Havn't you noticed there are no Churches/mosques/synagogues in Paragon City or the Rogue Isles.
Religeon is controversial in Europe. It is much much more so in the US. -
I think it needs to be more like this:
Thorn Blast
1) Thorny Darts
2) Thorny Pikes* (slow, Lethal/Toxic)
3) Fling Thorns
4) Thorn Burst
5) Aim
6) Thorn Spear* (Lethal/Toxic Sniper)
7) Impale
8) Thorn Barrage
9) Thorn Explosion* (lethal/toxic PBAoE DoT)
Plant Manipulation
1) Entangle
2) Skewer
3) Quills^
4) Spore Burst
5) Build Up
6) Spirit Tree
7) Thorntrops
8) Ripper
9) Carron Creeper (weakened version) -
[ QUOTE ]
Its basically like rain of arrows, only you fire up a whole bunch of thorns that will land on the ground or enemy and shatter into splinters to cause extra damage
[/ QUOTE ]
I know what you meant, bt it doesn't work for me conceptually, pbaoe would be much more apropiate. -
Energy Manipulation has Power Boost and Boost Range, but even 6 attacks is rather a lot on top of a primary which is all attacks. You have 8 out of 9 powers which are attacks - 16 attacks is way to many for any build.
-
Indeed, there is no need to pause to switch. you can even use a keybind if you want really instantainous gear changing.
-
Elude is indeed just melee/ranged/aoe defence.
However, the only Fortunata attacks that will bypass this are Dominate and Total Domination.
However, in PvP they say LOL-Defence, bcause it is easy to overcome with to-hit buffs like Aim, Mind link and CT: Offensive. -
Sure, I'm not so sure about "Rain of Thorns" though? Shouldn't the thorns originate from the character - i.e. be a pbaoe nuke?
Are there any Plant Control powers that could be borrowed for Thorn Manipulation? It's all a bit attack heavy IMO. -
Most attacks are flagged as having both a damage type (e.g. psionic) and a position (melee/range/aoe). Which ever defense is highest is used.
However there are a few psionic attacks that aren't flagged as melee/range/aoe. In this case your ranged defense will be ineffective against that attack.
However, I believe Psionic Dart is not one of the exceptions, your ranged defence will work against it. -

Its not entirely defense based now is it.

And the resistances aren't entierly rubbish (Easily capped Cold resistance).
Personally, I have no doubt Shannon is an excellent tanker, better than me certainly, and personnaly, I would always take Taunt (but not at level 20). However, I just think it is wrong to judge players based on thier power choices, without seeing them play.
Maybe a skilled tank without taunt will only be 80% as efficient at a skilled tank with taunt. However, the object of the game is to have fun, and CoX is a very easy game: everyone at 100% effciency 100% of the time is not required for fun. -

All scrappers have Confront in their primaries. How many actually take it? Would you say "I won't team with a scrapper without confront?".
[/ QUOTE ]
I have scrappers with confront. Ofc I love to tank AVs with it. No AT is needed remember. Its adds flexibility.
[/ QUOTE ]
Yeah, Confront is very useful, we could have done with it yesterday on the ITF where we had trouble seperating the healing essence for Rom with Taunt, since it kept hitting both AVs.
the point is Confront is a primary power for all scrappers, but no one says a scrapper is incoplete without it, so taunt being a secondary for all tankers does not imply that all tankers should have taunt. -
[ QUOTE ]
I'm rolling anything from 15% - 66%.
[/ QUOTE ]
Those are hits. Its rolls of 96+ that are misses.
Also, watch out for the streakbreaker. -
[ QUOTE ]
Tankers do not just take Taunt so they can get a team
[/ QUOTE ]
Some do. Not many, but it happens. Simply having Taunt in thier power list is not an indicator that someone will be a good tanker.
[ QUOTE ]
Taunt is useful
[/ QUOTE ]
Sure it's useful if it's used effectively.
But their are 8 other powers in the tankers secondary, and they are all useful too.

