Kinda unrelated but since I don't know where to look for this. Have they said what the max you'll be able to have is?
-
Sure would make it easier to kill enough ghosts in Croatoa if night lasted longer.
-
I think what we can take away from this thread is that NCSoft should take any left over money and invest in a fast food joint. They could call it Atlas Burger.

No, I didn't read your OP.
No, you shouldn't ask how a ghost can carry children.

Well then... I call dibs on Nocturne. -
You shouldn't insult old gum like that.

If you feel that you have a moral obligation to make sure that any money that you give any vendor for any given product is used in an ethical or moral way, then act on that.
You don't, however, have the right to tell them how to spend money that now belongs to them.

THis is the reason why won't eat at Burger King. I don't want my money helping them make [censored] commercials.
Yes, I am serious.
[/ QUOTE ]
That's why I DO eat at Burger King. That, and I find their foods to taste a thousand times better than McDonald's.
[/ QUOTE ]
I eat at both.

Wendy's FTW.
Mmmm...Baconator
[/ QUOTE ]
The only reason I ever eat Burger King or McDonald's instead of Wendy's is because they're pretty far to drive to from here and there are a couple 24 hour McDonald's around here. -

On my 41 tank, join a PuG of 40-ish. Ranging from 38-41. It's an train mish, you know...the one where you go to a train station and one of your options is the active mission? An outdoor instanced? OK...
39 Warshade joins the team. Usual banter begins, "Hi, how are you? Good, you?" blah blah blah...
Four of us, out of 5, are in the mission. Waiting on the last. I start going through team members, what powers, etc... I check the Warshade, expand the team window so I could see where he was and what was taking so long..he's in Oroborus. OOOOOooooK.
I ask, "What up yo?!" OK, that wasn't verbatim, but you get the jist. He then asks..."How do I get to that mission?"
O.o
Um...I kindly reply (as do two others) that you need to go...yada yada yada...I then mention that I think you can actually get here via the Orobous portal, when you leave Oroborus. He tells us, "Nope, not an option." We tell him to go to Talos or FF since the train station is really close to the Oroborus drop off point. He goes to FF.
At which point the lv 40 team lead, a blaster, asks "What's Oroborus?"
O.o
Um...OoooooK! I tell him, "Well, since sparky is taking a while...here I'll show you."
I drop the portal...we enter. I fly up to show him where the badge is, explain it (no vet badges), and go back to the Oroborus exit...and Lo and Behold! There it is...the option to enter his mission is there. Just as we click it the lost Warshade zones back into Oroborus.
O.o *quiver*
We go back into the mission...I then tell, sternly and fatherly, the Warshade that the option to get into the mission is indeed in the Oroborus exit menu.
All we get is, "Oh".
/em sigh

I am not sure on game mechanics, but I may have one possible answer as to why the WS couldn't see the mission (I assume you mean it was a Board Train mission). What if he had the window open before he joined the team?
Does anyone know if it will add the train mission option it the list of travel destinations?
[/ QUOTE ]
Perhaps I should fully explain: The Warshade player when to FF, to the train and couldn't find the mission. Then went back to Orobous so that is a moot point, I apologize for not specifying earlier.
[/ QUOTE ]
I've seen a lot of people get confused by this. I think it's because they don't know specifically what they're looking for. They're probably expecting it to say "Mission" or something like that. But instead it says the actual name of the area where it takes place which they may or may not know. -
Sounds like Johnny_Butane needs to stop running on difficulty level 5.

I have a trick arrow defender and I still want to slap the one you had in your team. Honestly Trick Arrow makes me feel more like a Dominator then a Defender.

This was also LONG before AE and just goes to prove anyone, at any time, can make some rather interesting (and goofy) power selections. Ah well it was HIS character and if he was happy with it so be it. Just glad I never had to team with him LOL

There've been n00bs doing dumb [censored] since launch. Everyone's ready to blame MA and AE missions for their n00bosity, but I've been here for five years and one of the things that I've noticed from threads like this is that they never change.
People not understanding their powers, people not understanding the game or the role their AT is supposed to fill. Everytime a thread like this pops up the stories and complaints are often very similar to the last time. Anyone blaming MA/AE for this is missing the point and is missing the reality of the situation and that is that MA/AE or not, there are n00bs, and quite frankly I've noticed neither a decreaes nor a significant uptick.
The more things change, the more they stay the same.
[/ QUOTE ]
I agree, MA just seems to have enabled them to get to level 50 before being blacklisted by every player in the game. -
Heh, wonder what he'd do if he wasn't the only tanker.

So, what I fear is that I'll someday read this thread or one like it and recognize that I'm the bad player.

I think you don't have to worry about that.

I agree. I think if you're worried that you might be a bad player, then you probably aren't. The bad players are usually completely oblivious to it. As several people have mentioned, usually any advice pitched their way goes in one ear and out the other. -

and she came back with all-caps, "THE LEAST YOU COULD DO IS TELL ME BEFORE WE START!!!" Several of us told her, quite nicely, that it had been in the invitation, and I invited her to scroll back through chat and look it up herself, but she was furious. After sputtering for a few moments, she then typed something about people always abusing her and rage-quit.
She had joined with her significant other (whom she left in the lurch by quitting) and even he wasn't able to calm her down, and he wasn't getting exp either.
I know people like to get exp, but....geeze. Everybody was being nice to her, too.

