Do you think they could add a secondary damage such as energy or something like that to help with the resist smashing later in game? I'm working on a Grav/Thermal and solo he's slow but do-able, however, teaming up with him, I am able to hold and immob, but I find myself more support with healing and shields. As stated many times before, propel just lets me smash already defeated bodies. Shorter animation would be a big help.

I was kinda messing with it in Mids. I'd let Local Man guide you down the slotting and picking of Illusion. He really knows his stuff. I was just picking the powers to see if you could get a build out of your need for Leadership powers. You could fit them in just fine. I personally wouldn't skip O2 boost as it has a good wake up kick to it for both team mates and pets if they get held, slept or any other mez. Hurricane and Thunder Clap are personal choices. I tend to skip them in a tight build, but they can really help in certain instances. The slotting and selections are up to you, although I'd try to get Freezing Rain in when you can. It's a good debuff and will help out a team greatly but be ready to watch them scatter a bit if they're not falling down when you use it. It will cause a slow run from the power. Without an aoe immobolize, you may want to take flash, but again, Local Man would be able to help you out more with that. I also took the fire epic for consume. With all those toggles running, you may need to be topped off on your endurance from time to time.
It can be done, but it's up to you as to how you want to do it.
Hope it helps!

Quote:I have not seen the non-musical one. But the musical was one I went to with friends alot as a teen. Rocky Horror and Little Shop were like cult movies for us back then. It was awsome! I'll have to dig up the original one online and see if I can get a chance to watch it. It'd be interesting to see it.Well, I happen to own the DvD of the movie, and our nearby amateur theatre did the play about 1.5 years ago.
The musical is even funnier if you have watched the original low budget schlocky movie that it was based on . . . a movie that just happens to feature the first on-screen performance of Jack Nicholson, as a masochistic patient of a sadistic dentist. The original, non-musical Little Shop of Horrors was one of those movies that is so bad, it is good.
Quote:And there's a pretty good chance that I may be older than you . . . -

Quote:LOL - Oh My GOD! I totally forgot about that show. Wow, the memories are flooding back.....Did you see Little Shop of Horrors? The plant is named the "Audrey II" or "Twoey," but is clearly male with that voice. And, my oh my, that Plant can sing! (However, I have seen the play version where the voice of the Plant was done by a female.)
Good Times for Sure !
You've put a smile on an old mans face..... -

I was dusting off my Stone / Sonic troller and found that the animation has changed. It used to be that the mob would freeze in place with its arms in the air and the blank stare facing the sky. Now when I use Fossilize, they stand there and bob around like they're stunned.
That makes me sad. -
I had noticed it too. I just figured with mission door pointers in bricks showing up in the middle of the street and Freak feet hanging through the overhang of the AE building, it was one more bug that needed to be fixed.

I know I've been asking a few questions this week, but since I16, I'm finding things rather odd. One thing I've had an issue with is my dismiss pet macro. It used to work just fine, but now that my pet is following me outside after a mission I'm getting a "pet not targeted" message even though I have him/her (I can never tell the sex of a fly trap) in my target selection. I'm using the standard ($$petcom dismiss). Is there a different command that would work to over come my ignorance? (Specific to this problem as opposed to my over all ignorance.)

I have played every type of toon out there. I have a level 50 Ice / Storm Controller and a level 50 Bots / Traps Mastermind. My favorite is controller though. I've made tons of trash characters ( create - play - delete ) I just wanted to try out different playstyles, support / attack styles with no real serious direction for any of them. I took about a year off of CoH/CoV from 8/08 to 7/09. Now I'm focused on playing my Plant/Storm to 50. I still get side tracked from time to time, but it is short lived and I'm back on my Plant troller right quick.

I actually got to duo with an Ill / Emp last night. We were running radio missions at +2, x2 and I was very impressed. Two controllers as it was can do great, but it was awsome to see her in action. I took a look at her build, and seriously, I could run that solo or teamed. She was very well balanced between powers. I'm going to team up with a Fire / Ill tonight over on Virtue for a few hours to see how that one looks too. I seriously see me making every combo there can be with Controllers at this point. I just hope I don't run out of slots.
What is the max characters one account can have anyway? -