Why quote Mag at all?
If Mag is just there to represent a binary flag why do some powers have mag 3 some mag 4?
[/ QUOTE ]
Because prior to November 2007 the devs didn't know how taunt worked. It is a redundant flag attached to the power in the database that does nothing. "Show details" is bugged, as it shows Taunt enhancers enhancing mag not duration. The dev who wrote the "Show Details" code (Poz I think) probably doesn't know how Taunt works. It's far from the only bug in "Show Details".
Look at "Combat Attributes". Look for Taunt Protection. What! It's not there!?? That's because taunt doesn't have a Magnatude. It can, however, be resisted, which reduces it's duration. -

Having taunt is not useful.
[/ QUOTE ]
Id have to disagree with you there. Unless one is being particularly pedantic in which case you could say no power is useful (bar passives) because you could not use it. Or, use it incorrectly.
But taunt IS useful, unless you wish to say that every hold, immobilise, stun, sleep, knockback, damage, debuff, fear, confuse, and pet power is also not useful.
[/ QUOTE ]
But a lot of people don't use Taunt. They just take it because it makes it easier for them to get a team. -
[ QUOTE ]
I wouldn't be so rash to discredit the fighting pool on a /DA. the extra S/L res is very noticeable.
[/ QUOTE ]
Oh, I'm not saying Tough isn't handy, just that it's an end expensive toggle that you may not be able to afford to run very often.
It's a good idea to use view details to see which toggles are the most expensive ones. -
Set up a tab with "to hit rolls" to see what you are rolling and what you actually needed.
-
Oh, suviving is easy, it's the killing wich is tricky.

Lol Max you and I must play in different circles
[/ QUOTE ]
Max is right. In fact I don't think things are quite as bad as in the early days. -
Having taunt is not useful.
Using it skillfully and slotting it might be useful.
Having Chilling Embrace is ueseful.
Not being WP is useful.
Having AOE damage powers is useful.
Having Ice Patch is useful.
Having Energy Tranfer is useful.
etc
etc
etc
How can you possibly move without a tanker who has all of these abilities? -
[ QUOTE ]
Speculation about my attitudes or purposes are probably quite futile, but I will say this subject is something that 'was' misunderstood in the game and people probably swore to the bible according to whatever Dev that what they said was true. Given this the idea that it might still not be fully understood is surely IMO not too outragous an idea.
[/ QUOTE ]
Quite simply:
You are completly Wrong.
Castle was entierly emphatic and clear. It was NOT missunderstood by us, and Castle is completly confident he now understood it, after a lot of research, reverse engineering and testing. I'm sorry you wheren't here then, but there is absolutely no doubt.
[ QUOTE ]
I don't thank you for is the veiled insult
[/ QUOTE ]
I'm getting rather impatient with your obstinate refusal to accept what the developers / forum members of long standing tell you.
You are saying you don't believe us, which implies we are either stupid or lying, so you are the one making the veiled insults.
You want evidence: here is a link to the discusion we had hear about it. If you try to follow the link to the US forums you will see the original post is no longer there. This is not some conspiricy or cover up, it is simply because the forums are periodically wiped for the sake of performace. -
I'd forgetten about it until AVs where mentioned, I think it went in around the same time AVs got thier hp and regen buffed, possibly between issue 7 and 8, my memory is a bit hazy here.
What I believe happens is not that taunt is broken, its just that AVs have a random chance of throwing an attack at someone lower down thier hate scale. -
[ QUOTE ]
I'm still unconvinced of the currently accepted view of the maths of taunt
[/ QUOTE ]
It's what Castle says. You think he is talking out of his backside, or do you just think we are all liers since you didn't see his post?
However, there was special code added for AVs that alows them to ignore Taunt sometimes. I can't remember how it works, but there where a lot of complaints when it went in.