That's funny my brute's horror story is a team that 1) wants to rest after every group 2) thinks that he cares whether they choose to follow him or not. I quot a team last night, because the leader seemed committed to just standing around long enough for my fury to drop after every group. If I got fed up and jumped into the next spawn, he would invariably go for a different one to show that he was "in charge". I didn't care (see #2) but his whining about it made me crazy.
[/ QUOTE ]
That's perfectly fine if you can handle it. But this group was below level 20 and he was face planting repeatedly. We weren't stopping repeatedly either, but when multiple members are almost dead, you need to stop for a second. The only healing we had was me using medicine as a traps mastermind. I got a large amount of debt trying to keep him alive and he also wasn't the ONLY brute on the team. My best friend was playing on the team as his brute.
He even a few times ran on to the next group of enemies before we were done with what we were fighting. I'm not talking about a few stragglers here either, it was like half the group was still left. This guy just absolutely refused to stop regardless of the situation because "He could take it!". If you're face planting repeatedly, no you can't. He eventually quit in a huff blaming me for him dieing repeatedly in his coalition chat and the irony was another team member was in the coalition and got him kicked from his SG.
After that we continued on like nothing happened and had no further problems. -
Inspite of how long I've played. I've done a pretty good job of avoiding horribly bad players. Maybe it's cause I tend to stick to friends and SG members. My horror story used to be a brute who just simply would not wait for the team when they needed to rest. Well Saturday someone topped him.
I was running a Positron task force and a fire/thermal controller joined us. Aside from him our entire team consisted of tanks and scrappers. I kind of had a bad feeling at the very beginning when he didn't understand the concept of EXing. He was bragging about his fire imps when he joined and even though someone pointed out to him that he wouldn't have them during the TF, he still got confused once things started and he didn't have access to all his powers.
A little into the first mission he comments on "Um guys, I'm not getting any exp.". We had to explain that to him and why anyone would bother doing it. He also proceeded to start most of the fights with an AoE before anyone else attacked the enemies, causing himself to face plant a lot. I tell him to let the melees to attack first. Since well there were plenty of us. His response is "They're only aggroing on me because of my fireshield". A fireshield that I think I recall him putting on me maybe twice...
We hit the first CoT mission and suddenly everyone starts dieing like crazy. It is at this point that I realize he's not used his healing aura a single time so far. Not even when HE is about to die. I ask another team mate just to make sure, before saying to the guy "Why aren't you using your heal?" to which he responded that he forgot.
He face plants a few more times, still not using his heal at all. A couple of the team mates poke fun at him saying things like "You going after that debt badge? You're doing a pretty good job.". Suddenly he says "gtg cya" and starts logging off. I of course kicked him before he logged so he wouldn't screw us over. I probably would have kicked him before the end anyhow and the very next mission we started steam rolling things with him gone.
I can only assume this guy was PLed and was far too reliant on his fire imps to know anything about the rest of his powers. I've read other peoples horror stories about bad players but this just really made me wish we had a facepalm emote.
Anyone else got any interesting stories to share about bad team mates? -
Personally I just call them enemies.

Just a small bump since it is this coming Saturday.

This thread has officially killed any hope I had for Champions not being garbage. Guess it really will be Age of Conan with Super Heroes.
-
The only way I could see them removing a reward and people still using it is if all the exp you would be getting were turned into influence/infamy. Sure people may still farm for that, but it's nowhere near as game breaking as exp. Because influence doesn't make you go BAM level 50.

Thank you BayBlast for setting the tone of the topic. I can't believe I got carried away with it too.
To clear things up: I never wanted to go on a grand offensive. I simply intended to ponder the posibilities. Now that you have given more information (information that I lacked) I can see the error. I underestimated the cost of a permanent account.
I still have my doubts about the game, wether it's worth the money, but the game itself is good. I wouldn't mind if there was an offline version released.
Can we forget about this topic and all calm down?

I guess I stand corrected. I guess I get irritated over these kinds of questions having played MMOs for so long and always seeing people make complaints about the fee. -

Actually - I started out playing COH purely on a fluke. Picked it up cheaply at walmart, but was of the "Why would I want to keep paying for a game I've bought already?" mindset. But it was cheap enough ($20 for the COH CE, Issue 3) that I figured, what the heck.
And we got content updates. And a bunch of people running around. Servers to keep running. And a continually evolving game (in terms of powers, zones, and storyline.)
Lifetime subs? Well, I wouldn't have bought one then (put out $200-$300 for a game I hadn't tried, when I can burn through a $50 in a few hours? Insanity!) and the monthly fee is still cheap NOW. Lifetime fees - let's see, Hellgate: London, Founders sub. That was a gamble that was sure *lost* by the people who did it. (Actually, just buying the game was a big loss.) Tabula Rasa? Dead. LOTRO? Under the radar, though it's still going.
And guild wars? I *have* GW. They're more like Diablo II with servers hosting the towns. You go out into the world and see NPCs and whoever you hauled along. They are nothing like a traditional MMO, and sure haven't delivered content updates like a real one. (Not to mention, IMHO, it's exceptionally *boring.*)
$15/mo for continual upkeep, keeping the servers going, keeping content coming in and keeping the game alive - it's cheap.

Yeah but my guess is you're not the type of person who goes on forums arguing against having the pay a subscription, so you don't really fall into what I'm talking about. People like the OP have a high tendency to REFUSE to understand something when it's something that is inconvenient for them. -