Howdy All,
Things are moving along with my plant/storm build and all the other little alts out there across the servers. I am now looking at a new build that would include Empathy as it's secondary. I've really enjoyed the other secondaries and have really found /Storm my favorite. I figured it was time to bring something online with an Empathy secondary.
I plan on running it as both solo and teaming. I'll create a dual build so I can switch between the two, when solo, I'll focus on damage attacks and when teamed, more toward support. I'm just stuck on what primary would best work. I have all three vet attack powers (Black Wand, Nemesis Staff, Sands of Mu) so until I get a few primary powers under my belt, I'll still be able to do some damage. My build will also include Air Super for the additional damage again helping in the lower levels. I'm not quite at 60 months for travel powers at lvl 6, but I'm so close, like another month or two.
The three I'm looking at are :
1) Illusion
Solo - High damage, aggro control at 18 with PA, Invis, Phantom to use buffs on at 32.
Team - Group Invs for stealthing and defense, PA to help when no tank is around and scrappers can use some cover, Good single target hold, Good AoE hold, Good Single Target damage.
2) Fire
Solo - AoE Stuns, Single Target Hold, Single Target Immob, AoE Immob, Acc Debuff from Smoke, Damage from Hot Feet, Pets that can be buffed (timer may only allow one or two to get major buff ).
Team - Acc Debuff, AoE Hold, AoE Immob, Pets to add damage, AoE Stun.
3) Earth
Solo - AoE Debuffs / Slows, Knockback / Knockup, AoE Immob, AoE Hold, Single Target Hold, Single Target Immob, Pet that can be buffed.
Team - AoE Debuffs / Slows, Knockback / Knockup, Pet that can tank. Holds and Immob that -Defenses to help party.
I'm finding it hard to choose. Any one of them will work great. Not to mention the others, like Grav, Plant, Ice and Mind. AUGH!!!! So many options, I can't decide.
What have you paired with /Emp ? -
Quote:I've been messing around with it some what. I don't have hard number, but I found that setting -1 / x3 no boss, no AV faster than 0 / x1 with boss, no AV. That is based on radio missions in bricks against Freaks, Councle, Skyraiders and Arachnos at level 34 through 36. I skipped the safeguard missions and just ran the radio part. I don't have the xp per hour as I'm not running Herostats unitl they have stable version out for update. I'll revisit it again once I can run Herostats.Im just curious from a mathematical stand point. If I set the difficulty of my missions to -1, meaning the enemies are 1 level lower than me but also meaning that I can just blow through these missions, would I level up faster or slower than if i did more difficult missions but it took me longer to do them.
I kind of like the speed of doing -1's but I wonder if I do it long term how much slower it will be to get me to 50. -
Quote:I know I'm a couple of days late on this post, but I totally feel that the player is so much more important. You can have the "perfect" team make-up and if you have a real bad player, it's not going to amount to a hill of beans. A good player is going to make any toon play well. Some missions may be a bit tuffer, but a well sync'ed group is going to over come many hardships during the course of a mission.I already know how I feel on this, but after a conversation I had tonight, I would like to hear the opinions of various Championites.
When building a team, which do you believe is more important when it comes to team performance? Team make-up or the player behind the toons?
While both are at least relevant, I feel like the player is much more important than the toon. I could cite examples, but I want to hear opinions before I do that. Feel free to defend your position if you want, but overall I'm just wondering which is the general consensus.
(Too bad we're not allowed to start polls, does anyone know if I can contact someone like Mod08 to get one set up?) -
Quote:I love my Ice / Storm Controller. He is my main and the first one to 50. The set is an easy set to use too. I've solo'ed a lot on him and I still farm once in a while with him. Jack Frost has improved too. He's much more melee friendly then he was a couple of years ago and will use both range and melee, much more balanced. I havn't played /cold yet, but I'll be getting in to is soon enough. I'm sure you'll enjoy the control set.Ive been playing for about 15 months and ive only seen a handfull of ice controllers. Is the set not very good or is it just old news or what?
Im in the process of leveling up an ice/cold and i find the combo very fun, not as fun as my Ill/Rad, but still fun.
Sooooo whats the deal?
I am not on him much because of my alt'ism, but he still sees action. It may be one reason you don't see many of them. You may also see a lot more Fire / Kin running around for the farming and the Ice control is working on their day job badges. -

Quote:I agree with this. I have a lvl 50 Ice / Energy Tank and I love having help from PA. Knockback isn't an issue unless it's on the mob I'm working down. And that isn't a problem because I have both Chillbane and Block of Ice from my Epic Pool just for those peskie runners. Even well before epic powers though, I've never had an issue with a runner or knockback. I remember setting auto follow a lot of times when I knew KB was going to be part of the group mix. In most cases, they come running back to the tank once they get up anyway (as long as the tank is managing aggro well). This tank may just be jealous that as an Ill/Rad you can tank better than he can. My Ill/Rad normally pushes aside slow tanks and just kills the mobs by myself. This guy really doesn't know what he is missing.
He may be one of those tanks that just like to sit in one spot and hit with little effort.
Don't let it get you down. -
Quote:I won't get it started I promise. As far as the reward deprivation from deceive..........oh boy, here we go. Read LocalMan's guide or search for one of the many times this comes up in the forums.
This link will take you to one of the more recent board discussions. It covers everything and then some. Hold onto your undies and take a read.

I've run Dual Box a few times prior to level pact. I would run with fire / kin and use my wife's grav / rad and just leave her on auto heal running behind me. My fire / kin would do all the work and add extra heals when needed. I'd use her account more for buff/debuff and auto heal. We have two computers to do this with (desktop & laptop) which made it easy to leave her targeted on me and just use a keystroke here or there for extra holds or set debuff. Since level pact, I just get to play twice as hard for half the exp.
Some controller builds that we've used were (Fire / Kin attack with Grav / Rad support(from above)),(Earth / Sonic attack with Ice / Storm support), (Illusion / Trick Arrow attack with Mind / Emp support)
(I've also found that tank / defender, scrapper / controller, master mind / corruptor all work well too. ) -
I have always tried to avoid bringing out my pet on the streets. With a mastermind, you can control their aggression, but with a controller pet, once they're by you, they can go and aggro a group that wanders or is standing too close to you. It's ok in low level zones, but if I'm in a zone with +5, not so good.
I do like bringing my pet out of a mission with me though. I've had a few door suprises in Bricks and letting my pet take the heat from +5 mobs while I do a quick get away is kind of nice. Once safe or if the door is clear on exit, I'll dismiss my pet and head to the next spot I need to go. It's easier for me not to have my pet dragging a mob behind it when it arrives.
I'd like to be able to make it invisible or like the sig & phantom, fly with me. I've used group fly but I've lost my pet so many times as it falls to the ground I've just left it tucked away until I'm in a mission or need it for an ambush.
For me - It's nice to know that if I need my pet, it's going to be there for me on zoning.
How do you like this new feature? -
I am still here. I did the beta testing on CO and cancelled my preorder.
CoH / CoV is my first and only!
