The mag is reduced to 3 because there are 3 other stun powers in the set which stack for it, plus Power Boost which doubles the duration of all of them, alowing for a much higher potential mez mag than any other blaster secondary.
Controllers don't have a 100% chance of one shot mezzing a boss, why should blasters?

There are a lot of reasons. Do a search the Blaster, Brute, Stalker, and Tanker forums. If you find less than 1,000 instances of someone laughing at someone else because they took a powerset other than Energy Melee/Assault/Manipulation, I would be extremely surprised.
Datamining shows a significant skewing of the populace using these powersets, leading us to ask why? The answer is the same reason the posters were laughing at other sets: it's too good.

36? Just 2 levels of Light Form!
The trick is to not have many attacks on the human form (I have 4), but to take Hasten and slot sets for recharge. This also means you can have light form up as often as possible.
Dwarf form is useful without its attacks slotted (the attacks are rubbish anyway). Just slot the form, the heal, and the taunt if you intend to tank for the team. -
Wouldn't it be easier for support to just wipe all MotD?
-
WSs involve even more flicking between forms than PBs.
I would just drop the nova form on your PB. With a good build you can do fair damage in human form. -
Paragon City has remarkably clear air compared to London or Manchester.

The draw distance is variable. You can set that in the graphics settings. You can increase it if you have a powerful machine.
The fog has nothing to do with performance, it is there for atmosphere only. Some zone have lots of fog (Dark Astoria), some zones are huge and have none (Shadow Shard).
I don't know what your machine is like, but on mine Talos seems rather lacking in fog for a typical seaside place. -
Oh the shields, BAB is quite open about working on them, but a "release date" has not been confirmed. Issue 13 seems very likely though.

I'm sure the main reason the Devs used bits of Shadow Shard terrain tilesets for Ouroborous is the same reason they used it for outside Pocket D - because it was the easiest way to show you're in another dimension with the minimum amount of extra artist time required.
I wouldn't speculate too much beyond that, tbh - for starters we don't know enough about Pocket D or Ouroborous from in-game lore - or about the Shadow Shard for that matter.

not everyone is like you or me.
[/ QUOTE ]
Absolutely, which was the point I was trying to make. Peaple are motivated by different things, and you are never going to be able to design a mission editor that appeals to all of them.
However, alowing full rewards has the potential to kill the live game, so unless the devs are very very stupid they aren't going to take that path.
So creating a mission editor that suits the storytellers is a better option, and has the potential to attract in the quite considerable number of NWN players who spend most of thier time in the powerful mission creator.
Already in CoX, there are many players who spend much of thier play time in the costume editor, despite there being no xp, inf or other phat l00t available there, I don't see why player created content would be any different. -
If you don't like the depth of field you can turn it off. What is your problem?
Personally, I don't know any eye or optical device that can focus on nearby and distant objects at the same time.
As for the fog, it is set quite low, In a zone like Talos I would like a thick sea fog to come in sometimes, as you would expect. Variable fog, as the start to weather effects, I would like to see.
In fact, that's all the fog is a graphical effect to add atmosphere and realism, it isn't tied to the draw distance, which is set seperately.
Maybe what you really want is an increase in the maximum draw distance alowed in the graphics settings? This has already been increased once, so it could be increased again to alow more powerful machines to benefit. -

Working by the same logic as the others doesnt that make Willpower just as specific?
[/ QUOTE ]
Willpower is probably the least specific defence set out there.

Surely you decide your origin on how you got your powers and when your hero orignally became a hero?
[/ QUOTE ]
You would go by your powersets at the point when your character hit Breakout/Outbreak.
The problem with this idea is not just that its to specific to an origin, it's also to specialised within that origin. You see many players with Mako's shark powers? No. That's because there are very few characters which fit well with concept of being able to summon spirit sharks.
And take away the descriptions and what do you have? Just another def/res/regen set. What would the graphical effects be to give it a unique look? If I did want to create a technological character with a high tech looking defence set I would want glowing force fields, hovering drones and similar things, but implants and nanites would be invisible. -
No. Keldians haven't really changed much since soon after they where added (when they got an inherent -resistance removed).

From the few (very minor) hints we've had so far, the missions themselves will be hosted online and downloadable to play, but I am pretty darn certain that you will need to be logged in to the servers to actually play them.
[/ QUOTE ]
There are a couple of ways to do it. One would be to host the user created content on a dedicated server. You could copy your live character, or level up a character on the UCC server, but you wouldn't be able to copy a character from the UCC server to live, or play live missions on the UCC server. -
Basically, if they do allow full rewards, xp grinders, inf farmers and badge hunters will have no reason to play the live game. Cue deserted servers and the death of the game.

