work towards them?

I'm in agreement with Arcanaville on this one. If they made tier 4 easier to get, it's all but guaranteed the devs would introduce a tier 5 that is hard to get, and if they made THAT easier to get, they'd introduce a tier 6.

Some things are just not meant for everyone in the game to have easy and equal access to them. If we WERE meant to have easy and equal access....well, they probably wouldn't have used the term VERY RARE to name them, now, would they?
I can't agree more with this. Reaching tier 4 on all Incarnate abilities is essentially equivalent to 'purpling out' a character with IO's. It is a process that requires a significant amount of time, effort and/or influence. It is not intended to be something that can be casually achieved overnight.

Anyone complaining about not being able to reach tier 4 in a couple weeks, on even one character, let alone all their 50's, has unrealistic expectations. Any fault for this rests solely with the player, not with the development team.

Welcome to the game! That's pretty much exactly the way I felt when I started playing..

Looks like everyone else has addressed most of your questions, so I will limit myself to suggesting you check out the Mentor Project, which is listed in my signature. It's a totally volunteer effort by vet players that are there to assist and answer questions for new & returning players.

There is a global chat channel with mentors available pretty much 24 hours per day, every day.

    Good luck!

Are you looking at the 2 rare recipes or just the uncommon one? The rares sell for anywhere from 2 million up to 30 million generally. Although, they can be purchased fairly cheap with a bit of patience, especially when bidding on the ones below level 20.

There is a new UI to help track all these people, and you can do things like choose certain people to focus on--to watch them in a separate pane--so you can keep track of the health of the Tanks and Brutes, for example.
Coming next: Aggro and DPS meters, plus when queueing for teams players will get to pick their role: Tank, Healer or DPS!