The majority of players play for xp and inf

Who gave you the right to speek for "the majority"? You mean YOU.

Take joining someone else on a mission: how often do you read their dialogue?

Whenever I get the chance, always if it is one I haven't done before.

There's a point where you know enough about the story to stop reading "because the butler did it" as you've already read the ending.
[/ QUOTE ]
No one is suggesting that you play the same player created mission over and over again. With enough creative players you could get a new story every day.
[ QUOTE ]
players who are still obsessed with inf and xp won't play
[/ QUOTE ]
so, they won't play. Why should I care? Players who like stories will create stories for other players who like stories. Players who don't like stories can go grind newspaper missions.
[ QUOTE ]
Otherwise I'll just stick with badgehunters the next time someone offers the Paragon Protector's map heroside or wait till there's a lv50 Overseer hunting party.
[/ QUOTE ]
Sure, that's fine, why not. Not everyone needs to do player created missions. -

In fact, should Pool Powers in general be usuable in forms?
[/ QUOTE ]
So you going to tell BAB he has to do an animation for Jump Kick in nova form? -
[ QUOTE ]
Indeed. Is why this really should come with dual Origins.

You just go with the one that makes the greatest contribution. -
The helmets are the 51 month VR. the collectors edition gives a chest logo as well as the cape.

Generic sets are preferable because they leave more room for player creativity. They are more flexable. The developers get more bang for thier buck by developing sets that will be useful to a wide number of players than by developing very specialised sets.
Having very specific sets also tends to produce a lot of very similar characters with similar costumes and simliar backstories. This is an issue with both types of EAT, but is natuarally limiting by making the EAT unavaliable to a significant number of players. -
1) You read novels as a form of entertainment, you play games as a form of entertainment.
2) You pay money for novels, you pay money for games.
If "story" is sufficient motive to read a book, or watch a movie, why should it be insuffient motive to play a game?
You can also buy books of puzzles. You do them for the challenge, there is no loot. If challenge is motive enough to buy a puzzle book, why should it be insuffient motive to play a game? -
[ QUOTE ]
Some people might play them just for the story, but most won't.

Because no one ever read a novel just for the story... -

The swiss-army-gun that is the Assault Rifle powerset does seem a bit past the 'ordinary gun' threshold, assuming you take more than two or three powers. <.<
[/ QUOTE ]
It could be as standard issue Longbow gun though. If your character would be equally good if they picked up any rifle, then they are natural. If they need thier special gun, they are tech.
[ QUOTE ]
Also, define powerless? Anyone can punch, but he certainly wouldn't punch nearly as effectively without having his fists wrapped in negative energy.
[/ QUOTE ]
Normal citizen level. Even level 1 Hellions use magical trinkets to boost thier abilities above those of an avarage human.
Another way to look at it, if a hapless citizen put on the magic braclets, would they able to use them effectively? If yes, origin is magic, but if they are only effective if the user already has considerable skill and training, then origin is natural. -
Yup, Cass_ is absolutely right.
Personally, I would play a rewardless mission, if it was interesting, whereas a newspaper type mission that gave rewards, I wouldn't bother with. -
Did you zone? Sometimes a power effect can be applied multiple times if you cross zones.

Ah, the age-old debate on whether using a gun makes a Natural character Tech
[/ QUOTE ]
Which is a non-debate, since the in game descriptions of the origins makes it quite clear that if the gun is an ordinary gun/any gun, with which the character is exeptionally skilled, then their origin should be natural. However if the gun is a special gun, and invention or prototype, then thier origin is tech. If the gun had mystic runes on the barral to make it more powerful and acurate thier origin would be magic.
[ QUOTE ]
Friend of mine has a Dark Melee/Ninjutsu Stalker that has these special bracelets that channel negative energy from the Netherworlds. His origin is Natural, though I would've picked Magic myself. He says he chose Natural because, all things considered, he's still just punching people in the face like any other ninja (well, any other ninja who prefers hand-to-hand combat to cutting people open with a katana), just with a bit of added damage from the bracelets, and the Ninjitsu powers are purely from ninja-training.
[/ QUOTE ]
Again, the game is quite clear. If the character is able to function without his magic bracelets, in the same way as the Batman can function without his gadgets, origin is natural. If the character is rendered powerless without his magic braclets then origin is magic.
